DJ Akademiks Previews New “Off The Record” Episode With Brittany Renner

Brittany Renner has had one hell of a 2021.

After having a child with Charlotte Hornets power forward P.J. Washington, the two split, reportedly leaving Washington in shambles. The two went back and forth for weeks, with both parties firing digital shots at each other, and Washington claiming that Renner wouldn’t let him see their child. Rumors swirled that Renner only had a child with Washington in order to secure some hefty child support, and after declaring it “stepdaddy season,” Renner has been all over the place.

First popping up at a Carolina Panthers vs. Miami Dolphins with the simple message, “Hide your sons,” and then at Jackson State University with a similar, but more pointed message, writing “Hey Jackson State! Hide your sons.” She received a ton of backlash for her message to the men of Jackson State, with many people pointing to its potentially-predatory nature, but Renner fired back, tweeting, “Yeah imagine someone 18 or older wanting to f*ck me and me wanting to fuck them so we f*ck…very outrageous! Call Chris Hansen NOW!!!”

Now, it appears Renner wants to fully address the last couple of months.

In a tweet by DJ Akademiks, the Off The Record podcast host revealed that he sat down with Renner for an episode of his show, and included a clip of their conversation.

During the interview snippet, Renner gets in depth about a couple of things, including why she feels she is portrayed the way she is online.

“What you’ve done in private,” Renner told Akademiks. “I’ve just maybe talked about publicly. I talked about having yeast infections and ‘Oh I f*cked multiple guys in this…'”

Akademiks cuts Renner off and steers the conversation towards her relationship with Washington and his “anguish” over the situation, but it’s clear that neither Ak nor Renner are afraid to talk about anything. It’s yet to be seen if Renner’s Off The Record episode will actually happen, as Akademiks seemed to ask his fans if he should release the episode or “toss it in the sewer,” but if it does come out, it is sure to make huge waves on the internet because Renner has been a part of some messy situations and Akademiks revels in that sort of thing.

Will you be checking for the Brittany Renner episode of Off The Record if, and when it comes out? Let us know in the comments.

R. Kelly Hires Bill Cosby’s Former Attorney To Help Challenge Racketeering Conviction: Report

From the looks of things R. Kelly is doing everything in his power to challenge the racketeering conviction he received back in September. The Chicago Tribune reports that the Jennifer Bonjean, who aided Bill Cosby in the appeal of his sex crimes conviction earlier this year, has signed on to the “I Believe I Can Fly” singer’s legal team.

The attorney said that she will “spearhead Kelly’s post-conviction motions,” and if U.S. District Judge Anne Donnelly denies the artist a new trial, she plans to “work on an appeal before the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.”

Post-trial motions are supposed to be submitted by this coming Monday, but Bonjean has allegedly asked for a two-month extension, and is “looking forward to getting familiar with the record.” The 51-year-old also shared her thoughts on how R. Kelly’s case has been handled thus far.

“I am becoming increasingly concerned with how the government is abusing the RICO statute in order to plead around the statute of limitations and essentially put people’s entire lives on trial,” the told the Tribune. “It’s becoming a formula for the government. You have a right to defend yourself against specific allegations.”

Bonjean revealed that she’s seen similar things occur elsewhere in her caseload – specifically in the instance of NXIVM sex-cult leader, Keith Raniere, who faced a conviction under the RICO statute while in the same courthouse that Kelly was in.

Earlier this month, one of the singer’s victim’s, Faith Rodgers, stated that she doesn’t believe R.Kelly can be successfully rehabilitated unless he takes accountability for his actions, and even then she has her doubts.

Do you think that Jennifer Bonjean will be able to work her legal magic on R. Kelly’s case, or will he finally have to face the music?

Alicia Keys Dances With Swizz Beatz In The Loving ‘Best Of Me’ Video

In the video for “Best Of Me,” Alicia Keys’ new single and loving ode to her husband Swizz Beatz, the singer spends time cuddling, dancing, and posing with Swizz, as clips from various home movies featuring their whole family appear throughout. The single is the first from Alicia’s upcoming double album Keys, which will play on the two sides of the singer’s career — the laid-back, piano-driven Originals side, which will be produced by Alicia herself, and the hip-hop-friendly, upbeat Unlocked side produced by Mike Will Made-It.

