T.I. Explains Why He Didn’t Give Young Thug Or 21 Savage Money During Their Come Up

All money isn’t good money, or so they say, and T.I. explains why that belief rings true in the entertainment industry. We often see artists complaining about record deals they can’t get out of—some even opting to take their labels to court. While visiting Shannon Sharpe on Club Shay Shay, T.I. broke down those controversial 360 deals. He also shared why he didn’t give 21 Savage or Young Thug deals or advances when they were aspiring artists on the rise.

“A 360 means that you have accepted something from the label that has given them the right to accept a percentage of—the call it ancillaries. All of your ancillary business. That means your tour money, that means if you got sponsorship dollars.”

Sharpe was surprised that artists actually agreed to those deals. T.I. replied by suggesting it was a common practice.

“Most times, most artists are only looking for what they’re getting right then,” said the Rap mogul. “Because what we always had was ideas and what the industry has is access. So, we usually exchange our ideas for their access.”

T.I. recalled being young and challenged by a relative to learn all he could about the industry before pursuing a Rap career. When he got older, T.I. was ahead of his peers because he knew what to look for.

He shared that information with up-and-comers he was introduced to, like 21 Savage and Young Thug.

“I find it honorable to be able to tell new artists, when they come up to me—you know. 21 Savage, [Young] Thug, a lot of ’em come up to me, ‘Ay man, just give me a million, Tip. Just give me a million. I don’t care what you do. Just give me a million and let me handle it from there.’”

T.I. said he refused to do that.

“Because if I give you a million, I gotta take back some that’s gon’ be way more and we ain’t gon’ be able to be friends no more. And I always tell them, don’t worry about the money up front ’cause it gon’ come. I remember telling that to Slime, I remember telling that to 21. And even Savage, anytime he see me now, ‘Hey, it came.’”

“That put a smile on my face because I just know how impactful every generation has the opportunity to be. even more than the last.”

YSL Co-Founder Mondo Claims D.A. Fani Willis Used To Be His Lawyer

YSL Mondo unveiled some interesting details pertaining to District Attorney Fani Willis prior to launching a RICO case against Young Thug and his co-defendants.

During a recent interview with the Ugly Money podcast, the YSL co-founder revealed that Willis was once his defense attorney. Prior to landing a gig as the D.A. in Fulton County, Georgia, she represented Mondo, who wasn’t indicted in the RICO case, as his attorney.

“[She] was just my lawyer,” Mondo said, revealing that he has evidence to back up his claims. “I was the last case she was doing before she turned to being the [District Attorney].”

Additionally, Mondo said that there’s plenty of information publicly available to back up his claims. However, he said that Willis ultimately “switched sides” immediately after representing him. He also shot down rumors that she’d be able to use information gained during his tenure as Mondo’s attorney against the other YSL members.

“That was for real just my lawyer, bruh. I ain’t never seen this lady act like this. This shit weird to me. That’s how I know all this shit is about politics,” he continued. “I’m sitting here talkin’ to her just like how we talkin’. Fani Willis lady — I used to talk to this lady like an auntie… All this shit puzzling and scary as hell. And it’s a lot of bullshit they’re putting out… Shit ain’t right.”

Despite being a co-founder of YSL, Mondo was never indicted as part of the RICO case. However, he stated that YSL is not a gang elsewhere in the interview.

The YSL Case: Perc Passing Points to Rocky Start for Young Thug

Even though the jury has not yet been selected, there has been no shortage of drama in the trial of Young Thug, whose real name is Jeffery Lamar Williams, and his YSL associates.

Last week one of Williams’ associates, Kahlieff Adams, was caught on camera walking up to Williams, where he sat in court, and handing him a package of Percocet in what prosecutors describe in their motion as a “hand-to-hand drug transaction.” Prosecutors further claim that Williams closed his hand around the package and moved it beneath the table to conceal it.

Deputies from the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office observed these actions, took the Percocet from Williams and confronted Adams.   The prosecutors say that Adam was searched and found to be carrying Percocet, marijuana, tobacco, and other contraband “wrapped in plastic and food seasonings to mask the odor of the marijuana.”

