Just the other day, Tupac Shakur’s iconic Gold, Ruby, and Diamond Crown Ring, personally designed and commissioned by the legendary rapper in 1996, achieved a groundbreaking milestone at auction, selling for an astounding $1,016,000. This historic sale marks the most valuable Hip Hop artifact ever sold at auction and the only one to surpass the $1 million mark, surpassing its estimated value by more than triple.

Turn the page to today, and Drake is flexing the ring on Instagram to promote his new verse on UTOPIA, in which he dissed Pusha T, referencing Pharrell’s jewelry that he also purchased.

Worn by Tupac during his final public appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards in 1996, the ring holds a sentimental inscription “Pac & Dada 1996,” a reference to his engagement to Kidada Jones, his sweetheart.

The auction, which saw an impressive total of $1.8 million, ranks as the second-highest for a dedicated Hip Hop sale at Sotheby’s. Tupac’s custom crown ring embodies his signature aesthetic and is a treasured piece of Hip Hop history. The design, inspired by the crowns of medieval European kings, reflects Tupac’s act of self-coronation and his triumphant journey through a turbulent life. The ring’s central cabochon ruby and diamond embellishments add to its regal symbolism, linking it to the imagery of monarchy and wealth. Bullets Recovered From Nevada Home to be Tested for Possible Link to Those That Killed Tupac

Details of an investigation into a Las Vegas home in connection to the murder of Tupac Shakur continue to pour out. The Daily Mirror notes .40 caliber bullets were recovered from the home belonging to Duane “Keefe D” Davis. Davis long suggested his nephew, Orlando Anderson, killed 2Pac.

The bullets are set to have forensic testing “to determine if they have any link to the bullets found in 2Pac’s body or on the scene of the homicide.”

An insider to the case revealed, “Microfibers or residues from the weapon or the bullet could prove to be a link. There is no information yet on the history of the bullets, how old they are or their significance. And it will take some time to assess how the bullets play a role in this case.”

Previously, a list of items taken from the raid of a Las Vegas-area home that is reportedly tied to the murder of Tupac Shakur has been revealed. According to TMZ, laptops, iPads, a USB, and a hard drive were secured from the home. Books and pictures were also taken from the scene. Of the books was Keefe D’s Compton Street Legends.

On Tuesday (July 18), news broke of a search warrant executed in Las Vegas in connection with the 1996 murder of Tupac. According to TMZ, the home was owned by a woman named Paula Clemons, the wife of Keefe D, who has long been at the center of conversation involving Pac’s death.

The warrant was executed in Henderson, Nevada, which does not have a statute of limitations for prosecuting homicide cases.

“LVMPD can confirm a search warrant was served in Henderson, Nevada on July 17, 2023, as part of the ongoing Tupac Shakur homicide investigation,” Las Vegas police said in a statement. “We will have no further comment at this time.”

According to CBS News, retired Los Angeles police detective Greg Kading stated the case was solved as Keefe D, born Duane Davis, confessed to his involvement in the crime while he was being questioned in connection with the murder of The Notorious B.I.G. Details of what was recovered at the Nevada home if anything, have not been disclosed.

In April 2022, on the Bomb1st podcast, Former Death Row muscle Reggie Wright Jr. added more to the rumor mill about the 1996 murder of Tupac Shakur, saying that the last man alive in the car which fired the fatal shots that killed Shakur will be charged with the decades-old crime this year.

Wright says that the Las Vegas Police Department has been ramping up their investigation into the Shakur murder.

“Let’s put it this way, I bet Keefe D [has] been having the runs for the last two weeks,” Wright said. “Because yeah, they are knocking on doors and there’s some activity.” Wright even made a challenge out of the rumors and urged viewers to predict the date on which Keefe D will be arrested this year while promising a prize to whoever predicts the correct date.

The Newly-Revived Tupac Las Vegas Murder Investigation Led To An Intense SWAT Raid

Earlier this week, Las Vegas Police told TMZ they’d served a search warrant at a home in Henderson, Nevada in connection with the long-dormant Tupac Shakur murder case. The past few days have brought more details; it was reported that the home in question was potentially linked to a man who was suspected of being the one to shoot Tupac in 1996. Now, TMZ has acquired footage of the incident at the home, which saw a SWAT team busting into the home at around 10 PM.

It still remains to be seen what evidence police were searching for at the home or whether they found it. The home is owned by Paula Clemons, the wife of Keefe D., a man who claims to be the uncle of Orlando Anderson. Anderson and Keefe were jumped by Tupac and his crew at the MGM Grand the night of September 7, 1996; later, Tupac was shot to death in a drive-by on the Las Vegas Strip. Anderson was posited as the perpetrator as it was thought he wanted revenge for the earlier beatdown.

In 1998, Los Angeles Sheriffs recovered a gun at a home in Compton they believed belonged to one of the Southside Compton Crips who was in Las Vegas at the time; meanwhile, Clemons was found to have owned a home in Compton around the same time. Of course, until the police reveal more, it would be irresponsible to speculate. We’ll see if the investigation leads to answers in the nearly 30-year-old case.

