Lil Jon Admits That Justin Bieber Didn’t Join Usher’s Halftime Show Because He ‘Wasn’t Really Ready To’

Lil Jon appeared alongside Usher at the Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show last weekend, as the two (and Ludacris) delivered the energy with their performance of “Yeah” — which served as the grand finale in Usher’s headlining set.

However, fans had been theorizing that Justin Bieber would have been one of the special guests, and Lil Jon recently opened up to TMZ about why that didn’t happen.

“We wanted to put Justin in the show, so we had the idea of doing a version of the show with Justin in it,” Lil Jon said. “I think Justin just wasn’t really ready to—that’s a lot of rehearsal, a lot of time, and a lot of eyeballs, and I don’t know if he was ready to do all of that, you know what I mean? But he was definitely there supporting us, and they’re really good friends.”

“He was there with his wife having a good time and, you know, it’s a lot of time you have to dedicate to being in a show like this,” he added. “It’s not just, ‘Okay, let’s go do one rehearsal’ and you get onstage. It’s a lot of time that’s dedicated, so I don’t know if he was ready to do all of that.”

Although Bieber’s appearance didn’t wind up working out, a source told Page Six that there are no hard feelings between Usher and him about it.

Justin Bieber Did Not Perform At Super Bowl LVIII With USHER, Here’s Why

The Super Bowl Halftime Show always produces some interesting story angles every year. In just two days since the performance, fans already have so much to say about it. In fact, fans are already trying/hoping to get certain artists to hit centerfield when the game heads to New Orleans, Louisiana in 2025. Of course, Super Bowl LVIII’s (58) headlining act was Texas-born R&B legend USHER. The show was widely praised due to its impressive choreography, singing, and overall energy. Another reason why it was widely loved could be attributed to the guest acts. Lil’ Jon, Ludacris, H.E.R., and Alicia Keys were just a few who joined USHER. However, one person who was missing in action was Justin Bieber.

The Canadian pop superstar was a highly-anticipated Super Bowl performer. He and USHER have a handful of tracks together as well. Bieber recruited his mentor for “Somebody to Love” and its remix, “First Dance,” and “Peaches (Remix).” So, why did we not get to see some nostalgic songs be put on display for the millions of people watching?

Well, it was as simple as Justin saying “he wasn’t feeling it.” That comes from The Neighborhood Talk and sources close to Page Six. However, there is no ill will whatsoever. In fact, Biebs went on IG to congratulate his pal for show will he sat in the stands watching it all unfold, according to Uproxx. “LOVE YOU MY BROTHER. NOONE CAN SING AND DANCE THE WAY YOU DO. LOVE YOU FROM THE DEPTHS OF MY HEART. BROUGHT THE ‘A’ TO THE WORLD, ONLY YOU BABYYYYYY 😘” It is also worth mentioning Bieber did have health complications not too long ago. But, it is good to see the brotherly love.

What are your thoughts on Justin Bieber’s reason for not performing with USHER at Super Bowl LVIII? Do you think he will get the chance to do it at some point in his career again? Justin Bieber Didn’t Join Usher At The Super Bowl Halftime Show, But He Thought It Was Fantastic

Leading up to this past weekend, there were rumors that Justin Bieber would be at Super Bowl LVIII to join Usher for the halftime show. That turned out to be only half correct: Bieber went to the game, but he was there merely as a spectator and did not get on stage with Usher. As for what actually did happen on the field between halves, though, Bieber thought it was great, as he heaped praise on Usher after the performance.

Sharing a photo from Usher’s performance, Bieber wrote yesterday (February 12), “LOVE YOU MY BROTHER. NOONE CAN SING AND DANCE THE WAY YOU DO. LOVE YOU FROM THE DEPTHS OF MY HEART. BROUGHT THE ‘A’ TO THE WORLD, ONLY YOU BABYYYYYY [kissing emoji].”

According to TMZ, before the game, Usher reached out to Bieber and asked if he’d make a halftime show appearance. A Daily Mail report from October 2023, meanwhile, said, “[Usher] really wants to prove himself worthy of such an honor because he definitely sees that the excitement level for him doing it is not at an all-time high. He has asked some of his friends who are artists to help him out and join him on stage, and he has thrown a few ideas towards Justin.”

Plenty of non-Bieber guests did take the field alongside Usher, though, including Alicia Keys, Ludacris, and Lil Jon.

Usher played a major role in Justin Bieber’s career, as he served as a mentor to the eventual global pop sensation when Bieber was just a kid with a dream. So, with Usher’s Super Bowl Halftime Show coming up this weekend, people can’t help but wonder:

Will Justin Bieber Perform With Usher At The Super Bowl Halftime Show?

