Adult Swim Teases “Rick & Morty” Season 5 With Soulja Boy’s Freestyle

Soulja Boy’s love for Fortnite and Rick and Morty has landed him in a teaser for the season five premiere of the cartoon series. A TikTok was reposted to Adult Swim’s Instagram featuring Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith alongside an animated Soulja Boy as his newly-released “Rick and Morty” freestyle plays in the background. Soulja’s latest song was released after the impromptu freestyle from his Twitch stream went viral.

The Twitch clip of Soulja Boy freestyling while his Fortnite character, Rick Sanchez, dances is as bizarre as it is hilarious. The crossover between Rick and Morty and Fortnite was highly anticipated by both fans who adore the TV series and Fortnite players who wanted to make fun of the unusual collaboration. Soulja boy didn’t seem to mind, though, and his subsequent freestyle landed him a placement for the show’s recent announcement. The caption pokes fun at Soulja Boy’s ‘did it first’ motto. “He and that guy from Fortnite did it first,” it reads.

The fifth season of Rick and Morty finds the show taking a new direction plot-wise as the lead characters mature. Morty is said to have a new breadth of intelligence and capability behind him, as opposed to Rick who now fulfills the more anxious role. Season five will come with the introduction of a new nemesis for the gang, or a recurring nemesis for time-traveling Rick, in the form of watery Mr. Nimbus. The flamboyant take on Marvel’s “Namor the Submariner” is said to cause problems for the two throughout the season or at least through the second story.

Are you tuning in tomorrow night for the premiere? Check out the teaser and the freestyle below:

Lil Baby Purchased An Entire Store Of Sneakers For Families In His Hometown

Lil Baby has often lent a helping hand to his community. The latest example came when the Atlanta native stopped by a Foot Locker store in his hometown to purchase the store’s entire collection of sneakers, planning to give them all away. The act was captured on video and it showed Lil Baby and a number of store employees walking out of the store with several bags of sneakers in hand. After the video made its rounds on social media, the rapper hopped on Instagram to explain his motivations behind the act and reveal other plans for the future.

“Buying shoes ain’t what I mean by saving [my] community or giving back!!” he wrote. “That was some sh*t I did cause I seen a lot of them had on flip flops. When I say save [my] community, I mean centers, programs, jobs. You can’t imagine the sh*t I don’t post…”

The good deed comes weeks after the rapper accompanied the family of the late George Floyd for a trip to The White House, where he spoke with President Joe Biden about passing the George Floyd Police Act bill. Prior to that, he launched The Bigger Picture initiative, which gifted 1,000 coats to residents of Birmingham, Alabama.

Lou From Paradise & Statik Selektah Declare “Not Dead Yet!” On New Project

Lou From Paradise, formerly known as Lou The Human, has been a rising force in the underground since the release of 2017’s Humaniac. Though he’s gone on to release other projects, like 2019’s Painkiller Paradise, the rapper returned with a special treat on Friday in the form of a new collaborative EP. Lou teams up with Statik Selektah for their new joint project, Not Dead Yet! The six-song project has a run-time of a little over 15 minutes. Though short, Lou is still rapping his ass off on every single track. Statik’s production is top-tier, as usual, bringing an influence of horror into his signature soulful production.

LeBron James Recalls Fond Memories Of The 2016 NBA Finals

In 2016, LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers found themselves with their backs against the wall during the NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors. They were down 3-1 in the series and they were getting badly outplayed by a Warriors team that had just come off of a 73-9 regular season. Despite this deficit, LeBron led his troops to a massive comeback for the ages that ultimately got him his third championship and the first-ever title for the Cavaliers.

Recently, SLAM magazine tweeted a hoops mixtape that showcases some of the best plays from the seven-game thriller, and LeBron James just so happened to stumble across it. This led to a bit of reminiscing from the Lakers star, who grew up in Ohio and made it his mission to bring his hometown a championship.

“Cant find a better one than this. This is the COLDEST mixtape of all time!!! A season-long of highlights in just 7 games! ELITE players from both sides making insane plays,” LeBron wrote.

Since 2016, LeBron has been able to maintain his high level of play, and just last year, he took the Lakers to the title. Meanwhile, the Cavaliers have struggled mightily since LeBron left, and now, they are a fixture at the bottom of the standings.

Either way, 2016 was special and it’s a year that Cavs fans will never forget.

Macy Gray Wants To Abandon “Incorrect” American Flag

Outspoken singer Macy Gray has outlined one important step in improving racial anxiety in the country: changing the American flag. In an op-ed published to MarketWatch for Juneteenth, Gray referred to the flag as “tattered, dated, divisive, and incorrect” before presenting her own updated version of the flag that better represents all members of society with emphasis on the minority struggle.

