Snoop Dogg Can’t Believe He Thought Drake Wasn’t Going To Last

In a 2020 episode of Snoop Dogg’s GGN podcast, the “Gin And Juice” rapper admitted to guest Michael Rapoport that, when Drake first came onto the scene, he thought the Toronto rapper would be out of the game in just a couple of years.

“When Drake first came out, I was like, ‘He just gon’ be here and gone tomorrow.’ Because I was like, I keep hearing basic shit,” Snoop said, before breaking down why the Certified Lover Boy rapper became the biggest rapper in the game.

“That muthaf*cka don’t miss. In the heat of battle, he don’t miss. In the heat of controversy, he don’t miss. And then he just knows how to be a public relation type of muthaf*cka to shoot a video where he passing out money … Come on, man. That n***a made, ‘Kiki, do you love me?’ when Pusha T took off on him. Like, ‘You can have my head, but I’m gonna have everybody in your family and everybody in the world singing this fucking, ‘Kiki, do you love me?’ Like, that’s the answer,” Snoop explained.

In a recent appearance on Complex‘s “360 with Speedy Morman,” Snoop re-visited his comments on The Six God, and made it even clearer how he feels about Drizzy today.

Looking back on when he thought Drake would be here today and gone tomorrow, Snoop couldn’t believe his own thought process.

“That n***a ain’t going nowhere. What was I thinking? But that’s what we do in hip-hop. We limit until somebody goes over the limit, and that’s what he did. That’s what hip-hop is, to me. He probably took all that shit in when he was hearing all that about, ‘You’re only gonna be here three or four more years,’’and was like, ‘Alright, f*ck that. Watch what I’m finna do,” Snoop told Morman. “(Drake was like), ‘I’m finna fuck these n****s up. Finna do some Michael Jackson sh*t.’ And he did that … All hail the king, you gotta give him his. He didn’t ask for it, he took that sh*t.”

Snoop, who’s upcoming album The Algorithm is set to release on November 12, also explained to Morman that Drake’s starpower and current place in hip-hop makes him feel more comfortable considering the idea of retirement and handing the keys to the rap game to somebody else.

“We always gotta have somebody to go to the next level,” Snoop said. “To me, he gives me comfort in saying that if I ever wanted to leave the game, it’s in good hands. I think that’s what my forefathers did for me when they seen me take control of the game and run with it. They was at ease.”

Drake has always gone out of his way to pay homage to those who came before him, and just one day after Drizzy called Eminem “underappreciated” and Snoop “too raw,” it was only fitting that Tha Doggfather gave him his flowers in such a major way.

Check out Snoop’s entire interview with Morman below and let us know what you think of his Drake praise down in the comments.

Fetty Wap Was Arrested At Rolling Loud On Federal Drug Charges

Before he ever got the chance to set foot on stage for his Rolling Loud set, Fetty Wap was arrested on federal drug charges Thursday afternoon at Citi Field in New York. TMZ reports that the New Jersey rapper was arrested by FBI agents on unspecified charges. NBC New York revealed that the indictment against the rapper is still under seal but that he was one of around six people charged.

Fetty had been largely out of the spotlight after 2015, when his inescapable singles “Trap Queen” and “My Way” dominated the airwaves. Since then, he’s had several run-ins with the police, including a 2017 arrest for drunk driving and a 2019 one for assault. As NBC notes, Fetty has had a rough run in the past year or so, as his brother was killed in New Jersey last year and his four-year-old daughter died earlier this year. He’d just released his new album The Butterfly Effect last week and performed at Rolling Loud in Miami earlier this year, so it seemed that he was bouncing back.

Rolling Stone notes that Fetty Wap — whose real name is William Junior Maxwell II — will be arraigned later today at a Central Islip federal court. Fetty’s absence was noted by fans at Rolling Loud, but apparently remained unexplained for concert-goers.

Big Sean Parts Ways With Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music

Record labels all have their ebbs and flows, and at one point, Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music was one of the most stacked artist-led labels in Hip-Hop. Although Ye’s Getting Out Our Dreams imprint has housed noteworthy acts such as Common, Kid Cudi, John Legend, Mos Def, Teyana Taylor, and Desiigner, several artists have departed from the label over the years.