We don’t know for sure yet, and we might not until the performance is actually underway. But, it looks like Usher has at least put in the ask.

According to TMZ, Usher reached out to Bieber directly (meaning no “my people will call your people” situation, just two music superstars talking 1-on-1) and asked him to join him. TMZ’s sources didn’t know how that conversation ended up going.

Meanwhile, a previous Daily Mail report from October 2023 said, “[Usher] really wants to prove himself worthy of such an honor because he definitely sees that the excitement level for him doing it is not at an all-time high. He has asked some of his friends who are artists to help him out and join him on stage, and he has thrown a few ideas towards Justin.”

That report also noted Bieber “is leaning towards letting Usher do his thing and Justin would rather have the opportunity to do the Super Bowl on his own in the future if he were to be asked.”

That was months ago, though, so it’s possible Bieber has changed his mind since then (or that the report wasn’t accurate to begin with). He canceled his world tour in 2023 due to health issues, but he did just perform during NHL All-Star Weekend. So, who knows?

Drake Asks Justin Bieber For An Invite To A Hockey Game

Justin Bieber and Drake are two of the most notable Canadian exports of their generation. That’s why it’s no surprise that they both rep some sports teams from their home countries. Drizzy is notorious for sitting courtside during Toronto Raptors games and was omnipresent throughout the team’s 2019 title run. But in a recent Instagram post, Justin Bieber pledged his allegiance to a different team in an entirely different sport.

“Had fun last night at the next gen game with the @mapleleafs” Bieber captioned an Instagram post. He also included two pictures taken during a recent Toronto Maple Leafs hockey game. The first picture of the bunch features the pop star and his boo both sporting some Maple Leafs merch. But in the comments, Drake popped up with a hilariously passive-aggressive comment about not being invited to the game. “Wow guy doesn’t even invite me to see some puck bunnies eh,” his comment reads. The post itself already has more than 1.5 million likes while Drizzy’s comment has racked up more than 14k. Check out Bieber’s post and the hilarious comment below.

Drake Wants To Hit Up A Hockey Game With Justin Bieber

Last week, Drake released the new music video for his song “You Broke My Heart.” The track was a standout from the Scary Hours 3 addition to his album For All The Dogs earlier this year. It closes off the EP and has racked up nearly 40 million Spotify streams since the addition to the album dropped back in November.

But the video attracted some controversy for one particular cameo. The biggest superstar in all of country music and one of the biggest-selling artists of 2023, Morgan Wallen, makes an appearance alongside Drake in the music video. Many still take issue with a 2021 incident where Wallen was caught using the N-word on video taken by someone’s doorbell camera. What do you think of Drake trying to get invited to Justin Bieber’s next hockey game outing? Let us know in the comment section below.

Who Is Headlining Coachella 2024?

2023 Coachella Valley Music And Arts Festival

The Empire Polo Club Grounds in Indio, California, has become one of the most popular locations for live music. This year alone, the inaugural rock festival Power Trip called it home. Next year, Stagecoach Festival will set up shop for its multi-day programming. But the most popular outdoor event held on the grounds is Coachella. With the extravagant two-weekend scheduled to take place in April, curious minds want to know who is headlining.

As of Monday, December 18, the headliners for both weekends, April 14 to 16 and 21 to 23, have not been announced. However, organizers are feeling the pressure based on this year’s atrocity of a set by Frank Ocean (who later dropped out of weekend two). Although Frank did not live up to the hype surrounding his festival return, fans are open to Justin Bieber filling the top slot.

Last year, Bieber postponed his Justice World Tour due to his battle with health complications brought on by Ramsay Hunt syndrome. Now, it appears that he could be up to the big feat. Some are also theorizing that given the success of Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour, it would make sense for her to headline next year’s Coachella. Another name that has been bandied about is Olivia Rodrigo.

It appears ticketholders will have to hold out for just a few more weeks until the confirmed lineup is revealed.

After more than 40 years, racing made its return to Las Vegas and in true Vegas style, it was a spectacle on and off the track. The Las Vegas Grand Prix, which forms part of the Formula One World Championship, took place on Saturday with celebs gathering to watch some of the top racers in the world on a specially-designed track, which included parts of the Las Vegas strip.

Rihanna and A$AP Rocky joined the Ferrari team where they wore headphones to hear the drivers communication with their teams. Justin Bieber had the honor of waving the checkered lap for the final lap of the race, which was won by Max Verstappen of Team Red Bull.

Other A-listers in attendance included Anthony Mackie, Steve Aoki, Chad Ochocinco, Axl Rose, Brad Pitt, Paris Hilton, David BeckhamWayne Newton, Heidi KlumDonny Osmond, Shaquille O’NealCara Delevingne, and Patrick Dempsey, and more.