 Jason Merritt/Getty Images

“Like the Confederate, it is tattered, dated, divisive, and incorrect. It no longer represents democracy and freedom. It no longer represents ALL of us. It’s not fair to be forced to honor it. It’s time for a new flag,” Gray wrote. By evoking images of the January 6th insurrection, where participants were draped in American flags, Gray wrote directly to politicians and patriots who never want to see a democratic attack like that happen again. She explained that those who would’ve previously used the Confederate flag to display their overt racism now use the American flag to hide malicious intent behind false patriotism.

The new flag that the singer designed maintains the original template of the American flag though with some minor changes. Gray’s flag has 52 white stars instead of 50 in conjunction with Puerto Rico and Washington D.C.’s continued failed attempts at becoming states, which she explained carried discriminatory undertones.

“There are 50, where there should be 52. D.C. and Puerto Rico have been lobbying for statehood for decades. Both have been denied, since statehood would allow each territory’s elected officials seats in the house,” she wrote. “Assuming D.C. reps would be African-American and Puerto Rican reps would be Hispanic, the ultimate assumption is that these elected officials would be Democratic. That alone is racist.”

The stars on Gray’s proposed flag are multicolored and represents the melanin scale to represent “your skin tone and mine.” Finally, the white stripes that represent purity are changed to an off-white as a reminder of the country’s racist past.

Suffice it to say, Gray’s take on the flag brought on very mixed reactions. Do you think the flag needs to be updated? Is Gray’s flag the one we need?

Boosie Badazz Punishes His Kids & Makes Them Walk Around His Estate For 5Hrs

When it comes to parenting, there’s no clear-cut way to handle it. Some parents like Cardi B and Offset prefer to completely spoil their little ones, treating them to anything their little hearts desire. Some parents like Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis instead choose to not gift their children in order to keep them humble.

Punishment is also another major point of contention for different parents. Boosie Badazz took to social media on Thursday (June 17) to let his followers in on how he disciplines his children. Sharing footage of himself during the ordeal, the Baton Rouge rapper punished his children for throwing water on friends and relatives who have visited his Louisiana property.

“I wanna let everybody know, all my family, my cousins, y’all can come stay at my house, bruh,” Boosie began in the clip. “Ain’t gon’ be no more water throwed on you by my kids. I know they been out of control, but I’m blues’ing them today. You see ’em? They walking the fence line. You see ’em?”

Nets Vs. Bucks Game 7 Goes Down Tonight: How To Watch

When the Brooklyn Nets took a 2-0 lead over the Milwaukee Bucks in the second round of the NBA playoffs, many felt like the Bucks were finished. Giannis Antetokounmpo was missing a ton of shots and players like Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday just looked soft. In Games 3 and 4, that all changed as all three of those players stepped up and helped tie the series. The Brooklyn Nets were also dealt a horrific hand as Kyrie Irving suffered an ankle injury that has kept him out of the rest of the series.

Games 5 and 6 were an even split between the Bucks and the Nets, and now, we are about to have ourselves a Game 7, in Brooklyn. The first spot in the Eastern Conference Finals is on the line, and for players like Kevin Durant and Giannis Antetokounmpo, this is a game that could very well define their legacies.

2 NYC Children Narrowly Missed After A Gunman Shoots A Man In Front Of Them

Gun violence has been an ongoing issue in the United States. Major cities like Atlanta, Chicago, and New York City have all reported an increase in gun violence in their cities, with some attributing the increase of violence to the easing of COVID-19 restrictions as summertime arrives.

In a new heinous gun-related crime, a 24-year-old man was shot in broad daylight in the Bronx on Thursday (June 17) right in front of two children, who were narrowly missed during the ordeal. The two children, who were on the way to the corner store to buy candy, were trampled as the victim attempted to flee from the assailant.

At least a dozen shots were fired by the black-masked human as he repeatedly fired at his fallen target, who knocked down a 10-year-old girl and her 5-year-old brother as he tried to escape. While being entangled with the kids, the gunman continued to fire, just narrowly missing the children.

The 5-year-old boy’s legs can be seen shaking in fear at one point before his older sister protectively shielded him from the violence. Miraculously, neither child was hit during the bloodshed. The incident occurred right before 7 pm near Mt. Eden Parkway. According to law enforcement, the shooter then fled on a scooter.

The victim was shot three times, once in the back and once in each leg, and was transported to nearby Bronx Lebanon Hospital. According to cops, he’s expected to survive. Incidents of gun violence in the borough have doubled so far this year compared to the same period in 2020. Friends of the kids’ family say they’re hoping to raise enough money so the traumatized kids and their family can move.

The parents of the children noted they were too afraid to file a complaint in the case. Police are hoping that the footage of the incident can lead to an arrest.
