Dallas Reportedly Interested in Bojan Bogdanovic

The Dallas Mavericks have been pretty busy in the offseason so far. At the time of writing, they have made the following moves:

  • Drafted Dereck Lively II (Duke) at #12 after trading #10 and Davis Bertans to OKC
  • Drafted Olivier-Maxence Prosper (Marquette) at #24 and acquired Richaun Holmes after trading cash to Sacramento
  • Re-signed Kyrie Irving for 3 years/$120 million
  • Completed a sign-and-trade for Grant Williams

It’s a pretty solid offseason for a team balancing the line between rebuild and contender. However, reportedly, the #10 pick nearly went to Detroit instead of OKC. If that trade had gone through, Dallas would have acquired Bojan Bogdanović as well as the #31 pick. Despite this draft day trade not going through, the Mavs are reportedly still interested in acquiring the veteran.

Mavs Eyeing Bojan

Tim McMahon of ESPN has reportedly “heard some rumblings about revisiting the Bogdanović trade.” It’s unclear who/what could be the other way but, given the prominence of his name in most Mavs rumors, it could see Tim Hardaway Jr. heading to the Pistons. Bogdanović had a great year for the Detroit Pistons. Starting 59 games, Bogdanović put up 21.6/3.8/2.6 per game. Arguably his best season since the 2019-20 campaign, Bogdanović was a veteran contributor as the Pistons continue to rebuild. Bojan would have been third in ppg for the Mavericks last season. Furthermore, his 41.1% from three would be a much-needed deep threat for the Mavericks. The problem will be whether the Mavericks are willing to pay the price that the Pistons are looking for to move Bogdanović.

Per Matt Moore of Action Network, the Detroit Pistons are looking for a first-round pick and multiple second-round picks for Bogdanović. According to Moore, this has put off any potential suitors due to being too steep. When the Pistons traded for Bogdanović in September 2022, they sent Saben Lee and Kelly Olymk to Utah in exchange for him. Granted, Bogdanović led the Pistons with a career-high points per game. However, it’s not like Bogdanović suddenly turned into an MVP. Bradley Beal had better numbers across the board than Bogdanović, but the Wizards didn’t get a first-round pick for him.

Pistons Reveal Steep Price For Bojan Bogdanovic

Bojan Bogdanović had a great year for the Detroit Pistons. Starting 59 games, Bogdanović put up 21.6/3.8/2.6 per game. Arguably his best season since the 2019-20 campaign, Bogdanović was a veteran contributor as the Pistons continue to rebuild. Despite this, the Pistons finished dead last in the Eastern Conference, winning just 17 games. While that was the worst record in the NBA, they did not win the sweepstakes for Victor Wembanyama. At the NBA Draft Lottery, the Pistons came away with the fifth-overall pick.

The team’s young core will look to climb the standings under new head coach Monty Williams. Meanwhile, Bogdanović keeps the Pistons on the hook for a team-high $19.5 million. However, it appears that the Pistons have been trying to move on from Bogdanović. Despite this, trade talks are not going well. Furthermore, fault seems to lie with the Pistons and their valuation of Bogdanović.

Bojan Bogdanović Trade Price Revealed

Per Matt Moore of Action Network, the Detroit Pistons are looking for a first-round pick and multiple second-round picks for Bogdanović. Bogdanović, who starts a two-year, $39 million extension this season, does not represent a lynchpin for the Pistons if he stays or leaves. He is the veteran leader of the Pistons’ developing young core. With some believing that Detroit could be a dark horse in the East, team expectations will be centered on big years from Jalen Duren, Ausar Thompson, Cade Cunningham, Killian Hayes, and Jalen Ivey. If the Pistons can grab some draft capital for Bogdanović, great. However, it appears they have a very unique perspective on what he’s worth.

SOURCE SPORTS: Monty Williams to Lands Largest Deal in NBA History to Coach Pistons

Isiah Thomas Delivers Surprising “Bad Boy Pistons” Hot Take

Isiah Thomas ran the ship for one of the most iconic NBA teams of the 80s. The Detroit Pistons made their mark on the league with an attitude no one could duplicate. The physicality and talent of the “Bad Boy” Pistons were significant enough to earn the team two NBA Championships. Sadly, when discussing the greatest teams in league history, the Pistons are often forgotten. The franchise earned its back-to-back titles at a time when the league was having a changing of the guard. Thomas recently spoke about the Pistons’ place in NBA history.