Adams was later taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.  Prosecutors claim that he had swallowed some of his contraband to hide it.  The defendants’ lawyers have argued this was because courtroom deputies used a taser on him.

The prosecutors then filed a motion seeking that the record reflects that Williams’ and Adams’ conduct caused a delay in the trial – in other words, asking the judge to make a finding of fact that these events had occurred and that Williams and Adams were responsible.   One of the defendant’s attorneys filed a response, which said that after Adams had been taken back to the holding cells, those in the courtroom could hear “loud banging and yelling” coming from that area. Two officers had removed their belts and firearms and rushed back to the holding area.   The defendants’ attorneys claim that Adams had to go to the hospital because he had been tased several times. They have urged the judge to deny the prosecution’s motion containing its version of the events and appoint an independent law enforcement agency to investigate.

Adams is currently serving a life sentence without parole for a 2019 murder and is being charged with attempted murder in the current case.

Williams was not charged for this incident, after his lawyers argued that he didn’t know what Adams was giving him and that he had immediately handed it over to the authorities.  However, Adams faces additional charges for possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, willful obstruction of law enforcement, possession of marijuana, and possession of an alcoholic beverage by an inmate.

This is the third instance of contraband smuggling into the courtroom during this trial.  Last week, the mother of defendant Deamonte Kendrick, known as Yak Gotti, was arrested for trying to smuggle in rolling papers and tobacco for her son.   Additionally, Judge Ural Granville has reportedly said in court that someone else had tried to smuggle in marijuana for one of the defendants, hidden in a pair of shoes.

Although jury selection has been ongoing for nearly three weeks, no jurors have been seated.  This trial will likely keep making sensational headlines for months to come.

Metro Boomin Says Young Thug Recorded “Skyfall” Verse In His Sleep

Metro Boomin, fresh off of the release of Heroes & Villains, unveiled some interesting factors about Young Thug’s recording habits.

Throughout the years, Metro Boomin and Young Thug developed a strong rapport on wax. The two built up hype for a joint project when they released songs like “The Blanguage.” At the same time, they refined their joint styles on recent releases like “Trance,” which also features Travis Scott. The Astroworld artist previously enlisted Metro and Young Thug on for his project, Days Before Rodeo on the song, “Skyfall.”

Though the song went down as a favorite among Scott’s dedicated fanbase, Metro recently revealed the backstory surrounding Thug’s verse. During his appearance on Producer Grind, he revealed that he witnessed Thug cook up his verse in his sleep.

“He was sleep [when] he recorded that whole — aye, his whole part on ‘Skyfall’ he recorded, he was sleep, bruh,” Metro explained. He said the two sat next to each other in the recording booth as Thug punched in.

“Where he punchin’ at, you could see this n***a clearly sleep but he’s so one with the music, like how I be feelin’ one with the music,” Metro continued. “You’ll think he’s sleep and soon, right on time for him to come in, he’ll be like, ‘Look me inside of my eyes,’ and then just go back down.”

Metro explained that Thug would go in and out of sleep without missing his moment to clock in.

Thug appears twice on Heroes & Villains. Along with “Trance” — which Drake has an unreleased verse on — Thug also teamed up with Metro on “Metro Spider.”

YSL Case: Deputy Accused Of Roughing Up Co-Defendant

As if the RICO case stacked against several purported members of YSL couldn’t get any stranger, a new report about a fight has surfaced. We’ve been tracking the ongoing in the courtroom as Young Thug and 13 co-defendants face a barrage of allegations linked to organized criminal activity. Eight people, including Gunna, have taken plea deals and were released from jail. The case recently began, and with each day comes a new twist.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported a lawyer for Rodalius Ryan claimed he “suffered injuries to his legs, hands and head” when he was involved in a tussle with a Fulton County deputy.

The report further details what allegedly occurred, although specificities are scarce. It seems that all co-defendants “were brought out about 9:30 a.m.” this morning (January 23), but it took another hour and a half for things to get started. Initially, it was unclear what caused the delay.

