Lil Uzi Vert’s Version Of Kanye West’s “Fade” Surfaces Online

Lil Uzi Vert has had such an artistic rebrand in recent years that it’s easy to forget how long they’ve been popular. They have dominated the charts for a decade, and collaborated with some of the biggest artists in the world. One of these artists is Kanye West. Uzi Vert and West appeared on the Travis Scott single “Watches” in 2018, but they were actually supposed to link up two years prior on West’s album The Life of Pablo. Lil Uzi Vert laid down vocals for the song “Fade,” but they were scrapped from the final version. Whatever they would have sounded like on the song was left to the imagination.

Until today. The alternate version of “Fade” was leaked online on May 29, complete with a verse from Uzi. The rest of the song is similar, with backing vocals from Ty Dolla Sign and Post Malone, but their singular style completely changes the feel of the song. Lil Uzi Vert is actually the first person to get a verse before West, and they make the most of it. They ride the bouncy house instrumental with ease, and opt for a low key, cool approach. This stands in direct contrast to the wild inflections of say, Uzi’s guest verse on “Bad and Boujee.” It’s understandable why West scrapped it for something with more energy, but it’s still very interesting to hear.

Lil Uzi Vert Laid Down A Guest Verse Back In 2016

Lil Uzi Vert has been vocal about the unreleased music they have with Kanye West. During the 2018 Grammy Awards, the rapper told Complex Magazine that they and West literally hundreds of songs that have yet to see the light of day. “Me and Kanye been working ever since Lil Uzi ever existed in his music career,” they explained. “I always knew ‘Ye. We have like hundreds of stuff, but trying to get it together. Stuff means it rounds about to anything you can think of.”

West has been one of Lil Uzi Vert’s most vocal champions. He regularly praises Uzi’s albums, and during a 2022 episode of Drink Champs, cited the rapper of one of two artists who represent the future of hip-hop. “It’s always two,” he noted. “Always two at a time. It’s really [Playboi] Carti and Uzi.” West also went as far as to compare Lil Uzi Vert to Steve Jobs in a 2020 tweet. When rumors surfaced that he was no longer a fan of the rapper, West set the record straight. “I love Uzi,” he wrote. “I be saying the same thing about Steve Jobs I be feeling just like Uzi.”

Travis Kelce Breaks Silence On The Controversy Created By A Dubious Report About His Haircut

Travis Kelce was thrust into a bizarre narrative this past weekend, and no, it had nothing to do with Taylor Swift. This time around, it was the New York Times who wrote about Kelce and his haircut. For years, Kelce has had a typical fade. Overall, it is a look that was first used by black men and the technique itself was perfected by black barbers. However, the NYT was dubbing this the “Travis Kelce Cut.” Subsequently, many felt disrespected by the report as it completely ignored the history of the haircut.

Kelce is hardly the first man to wear his hair this way, and he will not be the last. However, some continue to act like he somehow invented this haircut. Well, last night was media day for the Super Bowl, and he got to field a ton of questions on a variety of topics. Of course, many wanted to hear about the new Taylor Swift album that is coming out. One journalist ended up asking him about his haircut and what he thought of the controversy. As he explained, he never created it. He is well aware of this and wants it to be crystal clear.

Travis Kelce Speaks

Kelce notes that when he goes to see his barber, he asks for a fade and that is what he gets, no other questions asked. It is pretty clear he feels uncomfortable with the idea that he invented this loo. But that is the territory that comes with being Taylor Swift’s boyfriend. People are going to say things about you and lift you up before they can tear you down. Only time will tell whether or not the noise will affect Kelce in this year’s Super Bowl. That said, we know for sure Taylor is going to be there.

Let us know what you think of the Travis Kelce haircut controversy, in the comments section below. Do you think he will capture his third Super Bowl? Travis Kelce Haircut Is A Viral Trend, But Black Creators Aren’t Happy About The Coverage

A New York Times report about Travis Kelce’s haircut becoming a viral trend has left several prominent Black media members unhappy with how Kelce is being portrayed.”The NYT thinks that Travis Kelce invented the fade 🤦🏾‍♀️ When you have zero cultural competency on your staff, this is how you end up with stories like this, and explaining swag surfin,’ which is at least 15 or years old,” wrote journalist Jemele Hill on X.

As Hill noted, The Times referred to “The Fade”, a staple of Black fashion since it first grew to popularity in the militarized culture of the 1940s and 50s, as “The Travis Kelce”. And while cultural markers do grow and adopt and maybe it’s unreasonable for a 14-year-old Chiefs fan to know it’s a fade and not the Kelce, the 172-year-old New York Times should absolutely know better.

Taylor Swift Co-Opts Black Dance Moves…Again

However, as Hill mentioned, it’s not just Travis Kelce who is pushing this trend. Explainer articles about “Swag Surfin” have popped up after Swift was seen pulling the dance move at the AFC Championship Game. In this case, an article from The Sporting News called it “the Chiefs’ viral dance celebration”. Swag Surfin dates back to 2009 and the F.L.Y. song of the same name. But the co-opting of Black-created dance moves is not a new thing. The Wikipedia page for “The Griddy” features two images of white people doing the dance, despite the creator being Black and a Black NFL player have been the one to further popularize it.

Furthermore, it’s not the first time that Swift specifically has been involved in discussions of cultural appropriation. Swift received a great deal of backlash for the music video of her 2014 hit “Shake If Off”. The “joke” of the video is that Swift is trying and failing to replicate dance moves such as twerking. However, it’s much more again to lampshading – simply pointing out that the self-awareness of an action does not excuse the action itself.

Britney Spears Posts Topless Video With Kanye West Needle Drop

Britney Spears made waves earlier this week, posting a topless video to Instagram. Dress only in a pair of panties, Spears smiled at the camera while vibing to Kanye’s 2016 track “Fade”. The lowkey thirst trap was captioned “Me and Kanye” with a star eyes emoji. Now, it’s somewhat unclear if that was just a straight-up description of her vibing to Kanye’s music or something else. Of course, Kanye was been going sans clothes in recent weeks as he and his common-law wife Bianca Censori continue to tour Italy.

It’s a welcome respite for Spears, who is currently going through a divorce from husband, Sam Asghari. Asghari reportedly filed for divorce last week, citing “irreconcilable differences”. However, despite reportedly saying that he “wishes her best”, Asghari has also claimed she cheated on him and physically abused him. Furthermore, Asghari is allegedly trying to seek an agreement outside of a prenup that would see Spears give him nothing. Several outlets have reported that Asghari is threatening to release private and compromising information about Spears to achieve this.

Spears Takes Breather From Divorce Drama

It’s not the only saucy content Spears posted this week, as she also had some fun with a pole dancing video that she also posted online. However, this levity comes amid a rough period for the popstar. While Asghari is living large, Spears appears to be struggling amid the divorce. It has been reported that her support network has been reduced to just her lawyer and her manager. While fans have rallied around her, seeing Asghari as just another man trying to take Spears’ money, it appears that the pop superstar might be struggling.

Additionally, TMZ also broke the surprise story that Spears might be looking to reconcile with her estranged father, Jamie. The pair have not been close for many years, especially with Jamie serving as the executor of Spears’ conservatorship. However, Spears reportedly wants to reconnect due to her father’s ill health and a desire to not leave a clearing of the air until it is too late to do so. Jamie is reportedly undergoing surgery this week to address a serious infection that has occurred around his knee replacement. The Spears-Asghari divorce remains a developing story.
