Former graffiti artist-turned hip hop mover and shaker DJ Kay Slay is not done with his epic Rolling Deep series. Now the Harlem native is being honored with the release of the biggest posse cut in Hip-Hop history. The track titled “Rolling 200 Deep,” the track is broken into 16 parts totaling 62 minutes and features 200 rappers.

Snoop Dogg, Ice-T, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, AZ, Run-DMC, Bun B, Big Daddy Kane, Coke La Rock, Kid Capri, Goodie Mob, B-Real, Memphis Bleek, Twista, E-40, Jim Jones, MC Serch, NEMS and Papoose are a few of the MC’s featured on the track. “Rolling 200 Deep” is the fourth installment in DJ Kay Slay’s Rolling Deep series, following Rolling 25 Deep (2005) Rolling 50 Deep (2020) and Rolling 110 Deep (2021).

On this date in 2007, Jay-Z released his American Gangster album, which also served as the soundtrack to the movie of the same name with Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe.

It was a conceptual album that was inspired by the film of the same name. The album spawned hits like “I Know”, “Roc Boys (And The Winner Is)”, and “Blue Magic”. Guest features include Idris Elba, Lil Wayne, Beanie Sigel, and Nas. The album features production from Diddy, The Neptunes, Just Blaze, and The Hitmen.

American Gangster debuted at number one on Billboard 200, selling 425,861 copies in the first week. This album tied Jigga with Elvis Presley for second-most number one albums. It was a commercial success and viewed as a good follow-up from Hov’s 2006 album Kingdom Come.

Emerging artist Tyla has become a social media sensation, amassing over one million Instagram followers since her debut single, “Water,” made its way into the Billboard Hot 100 chart and ignited a viral TikTok dance challenge.

A recent study by NetInfluencer analyzed Tyla’s social media metrics, shedding light on the remarkable growth in her following since the release of “Water.” The 21-year-old artist’s Instagram following witnessed a meteoric rise of 1.5 million since the single’s launch on July 28th. This surge was primarily fueled by the viral dance challenge associated with the track, which attracted an impressive 600,000 new Instagram and 200,000 TikTok followers within the first month.

Tyla’s TikTok account, @Tyla_, saw a staggering 3.8 million new followers joining since August, leading to a significant spike in her estimated earnings per post, now reaching an astonishing $11,800.

“Water” entered the Billboard Hot 100 chart in October, further accelerating Tyla’s social media ascent. During this period, she acquired an additional 865,000 Instagram followers, surging from 1.4 million to an impressive 2.3 million followers, averaging 30,000 new followers daily.

This surge in followers has translated into enhanced earning potential, with Tyla now estimated to earn approximately $5,860 per sponsored Instagram post, based on her substantial follower count and an impressive 16.19% engagement rate.

“Rarely do you see a new artist make a worldwide impact such as Tyla, having already made a historic entry with Water, reaching the top 10 on the Billboard Global 200,” a NetInfluencer spokesperson said. “TikTok played a significant role in its success, with social media analytics revealing the singer rapidly gained followers and entered the global charts after going viral. This could lead other artists to try to replicate Tyla’s social media success, to which TikTok contributed greatly. It will be interesting to see what the singer does next to build on her rising fame”.

Notably, Tyla’s Instagram followers now include celebrities such as Naomi Campbell, Drake, and Chance the Rapper.

“Water” has cemented its place as one of the most popular songs on TikTok in the last 30 days, and with over 117 million Spotify plays, it can potentially earn the artist nearly $471,000, based on the average earnings per stream.

Tyla has carved her name into history as the youngest South African artist in over 50 years to grace the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Ms. Lauryn Hill has a message for those who speak about her tardiness to show: “y’all are lucky.” Hitting the stage in Los Angeles, where she was also a bit tardy, Hill delivered a proper statement.

“Yo, y’all lucky I make it on this blood ras stage every night,” Hill said. “I don’t do it because they let me do it. I do it because I stand here in the name of God and I do it. God is the one who allows me to do it, who surrounded me with family and community when there was no support.”

Last week, Ms. Lauryn Hill postponed another tour on her 25th-anniversary tour to celebrate The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. The living legend announced she was under doctor’s orders to rest her voice and had to push back the Fort Worth, TX date.

“As you may know, I’ve been doing my best to overcome a serious case of vocal strain/injury over the past week or so,” Hill wrote in a tweet. “I fought through the last couple shows, pushing my voice, and masking the injury with medication. This isn’t safe or sustainable. I woke up this morning hoping to have enough voice to get through tonight, but I can barely talk let alone sing or rap.”

She added, “I need to heal and rest the voice in order to continue the tour. For these reasons, sadly, my doctors have advised me to postpone tonight’s show. Much love to all of you for your support, and I look forward to coming back to Texas soon.”

Last month, Ms. Lauryn Hill postponed her Philadelphia show at the recommendation of her doctors.

“It is with disappointment that I am writing this note to you. On the advice of my physicians, I have no choice but to postpone the show tomorrow,” Hill wrote. “I need to rest my voice to prevent any more serious strain or damage to my vocal cords.”

After a triumphant headline set at the Global Citizen Festival with a surprise appearance by the Fugees, 5-time Grammy winner Lauryn Hill is extending her The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill 25th Anniversary Tour due to overwhelming demand. New dates added to the tour include Vancouver, San Francisco, Detroit, St. Louis, Atlanta, Nashville, Charlotte, Tampa, Miami, and Boston. Meanwhile, the Brooklyn, Washington DC, Chicago, LA Kia Forum, Oakland, and Seattle shows are already sold out.