During an interview on All The Smoke, Thomas told show hosts Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson his feelings on the issue. Thomas stated, “What I would say, who’s been the most impactful team on the NBA, it’s the Detroit Pistons. When you look at our style of play, pick-and-roll basketball, stretch 5 in Laimbeer, small guards, you know, shooting from the perimeter. We didn’t have a post-up player. The way we influenced the game, little guys like myself, we weren’t supposed to win championships.”

Isiah Thomas Claims Pistons Are Most Influential Team

The term dynasty is for the elite. For most, the elite are franchises that have won three or more titles. The Pistons technically do not fit that description. However, it would be hard to tell the story of the NBA without mentioning the 89-90 Pistons. Those teams could arguably be the biggest adversaries to Michael Jordan’s legacy. The ‘Bad Boys’ are the reason Jordan potentially doesn’t have more than six rings. There’s a reason Jordan has noticeably had disdain for Thomas after all these years.

The Pistons were a problem for the entire league during that era. Unfortunately, their success is sandwiched between two iconic eras. However, if you’re old enough to remember or even read up on NBA history. You’ll know how important Isiah Thomas and the Detroit Pistons truly are. Thomas should be proud of his time with the Pistons and what they accomplished. A franchise that was built by toughness and pure talent. Bulls Beat Pistons at Star-Studded Paris Game

After three years, the NBA returned to Paris for a regular season game. The matchup placed the Chicago Bulls, who famously made a trip to France with the Michael Jordan-led team in 1997, against the Detroit Pistons. The modern-day Bulls, led by Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan, led the entire way to a 126-108 win.

LaVine poured in 30 points, DeRozan dropped 26, and the third piece of the Bulls Big 3, Nikola Vucevic, added 16 points, 15 rebounds, and six assists. For the Pistons, Bojan Bogdanovic dropped 25 points.

“Maybe the air up here was good for me,” LaVine said to ESPN in the postgame.

The game mirrored that of an All-Star game, as far as attendees, courtside and throughout the arena was Pharrell Williams, Magic Johnson, projected No. 1 pick Victor Wembanyama, Lil Baby, Pistons legends Ben Wallace and Rip Hamilton, Bulls legend Joakim Noah, and many more.

“I don’t want to quite compare this to All-Star,” NBA commissioner Adam Silver said, “but it’s the closest thing to a European All-Star Game that we have.”

The NBA is a growing international game. There are nine French players, the last four MVP awards have gone to international players (two each for Nikola Jokic and Giannis Antetokounmpo), and four of the league’s best scorers – Luka Doncic, Joel Embiid, Antetokounmpo, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander – are from outside the United States.

Killian Hayes Knocks Out Mo Wagner: Watch

Killian Hayes is a player who has had a few struggles since entering the league. Of course, all players go through growing pains, although for a team like the Detroit Pistons, they need all the help they can get. It has been a rough go for this team, however, Hayes has shown some improvement.

Last night, Hayes found himself the center of attention, albeit for all of the wrong reasons. While playing against the Orlando Magic at home, Hayes punched Wagner in the back of the head after being pushed out of bounds. Subsequently, Wagner was knocked out and keeled over on the Pistons bench.

Overall, it was a very shocking scene as numerous Magic players jumped off the bench to start a fight. It was almost a Malice at the Palace situation, however, it was eventually broken up. Now, numerous players could be facing some huge suspensions.

Killian Hayes Ejected

Following the altercation, Hayes and Wagner were both ejected from the match. Additionally, the PA announcer made sure to tell people that if they got up, they could be arrested. They did not want the fans to start any sort of revolt and make things worse.

The NBA has a lot to think about over the coming days. Some suspensions are certainly in order here. After all, it is not every day that one of its players just straight up gets knocked out in the middle of a game.

This is currently a developing situation, so stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the basketball world. Additionally, let us know what you think of this situation, down in the comments section below.
