Maino Reflects On Diddy’s Sexual Assault Allegations, Makes Comparisons To COINTELPRO

In a recent sitdown on The Baller Alert Show, Maino offered his perspective on the sexual assault allegations against Diddy. However, rather than focusing solely on the allegations themselves, Maino discussed historical parallels. Furthermore, he drew comparisons to the FBI’s COINTELPRO (Counterintelligence Program) operations against Black political leaders of decades past. “Do you think it’s an agenda to destroy popular Black men?” one of the hosts asked. “If you knew anything about history in the 60s, these were some of the tactics they used to destroy you,” Maino elaborated.

Moreover, Maino’s remarks began with a touch of humor, as he jokingly commented on the name of one of Diddy’s accusers, producer Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones. “You got some dude named Lil Rod,” Maino started. Then adding, “First of all, there should be a f*cking pause on his name. The n*gga’s name [is] Lil Rod? That’s pause.” Furthermore, moving beyond the lighthearted banter, Maino shifted the conversation towards a more serious tone, drawing parallels between the lawsuits accusing Diddy of sexual assault and the FBI’s COINTELPRO operations. He highlighted the tactics employed by the Bureau, including misinformation campaigns, false labeling of individuals as informants, and propaganda aimed at discrediting Black leaders and organizations.

Maino emphasized the impact of such tactics, noting that they were designed to divide and conquer communities. In addition, he further elaborated by saying that these types of organizations were created to bring disorganization and mistrust among communities. He compared between the tactics used by the FBI in the 1960s and the media-fueled allegations and investigations against Diddy today. He suggesting a pattern of undermining Black leadership and perpetuating disunity. “They would put out misinformation,” he said. “They would send out letters, and it keeps us disorganized.” “Also, propaganda, which is fueled through the media, has always been used,” Maino continued. Furthermore, by invoking the historical context of COINTELPRO, Maino shed light on the broader implications of the allegations against Diddy.

In addition, he framed them within a context of systemic oppression and injustice. His remarks serve as a reminder of the enduring legacy of government surveillance and interference in Black activism, highlighting the need for vigilance and solidarity in the face of adversity. Social media’s response was mixed. “Folks are really out here defending this dude wow,” one person wrote. “Great leader of whom? What are these entertainers leading?” another questioned. As Maino’s commentary demonstrates, the allegations against Diddy are not just about individual wrongdoing, but also about broader patterns of power and control. What are your thoughts on this subject? Let us know on HNHH!

Source Exclusive: Rip Micheals teases Tracy Morgan, D.L. Hughley, and other Big Name Stars for the 12th Annual April Fools Comedy Jam

Rip Micheals teases Tracy Morgan, D.L. Hughley, and other Big Name Stars for the 12th Annual April Fools Comedy Jam

Live comedy is officially back and if Rip Micheals has anything to say about it, better than ever as preparations are underway for the 12th Annual April Fools Comedy Jam. Comedy legend Rip Micheals sat down with the Source to talk about the upcoming show (taking place at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on Friday, April 5) which is a celebration of multi-generation comedy, hip-hop, and his health.

Straight away, Micheals explains that one notable thing about the show is that “it will be a mixture of hip hop and comedy.”

Micheals explains how he carefully curated a lineup of comedians from different generations, stating “we’ve got young and old and everything in between.”

Tracy Morgan is set to headline the show, which boasts a lineup including D.L. Hughley, Bruce Bruce, Nephew Tommy, Loni Love, DJ Envy, Jess Hilarious, London Brown, Chaunté Wayans, Torrei Hart, Brian Hooks, Cocoa Brown, and more. Musical guests will include Young Jeezy, GloRilla, and more.

For Micheals, who has been very public about his health struggles, the show has a deeper purpose.

“Laughter is healing,” he says. “Like, my name is actually ‘Rip Mic Heals. I’ve always been blessed with the gift from God to make people laugh and forget about the things that they’ve got going on in life.”

Micheals also talks about the importance that comedy played during the pandemic and in the years after and how he has tried to use his comedy and shows as healing mechanisms, saying that he sees comedy a an opportunity to heal people.

“A lot of people suffered from depression and anxiety issues [during the pandemic]. And I feel that since then, comedy has been a vessel to allow people to come out and just have a great time- and combined them with music too. So overall, we want to just make people feel good again and are trying to restore people back to what they were and looking forward to coming out and looking forward to life and just smiling at the pain and everything that they’ve been through.

As for his current state of health, Micheals explains that his heart health is at about 12-15% and he is currently on the heart transplant list, giving a shout out to the staff at the Mayo Clinic and Long Island Jewish Hospital as well as all of his fans that have supported him throughout his health journey and continue to support his comedic endeavors.

Rip emphasizes that his condition is genetic and says “I want to emphasize the importance of regular checkups, especially if heart conditions run in your family. There are steps you can take to protect your heart.”

Micheals emphasizes that he expects this year to be one of the best Comedy Jams in history, not just because of the lineup, but because of the passion of all that are involved in it.