Now, it turns out that with the release of his new What You Expect project with Hit-Boy, so has Big Sean.

This news is likely surprising for many Hip-Hop fans because Big Sean had been signed to Kanye West since 2007, making him the longest-tenured G.O.O.D. Music artist in the label’s history. Under the label, Sean Don released his breakout Finally Famous mixtape series, his first five studio albums, the acclaimed 2012 Detroit mixtape, and his collaborative albums with Jhené Aiko and Metro Boomin.

Eagle-eyed fans may have noticed Big Sean’s departure from G.O.O.D. at midnight when What You Expect first became available to stream, as the album is credited to FF To Def Entertainment, which according to HipHopDX, is the Detroit rapper’s new imprint with Def Jam. Moments after the Hit-Boy-produced project released, Sean confirmed his exit from Ye’s label on Twitter.

“By the way this the first project where I’m on my own label as well, no more lil dawg shit!!!!” Big Sean announced. “I bossed up! #DONLIFE.”

Naturally, one fan was upset that Sean had become the latest artist to leave G.O.O.D. Music, but the “Loyal To A Fault” rapper reassured his followers that there is no bad blood between him and Ye’s camp. “That’s a forever brotherhood, but business wise, I had to start getting a bigger cut!” Big Sean explained. “I worked my way out that deal.”

Fetty Wap Arrested On Federal Drug Charges At Rolling Loud: Report

This weekend, Hip-Hop fans from all over the world are flocking to New York for Rolling Loud Music Festival. The line-up includes huge names like 50 Cent, J. Cole, Travis Scott, Lil Uzi Vert, and more. Unfortunately for fans, one name on this year’s list didn’t quite make it to their set.

According to TMZ, ”My Way” rapper Fetty Wap was taken into custody by the FBI at Citi Field and allegedly arrested on federal drug charges. Specifics of the incident have yet to be released, but we do know that the 30-year-old didn’t make it onto the Rolling Loud stage. According to CP24, Fetty will be arraigned on the charges later today.

The article also points out that this isn’t his first arrest – the New Jersey native was arrested and charged with a DUI in November of 2017 after police reportedly caught him drag racing on a New York City highway. Just two years later, he was nabbed in Las Vegas after allegedly assaulting three hotel employees at a casino.

Prior to this incident, things seemed to be on the up and up for Fetty Wap. He recently released a new album, titled The Butterfly Effect, which received tons of praise from listeners on Twitter. Some even compared the music to what the “679” hitmaker was releasing when he was at his peak back in 2015 and 2016.

As TMZ notes, Rolling Loud night one was packed with plenty of entertainment, despite Fetty’s no-show. 50 Cent made a controversial decision in bringing out DaBaby, who previously made problematic, homophobic comments during his set at Rolling Loud Miami.

Stay tuned to HNHH for any and all updates on Fetty Wap’s New York arrest.

Curren$y Teams Up With Harry Fraud For “Regatta”

New Orleans rapper Curren$y has always been lauded for his prolific work ethic

In an era when new rappers are expected to drop at least once a year, the 40-year-old rap game veteran blows a lot of the newer generation out of the water. Just this year, Curren$y has dropped numerous projects, including his most recent effort, Regatta, an eight-track collaboration with Brooklyn, NY producer Harry Fraud.

Back in September, the “Jet Life” rapper announced he was in the midst of a seven mixtape run that would conclude by 2021. Releasing Highest In Charge on August 27, Matching Rolexes on September 17, Still Stoned On Ocean on October 8 and Regatta today, on October 29, Curren$y has dropped four times in just over two months, and this new Harry Fraud project might be his best effort.

Regatta‘s production, handled exclusively by Fraud, is groovy and heavily inspired by the 70s and 80s. Every beat is tailor made for Curren$y and is Fraud at his best. Using sounds and samples rarely used by other, contemporary producers, the Saaab Stories producer flexes every bit of his talent and builds perfect environments for Spitta to spit exactly the way he’s supposed to, and features from 2 Chainz, Larry June, Jay Worthy and Styles P highlight Regatta and flow seamlessly with Curren$y’s endless verses and quick-witted bars.

