Wendy Williams’ Son Accuses Her Manager and Others of Enabling his mother as she battles addiction issues

Wendy Williams' Son Accuses Her Manager and Others of Enabling his mother as she battles addiction issues

While it has been widely reported that Wendy Williams is no longer hospitalized, her son Kevin is apparently still very concerned for his mother’s health and well-being….as well as the company that she has been keeping.

In a rare interview, Kevin Hunter Jr., 22, spoke to The Sun about his concerns surrounding his mother’s inner circle- namely her manager Will Selby. Hunter said that Selby and others have been not only taking advantage of Williams’ wealth, but also enabling her to drink despite an ongoing battle with severe alcoholism.

Following the cancellation of the Wendy Williams Show in 2022, Williams had reportedly gone to rehab for a few months, but also allegedly relapsed last spring. Last month, she had been reportedly hospitalized for about two weeks as a result of her alcoholism and other health struggles.

Hunter said that no one from Wendy’s team had informed him that Williams had left the hospital or even told him of her whereabouts.

In The Sun interview, Hunter explained that he was very concerned for his mother’s health, saying: “There are a lot of people who are very aware that there is an issue with her drinking, and how that issue may be helped, but I think these people are taking advantage of it while allowing it to play out to make it look like they aren’t causing the issue.”

He also said that her circle believes that she needs to continue to earn money so that they can profit from her financially. He said that “what’s been made more important by the people around her is that while her health may not be great, she needs to keep on earning income, and in my opinion that should not be a priority at all. And whoever has been hired – they are taking advantage of someone who needs to get better.”

So far, reps for Williams have not issued a public statement.

Jaren Jackson Jr. Speaks on Ja Morant: 'He Gonna Be Right Back To Running the League'

Jaren Jackson Jr. is enjoying the NBA offseason, but he took some time to pull up on Podcast P with Paul George. Speaking with PG13 and the crew, JJJ showed love to his teammate Ja Morant.

“[Ja Mortant]’s good,” JJJ said. “I think just growing up with this much attention on you, like, especially being this young, it’s a lot to deal with. I mean, you’re always gonna make mistakes growing up and people gotta understand, growing up and you’re the most popular player at this age, probably ever theoretically….It’s insane. A lot of things back then that you could get away, you can’t do, you gotta be, a certain way….People always got to understand that everybody’s human.

“That’s my brother though. Like no matter what, like I stand by my brother and I think that’s like the lesson everybody should take away from this….Everybody’s gonna say whatever but they’re everybody, and it never matters at the end of the day. It’s your family, it’s your brother. That’s just how I am. It’s not like a code thing, that’s my dog, so I’m gonna ride with him. He’s gonna get right back to running the league like he does, he gonna get right back to jumping over everybody. He gonna get back to running it just like he does. He already knows that, you know, he works hard.”

Elsewhere in the podcast, Jaren Jackson Jr. speaks on the playoffs, specifically getting humbled and how it will help in the future, but he does get a reference in on LeBron James being old. “But [LeBron] is old and he kicked our ass. He kicked our ass and he’s old. He dropped 20 and 20. He’s thinking about retiring. I mean, he’s been playing since 03.”

You can see it all on the Podcast P with Paul George, Presented by Wave Sports + Entertainment below.

Ludacris Gives Jack Harlow His Co-Sign

Ludacris has officially endorsed Jack Harlow for his creative reimagining of Fergie’s 2007 track, “Glamorous.” As many know, Harlow heavily sampled the mid-aughts hit on his own song, “First Class.” According to Luda, he did justice to the original. In an interview with GQ, the Atlanta-born rapper discussed some of his most iconic tracks. These include “Southern Hospitality,” “Area Codes,” and “Move Bitch.” However, Ludacris also touched upon his collaboration with Fergie on “Glamorous.” The single was a huge, double-platinum hit from Fergie’s 2006 debut album, The Dutchess. Ludacris explained that when considering the collaboration, he had to take into account Fergie’s more pop-oriented style. The rapper himself has his own gritty, Southern sound.