While most people with such a heart condition might relax after such a major event, Michaels shows no signs of slowing down, laying out a list of other projects he has coming up in the near future including a comedy special set he just filmed at the Apollo in February, the second season of Urban Eats and Treats, Fall Back in Love Tour and acting..

In conclusion, he states: “I’m going to give it all of my heart that’s left in me.”

Doja Cat claps back at Hair Critics Following Release of New Single

Doja Cat claps back at Hair Critics Following Release of New Single

If you don’t have anything nice to say, Doja Cat would like you to say nothing at all. That was the theme of the singer’s message on an Instagram live video following criticism of a photo of her natural hair, which she posted as the cover art for her new single “Masc.”

Doja posted the picture of her tight blonde curls on Instagram on Friday with a clip of “Masc” and a debut date of April 5, 2024.

However, some commenters decided to be unreasonably negative, comparing her hair to popcorn, wool, and carpet, among other x-rated things, prompting the “Paint the Town Red” singer to disable comments before taking to Instagram Live to address the mean-spirited posters.

“I’m seeing a consistent pattern of people in the comments section of people saying ‘Is my hair pubic hair? Is it carpet or is it sheep’s wool?’ People comparing my hair to sheep and pubes and carpet and popcorn and sh** like that….you gotta move forward…let’s grow, let’s stop. I can’t tell you what to do, I’m not your f*cking parents, you know what I mean? I don’t want to say too much.”

Doja spent about ten seconds in silence just shaking her head before ending the video.

“Masc” is one of several singles that Doja has teased in anticipation of her upcoming release of ‘Scarlet’ Deluxe Edition. Doja is also currently set to headline at Coachella, followed by a tour in the United Kingdom and Europe.

Today in Hip-Hop History: Freaky Tah Of The Lost Boyz Shot And Killed In Queens 25 Years Ago

Screen Shot 2021 03 28 at 6.05.10 PM 689x400

It was a Sunday morning in 1999, where Raymond “Freaky Tah” Rogers of the legendary Lost Boyz was attending a party for a friend. Tragically, while leaving the party hosted at the Sheraton Hotel in Queens, NY, Tah was shot in retaliation for another murder he had nothing to do with.

According to a report on the case, published by MTV News at the time:

The feud that resulted in the death of Freaky Tah (born Raymond Rogers) can be traced back at least to the November [of the previous year], when a member of the Lost Boyz was robbed.” It continued with, “After the robbery… someone police believe was a ‘hanger-on’ in the Lost Boyz camp attempted to retaliate by shooting a man named Michael Saunders, who was a member of the Hellraisers camp. But Saunders, who was killed in the December shooting, actually had no involvement in the robbery.”

Twenty-two years later, Freaky Tah is still remembered and missed by the Hip Hop culture while the LB Fam sans DJ Spigg Nice, whose still serving his 37 years for armed robbery, recognize and commemorate the crew’s fallen soldier. Salute to Mr. Cheeks, Pretty Lou, his son Freaky Kah and the rest of the Lost Boyz family.

Will and Jada Smith’s Charitable Foundation Reportedly Shutting Down Amidst Oscars’ Slap Fallout

Will and Jada Smith's Charitable Foundation Reportedly Shutting Down Amidst Oscars' Slap Fallout

It’s been two years since the “slap heard round the world,” but the fallout continues for Will Smith– this time as his and wife Jada’s charitable foundation, the Will And Jada Smith Family Foundation, appears to be shutting down due largely to a drastic drop in donations following the 2022 altercation with Chris Rock.

An in-depth report by Variety found that tax records show that the organization’s revenue (which was funded largely by celebrity and corporate donors such as American Airlines and CAA) plummeted from $1,760,000 in 2020 and $2,138,660 in 2021 to $365,870 in 2022. As of 2022, the foundation did not employ any paid staff members. Publicly available financial records also show that the foundation had incurred over $3400 in bank overdraft fees in 2022. (All data was found in a ProPublica report, which is available to the public on their website.)

The foundation’s last social media posts were made on Instagram and Facebook in December of 2022.

The organization had also come under scrutiny for their significant donations to two smaller unknown charitable organizations- Rebecoming and World Rebirth Foundation, neither of which appears to have been an active organization for at least two years. (Other donations went to Big Brothers Big Sisters, the American Film Institute, and other well-known reputable charitable organizations.)

The only two major donors in 2022 came from an entity called “the WJS Trust” for $200,000 and Westbrook Media for $165,870.

As of Tuesday, neither Will nor Jada had made a public comment regarding the situation. Will, however, promoted his upcoming installment in the Bad Boys Franchise series (which is due for release in June).

According to the foundation’s website, “the Will & Jada Smith Family Foundation was founded in 1996 with the goal of making the world “better because we touched it.” Since then, WJSFF has invested millions of dollars and invaluable resources to accelerate the growth of initiatives that focus on deepening individual and collective empowerment.”