And even though Tom Brady, an avid racing fan, could not be there in person, he Facetimed some words of encouragement to Logan Sargeant, a rookie driver for Williams Racing.

The last Formula One race, the Caesars Palace Grand Prix, was held in Las Vegas in 1982 while the last street race held in the city since was the Vegas Grand Prix Champ Car in 2007. The race came with a great deal of controversy including construction costs and delays and interruptions to other Las Vegas businesses and residents. In addition to reports that fans also tore down view-blocking screens to get a glimpse of the race, others who actually purchased tickets are also upset that they did not get their money’s worth. The race has already been hit with a class-action lawsuit on behalf of the 35,000 people who bought tickets for Thursday’s practice session that was cancelled when Carlos Sainz’s Ferrari was damaged by a loose drain cover.

What Is Justin Bieber’s Best-Selling Album?

Justin Bieber’s journey in the music industry has been one of constant evolution and reinvention. With the release of Purpose in 2015, Bieber transitioned from a teenage heartthrob into a mature artist, showcasing a depth and sincerity that many had not anticipated. Purpose was more than just an album. It was a statement reflecting a significant turning point in his career, both musically and personally.

This album arrived at a critical juncture in Bieber’s life, following a period of highly publicized personal challenges. Purpose served as his musical redemption. It was a platform where he acknowledged his past and expressed his aspirations for growth and change. The album’s blend of reflective lyrics with a fresh, contemporary sound departed from his earlier work. It resonated with both long-time fans and new listeners.

Purpose: A New Musical Direction

With Purpose, Justin Bieber ventured into a new musical landscape. He blended pop sensibilities with dance and R&B influences to create a contemporary and deeply personal sound. The album’s production, marked by collaborations with prominent producers like Skrillex and Diplo, introduced a more mature and polished sound, signaling Bieber’s evolution as an artist.

The album’s lead single, “What Do You Mean?” exemplified this new direction. Its catchy, synth-driven melody and introspective lyrics set the tone for the rest of the album. Meanwhile, tracks like “Sorry” and “Love Yourself” – the latter co-written by Ed Sheeran – showcased Bieber’s growth as a songwriter, featuring introspective lyrics that were reflective and self-aware.

Collaborations on the album played a significant role in diversifying its sound. The hit single “Where Are Ü Now,” featuring Skrillex and Diplo, stood out for its innovative fusion of dance beats with Bieber’s emotive vocals, becoming a chart-topping success and a critical favorite. This track and others like “Company” demonstrated Bieber’s ability to integrate different musical styles seamlessly.

Achieving Commercial Success & Critical Acclaim

Justin Bieber’s “Purpose” marked a pinnacle in his career, not just artistically but also in commercial performance. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart in the United States, directly indicating its immediate and widespread appeal. It sold an impressive 649,000 copies in its first week alone, solidifying Bieber’s comeback in the music industry.

Internationally, Purpose mirrored this success. In the United Kingdom, it debuted at No. 2 on the UK Albums Chart and later reached the top spot. The album enjoyed similar triumphs in other major markets, including Australia, Canada, and across Europe, earning multi-platinum certifications in several countries.

Critically, Purpose garnered praise for its mature approach and the depth of Bieber’s artistry. Tracks like “Sorry” and “Love Yourself” received particular acclaim for their lyrical introspection and catchy composition. “Love Yourself” peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, while “Sorry” followed closely at number two. The album’s experimental track “Where Are Ü Now” with Skrillex and Diplo, also received critical acclaim and won a Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording, further acknowledging Bieber’s successful foray into new musical territories.

Lasting Impact Of Purpose

The enduring legacy of Justin Bieber’s Purpose extends well beyond its chart-topping success and initial acclaim. The album marked a definitive turning point in Bieber’s career, showcasing his evolution from a teen pop sensation to a respected artist with a profound impact on contemporary music. Its influence can be observed in the shift towards a more introspective and authentic approach within the pop genre.

Purpose set a new precedent for how artists could effectively blend personal storytelling with commercial appeal. Bieber’s honest exploration of his struggles and triumphs resonated with audiences, allowing for a deeper connection with his music. This shift towards vulnerability in mainstream pop paved the way for other artists to embrace a similar authenticity in their work.

The album also had a notable impact on the sound of pop music. Its successful integration of electronic and dance elements with traditional pop melodies influenced a wave of musical experimentation among other artists and producers. Bieber’s collaborations on the album, particularly the innovative production on tracks like “Where Are Ü Now,” demonstrated the potential for cross-genre fusion, inspiring a trend that has become increasingly prevalent in pop music.
