Ariana Grande Asks Fans To Refrain From Commenting On Her Body, Coi Leray Comes To Her Defense

Ariana Grande has become the target of nasty internet trolling in recent days after new photos of her surfaced online. Fans and cyberbullies alike have expressed concern over her thinner-than-usual appearance. Some have pointed to anorexia, while others have claimed she may be suffering from a more serious illness. Grande has been away from the spotlight recently while filming Wicked in London. The backlash became so bad, that the singer was forced to defend herself.

In a TikTok video, the 29-year-old explained that she is currently the healthiest she’s ever been. People have been posting side-by-side pictures, comparing her looks to that of her “Sweetener” era. However, Grande said that during that time period, she was experiencing the “unhealthiest version” of her body.  The star admitted that she was on antidepressants during that time and not eating right. Much of this can be attributed to the trauma she has faced in recent years. In 2014, she suffered a great loss when her grandfather passed away. Three years later in 2017, 22 concertgoers were killed by a suicide bomber following her concert at Britain’s Manchester Arena. Then in 2018, her former boyfriend Mac Miller passed away from a drug overdose. Needless to say, she has seen her share of trauma.

Ariana Grande Has Endured A Lot These Past Few Years

While addressing the nasty comments, Grande appeared bare-faced in a hoodie. Unlike some stars, she made no attempt to be glammed up in her speech. Instead, she invited everyone to refrain from commenting on strangers’ bodies. This call to action has been felt across the industry for years. A big push to be nice towards celebrities’ image occurred shortly before the death of Chadwick Boseman, who battled cancer privately. Sadly, not everyone has practiced being kinder, something Grande is now a victim of.

Rapper Coi Leray jumped to Grande’s defense. In a tweet, she wrote “Ariana ain’t told no lies.” Leray has also been the victim of intense scrutiny over her small frame. Cyberbullies have made an extensive amount of memes since she first came onto the scene with her hit record “No More Parties.” After defending Grande, she even invited her to jump on a new track titled, “Body.”
