Diddy’s Former Bodyguard Accuses Him Of Grooming Usher

In a recent interview with the Art of Dialogue, Gene Deal, Diddy’s former bodyguard, made shocking claims regarding Usher’s relationship with the hip-hop mogul. According to Deal, Usher was allegedly a victim of grooming by Diddy, sparking controversy within the music industry. Deal expressed bewilderment over Usher’s apparent praise for Diddy during an appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast, given their tumultuous history. “I know and people know that was around in that time that Puff [Daddy] and Usher did have a situation,” Deal stated. “And that situation led Usher to the hospital. Now, I’m telling that because you taking up for somebody that you know and a lot of more people know didn’t do you right when you was at Diddy’s camp.” Moreover, Deal’s revelations cast a shadow over Usher’s association with Diddy, raising questions about the dynamics of power and influence within the music industry. Beyoncé

Known for her distinct and versatile vocals, Rihanna seamlessly infuses various genres into her music. While she has not released music in a while, her reputation stands firm. Although she is primarily regarded as an R&B vocalist, she is one of a handful of singers who can succeed in many other genres. Throughout her musical career, Rih has been known to incorporate her Caribbean roots into her works. When she released “Man Down” in 2011, with its reggae and soulful vibes, it ushered in a new era in the singer’s career. Equally notable are her electrohouse collaborations with Calvin Harris, “This is What You Came For” and “We Found Love.” With her chart-topping hit, “Work,” Rihanna also explored dancehall music.

Alicia Keys

With a classical training in piano, Alicia Keys has always been an interesting and notable artist. Using the instrument as an extension of herself, she’s always brought a peculiar touch of elegance to R&B. Additionally, the singer’s ability to infuse soulful vocals with intricate piano arrangements truly sets her apart. However, Keys has also explored the territories of pop in several of her albums. These include The Element of Freedom(2009), Here (2014), and Alicia (2020). On Alicia, she went even further, experimenting with orchestral pop and reggae on tracks like “Love Looks Better” and “Wasted Energy.”

Frank Ocean

When it comes to an alternative approach to R&B and genre-blurring, Frank Ocean is among a handful of essential singers. Looking 4 Myself (2012) remains his most experimental album with songs like “Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop” and “Numb.” On his most recent album, he incorporated Afrobeats into the track “Ruin,” and showcased his capacity to push genre boundaries.

Janet Jackson

The R&B and pop icon Janet Jackson has effortlessly navigated between genres throughout her career. She is celebrated alongside many other iconic R&B singers, and rightly so. However, unlike some R&B vocalists, Jackson has successfully crossed genre lines many times in her career. For example, with her album Rhythm Nation 1814 (1989), she played a crucial role in popularizing the New Jack Swing genre. She has also fearlessly experimented with funk, rock, and disco, among others. Some of her most experimental and celebrated tracks to date are “Black Cat,” “If,” and “Control.”

Anybody who thought the vinyl resurgence was just a fad was mistaken: The industry has experienced a legitimate revival. As a result, music fans are interested in physical media in ways they may not have if the decades-old medium hasn’t made a comeback. That doesn’t mean everybody is listening to just their parents’ old music, though. That’s part of it, sure, thanks to rereleases that present classic albums in new ways. A vital part of the renewed vinyl wave, though, is new projects being released as records, of which there are plenty.

Whatever you might be into, each month brings a new slew of vinyl releases that has something for everybody. Some stand out above the rest, naturally, so check out some of our favorite vinyl releases of February below.

Paul McCartney & Wings — Band On The Run (50th Anniversary Edition)

The end of The Beatles was a sad moment for music, but the silver lining was that it led to Paul McCartney forming Wings, a band that enjoyed a beloved run of its own. The group’s defining third album, 1973’s Band On The Run, turned 50 recently, so now we have a new vinyl reissue of the album. The 2LP edition includes a treat for fans: an “Underdubbed” Mixes Edition of the album, of which McCartney himself explains, “This is Band On The Run in a way you’ve never heard before. When you are making a song and putting on additional parts, like an extra guitar, that’s an overdub. Well, this version of the album is the opposite, underdubbed.”

