Ghostface Killah Celebrates 25 Years Of His Debut Solo Album “Ironman”

Wu-Tang Clan members have been celebrating several milestone anniversaries in recent years. In 2020, Raekwon and GZA celebrated the 25th anniversary of their solo debuts, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx and Liquid Swords, respectively. The year before that, it was the 25th anniversary of Method Man’s TICAL. Ghostface Killah is now celebrating the 25th anniversary of his 1996 debut album, Ironman. The debut from GFK was re-released on streaming services and includes a remix of the hit record, “All I Got Is You” ft. Mary J. Blige.

Ironman remains one of the most pivotal albums to be released in the 1990s. Ghost’s vivid, and often amoral, storytelling helped bring RZA’s cinematic production to life, with the help of Cappadonna and Raekwon, of course. During a recent interview with Billboard, Ghost explained how he was coming off of the success of Only Built 4 Cuban Linx while dealing with health issues, both physical and mental.

Ironman was dark to me. The cover is colorful, but as far as the music, there was something going on there — it was wrong,” said Ghostface. “That’s why I didn’t get on a few of the records, like ‘Assassination Day’ [with RZA, Inspectah Deck and Raekwon] or ‘Fasta Blade.’ I couldn’t write to those records. Rae did what he did on ‘Fasta Blade’ — I couldn’t come behind that, not feeling how I was feeling, so I left it there like that.”

At the start of 2021, beloved Atlanta rap trio Travis Porter made an appearance Adam22’s No Jumper podcast, and during their visit, they explained how Bankroll Fresh’s passing, the collapse of Jive Records, and subsequent label issues all contributed to their fall-off during the latter half of the 2010s. Alina Baraz Returns With Another Melodic R&B EP, “Moongate”

It was just a few weeks ago that Alina Baraz caught our attention with her short and sweet EP, Sunbeam. Today, the “Electric” singer returns with another 4-track project, this time titled Moongate. The new EP comes in at just under 14 minutes and features plenty of Baraz’s sultry vocals layered over melodic, moody R&B beats.

“Ready for pt 2 of Sunbeam?” the 28-year-old asked her Instagram followers earlier this week while dropping off some spicy new selfies. “Please release it this week so I can hear it live next week show,” one fan replied. “YES DROP IT RIGHT NEOWWWWWW,” another eager follower chimed in.

Just like on her September release, Baraz chose to fly solo on Moongate, letting her beautiful voice take centre stage. On past projects, she’s collaborated with the likes of Khalid, 6LACK, Smino, and Nas, all of whom sound amazing when matched up with the Ohio-born starlet.

Our personal favourite track from the new EP is “Maze,” but all of them are absolutely worth checking out.

Stream Alina Baraz’s Moongate below, and don’t hesitate to let us know what you think.

Tracklist:

1. Maze

2. Right There

3. Change My Mind
