When Does Aminé & Kaytranada’s Album ‘Kaytraminé’ Come Out?

When Aminé announced his joint project with Kaytranada last month, it sounded like a match made in heaven. The two genre-forward artists named their upcoming album Kaytraminé in honor of the combination of their respective styles. After releasing the Pharrell-featuring single “4Eva” and sharing the summery tracklist, they’ve got fans clamoring for an official release. Fortunately, those fans won’t have long to wait; Kaytraminé has a release date of May 19, just ten days away — and more than enough time for them to drop at least one more teaser.

Kaytraminé will be Aminé’s first album since 2020’s Limbo, his second studio album, and his first full-length project since his 2021 mixtape TwoPointFive, which was meant to split the wait until his next album. Meanwhile, Kaytranada previously proved his ability to produce a full project alongside another multifaceted rap talent with last year’s Simple, a joint project with DMV rapper IDK.

Kaytranada also raised his profile this spring with his appearances at Coachella during which he played eclectic sets of his iconic collaborations. While weekend one saw him bring out Aminé and Kali Uchis, for weekend two, he introduced the crowd to his work with Anderson Paak, HER, and Tinashe.

Aminé & Kaytranada’s ‘Kaytraminé’ Tracklist Invites Big Sean, Pharrell, And Others For Some Summer Fun

Aminé and Kaytranada’s upcoming joint album Kaytraminé has been exciting fans on the internet since it was announced, and lead single “4eva” drove the buzz to a deafening pitch. After Kaytranada brought out Aminé during his Coachella set, the wait for their album became borderline unbearable, but today, they’ve shared some information that should ease the impatience of their ravenous fans: the cover, tracklist, and release date, which isn’t too far off now.

Both artists appear on the cover in summery outfits lounging on deck chairs, with Kaytra dressed for the pool and Aminé holding a glass of champagne. The pool theme continues on the tracklist, with sun umbrellas and beach balls dotting the blue background between the track titles. The whole thing gives the vibe of a late ’80s/early ’90s catalog, with bright colors and oversaturated photo processing imitating the film photography and glossy pages of the two artists’ early youth.

Meanwhile, the tracklist includes some impressive features, with Big Sean, Freddie Gibbs, Pharrell Williams, and Snoop Dogg all putting in some appearances, while Kaytraminé gives a leg up to rising singer Amaarae. In the comments, fans are already calling Kaytraminé the album of the summer. It’s due on May 19.

Kaytranada And Aminé Prove They’re In This ‘4Eva’ By Sharing The First Single From Their Joint Album

Earlier this week, Kaytranada and Aminé announced that they’d be joining forces as the fitting “Kaytraminé” for a new project “coming soon,” as shared on social media. It appears fans are now getting the first glimpse of their collaborative style, as they dropped their first single, “4Eva.”

Featuring co-production by none other than Pharrell, the insanely-danceable track features addictive loops from the producer on the chorus and outro, as well as some creative verses from Aminé.

“Comment tu t’appelles? Je m’appelle Aminé (Shee) / I’m starin’ at your eyes but you starin’ at my lips (True) / You talkin’ ’bout your momma but you thinkin’ ’bout my d*ck (True) / I catch on these nuances and assists,” he raps.

As someone who was familiar with Aminé from his Good For You era and was introduced to Kaytranada at a festival last year, “4Eva” never seems to miss a single step — perfect for making even longtime fans all the more excited.

This is just the start for the duo, as they’ve also officially announced that an album, self-titled off their joint name, will be dropping in May.

The two have been gearing up for this for quite a while, working together on a handful of other projects. Back in 2014, Aminé dropped a remix, putting his own spin on Kaytranada’s “At All.” He also went on to produce several songs on Aminé’s 2015 mixtape.

Aminé And Kaytranada Will Get Their Funk On As ‘Kaytraminé’ On Their Upcoming Project

Today, in “Yes please, I would like that, right now” news: Aminé and Kaytranada are doing an album together. It’s apparently called, fittingly, Kaytraminé, and this writer is rightly having a bit of a meltdown knowing that it’s “coming soon” and not “already out.” So far, all the information we have is this trailer video, which sees Kaytra manipulating a midi controller with each trigger pad set for a different syllable in each artist’s name. He presses them in order to create their individual names before combining them into the portmanteau. Then, a little clip of music plays and I want it right now, please and thank you.

It’s the first new project Aminé has announced since the Portland rapper released TwoPointFive back in November 2021. That album was a placeholder mixtape between the release of Limbo and Aminé’s eventual third studio album. Whether this project with Kaytranada will be a side project or that third album remains to be seen.

Meanwhile, Kaytranada has been much more visible lately despite his relatively quiet position behind the boards. He’s been producing for a number of rising stars in the industry, including Ravyn Lenae, Joyce Wrice, and PinkPantheress. Additionally, IDK teased a second installment of his Simple joint project with Kaytra in November. There’s plenty to look forward to from the prolific producer, so stay tuned.