In that spirit, two versions of “Best Of Me” hit Alicia’s YouTube. While the video uses the stripped-down “side A” version produced by Keys herself, the “unlocked” version adds extra instrumentation, including drums and synth. Keys’ excitement for the new project is palpable in her social media posts leading up to its release, saying the track gives her chills. The project will around just over a year removed from the singer’s last full-length album, Alicia, which contained features from Jill Scott, Khalid⁣, Miguel, Sampha, Snoh Aalegra, and Tierra Whack. Keys is due on December 10 via RCA Records. You can pre-save it here. Check out the cover below.

Yung Miami Breaks Down The Wildest “Rap Freaks” Name Drops

A week after appearing on Quavo’s Freaknik-inspired single “Strub The Ground,” City Girls rapper Yung Miami doubled back with a solo track of her own. Titled “Rap Freaks,” the brief new track finds the Florida rapper name-dropping several of the most popular artists in the music industry, from Tory Lanez, DaBaby, and Megan Thee Stallion to Diddy, Cardi B, and Nicki Minaj.

Longtime Hip-Hop fans will easily recognize Yung Miami’s song as a fresh take on similar name-dropping tracks, such as The Notorious B.I.G.’s “Just Playing (Dreams),” Lil’ Kim’s “Dreams,” 50 Cent’s “How To Rob,” and Nicki Minaj’s “Barbie Dreams.” In an exclusive interview with Billboard, the City Girls artist confirms that she was in fact inspired by many of the aforementioned artists, and she attests that the name drops in “Rap Freaks” shouldn’t be taken too seriously.

“The song is showing love to all the rappers right now, it’s nothing personal,” Yung Miami told Billboard. “I [named] a bunch of the guys who are on top, that’s hot, that’s poppin’. Nothing is personal, nothing is literal, I’m just having fun.”

After explaining that none of the lyrics in “Rap Freaks” should be interpreted as disses, Yung Miami did offer more background information about some of the single’s most outlandish lines.

In the final four lines of the song, the QC artist — who fans affectionately call Caresha — raps, “Took a jet to a private island on a date with Diddy/I like bad boys, no ho shit/Diddy, let me put it in your face like them roaches (Like that)/And put your rich ass to sleep, buenas noches (Goodnight, nigga).”

While discussing the Diddy name-drop with Billboard, Yung Miami said, “Diddy was talking about how before he came up, he woke up to roaches on his face and that’s what motivated him to get money. I just thought it was a nice bar to throw in there. That was just a rap, just something I said. It’s just wordplay. That’s my friend. I know Diddy, he’s really cool. He’s a really nice man. That’s my friend, I know him.

Elsewhere in the interview, Yung Miami explains the line “I can’t even picture myself fuckin’ on ‘lil Kodak,” making it clear that she isn’t interested in Kodak Black at all. “I don’t have any involvement with Kodak,” she told Billboard. “I really don’t want to speak on him.”

A fellow Flordia rapper who the City Girls rapper didn’t mind discussing, however, was Rod Wave, who she referenced on “Rap Freaks” with the line, “Have Rod Wave singing in this pussy like a funeral.” According to Yung Miami, the SoulFly singer is currently one of her favorite artists, and she would love to work with him in the future.

If you haven’t yet heard Yung Miami’s bold solo single, watch the sultry music video for “Rap Freaks” below. Be warned, it’s pretty NSFW.

Over the past few months, Joyner Lucas has been delivering single after single for his dedicated fans to stream. Back in August, he teamed up with Lil Tjay for “Dreams Unfold,” and in August we saw him drop off “Your Heart” featuring J. Cole. Earlier in October, the 33-year-old shared yet another collab, “Late to the Party,” this time with Ty Dolla $ign. Now, he’s back with more heat.

On October 29th, Lucas dropped his first solo single in a minute, titled “Duck Duck Goose.” Along with the song, the ADHD artist shared a music video that sees him lighting a tree on fire and riding a 4-wheeler down a path as he raps along.