In order to appear on the song, Ludacris apparently did some pretty deep thinking. The rapper posed the question to himself, “How does this fit into the Ludacris world?” He wanted to push his boundaries and surprise people with unexpected choices. He also wanted to explore new subject matter by collaborating with an artist who hadn’t been previously associated with him. Further explaining his approach, Luda said that he considers various factors when evaluating a record. Among those favtors are his belief in the song, its tempo, and the timing of its release.

Ludacris Speaks On Hip-Hop Purists And Sampling

Ludacris also spoke with GQ about his feelings on sampling songs. The magazine asked about the objections of Hip-Hop purists to artists sampling relatively new tracks like “Glamorous.” In response, Ludacris appeared unfazed and even supportive. In fact, he seemed to encourage it. The sample from Fergie’s popular song was featured in Jack Harlow’s chart-topping hit “First Class” in 2022. The song reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. While “Glamorous” could technically be considered a newer song, it is still 16 years old.

Ludacris expressed his approval of the sample. “How can I not be okay with it? I’m doing shows, and there’s a whole new generation that is identifying with the record, even if they haven’t heard my verse, simply because Jack Harlow is doing it over,” Luda said. “I feel like he did it justice. It would be different if it was a poor rendition, but it’s not. Jack Harlow did it exceptionally well, and I enjoy the record.” The rapper went on to acknowledge the viewpoint of Hip-Hop purists. However, he believes that if one refuses to accept what is new, they will only hinder themselves. He emphasizes the importance of embracing new developments, even if one may not personally like them. Do you agree with Ludacris? Sound off in the comments below to let us know!

The Fugees Reunite at Roots Picnic for What May Be Their Last Performance

Fugees Announce World Tour to Celebrate 25 Years of 'The Score'

The Roots Picnic went down in Philadelphia over the weekend and featured Lauryn Hill performing the 25th anniversary of her classic album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. Fans in attendance were treated to a surprise: The Fugees’ reunion.

Addressing the crowd, Hill revealed that the 25th anniversary of The Fugees wasn’t able to get rolling because of COVID, but she decided to bring out some friends, Pras and Wyclef Jean, for some fun. The Fugees hit the stage backed by The Roots.

“My brothers, my brothers, these are my brothers,” Hill said to the crowd.

The trio went into classics like “Ready or Not,” “Zealots,” and more.

You can see clips from the show via Ambrosia For Heads, social media, and more below.

The last reunion of The Fugees occurred in 2021 when the three legends hit New York City’s Pier 17. The show was supposed to start a 12-city run across the country that was canceled. Speaking with Billboard, Pras Michel called the reunion what “the culture really needed” and reveal how the team would get back on the same page for their performances.

“We let the music and our vibe and energy just naturally come out,” Pras said. “Then we heard the band doing their thing, putting it together and vibing. And it just started to feel like those old moments that made us so happy. Making music and just making people smile, so that made us smile too. It just made us feel good.”

He added, “One thing I would say about us is that everything has to feel organic. It’s not about anything but that. Because if it ain’t feel right for even one of us, I don’t think we would’ve been able to pull it off.”

Now the Roots Picnic performance may stand as the last time we see the trio on stage together as Pras faces 20 years after being found of political conspiracy.

According to the AP, Pras was accused of funneling money from now-fugitive Malaysian finance through straw donors to Barack Obama’s 2012 reelection campaign and then attempted to extradite the case on behalf of China during the Trump administration. The verdict stated that the rapper attempted to make cash by reinventing himself in politics.

Pras testified for himself in court in a trial featuring Leonardo DiCaprio’s testimony. Before court began, Pras turned down a plea deal. A sentencing date has not yet been set.

Bronny James’ USC Debut Revealed

Bronny James is one of the most-anticipated college players heading into the 2023/24 season. Ranked by ESPN as the #19 prospect of the 2023 class, James combines both talent and the name brand of being LeBron James’ son. After a months-long recruiting battle, James committed to USC alongside #1 recruit Isaiah Collier. That has reignited faith in a Trojans program that has stagnated in recent years.

USC has gone all-in on their best recruiting class in years. A price hike on tickets and a pre-season tour of Europe are both things being implemented ahead of their NCAA debut. With Collier and James on board, USC could see their first Final Four appearance since the 1950s. Speaking of that debut, USC has now revealed the team that Bronny and co. will be opening the season against.