“I’ve almost felt compelled to carry a torch or to keep a light shining regarding the continual performance of the Miseducation album. DJ Kool Herc had the tears flowing during his Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction. Presented by LL COOL J, Herc was joined by his sister Cindy Campbell, marking an essential moment for Hip-Hop in its 50th year.

Kool Herc moved to the Bronx from Kingston, Jamaica, when he was 12 years old and took on the name “Kool Herc” when he became a member of the graffiti crew, the “Ex-Vandals.” The name is short for ‘Hercules’ because of his 6′ 4″ stature. He began DJing parties that he and his sister Cindy threw in their building, which was on 1520 Sedgewick Avenue(Sedgewick & Cedar) in the South Bronx.

Herc pioneered extending the breakbeat on records by playing the same record on two turntables and cueing the “break” in the record, which he noticed had the most significant effect on the dancers at the parties. This was emulated all over the NYC area during the 1970s, thus spawning the culture of Hip Hop. He coined the terms “B-Boys” and “B-Girls” for the dancers who were “breaking,” which Herc says was street slang for “acting energetically” or “causing a disturbance.”

Kool Herc has influenced other founding pioneers of Hip Hop culture, including Afrika Bambaataa, Grandmaster Flash, and the Sugarhill Gang. Congrats to Kool Herc on his induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Kenya Moore And Kandi Burrus Speak On RHOA Replacement Rumors: ‘We Are Irreplaceable’

This weekend, the annual BravoCon in Las Vegas was the talk of the town hosting Bravo reality stars and fans. For months there have been rumors that Bravo was planning a total reboot for The Real Housewives of Atlanta and wiping the slate clean to make room for new housewives. Kandi Burruss and Kenya Moore spoke with ET online and spoke on the rumors.

ET online reports:

Speaking with ET’s Brice Sander at BravoCon in Las Vegas on Friday, Burruss shared her thoughts on the possibility of a total reboot for RHOA, saying, “Oh, you mean like a total reboot? No, I don’t. I feel like it’s hard enough for them to find one new person a year or two new people a year, to find a whole entire cast. That’s my personal opinion, but you know, hey, they could try.”

Moore added her perspective, declaring, “I would like to just say for the record, we are irreplaceable, okay, period.” Burruss chimed in, highlighting the enduring appeal of her and Moore, saying, “The cool thing about us is that no matter what, you’re always going to see us. We keep it going, and we keep it poppin’. We always have something going on. So, I just respect the franchise in itself. I’ve seen people come and go, or whatever, so I don’t have anything to really say about whether they choose to do it, but you asked me if I think it can be done as a total rebuild, and my answer is no.”

In August, a source told ET, “A major shakeup is coming to The Real Housewives of Atlanta. Before the women filmed their recent reunion, they were told that they should expect a big change with the franchise moving forward.”

The source added, “They hinted at a reboot like New York got, but it also could be moving forward with only a couple of the current stars. The cast is on edge about their future and has no idea where the network plans to go. Although their ratings are still strong, the network is listening to fans and their desire for a change.”

A second source, however, told ET no decisions have been made and likely won’t be made until after the reunion airs.

Joe Budden Confirms He Was Punched, but Not Jumped During Night Out

Joe Budden has nothing for the belief he was jumped over the weekend. Rumors swirled online that Budden was jumped at a New York Strip club. This follows a separate alleged attack connected to his commentary on the real estate controversy of DJ Envy and Cesar Pina.

On Saturday’s edition of The Joe Budden Podcast, Budden revealed that he was approached by a man at a lounge with bear spray. Budden was out with a friend and stated he was warned by the bartender about the behavior of men in the building. Footage surfaced online of the event. Budden states the man behind the camera was Pina’s brother.

After what is believed to be another night out, the rumors of Budden being jumped swirled. Budden’s friend, Tony “The Closer” Robinson, tweeted to shut down the rumors.

“I just heard from Joe Budden he good y’all be hype as shit to say he got jumped,” Robinson wrote. “Like what world we celebrate n***as jumping n***as. He ain’t have a scratch on his face don’t know who he got into it with but he definitely didn’t look like he got jumped.”

Tony shared that this event had nothing to do with Envy and Pina’s case.

Joe would also speak on the issue on Instagram Live with QueenzFlip. “Nigga socked back and popped me one good time but that was it,” Budden said. “I told y’all I eat a punch well, but now we gotta go.”

CJ McCollum Reacts To Ridiculous Photo Choice Following Collapsed Lung Injury

CJ McCollum is a player who has been doing some pretty amazing things for the New Orleans Pelicans. Overall, he is someone who has the ability to change the course of a game. In fact, the Pelicans are off to a hot start this season, largely thanks to McCollum. He has been averaging over 21 points per game and the team is now 4-2. However, he will have to miss some time with the team as he was recently diagnosed with a collapsed lung.

McCollum has suffered this in the past, which made this latest news that much harder for some to swallow. However, he seems to be in good spirits and will be reevaluated in just a couple of days. Needless to say, it is a good thing that they were able to catch this when they did. That being said, one NBA Twitter account used an interesting photo when delivering the news. Below, you can see that McCollum is holding his heart in the picture, where a lung would be. You can see the connection in that.

“This is an insane pic to post with the news,” McCollum said on Twitter. His reaction to the tweet was pretty appropriate given the circumstances at play here. Regardless, McCollum will be back on the floor sooner rather than later. Not to mention, the Pelicans have been rolling thanks to performances from him and Zion Williamson. If you are a Pelicans fan, the future is most definitely bright. However, if the team cannot stay healthy, then you may well have quite a few issues trying to sure up some good results this season.