Amy Winehouse — Frank (Reissue)

We lost Amy Winehouse far too soon, but the pair of albums she left behind is special. It all started with Frank in 2003 and the album turned 20 years old recently. To celebrate, we now have the coolest-looking version of the album, a lovely new picture disc vinyl pressing.

The Who — Quadrophenia (Reissue) and The Who By Numbers (Reissue)

The Who were masters when it came to making music that rewards close listening. Now, the sonic details of two of the group’s finest albums, Quadrophenia and The Who By Numbers, can be enjoyed better than ever with these new vinyl reissues, which got a half-speed mastering for the occasion.

Issac Hayes — Hot Buttered Soul (Reissue)

As part of their Small Batch vinyl series, Craft Recordings has come through with an audiophile-friendly version of an Isaac Hayes classic, which features lacquers cut from the original tapes. Ultimately, Craft proclaims this release to be “as close as the listener can get to the original recording.” As the name of the reissue series suggests, this isn’t one to take your time with, as it’s limited to only 3,000 copies. The overall packaging of the reissue is also stunning.

Idles — Tangk

Uproxx’s Grant Sharples wrote of the latest album from UK rockers Idles, “The Bristol post-punk band Idles used to operate in one mode: loud, abrasive, and often furious. Their sheer volume was their main signifier, but now they’ve partially softened up, adding more subtlety to their anthemic tunes. On Tangk, their fifth record, the intensity remains, but rather than going in a purely punk direction, they make their noisy guitars and unrelenting drums a bit more rhythmic.”

John Coltrane — A Love Supreme (VMP Edition)

It’s one for completionists: The 8LP box set features the album itself, as well as “every live and alternate take.” If you wanted the ultimate experience of one of jazz’s most iconic recordings, this is it.

Grandaddy — Blu Wav

After some time away, Grandaddy has been back at it over the past few years. February yielded the indie favorites’ sixth album, Blu Wav, and the blue marble vinyl pressing is a gorgeous way to enjoy it.

MGMT — Loss Of Life

Similarly, MGMT also pressed their latest LP on some vibrant vinyl colors, like the tangerine version seen above. In her review of the project, Uproxx’s Carolyn Droke wrote, “As a whole, Loss Of Life shows MGMT have gone full circle and come back to their foundations as an indie band, both sonically by shedding the dark melodies of 2018’s Little Dark Age in favor of a more buoyant sound, and literally by signing to an independent record label.”

Helado Negro — Phasor

Helado Negro has been consistently rock-solid for over a decade now, busting out a new album usually at least every couple years since 2009. His eighth LP, Phasor, arrived earlier this month, and you have options in terms of vinyl aesthetics. There’s the “coke bottle translucent green” pressing pictured above, or a standard black if you’re more of a tried-and-true traditionalist.

Why Was Usher Mentioned In A New Diddy Lawsuit?

Early this week, NBC News reported that Diddy had been named in a new sexual harassment lawsuit filed by Rodney “Lil Rod Madeit” Jones, a producer on Diddy’s album The Love Album: Off The Grid. The suit also named Diddy’s son, Justin Combs; chief of staff Kristina Khorram; Universal Music Group CEO Sir Lucian Grainge; and former Motown Records CEO Ethiopia Habtemariam as defendants for either aiding Diddy or failing to address complaints about his behavior.

However, as news of the suit spread, some other names mentioned in the suit piqued music fans’ interest. One of those names was Usher’s. So,

Why Was Usher Mentioned In The New Lawsuit Against Diddy?

