Stephen A. Smith is bringing the fire with his latest hot take. On Thursday, the First Take crew discussed the future of Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard. While discussing potential destinations for Lillard, Smith had one place in mind. That place is in Philadelphia with the 76ers. While the Sixers may not currently discuss the matter of bringing in Lillard. However, the thought of bringing in the superstar is certainly tempting. For Smith, the answer is easy if the possibility is real. Even if it means losing James Harden in the process.
“I would take Damian Lillard over James Harden in a heartbeat. I wouldn’t think twice if I was Philly and I can get my hands on Dame, and I had to forfeit Harden — I’m not talking about trading, if he walked out the door — so be it,” Smith stated when discussing Lillard. The Portland guard would be a franchise changer for anyone who gets his services. Lillard averaged thirty-two points and seven assists per game this season. Recently the NBA All-Star has begun voicing his displeasure with how things are going in Portland.
Stephen A. Smith Would Move On From Harden For Lillard
While Lillard would be a massive addition for the Sixers. However, Harden has played great for Philadelphia this season. Harden averaged ten assists per game this regular season. Furthering the point that the former league MVP works well with a potential MVP in Joel Embiid. It seems that Harden has finally accepted the role of being number two. Which has benefited the Sixers, as the team is a top-three seed in the Eastern Conference.
James Harden rumors are not what Philadelphia wants to hear at this moment. The team is in a good place as they look to reach the NBA Finals. However, it looks like there could be a decision for the franchise in the near future. Would Lillard be a good fit with the Sixers?
