Jay Rock Says New Album Is All Hits: “No Skips”

Jay Rock is almost ready to drop hit latest rap album, which has been five years coming. Why has this album taken so long? According to Jay, speaking with Bootleg Kev at BET Weekend on Saturday, “…I’m tryna do an album like my last one where you ain’t gotta skip sh*t. No skips.” (The pandemic is also a solid excuse.) He understands the fans clamoring for more music, but Jay Rock is a perfectionist and wants to release good tunes, not mediocre vibes.

He’s looking to drop a major album that screams quality, something Jay Rock fans can appreciate. He released his first single from the tracklist, “Eastside,” earlier today. While that’s a little taste of what’s to come, it slakes the thirst of those waiting for the follow-up to 2018’s Redemption. That album had features from Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Future, Jeremih, and SZA. It also debuted at number 13 on the Billboard 200 and one track, “King’s Dead,” won the Grammy for Best Rap Performance in 2018. Therefore, there’s plenty of expectation surrounding the new album.

Jay Rock New Music… Finally!

Despite the release hiatus, the TDE rapper is keeping busy. Top Dawg Entertainment, the independent record label, houses an entire family of rap kings and queens. Back in 2019, Jay Rock mentioned how all of their success raises each of their ships. “We came up from the ground up,” he said. “We built this thing from the ground up, so why would one of us be bitter [at] one another?” With Kendrick, SZA, and ScHoolboy Q running the TDE show with Jay, they’re just getting started with taking the rap industry by storm.

While we wait for Untitled Jay Rock Album, at least he’s getting out of the house and gracing us with his presence. He went to the 2023 BET Awards. Plus, he featured on multiple records for other musical artists. With friendly competition and hard work, he’s stayed in the conversation. But now, a new album full of Jay Rock music is just what the doctor ordered.

Conway The Machine Says He Dealt With “Severe Anxiety” At His Album Release Party

Conway The Machine says that he’s become a “recluse” and dealt with “severe anxiety” while attending his album release party for Won’t He Do It. Appearing on Math Hoffa’s My Expert Opinion podcast, he explained that he hasn’t been the same in social situations since getting shot in 2012.

“I don’t know because I’m just a recluse. I’ll be like just dolo to myself,” he said. “I think that came from getting shot.” He added that he doesn’t enjoy going to clubs or partying anymore: “So I’m looking at clubs like, ‘I don’t go out man. I ain’t going to that party, I ain’t going to that event, I don’t want to do that anymore. ‘What time the interview? 10:30? Naw, I’m good bro. I’m chilling, I’m already inside.’”

Elsewhere in the interview, Conway noted that much of the trauma he dealt with from the shooting remained unresolved until he started therapy. “I stay to myself and work in the shadows. I hate videos, I hate pictures and cameras and shit,” Conway said. “Speaking with a therapist and she made me realize ‘you haven’t healed yet.’”

Conway further admitted that he even began to doubt his place in hip-hop. “This shit look like n****s aint fucking with me. Because I don’t get outside. Not because I can’t, I just don’t,” he said, while adding that “the love was definitely felt” at his Won’t He Do It release party. “I was having severe anxiety about that night,” he added. “But then I pulled up and seen all the love, everybody had pulled up.”

Chloe Bailey Slams Critics Amid Low Album Sales

Chloe Bailey has been the target of vicious social media critique following the release of her album. This week it was revealed that her solo debut, “In Pieces” only brought in 10,000 in sales during its first week. It came in at #119 on the weekly Billboard 200. With features from Chris Brown, Missy Elliott, and Future, the album seemed promising. Critics have not been kind to the pop star and she is finally firing back at her critics.

During her performance Tuesday night, the Chloe x Halle star stopped her set to speak directly to the audience. The 24-year-old thanked them for their support of her album before going in on everyone who has had something negative to say about her. “F**k what the f**k everybody gotta say,” she said to a cheering crowd. The singer has been gracious up until this point. However, her reaction is warranted.

Chloe Bailey Has Been Plagued With Criticism Since Going Solo

Aside from her music, the Beyonce protege has been the subject of bullying for her acting roles. She appeared in a sex scene in Amazon’s Swarm alongside Damson Idris. However, she endured the bulk of the backlash. Bailey responded that she was simply doing her job. She has also been accused of dating “Praise This” co-star Quavo simply because they were photographed together on the red carpet. Bailey has since denied this, but rumors continue to plague the young woman. Some have even linked her to rapper Future.

Many have also taken aim at Beyonce and Bailey’s label for failing to push “In Pieces” more. She is signed to Columbia Records and Parkwood Entertainment, which is led by Mrs. Carter. Many also question why the album appeared rushed. The rollout appeared limited, with only one lead single, “How Does It Feel” alongside Brown. That single didn’t make much noise. If anything, it angered her fanbase, who accused her of working with an abuser. The Guardian says even the impressive features fail to “add much spark.” Rolling Stone referred to it as an “uneven listen.” Bailey recently shared her theory on the backlash. She believes that those coming at her were never fans of Chloe x Halle, so they do not understand the artistry. Either way, it is refreshing to see Bailey pushing through, despite so much hate online.