Usher is not named as a defendant in the suit; however, a redacted excerpt caught the attention of gossip blogger DJ Akademiks, who used the provided footnotes to extrapolate the identities of the redacted names. “Mr. Combs informed Mr. Jones that he had engaged in sexual intercourse with rapper[5] (REDACTED), R&B singer[6] (REDACTED), and Stevie J,” it read. The footnotes provided background info for anyone involved who might need context for the redacted names. 5 was described as “a Philadelphia Rapper who dated Nicki Minaj,” which could only be Meek Mill, while 6 “performed at the Super Bowl and had a successful Vegas residency.”

That sure sounds like Usher, right?

Now, it’s important to remember that unless these assertions are corroborated, they should probably be taken with a massive grain of salt — actually, just throw the whole salt shaker in there. Celebrity lawsuits are often filled with lurid details to bait headlines that plaintiffs’ lawyers hope will prompt quick settlements to avoid lengthy trials and more embarrassing headlines. In Diddy’s case, although he did quickly settle his ex Cassie’s sexual assault lawsuit last year, he’s since maintained that the wave of suits that followed it was just a series of money grabs.

Usher shared moments of him and his wife, Jennifer Goicoechea, spending time with elephants in a jungle, enjoying a boat trip, playing Monopoly, and relaxing dip in a pool.

Usher and Jenn Goicoechea exchanged vows in a surprise wedding ceremony in Las Vegas after the Super Bowl. Usher, who recently graced the cover of PEOPLE, shared exclusive images of their intimate celebration.

“We can confirm that Usher and Jennifer Goicoechea took the next step in their relationship and did get married on Sunday night in Las Vegas surrounded by close friends and family,” a representative told PEOPLE. “They both look forward to continuing to raise their children together surrounded by love and thank everyone for the well wishes.”

In the blink of an eye, Jennifer Goicoechea became Usher’s wife. The R&B icon and the talented music executive have been turning heads with their love this year. And now, they’ve taken it a step further with their recently announced wedding. They exchanged vows after Usher’s amazing Super Bowl Halftime performance. Evidently, these two are madly in love, and Usher’s swooning confessions even made it to his ninth album, Coming Home. 2016-2019: Love In & Outside Of The Club

While it is unknown when the two first met, Usher and Goicoechea were first photographed together in 2016. The next time they were seen together was two years later. Goicoechea posted a photo on Instagram, which featured her positioned between two friends, and Usher laughing as he leaned over the trio. The photo immediately sparked dating rumors, especially since Goicoechea seemed to be quite close to Usher and his close circle of friends. Usher and his now-wife eventually came out and confirmed the rumors in 2019. While attending the Hollywood Bowl, the two shared a photo with Goicoechea kissing Usher on the cheek.

2020-2021: Becoming Parents

By 2020, the couple was revealed to be expecting their first child together. The pair was spotted in Los Angeles, outside a production studio, showcasing Jennifer’s visible baby bump. A source speaking with Us Weekly shared that the couple was “thrilled and very excited.” A few months later, the couple welcomed their baby girl, Sovereign Bo Raymond.

USHER Adds Two Extra Cuts To “COMING HOME (Expanded Edition)”

USHER has been on top of the music world for the past few months. The Super Bowl LVIII performer has been a busy man this last month and a half with interviews. Of course, they are all centering around his Halftime Show which accumulated adoration and criticism. But, the longtime R&B singer also dropped his first solo record in eight years. Today, USHER is back to update it with the COMING HOME (Expanded Edition).

It has been about two weeks since the original version came out. It featured 20 songs with tons of respectable features. Burna Boy, Summer Walker, 21 Savage, H.E.R., The-Dream, Pheelz, and Jung Kook are all here. The singles that made the cut were “Good Good,” “Risk It All” from The Color Purple film adaptation, and “Standing Next to You.”

How Many Kids Does Usher Have?

Usher remains a loving family man with four children, two of whom he shares with his new wife. Despite his busy schedule and successful career, he has been a present figure in the lives of his children. However, as he remains a sex symbol, some unknowing fans have wondered if Usher ever had any kids. Well, he does have children, and here they are.