As per usual, the Massachusetts-born star is receiving plenty of praise for his bars. “He’s turned into one of the top lyricists in the game!! How can you not vibe with this man,” one YouTube viewer wrote. “1 of the best Rappers today,” someone else chimed in. “Boy got real Rap Skills not like these Autone boring mumble Rappers.”

Larry Hoover Jr. Details How He Ended Up On Kanye West’s “Donda”

During the second Donda listening session in Atlanta, fans were surprised to hear a lengthy monologue by Larry Hoover Jr., the son of Gangster Disciples co-founder, Larry Hoover.

During the monologue included on “Jesus Lord”, Hoover explains that his father, serving six life sentences for a “1973 murder along with charges of exortion, conspiracy, and money laundering,” has not called any shots for the famous Chicago gang since being imprisoned, and will not call any shots for the Gangster Disciples should he be released from prison.

Hoover Jr. thanks Ye for “taking the fight for (his) father to the Oval Office,” and in a recent appearance on the Drea O Show, he explained how he ended up on Donda in the first place.

“I have a friend of mine who is a close friend of Kanye’s,” Hoover Jr. said, noting that he is friends with rapper GLC, who appeared on The College Dropout‘s “Spaceship.”

“GLC came to speak with Kanye, and Kanye is from the city and Kanye also believes my father could make a change in the city. He started making efforts towards helping my father out. I went to see him when he was doing this show, and he called me like, ‘Why don’t you put something on the album?’,” Hoover Jr. explained. “I was in Atlanta to go to the show … I had to go to the lab and get my thoughts together … I definitely had to pen it, but I put something together … I wrote it and sent it to him, and I didn’t know if it was going to be used or not.”

Hoover Jr. added that it was strange that Mike Dean is the one who recorded him, as Dean had recorded “A Visit With Larry Hoover” for the Geto Boys two-and-a-half decades prior to Donda

Despite not knowing if his monologue would make the cut, Hoover Jr. told Drea O that it was important that he did make it, and that it was important for the world to hear about Larry Hoover the human, instead of Larry Hoover, the founder of the Gangster Disciples.

“I still didn’t know if it was on the album, cause the album hadn’t been released it was a listening party and he was trying to decide what to use … It was an exciting situation. Plus a nervous situation, I don’t like hearing myself or watching myself. But it was a good thing, and to hear the people felt what I was saying … It made my father seem like a human being, they only knew him as Larry Hoover, leader of the Gangster Disciples.”

Hoover Jr.’s gratitude for Ye’s including him on the album is obvious, and with J. Prince’s recent revelation that Ye and Drake, despite their ongoing “beef,” are cooking up a plan to help Hoover Sr., it’s looking like his piece at the end of “Jesus Lord” might have more of an impact than even he could have imagined.

Check out Hoover Jr.’s appearance on the Drea O Show below, and let us know what you think of his Donda appearance down in the comments.

Khloe Kardashian Confirms She & Daughter True Thompson Have Tested Positive For COVID-19

Khloe Kardashian and her 3-year-old daughter, True Thompson have tested positive for COVID-19, the reality star shared via Twitter earlier today. The mother of one confirmed that she and her child are “in quarantine and following current guidelines” at the moment.

“Hi guys! I wanted to let you know True and I tested positive for Covid,” the 37-year-old wrote. “I’ve had to cancel several commitments and I’m sorry I won’t be able to make those happen. Luckily I have been vaccinated so all will be ok.”

PEOPLE reports that Kardashian previously tested positive for the virus, back in March of 2020. Her battle with COVID and her family’s reaction were documented on E!’s Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

Anna Khait, who’s known for competing on season 32 of Survivor dropped off a note for Kardashian in the replies. “Your natural immunity from having it the first time makes you better immune than having the Covid vaccine,” she wrote. “And goes to show you, you can still get Covid after GETTING the vaccine.”

“Not againnnnn! Sorry Khloe! Wishing you and Tutu [a] speedy recovery,” another follower wrote. Plenty of others shared their empathy for Kardashian and her young daughter.

Elsewhere, True has been in the news after her father, NBA star Tristan Thompson showed off some new photos of her, and his son, Prince, on his Instagram page. “Let me love you a little more, before you are not so little anymore,” he captioned the sweet snapshots, which you can see for yourself below.