“I will be filing a formal complaint against the (sheriff’s office) because they are agitating my client on purpose,” said Angela D’Williams. “And when he gets to court agitated, they act like they don’t know what’s going on.”

She later clarified that her client wasn’t able to join the other co-defendants because he was being treated for his injuries.

“He had to go get checked out by medical,” D’Williams said. “He was punched in the head and he did fall on the sidewalk. I wanted him to be checked for a concussion.”

However, the authorities gave their side of the story. They reportedly accused Ryan of spitting while in the back of a police vehicle. He was told to stop and clean up the mess, but he allegedly refused. Instead, Ryan is said to have spit at a deputy, hitting them in the face.

“I walked to the rear passenger side door, opened the door and advised inmate Ryan to exit the vehicle where he ignored my order,” the report from the deputy reads.

The deputy claimed when he tried removing Ryan from the car, the defendant “stiffened his body and laid flat.” Ryan was grabbed by his ankles, removed from the vehicle, and reportedly suffered several injuries during the altercation.

Yet, D’Williams alleged her client was not given the opportunity to get out of the car on his own. She has called for an investigation. Ryan is already serving a life sentence related to a 2019 murder. He faced one count in the RICO case and is now looking at other charges, including obstruction and simple assault.

“All deputies are supposed to wear body cameras,” said D’Williams. “When the discovery comes out, we’ll see the body cameras and we’ll see what happened.”

“(I’m) extremely concerned,” she added. “I’m hoping everybody makes it out by the end of this trial. It seems like the (sheriff’s office) has discretion to do whatever they want, behind closed doors. We are not allowed to see what’s happening and then they just bring them out saying they are fine.”

YSL Mondo Details Lil Wayne Allegedly Disrespecting Young Thug & Calls Out Gunna

Not every first meeting with your favorite rapper will go well, as was the case when Young Thug came face to face with Lil Wayne. YSL co-founder Mondo had quite a bit to say when he sat down with the Ugly Money podcast and was asked about his thoughts regarding Thugger meeting Wayne for the first time.

During the introduction, Weezy didn’t “dap him up” when they met. “I didn’t really see Slime show no real deal, but you know, he was like, ‘Damn, bruh acting funny,” Mondo recalled.

Mondo also added, “He said something about it! ‘I don’t think shawty like me,’ he definitely said that.” Apparently, that was a message also communicated to Birdman.

It was brushed off after Thug was told that Wayne is “sometimes be like that.” Mondo emphasized that Thugger wasn’t bothered but mentioned the awkwardness of the greeting.

Additionally, it’s been reported that prosecutors in the YSL RICO case want Wayne and Birdman to testify. In 2015, Wayne’s tour bus was shot at and it’s alleged that Thugger was the person who made it happen.

Elsewhere, Mondo also touched on Gunna taking a plea deal in the case. He wasn’t happy about the “Pushin P” rapper’s decision to plead guilty.

“I’m talking personally, on everything I love, I’m talking I know what’s going on,” he said. “Boy, you ain’t supposed to do that, my brotha. Even if I did be talking to nobody, everybody who got common sense, everybody who’s been in the streets know, you do not, boy, you don’t do no sh*t like that.”

“I always said, bruh, he was a good genuine n*gga,” Mondo further stated. “You can’t say, ‘Oh, they tricked me,’ or ‘Oh, I ain’t talked,’ or ‘I don’t know what’s going on.’ Come on. It’s certain sh*t you just don’t do. And hey boy, you crossed the line. You did that.”

Jacquees Speaks On Gunna, Says “Free My Brother” Young Thug

He’s collaborated with both Young Thug and Gunna, and Jacquees is showing support to both artists during the YSL scandal. Thugger continues to fight for his freedom as the RICO case against him and 13 co-defendants moves forward. Meanwhile, Gunna has been released after agreeing to a plea deal, sparking a wave of controversy as allegations of snitching plagues him.

