Michael Jordan Signed “Flu Game” Sneakers Sell For Huge Price At Auction

Michael Jordan is one of the most famous athletes in the history of the world. Overall, he has delivered some truly iconic moments in the sports world. Of course, many of these moments took place in the 90s when he won all of his six titles. Although every single title was special, his fifth in 1997 was pretty amazing. He and the Chicago Bulls knocked out the Utah Jazz in six games. However, in Game 5, Jordan battled through food poisoning and dropped a whopping 38 points.

At the time, this was a huge accomplishment that was nicknamed the “Flu Game.” Moreover, the Air Jordan 12 “Bred” colorway he was wearing at the time got the very same nomenclature. Since that time, Jordan Brand has sought to give fans a ton of retros of this model. As TMZ reports, Goldin Auctions has just sold the game-worn Jordan 12s from that infamous game. Yes, that’s right, one lucky bidder now has THE “Flu Game” sneaker that Jordan used in Game 5 of the ’97 Finals.

Michael Jordan Shoes Get Huge Price Tag

As Ken Goldin explained to the outlet, these shoes sold for a massive price of $1.38 million. This is truly huge for a sneaker, however, it still isn’t the largest sale for a shoe worn by Michael Jordan. Instead, a sneaker from his final NBA Finals sold for more. That said, this is still a historic sale that probably made the lucky winner very happy. However, their wallet is probably feeling some immediate effects right now.

This latest sale truly begs the question of how much higher can these prices go. At this point, it seems like memorabilia will just continue to climb in price. Unfortunately, there isn’t much that fans can even do about it at this point. Let us know your thoughts on this most recent sale, in the comments section down below.
