Strick Releases New Album “Strick Land” Featuring Young Thug, Kid Cudi, A$AP Rocky, & More

YSL Records has been building one of the strongest rosters in hip-hop, and North Carolina’s Strick is one of the most decorated members of the squad. Having written for some of the biggest artists in the world, Strick put in a lot of work behind-the-scenes before focusing on his own career as an artist. For the last few weeks, he has been releasing singles with the likes of Swae Lee, Kaash Paige, and others to lead into his new album Strick Land, a play on his family name, and the project has officially dropped in full.

Building from his recent appearance on Young Thug’s new album Punk, Strick works with some heavy-hitters on Strick Land, including Kid Cudi, A$AP Rocky, Gunna, and more. Of course, Thugger makes an appearance on the tracklist, and so do Skepta, NAV, and others.

This is Strick’s official debut studio album, and the rapper couldn’t be more proud to drop this today. “Thank you to literally every single person involved,” he said on Instagram. “God. My family. My slimes. The Producers. The Engineers. Featured Artist. Video directors. Photographers. My Management. Entire 300 | YSL STAFF! My product manager(s) My assistant and every person who takes the time to give my record a chance. I appreciate you. This is Just the start.”

Key Glock Needs No Help On New Album “Yellow Tape 2”

Memphis rapper Key Glock has officially returned with his new studio album Yellow Tape 2, relying on nobody but himself throughout the twenty-song tracklist. Next to the definition of “self-made” in the dictionary, a picture of Key Glock should be listed because on his new album, the rapper made it a point to show that he doesn’t need any outside help, delivering a solid project without any features (except his alter-ego Glizzock, of course.)

Doubling down on himself, Key Glock shines over production from Tay Keith, BandPlay, Buddah Bless, and others. On the cover artwork, Glock flexes his bright yellow cars, all of which he fully owns.

Check out Glizzock’s new album below and let us know what you think of it. Learn more about the Memphis rapper through his latest interview for On The Come Up, where he speaks about the new album and much more.

Aminé Gets Experimental On His Latest Full-Length, “TWOPOINTFIVE”

In 2018, Aminé was roughly a year removed from his official debut album Good For You when he decided to treat his fans with a new project. The full-length effort, which was titled ONEPOINTFIVE, served as an in-between-albums type of project, and in its trailer, Aminé even made fun of the vague labels that projects are often given.

“Mixtapes are albums, and albums are mixtapes,” the Portland rapper joked during the teaser trailer. “Niggas call they albums mixtapes. Cuz if it flops, it’s a EP.”

Three years later, Aminé has returned with another ambiguous EPLPMixtapeAlbum, and this time around, the project’s title is TWOPOINTFIVE.

Like ONEPOINTFIVETWOPOINTFIVE finds the 2017 XXL Freshman trying new flows and experimenting with new styles, yet unlike the original, Aminé takes care of business without any guest features. The result is an encapsulating sonic effort that knows no bounds, and once again the hitmaker behind songs like “Caroline,” “Riri,” “REEL IT IN,” and “Compensating” has exemplified his ability to craft the joyously peculiar and undoubtedly infectious records.

“The POINTFIVE projects are the breaks in between albums where I give myself the freedom to make music without expectations, focusing instead of spontaneity and the best of what comes from stream of conscious creation, which is why they arrive unexpectedly without a long rollout,” Aminé says when explaining the premise of TWOPOINTFIVE. “It’s an opportunity to create for my day one fans the way I used to in my bedroom. Thanks for listening.”

Check out Aminé’s experimental follow-up to 2020’s Limbo below, and let us know in the comments if you’re feeling the Portland artist’s new style on TWOPOINTFIVE.

Terrace Martin Shares “Drones” Ft. Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Ty Dolla $ign, Cordae, D Smoke, Hit-Boy & More

He’s worked with some of our favorite artists across various genres, and now Terrace Martin has stepped into the spotlight with a new project. The famed musician has been recognized for his work with artists like Snoop Dogg and Kendrick Lamar, particularly on the latter’s stellar project To Pimp a Butterfly, and on Friday (November 5), he shares an ode to Crenshaw of sorts, Drones.

“Man, think about this. We all can witness murders on the f*ckin’ phone now,” Martin told Stereogum when discussing the inspiration behind Drones. “Like, we are all traumatized. I was thinking the other day, I saw one of my good friends die on the phone. Nipsey Hussle, one of my dear friends since he was a kid — I saw my friend die on the phone. We’re traumatized. We’re all f*cked up.”

“So Drones is a body of work that discusses these issues, how we have a lack of compassion, how we have a lack of trust, how we are people [for whom] nowadays perception is the new reality, which is a whole f*cked up thing as well, you know what I’m saying? So the whole body of work is attacking all of these themes, not negatively, attacking them masked as love songs.”

Drones is produced by Martin, Top Dawg Entertainment’s President Punch, and James Fauntleroy. The album features looks from Lamar, Snoop, Ty Dolla $ign, Cordae, Smino, D Smoke, Robert Glasper, Hit-Boy, and more. Stream Drones and let us know what you think.