USC To Face Kansas State In Las Vegas

First reported by CBS’ John Rothstein, multiple sources have confirmed that Bronny will make his college debut at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas in a November 6 matchup against Kansas State. Oregon versus Georgia will serve as a double-header matchup. It’s unclear whether this is part of a preseason tournament or a special headline season-opener. The matchup against Kansas State is the only fixture Rothstein announced. Bronny’s debut at the Galen Center is yet to be announced. Furthermore, a full schedule release is yet to be announced.

Kansas State went 26-10 last season, earning a three-seed in the NCAA Tournament. In a chaotic tournament, they reached the Elite Eight before falling to Florida Atlantic 79-76. USC and Kansas State would have met in the Sweet 16. However, ten-seed USC crashed out in the first round against Michigan State. The two teams have only ever met once previously, an 80-67 win for Kansas State in the first round of March Madness 2008. Follow all the latest sports news here at HotNewHipHop.

Antonio Brown Promises That He’ll Definitely Play For Arena League Team This Time

Antonio Brown’s time running an Arena League team has been spectacularly chaotic. Setting aside that he might not even be an owner of the team, it has been a mess. Players haven’t been paid, the team has gone 1-5 despite being the two-time defending champions. Furthermore, there is also talk of the minority owners suing Brown and the team dining and dashing on a $700 tab. It’s just real bad in upstate New York right now.

Trying to turn things around, Brown announced that he intended to suit up for the team. Brown was supposed to play for the team on May 27. However, despite a packed crowd for the game, Brown did not play. Amid claims of a scam and a PR stunt, Brown claimed that it was simply due to a clerical error and that his paperwork hadn’t been submitted to the league in time.

Antonio Brown Eyes June 17 Debut

In an interview with local Albany media, Brown said that he intended to play for the Empire on June 17. June 17 marks the next Empire home game, where they will host the Jacksonville Sharks. The two teams last met on May 20, when the Sharks blew out the Empire 79-34. It remains to be seen if Brown will actually go ahead with his first on-field performance since January 2022.

However, it’s not the only story surrounding the Empire right now. Reports surfaced last month that Brown was pursuing former NFL quarterback Cam Newton in an unknown capacity. However, Brown has since taken it a step further. Taking to Twitter, Brown made a major offer to Newton. “If anybody seen @CameronNewton let him know he haven’t thrown me a touchdown in a game yet and now we finally can make it happen @thealbanyempir 6/16/23 in Albany nyc ! I’m offering Cam 150k one game play with me please spam his account 🗣⏰ #AceBoogieToAB.” This is a developing story and we’ll have all the latest updates here at HotNewHipHop.

Ja Morant Punishment To Be Revealed After NBA Finals

Memphis Grizzlies superstar Ja Morant has been suspended from all team activities since May 14. The suspension came after a video of Morant flashing a gun on Instagram Live the day prior. It was Morant’s second such incident of the guard getting caught with a firearm on the live-streaming platform.

However, the NBA has been fairly hands-off in regard to punishing Morant. The league did not comment on the incident until May 16, when Commissioner Adam Silver said that he was “shocked” by the video. In response, Morant released a vague and generic apology. Despite this, no formal announcement from the league has come down yet.

No Announcement On Morant Until After Finals

Speaking at the NBA Finals press conference, Silver laid out the NBA’s plan for Morant. “We’ve uncovered a fair amount of additional information, I think, since I was first asked about the situation,” Silver said Thursday. “I will say we probably could have brought it to a head now. But we made the decision, and I believe the players association agrees with us, that it would be unfair to these players and these teams in the middle of the series to announce the results of that investigation.” Silver continued, speaking on Morant’s previous suspension. “If it had been a 12-game suspension instead of an eight-game suspension, would that have mattered? I know it seemed based on precedent, and he’s represented, and we want to be fair in terms of the league. It seemed appropriate at the time. That’s all I can say.”

Silver contained. “Maybe by definition to the extent we’ve all seen the video that it appears he’s done it again, I guess you could say maybe not. But I don’t think we yet know what it will take to change his behavior. Same thing I said at the time: He seems to be a fine young man. In terms of my dealings with him, I think he’s clearly made some mistakes, but he’s young, and I’m hoping now — once we conclude at the end of our process what the appropriate discipline is, that it’s not just about the discipline.”
