[WATCH] Rapper MC Shan Responds To Backlash Over Nas Statements

Screen Shot 2023 07 28 at 7.56.17 AM

Queens rapper MC Shan isn’t happy that fellow MC Nas left him out of the upcoming 50th Anniversary of Hip Hop show. He took to Instagram to air some grievances with Nas over his lack of inclusion and social media responded by attacking the veteran MC. Produced by Nas’ Mass Appeal, a Hip-Hop 50 Live show will be held at Yankee Stadium on August 11, with performers including Snoop Dogg, T.I., Fat Joe, Eve, Lil Kim, Trina, Common, Slick Rick and more.

While Hip Hop 50 Live will also include pioneers for a Pillar of Hip-Hop set – like Kurtis Blow, Melle Mel, Grandmaster Caz, Roxanne Shanté and others—Shan feels he should have been included.

It all began when MC Shan posted a video advising Nas not to mention his game again.

“I’m sitting here hearing that Nas is doing these muthaf*ckin’ 50th anniversary shows, right? Nas, if you doing 50th anniversary shows and you ain’t holla at ya mans, let me tell you something, my n*gga, don’t never mention my muthaf*ckin’ name again. Don’t put my name in ya mouth about nothing, n*gga,” he says in the scathing video. Shan pointed out what he sees as hypocrisy by people reaching out to praise him, but not following it up. “But I’m looking at it like this, n*gga: if you gettin’ n*ggas money on the 50th of Hip Hop, and you glorify me and say, ‘Yo, Shan this,’ and you ain’t call me and say, ‘Yo, Shan, I see what you doing, n*gga.’ “I done did a show with you muthaf*cka, but if you ain’t call me and that whole roster is full, n-gga, don’t never mention my mothaf*ckin’ name.”

Now Shan is clearing up any notions of him wanting anything from Nas he added that bloggers twisted his words.

See the video below.

Drake Hits NYC Hot Spot with 20 Women Following MSG Shows

Drake Teams with Snapchat to Launch Augmented Reality for Duration of 'It's All A Blur Tour'

Drake stepped out after his New York City show at Madison Square Garden, and in true Certified Lover Boy fashion, he had at least 20 women with him. According to PageSix, The Boy followed his MSG residency each night with an after-party at Mamo in Soho, where he was said to be surrounded by a “bevy of beauties.”

Why Mamo? Well, they hold Drake down whenever he wants to visit. “They close down for him all the time,” says our insider. “It’s super last-minute. They get hit up, and they accommodate him very well.”

Drake has wrapped up his time in New York City for the It’s All A Blur tour. Taking the stage during his final show at Madison Square Garden, Drake gave an update on when fans will be able to hear his For All The Dogs album.

Before departing the stage, Drake promised to return and gave the update.

“I will be back soon. I have an album dropping in, like, two weeks or some shit,” Drake said. “But until then, just know, you’re always with me and I’m always thinking of you and everything I do is for you. Every time I step in that booth, I hope to make you proud.”

Two weeks “or some shit” would put The Boy around a release date of August 11. You excited?

Fans have often said that Drake’s “got that dawg in him,” but this week, he took that statement literally as he was spotted leaving his hotel in New York City wearing a full-head dog mask.

Drake rocked the head-turning (or tail-wagging?) look on Thursday as he left his hotel to head to his performance at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The black and tan mask (which some say is a doberman while others say is a rottweiler), which covered his full face and neck, was complimented by a fresh New York Yankees baseball jersey and gray sweats and what appears to be a glass of white wine.

Luckily it appears that the “Hotline Bling” singer was able to see just fine through the mask’s eyeholes as he successfully made it to his show in Brooklyn (one of several in New York City over the past week). The performances were part of his “It’s All a Blur” U.S. tour with 21 Savage.

Drake’s family has been a part of his run across the country for the It’s All A Blur tour. In New York City, The Boy recently set up a residency, and his dad was present. While entering a hotel, a fan asked about his prospects of having a child, and Drake’s dad, Dennis Graham, offered some easy advice.

“Do you think that I could have a child one day, too?” a fan said. In response, Graham said “Keep fucking.”

And that will do it. You can see the moment below.

Drake’s tour has had various special guests from J. Cole to Yankees sluggers Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge. During night two of Drake’s Madison Square Garden stay for the It’s All A Blur tour, The Boy replaced his look-a-like for his mom in the opening and performed “Look What You’ve Done” to her.

Drake’s tour opens with the single, acting like he is reading the lyrics from his teenage rhyme book. The book is previously handed to him by a Degrassi-era lookalike. This time his mom took a seat on the couch. The touching moment led his mom to tears.

After rapping the lyrics to his mom, Drake hugged her before her tears flowed.

Jason Aldean forced to removed BLM protest clips and other clips from controversial “Small Town” video amidst copyright claims

Jason Aldean forced to removed BLM protest clips and other clips from controversial Small Town video amidst copyright claims

Country music star Jason Aldean has been stirring up controversy over the past week due to his controversial video for his equally controversial song “Try That in a Small Town.” This week, the video got a little shorter when his production company was forced to remove news clips (including six seconds that were apparently recorded during the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests) due to copyright claims from the videos’ owners.

A representative for BBR Music Group, which represents Aldean, confirmed to ABC News that the music video had been edited due to third party copyright clearance issues. Aldean’s production company allegedly reached out to FOX 5 Atlanta back in May, requesting permission to use a 6 second clip that showed violence at a BLM rally. Representatives for FOX 5 requested the lyrics in writing and instead they sent a link to the song, but failed to send it in writing (the FOX 5 Atlanta banner can be seen in the original video). In the original video, the video clip was broadcast on the courthouse behind Aldean as he sang. The new video shows Aldean singing up close. Another short news clip of a person speaking about farmers helping a neighbor was also pulled from the video, but it is unclear who the original copyright owner was for that clip.

The song originally stirred up controversy as many critics interpreted his lyrics to be problematic towards “outsiders” of a small town. The video, however, created even more controversy when it became known that a large part of it was filmed in the town square in front of the Maury County Courthouse in Columbia, Tennessee. In 1946, the area was the origin of the Columbia Race Riot, which occurred following a struggle between a Black World War II veteran and a white shopkeeper. (Aldean is not from the area himself, he is from Macon, which added to speculation that the site may have been chosen for less-than-honorable reasons.)

Country Music Television (CMT) pulled the video from its music video rotation, but the song’s controversy has caused it to rise to the top of many country and pop charts.