From “Willy & Sal” to “Key West Classic,” Regatta is the quintessential Curren$y project and is perfect for driving with the windows down during these last couple days before it gets too cold.

So go spin Regatta by Curren$y and Harry Fraud and let us know what you think down in the comments.

Joe Exotic Called On Cardi B To Help Him Get Out Of Jail And She Responded

Next month will bring the premiere of Tiger King 2, for which Netflix shared a trailer a couple days ago. Ahead of that, though, Joe Exotic is looking for help with getting out of prison and has called on Cardi B for assistance, a call that Cardi recently answered.

On October 21, Exotic’s unverified Twitter account shared a photo of a handwritten note that is addressed to Cardi and reads, “When you see the truth in Tiger King 2 I need you to rally everyone together to be my voice of freedom! Be my hero girl.” Cardi finally saw the post yesterday, as she shared it and wrote, “Wait is this the real tiger king?”

John Michael Phillips, Exotic’s lawyer, responded to Cardi’s tweet, writing, “I represent Joe. He heard about your message from prison. I’d love to put you two together on a phone call next week.” He later added, “I can’t even imagine facilitating the call between @iamcardib and @joe_exotic. That collaboration may make the world explode. Here kitty kitty (the WAP remix) is so 2022. Cardi, I can probably get you on a call with Joe next week. He’s grateful for you taking on Carole early.”

Exotic sees an ally in Cardi due to her previous run-ins with Carole Baskin. Baskin shared criticisms about Cardi over the animals used in her “WAP” video, and Cardi responded, “I’m not gonna engage with Carole Baskin on that. Like, that’s just ridiculous, you know? Oh, Lord. Like, girl: you killed your g*ddamn husband.”

Cardi B is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

A$AP Rocky Includes New Clams Casino-Produced Track “Sandman” On “LIVE.LOVE.A$AP” Re-Release

A$AP Rocky’s debut mixtape LIVE.LOVE.A$AP hit digital streaming platforms today, nearly ten years since its release, and while fan-favorite tracks “Kissin’ Pink” and “Out Of This World” were left off the re-released version of the mixtape, a new track was added to the project.

“Sandman,” a bonus track Rocky previewed earlier this year, is an ode to the man who put Rocky on. From the Tumblr days to his legendary Twitter account to the Mob’s annual festival, Yams Day, Yams’ impact on Rocky and the rest of the A$AP collective was endlessly important and “Sandman” is a fitting and beautiful tribute.

Rapping over Clams Casino production that fits seamlessly within the context of LIVE.LOVE.A$AP, Rocky compares himself to Frank Lucas and Stanley Kubrick before dedicating the back half of his second verse to the late A$AP Yams. Musically addressing the situation in a way we haven’t necessarily heard from Rocky, the Harlem native is straight to point, and warns of the dangers of the life he lived.

Accompanied by a new, red, white and blue version of the iconic LIVE.LOVE.A$AP cover, “Sandman” is the perfect closer to the decade-old mixtape and is a pleasant reminder of the type of music A$AP Rocky is capable of making.

Check out Rocky’s LIVE.LOVE.A$AP bonus track “Sandman” below and let us know what you think in the comments.

Megan Thee Stallion Talks Her Shit On “Megan Monday Freestyle”

On “Megan Monday Freestyle,” Thee Stallion lets listeners know that she’s “still runnin’ through the mall with your motherf*ckin’ daddy.” The track comes in at just under two minutes, but still managers to pack a clever punch thanks to Megan’s quick wit and great sense of humour.

Bars like “N*ggas been hooked since ‘Big Ole Freak’,” and “Damn I must be Olivia Pope ‘cause y’all keep puttin’ me in all of these scandals,” are some of our favourites, but the track as a whole will make you want to play it on repeat until you can sing along every word with Coach Meg.

The new song comes from the 26-year-old’s fresh new album, Something for The Hotties, which features 21 tracks from the artist’s archives. The project is mostly featureless, although Juicy J does make a quick appearance on “Trippy Skit.”

Other favourites from Megan’s latest release include “Megan’s Piano,” “Eat It,” and “Tuned In Freestyle.” See the full track list above, and be sure to share your favourite lyric from “Megan Monday Freestyle” below.

Quotable Lyrics:
