Las Vegas Police Have Reportedly Arrested A Man Connected With The 1996 Murder Of Tupac Shakur

Las Vegas police have reportedly arrested a man allegedly connected with the 1996 murder of rapper Tupac Shakur. According to the Associated Press, officials with knowledge of the case but not permission to share details ahead of the official indictment confirmed that police arrested Duane “Keefe D” Davis early today. The sources were not able to share the exact charge on which he was arrested, however.

Davis has repeatedly admitted to his involvement in the Vegas Strip drive-by shooting that killed Tupac, writing in his 2019 memoir Compton Street Legend that he was a passenger in the car from which the shots were fired, and even implicating his nephew Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson in pulling the trigger. However, Anderson was killed in a shooting in Compton two years later, and Davis is likely the last living person of the four occupants of the assailants’ vehicle.

Retired Los Angeles police detective Greg Kading, who investigated the case and also wrote a book about it, said, “People have been yearning for him to be arrested for a long time. It’s never been unsolved in our minds. It’s been unprosecuted.” He credited the renewed investigation to the release of Davis’ book, which he said gave “Las Vegas the ammunition and the leverage to move forward. Prior to Keefe D’s public declarations, the cases were unprosecutable as they stood… He put himself squarely in the middle of the conspiracy. He had acquired the gun, he had given the gun to the shooter and he had been present in the vehicle when they hunted down and located both Tupac and Suge (Knight).”

The long-dormant Tupac case gained momentum earlier this summer when it was reported that police had raided a home in connection with the case. It was later revealed that the home belonged to Davis’ wife, suggesting that new evidence had surfaced. An official announcement is expected to be made later today.

When Jada Pinkett Smith And Tupac Lip-Synced To Will Smith In A Throwback Video, She Never ‘Dreamed’ She And Smith Would Get Together

Jada Pinkett Smith has often spoken about her relationship with the late Tupac Shakur, and she brought it up again in a pair of recent Instagram posts, in which she shared a video of her and the rapper dancing and lip-syncing to, of all songs, Will Smith’s “Parents Just Don’t Understand.”

Sharing the two-minute clip on Instagram yesterday (September 20), Pinkett Smith wrote, “Here is part of the original video of Pac and I doing a terrible job at lip syncing Parents Just Don’t Understand.”

That post came shortly after another one in which Pinkett Smith shared a short passage about the clip, from her memoir Worthy. It reads, “Not in a million years would I have dreamed that the Fresh Prince and I would become, um, very acquainted. Not in a million years did I imagine three lives, their fates, would be so intertwined. And… I never would have imagined that this video would become a tangible memory, of the last time Pac and I, were simply kids together. Pac and I lip syncing Parents Just Don’t Understand by Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince during our Junior year in high school. Who would have thought?”

Faith Evans Reveals That Biggie Smalls Allegedly Let Her Collab With Tupac

Faith Evans recently sat down with the Marriage or Mirage podcast to talk about her ideal man, and of course, her forever love Biggie Smalls. See, the narrative is that Tupac Shakur’s iconic diss track “Hit ‘Em Up,” which solidified his legendary feud with The Notorious B.I.G., addresses that Evans cheated on Big with ‘Pac. You know the line, so no need to repeat it here. However, the R&B singer clarified during her conversation with the podcast hosts that things didn’t actually pan out this way. The California MC collaborated with her, for which the New York rapper gave his blessing, and their picture together that sparked infidelity rumors means nothing.

“I didn’t know ‘Pac was signed to Death Row, you know what I’m sayin?” Faith Evans began. “Or I never would’ve agreed to do a song with him. When I went to the studio with ‘Pac, when I met him, he said: ‘I wanna do a song with you.’ I told Big, he said: ‘D’you wanna do it?’ I said: ‘Yeah, if he got the money.’ I didn’t hide anything, I told my husband,” she remarked, saying that she let Biggie know when she realized she was working with a bunch of Death Row members.

Faith Evans On Marriage Or Mirage

In addition to this, the 50-year-old also shared what she loved the most about her late husband. “Everything,” Faith Evans stated. “I loved everything about him. He was honest, you understand? One thing about him, even at that young age… honest! Yo, I respect it. I’m like, I can’t take nothing else.” Furthermore, she spoke on one time that she asked Biggie if he had relations with another woman, and he admitted to it on the spot. “Honest as f**k,” she reiterated. “Most of the time I didn’t know what was going on but when I did and I asked him, he told the truth.”

Meanwhile, we’re sure that this won’t be the last time that this beef history will see reevaluation. It’s one of hip-hop’s most fascinating, albeit tragic, backstories to reflect on and unearth. The most important enduring aspect is each artist’s legacy beyond it, and the love that Big and Faith shared. With that in mind, come back to HNHH for the latest news and updates on Faith Evans, Biggie Smalls, and Tupac Shakur.

Allen Hughes Knew Tupac Would Be Dead After The Release Of Hit Song

Allen Hughes continues to share behind-the-scenes information about his relationship with legendary rapper, Tupac Shakur. The filmmaker recently joined Michael Rapaport to talk about his rapport with the artist. HipHopDx shared some information about this discussion that reveals another dour claim around the world-stopping death of perhaps the most well-known and influential hip-hop artist of all time. Hughes is a very candid person, as we have known for quite some time now, and he was not afraid to share a prediction that might surprise you.

Both Rapaport and Hughes discuss one of Tupac’s biggest hits ever, “Hit ‘Em Up.” The director recalled the first time he listened to the extremely aggressive cut and he felt it had some severe underlying results. Hughes talked to Interscope Records co-founder Jimmy Iovine after he played it for him. We can only imagine the reaction Iovine had but Hughes said to him, “‘Him and 2Pac and/or Suge [Knight] would be dead in less than six months.’ Hughes continues, “And it wasn’t the words; it was the energy. It’s the power of how he did it — particularly the outro.”

This Is Not The First Time Allen Hughes Has Done This

We can see why Hughes feels this way, especially with the threatening lyrics from Tupac. For example, he proclaims, “Out here in California, n****, we warned ya / We’ll bomb on you motherf*****s! We do our job! / You think you mob? N****, we the motherf*****g mob!” Ironically Hughes made this statement a few days before the tragic day of September 7, 1996. But, this is not the only time Hughes has shared his thoughts on the never-ending mystery. Although, he does not believe it is a mystery. “In the community, as we know, and in the streets, there was never a mystery to who killed 2Pac. What happened that night at the MGM Grand Casino and that violent incident that 2Pac and gang had with that individual — again, that guy [supposedly Orlando Anderson], everyone knows, came back and shot 2Pac.”

What are your initial thoughts on Allen Hughes making this bold prediction? What theory or story do you believe in relation to Tupac’s death? Why do you think there are so many different claims about the rapper’s passing? We want to hear what you have to say about all of this. With that in mind, be sure to leave all of your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below. Lil Xan Looks Back On His Controversial Tupac Comments, Clarifies Them

Lil Xan emerged during a time in hip-hop where disrespecting and undervaluing the old guard was the norm. Moreover, he called Tupac Shakur “boring” during a 2018 interview, which made old heads and younger fans alike immediately discredit him. Other examples of this included Lil Yachty calling Biggie Smalls “overrated,” but Xan’s comments rang especially blasphemous to many. However, the California MC’s grown a lot since then, and believes he finds himself in a much better space these days. While speaking to AllHipHop for an interview, he explained the circumstances behind it, but interestingly enough, maintained that he wouldn’t change it if he had the chance today.

“That interview should’ve never even been aired ‘cause I wasn’t in a good place during the interview,” Lil Xan stated. “I was angry at that time. And all that came down to was a result of me just trying to get the interview done quicker. I was like, ‘Next question. Next question.’ And then they just give me questions and I’m messing around.

Lil Xan’s Interview With AllHipHop Explains Tupac Comments

“I think Tupac is a legend,” Lil Xan continued. “I don’t have to explain myself to anybody, but I grew up on a lot of old school West Coast, a lot of old school East Coast. But after that, that was just a little mishap. It was the result of me not being as mature as I am today. Inexperienced with interviews a lot, too. If you would ask me if I could go back and rewrite that, I wouldn’t though. Because it started an interesting conversation in hip-hop. I did get a lot of backlash, of course, but as the years have gone by since that moment, it started what I think is a very good conversation in hip-hop.

“Why do these new cats in hip-hop that weren’t even born when someone like Tupac was around, why do they have to idolize them like the older people?” the 26-year-old posited. “They can appreciate the craft and the music. It’s good. It’s amazing. It’s better than good. But if you think about it like that, that’s some hating stuff right there.” For more news and the latest updates on Lil Xan, stay posted on HNHH.

J. Cole Compared Burna Boy To Tupac When They First Met

Afrobeats have been increasing in popularity in the United States for years now and one of the biggest reasons for that is Burna Boy. The rapper has been a torch bearer for the genre who has seen its success through to a number of new milestones. In 2020 he scored his first top 20 album with Twice As Tall, only to eclipse that in 2022 when his album Love, Damini debuted inside the top 10 of the Billboard 200. While the numbers on his newest release won’t be in until this weekend, but with the project already racking up millions of Spotify streams it’s likely to get pretty high.

Burna Boy hasn’t just been impressive for his numbers, he’s also achieved some major cosigns. His new album features appearances from RZA, GZA, Dave, 21 Savage, and J. Cole. It was that last feature that he discussed in a recent appearance on the Rap Radar podcast. He told the story of ending up in the studio with Cole and the rapper being impressed with his performance. “This n*gga’s Tupac reincarnated in Africa,” Burna claims he said. Check out this entire portion of the interview below.

Burna Boy Recalls Tupac Comparison

The Tupac comparison isn’t the only time J. Cole has had high praise for Burna Boy. On their recent collaboration, he had even more high praise for the pair as a duo. “Cole and Burna, Shaq and Kobe/ Winnin’ a ring, then we gon’ repeat and three-peat/ Them nerds hate, they seat geeks/ They peepin’ us on the low, we like the cheat sheet,” Cole raps. Cole is no stranger to basketball comparisons either so he knows exactly what he’s saying by equating them to Shaq and Kobe.

Burna Boy has long found success recruiting artists from all over the world to join in on his music. His previous album featured Ed Sheeran, J Balvin, Popcaan, Khalid, J Hus, Kehlani, and many more. What do you think about J. Cole’s high praise for Burna Boy? Let us know in the comment section below.

Burna Boy Said J. Cole Called Him ‘Tupac Reincarnated In Africa’ During Their First Meeting

As Afrobeats continues to rise in prominence both stateside and abroad, Burna Boy has been the Afrobeats artist at the forefront of the movement. Earlier this year, he became the first Nigerian artist to headline a US stadium after also headlining the NBA’s All-Star Game halftime show and J. Cole’s Dreamville Festival while demand for his guest verses skyrocketed among contemporaries like J Hus and Byron Messia.

His popularity is such that J. Cole even compared him to Tupac. Sitting with the Rap Radar Podcast, Burna recounted how he ended up in the studio with J. Cole and a group of “tall as hell” basketball players, where the North Carolina rapper said, “This n****’s Tupac reincarnated in Africa” after hearing Burna “going off” for a few minutes. The bashful Burna says he shrugged off the comparison, but it wouldn’t be totally unfounded.

Although Burna hasn’t talked about it much recently, he’s been a proponent of the “One Africa” movement and refused to perform in South Africa for political reasons in 2020. Meanwhile, like Tupac, he’s been outspoken about authoritarian abuses, best embodied in his video for “Monsters You Made.” The two artists’ shared Pan-Africanist views are likely what prompted Cole to make the comparison, although they also share similar cultural impact and popularity as well.

The results of Burna and Cole’s collaboration will can be found on Burna’s new album I Told Them…, out now via Spaceship Records and Atlantic Records.

Keefe D’s Bullets From Police Search Don’t Match Crime Scene In Tupac Murder Case

The murder case of Tupac Shakur has been a mystery for decades at this point, and is currently being revisited in court. Moreover, it relates to suspect Duane Keith “Keefe D” Davis, a member of the South Side Compton Crips. Recently, ABC News revealed body cam footage from the police search that SWAT officials carried out in Nevada at Keefe D’s home with a search warrant. Furthermore, they gathered many items, including his stash of bullets in his house. According to these reports, this ammunition does not match the shell casings that the original crime scene held.

