It was only a matter of time. The New York Times initially reported that President Joe Biden’s campaign is now exploring head-to-head matchups between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump, this according to a source familiar with the newly announced unofficial strategy, who spoke with ABC News under anonymity.

This is a big deal and the tactical shift comes amid increasing scrutiny and calls from more high profile Democrats for Biden to consider stepping down from his 2024 reelection bid.

What ya’ll think? VP Harris or nah? No brainer – if Biden drops out, YES!

Get this, the insider explained that the move is a direct response to Trump’s recent attacks on VP Harris during his public statements and speeches:

“Donald Trump shifted his stump speech. We’d be dumb not to adjust,” the source told ABC News. “We obviously pay close attention to what he is saying.”

If you care about polling, a recent ABC News/Washington Post/Ipsos poll reveals that Biden and Trump remain nearly tied, with 46-47% of Americans split between the two if the election were held today.

But in a not so close poll, two-thirds of Americans, including many of Biden’s supporters, believe he should not run for another term. Concerning Biden’s age, 85% of respondents consider him too old for a second term, a slight increase from April.

If you’re a democrat and are supporting democracy, sorry we had to say it, if VP Harris were to replace Biden as the Democratic nominee, the poll indicates she would lead Trump 49-46% among all adults and 49-47% among registered voters.

Visibly on the campaign trail, VP Harris has been actively defending Biden. As the Vice President should. Marching orders are clear. Unity from the top down.

While speaking at an outreach event for Asian American voters on Tuesday, VP Harris acknowledged the challenges of the election. “Now, we always knew this election would be tough,” she said. “And the past few days have been a reminder that running for president of the United States is never easy.”

“But the one thing we know about our President Joe Biden, is that he is a fighter, and he is the first to say, ‘when you get knocked down you get back up,’” the VP added. Sounds presidential to us? What say you?
