Yelawolf & DJ Muggs Connect For “Mile Zero”

In the midst of a genuine musical onslaught, Yelawolf has officially dropped off the third of four new albums. Following the RiFF RAFF-assisted TURQUOiSE TORNADO and the DJ Paul-assisted SlumafiaYela has connected with the legendary DJ Muggs for Mile Zero, a project that finds Yelawolf paying homage to his hip-hop roots over sample-based production. It’s a notably refreshing move from Catfish Billy, whose chops as a formidable emcee are effectively highlighted by Muggs’ grimy and raw production.

That’s not to say Yela hasn’t been spitting of late, as his previous three releases have found him rapping like a man possessed. Yet there’s something to said about Mile Zero, which feels closer to some of the single-producer underground drops that Alchemist has been lacing of late. For one, it puts Yela’s penmanship and performative chops on full display, and the Alabama rapper seems to revel in the prospect of donning the backpack for old time’s sake.

Over Muggs’ dusty minimalism, Yela navigates over pockets with practiced ease. On “Flea Market,” Yela unleashes a seemingly endless barrage of bars for several minutes straight. “Matador” reimagines Blacksheep in a different light, as Yela and Caskey deftly try their hand at nostalgic boom-bap. Though featuring guest appearances from B-Real, Del The Funky Homosapien, Caskey, and DJ Paul, Mile Zero shines on the strength of its leading men, who forged impressive and unexpected chemistry deep into their respective careers.

The buzz keeps on increasing with every single release, and rightfully so.

This week, Mother Nature unveiled their latest body of work, SZNZ. The 15 track EP was entirely produced by Boathouse. On the features side, Mother Nature enlists a slew of Chicago natives to bring their project to life. Pap Chanel Drops Off “Welcome To Pap World”

It’s always refreshing to download a new mixtape where an MC would simply tackle popular production to prove just how sharp their pen is. It was a common practice throughout the mixtape era but since it’s hard to monetize off of those projects, it seems to be less frequent than many would hope.

Pap Chanel, however, returned this week with her latest project, Welcome To Pap World where she rips through some of the hottest hip-hop production of all time. Chanel flexes her lyrical muscle and versatile flow over more recent hit records like Offset and Cardi B’s “Clout,” Clipse’s “Grindin’,” and more.

Pap’s proven that she could dominate the clubs with singles like “Gucci Bucket Hat” but Welcome To Pap World might be what wins over the bar-heavy enthusiasts.

Robb Banks Is Back On His New Project “Few Pillz”

It feels like it’s been a minute since we’ve heard some new music from Robb Bank$. The Florida rapper did slide through with a few projects over the course of 2020, and even uploaded his project Calendars to streaming services. However, it’s been a quiet 2021 thus far on his end, with the exception of a few collaborations.

The wait was worth it now that he’s arrived with his latest body of work, Few Pillz. The narcotics-themed project is only six songs in total with each song taking a name from a specific pill, whether it’s Percocets or Hydrocodone. Though no features are attached to the project, he did enlist a slew of producers like Oogiemane and Richie Souf for the tracklist.

Check the project out below.