A Recent Search Warrant For Tupac’s Murder Investigation Was Allegedly Tied To The Rumored Killer’s Uncle

Earlier this week, it was reported that Las Vegas Police had served a search warrant in nearby Henderson in connection with the 1997 murder of Tupac Shakur. Today, more information was revealed about the nature of the warrant — and its connection to the long-cold murder case. According to TMZ, the address on the warrant had connections to a man who claimed to have been an accessory to the shooting on the Las Vegas Strip.

The home that the police searched belongs to Paula Clemons, a woman married to a character in the 26-year-old drama named Keefe D. Keefe D claims to be the uncle of Orlando Anderson, a man many believe to have been the triggerman in the shooting. After he was jumped by Tupac and his crew at the MGM Grand, many observers believe Anderson plotted to get revenge in the drive-by shooting that killed Tupac later that night. While Anderson himself denied such claims, he was later killed in a shooting himself, making it impossible for him to corroborate or deny Anderson’s claims.

Clemons comes into the picture by virtue of previously owning a home in Compton, where LA Sheriffs recovered a gun in 1998 that might be connected to the murder. TMZ pulls a lot of yarn here, subtly suggesting that these events are connected — the home where the gun was recovered might be the home Clemons owned, and that gun might have been the one that did the dirty deed.

Well, Las Vegas Police clearly believed that the connection was strong enough to justify searching Clemons’ home in Henderson, searching for more evidence connecting to the murder. After 25 years, it seems unlikely, but hey, there have been a few cold cases over the years solved decades later.

Tupac’s Decadeslong Murder Investigation Continues After Las Vegas Police Served A Warrant In Nearby Henderson

For the past 25-ish years, the murder of Tupac Shakur has remained hip-hop’s great unsolved mystery. But despite being nearly three decades old, the case has apparently never gone completely cold. Las Vegas Police recently sent out a press release notifying journalistic outlets that a warrant was served in nearby Henderson.

The statement reads, “LVMPD can confirm a search warrant was served in Henderson, Nevada on July 17, 2023, as part of the ongoing Tupac Shakur homicide investigation. We will have no further comment at this time.”

There’s not much to make of, there. After all, while the (possibly paired) murders of Tupac and friend-turned-enemy The Notorious BIG have been biopic inspiration and gossip fodder for the past 20 years, most of what’s out there has been speculation. The killings remain a subject of fascination largely due to the levels of celebrity involved, and the fact that two hip-hop icons were embroiled in a bitter war of words at the time of their deaths.

But much of the mythmaking has taken place after the fact; in 2021, Fat Joe claimed he’d worked with BIG on an album full of Tupac disses — a narrative subtly supported in 2022 by Busta Rhymes. Diddy also compared Jay-Z to the two late rappers. Meanwhile, FX recently aired a documentary about Tupac’s mom that generated a fair amount of buzz.

Ultimately, though, if police really found anything incriminating, they’d likely lead with that.

Jim Jones Credits Tupac For Inspiring Dipset With Their Use Of Beef As Marketing

Recently, Jim Jones sat down for a Roc Nation roundtable interview on Wednesday (June 28) and revealed how the legendary Tupac Shakur inspired Dipset. Moreover, Capo stated that the West Coast icon was instrumental in synthesizing rap beef as an effective promotional strategy for MCs. Still, it’s an unfortunate thing to commend, as rap beef is supposedly why Tupac met the early fate he did. Regardless, when the Diplomats were blowing up on the East Coast and beyond, they took cues from his biggest points of success. Jones is by no means the first to remark this, but it just goes to show how influential Tupac’s legacy is, for better or worse.

“The beef inside of hip-hop is not a mixtape thing,” Jim Jones remarked. “It’s a hip-hop thing. It’s a lot of n***as that got a lot of ego, puttin’ them in the same room, and s**t is bound to happen. But the mixtapes heightened a lot of situations, because now, it could be totally unfiltered. At that time in hip-hop, we was watching Tupac and all of them, and watching how successful they was gettin’ goin’ cr*zy on everybody. It was a whole era right there where this was a marketing tool that was working for major labels and artists at the time that had the upper hand.”

Jim Jones’ Remarks On Mixtapes & Beef

Of course, this rings especially true these days because the New York rapper started some beef of his own. For those unaware, he just launched a diss track against Pusha T, who had some subliminal bars for Jim Jones on an unreleased Clipse track previewed at Pharrell’s Louis Vuitton show at Paris Fashion Week. The whole beef started when Jones dismissed Push’s placement on Billboard‘s list of the 50 best rappers of all time. We’re still in the early stages of that beef, as the Virginia native has yet to make an official diss record.

Meanwhile, for as many subliminals and sneaks disses Push could throw, it’s impossible to determine a “winner” until we have two released tracks to compare. Not only that, but Jones also called it more of a rap battle of skill than it was actual beef. Either way, there’s more conversation around him than there’s been in a while, so clearly it worked.
