Mach Hommy Drops Off Griselda Debut “Pray For Haiti”

Mach Hommy’s Griselda debut Pray For Haiti has arrived, boasting an impressive sixteen tracks and guest appearances from Westside Gunn, Keisha Plum, and Tha God Fahim. On the production end, the project is brought to life by the beat-making talents of Camoflage Monk, Cee Gee, Conductor Williams, Denny LaFlare, DJ Green Lantern, and more.

In many ways, Pray For Haiti feels like a new direction for Westside Gunn’s Griselda records, though Mach Hommy’s latest certainly retains the grimy, raw, and lyrically focused quality associated with the label. On the latter front, Hommy is particularly adept, his clever mind for punchlines equally matched with his ability to spit unrelenting flows. “Oh word? your raps braggadocious?” he asks, on the Camoflauge Monk-laced “No Blood No Sweat.” “Put this .38 in your mouth, go ahead and spit your magnum opus.”

His chemistry with Gunn is also worthy of note, and the Griselda mogul brings exciting energy when paired with his new sparring partner. For the most part, however, Pray For Haiti is far and away Hommy’s showcase. In a year that has already seen no shortage of excellent underground releases — provided it’s fair to call an album that netted Hommy a sit down with JAY-Z underground — Pray For Haiti may very well find itself discussed among the best.

It’s also worth noting that 20 percent of the proceeds are going to the PRAY FOR HAITI TRUST FUND, which will improve schools in  Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Bars for a cause — does it get any better? Stream Pray For Haiti here and now.

Paris Texas Releases Debut Project “BOY ANONYMOUS”

Los Angeles dup Paris Texas have remained rather anonymous on the come-up but that’s really a testament to their music. The Los Angeles duo have been bubbling up in the underground West Coast scene throughout the past few months, specifically, as they ramped up the campaign for their debut project.

Following the success of singles like “Force Of Habit” and “HEAVY METAL,” they’ve arrived with their debut project BOY ANONYMOUS in full. The eight-track effort is a compact effort with production that’s as dreamy as it is grungy, speaking to their wide array of influences. The genre-bending effort is completely featureless, allowing the duo, consisting of Louie Pastel and Felix, to offer a well-pronounced introduction to the masses.

Young Nudy Drops “Dr. EV4L” Project Ft. 21 Savage, Lil Uzi Vert, G Herbo

The hype surrounding this release was no joke as Young Nudy has been steadily counting down the days until the release of his latest project, Dr. EV4L, for over a month. The 13-track album doesn’t host too many features, but the few Nudy included were some of the hottest hitmakers in the game. The rapper called on 21 Savage, G Herbo, and Lil Uzi Vert to lend their vocals to the project, and fans are already praising Nudy’s latest effort. Stream Dr. EV4Land let us know what you think.

TheHxliday’s “The Most Beautiful Disaster” Is An Ambitious Double-Sided EP

On Friday, TheHxliday pulled a quintessential Mac Miller move and dropped a highly anticipated project on the same day as two music industry giants. While Mac famously posted up against Kanye West and J. Cole in 2013, TheHxliday shared his new EP last week amidst high-profile releases from J. Cole and Nicki Minaj

Previously led by singles such as the Polo G-assisted “Wit Dat” and “Salsa,” The Most Beautiful Disaster is an ambitious double-sided EP that illustrates his impressive versatility. As an artist who cites his favorite musical acts as My Chemical Romance, Bruno Mars, and Eazy-E, TheHxliday uses The Most Beautiful Disaster to show that he is just as multifaceted as his taste.

At nine tracks, The Most Beautiful Disaster has a quick runtime of 26 minutes, and it also only features one guest verse from “Rapstar” artist Polo G. Thus, the new EP is the perfect sampler for those who are still catching onto the sensational new artist.