Usher “Cinco” Raymond V

Usher “Cinco” Raymond V is the first of two kids shared by Usher and his ex-wife Tameka Foster. He was born on November 27, 2007, and has been showered with love by his father ever since. When he was five years old, Cinco nearly drowned, but thankfully was saved just in time, and recovered. Subsequently, at the age of six, Cinco was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Usher has admitted that this diagnosis made co-parenting with Foster complicated because of the level of commitment required to manage the disease. However, they were able to find a way to make it work. Despite the fame, Cinco prefers to separate himself from his dad and does not like to be called Usher. However, the 16-year-old does not love his father any less.

Naviyd Ely Raymond

Born on December 10, 2008, Naviyd Ely Raymond is the second of two kids shared by Usher and Tameka Foster. Following his divorce from Foster in 2009, Usher was granted full custody of both Cinco and Naviyd. Since then, the “Yeah” singer has proudly taken on the responsibility of fatherhood fully. According to Usher, the 15-year-old Naviyd is a fan of entertainment and enjoys seeing his dad perform. While not much is known about him right now, Naviyd just might grow up to have a career in the entertainment industry. A video of him singing after Usher’s Halftime Show recently went viral on social media.

Sovereign Bo

Usher welcomed the first of his two kids with Jennifer Goicoechea on September 24, 2020. While the child arrived a month earlier than expected, thankfully, there were no complications with the delivery. Besides being his first child with Goicoechea, Sovereign Bo is also Usher’s only daughter. In an interview with Extra in May 2021, the singer revealed why he named his daughter Sovereign Bo. “Sovereign, man, is such a beautiful word and name to me. You know, a supreme ruler is obviously the defined name. She’s definitely ruling the household, but Sovereign Bo — Bo is at the end of it, so she’s my little ‘reign-bo’,” he shared.

Sire Castrello

The youngest of the singer’s kids, Sire Castrello was born to Usher and Jennifer Goicoechea on September 29, 2021. Sire arrived almost exactly a year after Sovereign, and the two could pass as twins. Since his birth, the two-year-old has made several appearances on his father’s Instagram. Sire’s very first appearance was in October 2021 when Usher revealed that he had arrived a month before. Usher Is Finally Returning To Europe To Play Shows For His ‘Usher: Past Present Future Tour’ This Spring

On the heels of his massive halftime show and dropping a short film tied to it, Usher has even more exciting news for fans. He will be heading to Europe in the Spring to perform a few shows of his Usher: Past Present Future Tour.

“Europe, you ready?” he shared in a statement. “After the epic experience at the Super Bowl and the huge demand for shows across North America, I’m happy to announce I’m coming your way as well – for shows in London, Paris, Amsterdam, and Berlin. This tour is both a celebration of the past 30 years and a glimpse into the future. We are just getting started!”

According to a press release, fans can expect Usher to perform a mix of his classic hits, and selections from his new album, Coming Home. This will be also his first time touring there since 2015, outside of the Paris residency he did last year.

Tickets for Usher’s Europe tour will go on sale this Thursday, February 22 at noon local time. Additional information can be found on his website.

Just nearly a week after Usher killed it at the Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show, fans are getting another glimpse into how exactly he pulled off all the surprises.

In a new short film that dropped via the music platform, it provides a look at Usher’s rehearsals and the changes that were made to the setlist and production. Oh, and it was directed by Jay-Z and Hamish Hamilton, as they shot the footage entirely on an iPhone.

“As I put together the songs, like a puzzle piece to represent this type of soulful music, R&B and mixture of this pop that is my own, I think God really blessed me with the right people to help build the artist that I am,” Usher shared in the ten-minute film. “I’m happy that I’m able to share this moment with them.”

“If you put in the work, people will respect what you do,” he added.

Throughout the video, he runs through the routine repeatedly with his backup dancers. Usher also takes some time to do vocal warmups, as he rehearses to pronounce the consonants a little stronger. It is also split with high-quality footage taken up close during the actual show.