It’s reported that several rappers and industry elite have quietly unfollowed or removed Gunna from social media. Recently, Jacquees was stopped by a TMZ cameraperson and asked about his peers.

“I don’t know, I stay in my own lane,” he said when questioned about people unfollowing Gunna. “I stay in my own lane, man. You know, I wish everybody the best.”

The cameraperson “applauded” Jacquees for “still following” the “Pushin P” rapper online.

“Oh, yeah, I just stay outta that. I just wish everybody the best. Free my brother, though! That’s the biggest thing.”

After going viral for being one of the names to delete Gunna, Polo G emerged to deny rumors. He claimed he never followed him in the first place.

Young Thug has faced a new set of problems after prosecutors alleged he was involved in a drug deal. The incident occurred during a court hearing as co-defendant Kahlieff Adams slipped Thugger a Percocet. Deputies immediately confiscated the pill, and later it was reported that Adams also had tobacco and marijuana on his person.

A lawyer argued that Adams was taken to a holding cell where he was repeatedly tased. Adams was later sent to a hospital for treatment, although authorities claimed it was because he ingested contraband in an effort to conceal.

[WATCH] Young Thug’s Attorney Says Rapper Had Nothing To Do With Drug Delivery In Court

Rapper Young Thug’s attorney says his client had nothing to do with a YSL co-defendant distributing drugs in court on Thursday.

Courtroom video shows co-defendant Kahlieff Adamscurrently serving a life sentence for murder — handing Williams a Percocet pill in open view of deputies in the Fulton County Courthouse. Jeffery Williams, aka Young Thug is on trial for RICO gang violations as leader of the Young Slime Life (YSL) street gang.
In an interview with WSB-TV, lawyer Keith Adams was adamant that Williams had no idea what he was being given.

“The reality is, Mr. Williams has nothing to do with what went on in the courtroom yesterday. One of the co-defendants, on his way to the restroom, attempted to pass something to Mr. Williams who immediately turned it over to the deputy.”

He continued: “We don’t know what [the item] is. Did not know what it was. Turned it over to the deputy right away. The deputies took action. The individual who had the contraband – not Mr. Williams – was taken into the back, where I’m told he ingested whatever he had. He had to be taken to the hospital, and as a result, court was terminated for the rest of the day.”

Lawyer Claims YSL Defendant Was Tased In Holding Cell

More information is being shared about Young Thug and Kahlieff Adams’s drug exchange in court. Yesterday (January 20), a video surfaced showing Adams walking past the rapper’s table in court before slipping something into his hand. It was discovered to be a Percocet, and quickly, Adams was searched. It’s reported that he also had marijuana and tobacco products. Adams is also said to have several additional counts added to his charges.

Later, Thug’s attorney said the rapper didn’t know anything about a drug deal in court and didn’t orchestrate anything with Adams.

“Defendant Adams was taken to Grady Hospital after he appeared to ingest other items of contraband that he held on his person, in an effort to conceal the extent of his crimes within the courtroom,” the District Attorneys’ Office wrote in court documents.

A lawyer for another co-defendant also submitted paperwork of their own, and they want a full investigation into the incident. Their version of events slightly differs from what the D.A. shared.

“Shortly after Mr. Adams is taken to the back holding cells,” they wrote. “While in the Courtroom the undersigned Attorney, his client, and several other individuals could hear loud banging and yelling coming from the holding area where Mr. Adams was being held. While the disturbance took place several officers ran into the courtroom and went into the holding area where Mr. Adams was being held.”

It was said that “at least two officers” removed “their belts and firearms” before rushing into the holding area. The lawyer called the sound “distressing,” and when Adams’s attorney asked to check on her client, she was denied. Following the incident, “all Defendants were removed from the Court room.”

“According to the State Mr. Adams was transported to Hospital because he allegedly ingested the contraband, however upon information and belief, Mr. Adams was also transported because he needed medical assistance after being tased several times by officers.”

The lawyer accused prosecutors of polluting the narrative of what happened. It is unclear if Young Thug will face additional charges.