Of course, the immediate reaction to this is that Keefe D is actually innocent in the legendary rapper’s murder. However, neither news reports nor police authorities themselves commented on this or have provided confirmation on the implications of this discovery. Still, officials maintained that, no matter what these discoveries imply, Keefe is an important witness in the case. Not only that, they suggested that he knows what truly happened the night of Tupac’s death. Given how long it’s been since then, it’s still unclear what else the court could discover in this case.

“Items retrieved from the home included computers, hard drives and pictures from the 1990s,” an official from the case told the news outlet. “[They] apparently show individuals who might have been connected to people directly or indirectly involved in the drive-by shooting.” Previously, Keefe D stated that he sat next to ‘Pac’s alleged killer, Keefe’s nephew Orlando Anderson. Unfortunately, Anderson passed away due to a gang shooting in 1998 separate from this case. This makes Keefe the only living witness to the crime besides Suge Knight, who could testify in this case.

Meanwhile, Knight previously refused to cooperate with authorities on this, though a subpoena might change things. In addition, a police official expressed in reports that it could take months for a Vegas grand jury to determine indictment based on evidence from Keefe D’s home. As such, it will likely be some time before this case significantly moves forward- if at all. On that note, stick around on HNHH for the latest news and updates on the current Tupac Shakur murder case.

[WATCH] Napoleon Says Tupac Respected Ice Cube So Much He Would Have Dissed Common

Tupac had his fair share of beef during his career, but according to Napoleon, Pac had his eyes set on Chicago legend Common. In The Art of Dialogue, Napoleon revealed that his love for Ice Cube made him want to go at Common. In case you are unfamiliar, Common and Ice Cube had an exchange in the 90s, which clearly settled as they starred in Barbershop together and shared the stage multiple times.

“I remember when the East Coast/West Coast thing was heating up, I think Common and Cube was going through their beef, like they were dissing each other,” Napoleon said. “I remember ‘Pac was like, ‘See, if I was cool with Cube right now, I’d be going after Common for him, but now I’m staying out of it.’”

Napoleon revealed Pac had love for Cube, stating, “I never heard him say anything negative about him.”

Shedding more on the Common side, Napoleon thinks he and Pac are similar. “Good thing he didn’t go at Common ’cause they like the same. If they ever had met each other, they would’ve had a lot of love and respect for each other.”

Drake Treated Himself To A Million-Dollar Purchase Of A Truly Special Piece Of Tupac Memorabilia

Today (July 28), Drake took to Instagram to show off his latest extravagant jewelry purchase: none other than a ring that previously belonged to Tupac. Earlier this week, on Monday, Sotheby’s auction house had revealed that they had sold it for $1,016,000, despite originally being priced at $200,000 to $300,000, per XXL.

Tupac’s previous ring isn’t just an ordinary one either. Shaped into a crown, it is covered in gold, rubies, and diamonds. Specifically, from the Sotheby’s description, it is a 14-karat, plus five karats of diamonds — and then, you add in the other gems. It also has a unique personal touch, as “Pac & Dada, 1996” is etched into the ring.

In Drake’s reveal that he was the new owner, he posted a pic of the item on his story, complete with a celebratory caption in Travis Scott’s honor — as the fellow rapper dropped his new album, Utopia, today.

“UTOPIA OUT NOW MELTDOWN,” Drake wrote.

Before Drake purchased it, the ring had been reportedly in Yaasmyn Fula’s, Outlawz’s Yaki Kadafi’s mother, personal collection. Sotheby’s had hosted the sale as part of their 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop acknowledgement — pointing out that he wore it during his final public appearance at the 1996 MTV Video Music Awards.

“That ring is a powerful symbol. Whoever wore that ring had to accept that they have a responsibility to have an impact on the world,” Fula said in their Instagram post.

Check out a video of Tupac’s ring here.