32 years ago today, Chi Ali released his first and only album The Fabulous Chi-Ali. Chi-Ali first appeared on De La Soul’s single “Say No Go” and on Black Sheep’s debut album, A Wolf In Sheep’s Clothing featured on “Pass the 40”. Chi Ali at the time was a core member of Native Tongues, a New York City-based hip-hop collective, and also had connections with the Legion family, along with Showbiz and A.G.

In 1992, Chi-Ali released his first solo single, “Age Ain’t Nothing But a #”, which was a moderate hit and reached #6 in the US Hot Rap Singles chart. The song was popular on urban radio stations, and the music video received good rotation on Yo! MTV Raps and Rap City. The album in which the song was featured was released shortly thereafter, which yielded two other singles; “Roadrunner” and “Funky Lemonade,” which were both remixed and re-recorded.

In the late 1990s, Chi-Ali appeared on Dres’s solo album, Sure Shot Redemption, and began featuring with other artists. His most recent collabo was with Jadakiss on a song entitled “G-Check”.

On January 14, 2000, Chi-Ali shot and killed a man during an argument in The Bronx. He was later arrested in 2001 for the death of his girlfriend’s brother, Sean Raymond, after spending a year evading police and even appeared on an episode of America’s Most Wanted. Chi-Ali hid in numerous East Coast cities until he was apprehended on March 5, 2001, in New York City and was subsequently convicted of the killing and served a 12-year bid at Sing Sing Correctional Facility.

Prodigy of Mobb Deep’s Voice Echoes Through Future’s New Album: A Historic Moment for Hip-Hop Unity

In a groundbreaking move that highlights the rich tapestry of hip-hop’s past and present, Future’s latest album features the iconic voice of Prodigy from Mobb Deep on multiple tracks. The inclusion of Prodigy’s voice not only pays homage to one of hip-hop’s most legendary figures but also promotes unity between different eras of hip-hop and cultural hubs like New York City and Atlanta.

The tracks on Future’s album that utilize Prodigy’s voice – “Claustrophobic,” “Don Juan/Princess Diana,” “Everyday Hussle,” “I’m Fried,” and “Too Obsessed/Rag Out” – serve as a bridge between the raw, gritty sound of Mobb Deep’s era and the modern trap-infused beats of Future’s style. This collaboration underscores the enduring influence of Mobb Deep and the importance of recognizing the contributions of hip-hop pioneers in shaping the genre.

Albert Johnson, better known as Prodigy, was born on November 2, 1974, and rose to prominence as one half of the legendary duo Mobb Deep. Beyond his role as a rapper, Prodigy was also an author and entrepreneur, leaving a lasting impact on both the music industry and literary world.

Prodigy’s catalog boasts an array of influential tracks, including classics like “Shook Ones (Part II),” “Survival of the Fittest,” and “Eye for an Eye (Your Beef Is Mines).” These songs not only showcase Prodigy’s lyrical prowess but also delve into themes of social injustice and the realities of prison life, reflecting his unapologetic stance on pressing issues facing African American communities.

Aside from his musical achievements, Prodigy was a prolific author, penning several books throughout his career. His autobiography, “My Infamous Life: The Autobiography of Mobb Deep’s Prodigy,” offered fans a glimpse into his tumultuous journey through fame and adversity. Additionally, Prodigy’s unexpected foray into culinary arts resulted in the publication of “Commissary Kitchen: My Infamous Prison Cookbook,” showcasing his creativity and resilience even in the face of incarceration.

The release of Prodigy’s debut solo album, “H.N.I.C.,” in November 2000 marked a significant milestone in his career. Produced by industry heavyweights like Havoc, The Alchemist, and Just Blaze, the album showcased Prodigy’s versatility as an artist and solidified his status as a force to be reckoned with in hip-hop.

Future’s decision to incorporate Prodigy’s voice into his album not only pays homage to a rap icon but also serves as a testament to the enduring legacy of Mobb Deep and the ongoing evolution of hip-hop culture. As fans eagerly anticipate the release of Future’s album, they can take a trip down memory lane with Prodigy’s timeless classics, ensuring that his voice continues to resonate across generations of hip-hop enthusiasts.

In addition, Prodigy’s influence extends beyond the realm of featured collaborations, as his new posthumous album, The Hegelian Dialectic Volume 2: The Book Of Heroine, released in September 2022 by the Estate of Prodigy, further solidifies his legacy. This album serves as the second chapter of Prodigy’s The Hegelian Dialectic trilogy, following the release of The Hegelian Dialectic (The Book Of Revelation) in 2017 ahead of his death.

Featuring collaborations with DJ Premier, Faith Evans, Big Daddy Kane, Remy Ma, DJ Scratch, Berto Rich, Chinky, and Big Noyd, The Hegelian Dialectic Volume 2: The Book Of Heroine continues Prodigy’s exploration of profound themes and musical innovation. Prodigy’s three-part project, The Hegelian Dialectic, was conceived over the past few years during his lifetime, showcasing his enduring creativity and dedication to pushing the boundaries of hip-hop artistry.
