J. Cole is getting ready to introduce fans to his latest work. While on stage at the It’s All a Blur – Big as the What? Tour in Tampa, Cole revealed The Fall Off is almost done.
“I’m at the tail-end of working on this album I’ve been working on for a long time,” Cole said. “It’s called The Fall Off.”
To borrow a phrase from today’s cool kids, J. Cole is back outside. In 2023 alone, the “No Role Modelz” rapper has connected with several of his rap friends, including Lil Durk, Bas, and Lil Yachty, to flood the market with fresh verses.
Along the way, he even secured his first No. 1 record, thanks to Drake’s “First Person Shooter.” But fans are desperate for Cole to step away from the collaborations for a moment to drop solo material. Fortunately, the wait could be over soon. With a few previously teased projects still in limbo, what does Cole plan to release first? According to a video circulating online, Cole’s putting all his efforts into wrapping up his highly-anticipated album, The Fall Off.
Is J. Cole’s New Album’ The Fall Off’ Finished?
According to J. Cole, the long-awaited project is nearly complete. In a video captured by one concertgoer during the opening night of the It’s All A Blur Tour — Big As The What? he shared a status report on the album.
“Right now, I’m at the tale end of working on this album,” he said. “This album that I’ve been working on for a long time. It’s called ‘The Fall Off,’ but I don’t know how many people know about it. I feel like I ain’t never said that sh*t out loud, but I’m right there. And as I approach the end, I just be thinking to myself and rethinking sh*t.”
But The Fall Off isn’t the only body of work Cole teased to supporters. Back in 2020, Cole took to Instagram to share a photo suggesting that before The Fall Off, he planned to release another album titled It’s A Boy. So, could Cole have plans to release a two-pack as a token of appreciation for supporters’ patience? Or is that another musical dream deferred, like the collaboration album with Kendrick Lamar? The world will know soon enough.

J Cole is a rapper who has a tremendous amount of respect from his peers. Overall, that respect is well-deserved. After all, he is one of the best rappers in the game right now. Moreover, he has delivered classic albums, mixtapes, and songs. Furthermore, he has been on a very nice feature run as of late. He was just on a track with Lil Yachty, and he even got to be on “First Person Shooter” with Drake. Simply put, Cole is a name that is not going away, even if you are one of the few who despise him.
In fact, soon, Cole will supposedly be releasing a new album called The Fall Off. In the eyes of many, this is a pretty ironic name given the fact that he hasn’t actually fallen off yet. Instead, one could say he is near the top of his game. He continues to deliver great music and has captured the attention of millions. However, as he told Yachty on the A Safe Place podcast, there is a good reason behind the name. It all has to do with a conversation he once had with himself.
Essentially, Cole started to find himself losing a bit of his edge. It led to him questioning himself and his hunger for succes. “Oh, you lost a step in this regard,” Cole reasoned with himself. “I had a real talk with myself… ‘You made it to where you wanted to make it to. Do you wanna keep going or do you just want to chill and go start a family? Do you want to retire right now?’” It seems like Cole has regained that step, although his album title serves as a reminder of how he once caught that slippage.
Hopefully, we get a timetable in regards to this album, sooner rather than later. Let us know what you think of this upcoming project name, in the comments section below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. We will continue to keep you informed.
It has been over two years since J. Cole’s last album The Off-Season, and fans can’t wait for his next album, The Fall Off. He’s been teasing it for some time, but what exactly does he mean by titling it “The Fall Off?”
He’s gone into some detail before, but today, he gave much more insight while appearing on Lil Yachty’s ASafe Space Podcast. He tells his “Secret Recipe” collaborator that the title originated from a moment in which he felt “comfortable” with his success and began contemplating retirement.
“Oh, you lost a step in this regard,” he told himself, talking about his usually witty lyrics. “I had a real talk with myself… ‘You made it to where you wanted to make it to. Do you wanna keep going or do you just want to chill and go start a family? Do you want to retire right now?’”
The answer was that if he was going to walk away from the rap game, he wanted to do so at the height of his powers, not after a long … fall off.
Cole previously addressed the subject in his cover story for Slam, saying, “It was the first time that I became conscious of, like, Oh, this is where n****s fall off. This is where it happens. This is the point where it takes place, where the n****s that you love, when it just didn’t hit the same. It was literally like looking at a fork in the road. OK, you can go this way and continue to grow and get better, and push yourself and still feel feelings of exhilaration when you tap into new sh-t and move on. Or, you can go this way and live a more comfortable life that’s less inspired, less push, less stretching yourself, and getting out of your comfort zone.”

Reason’s issues with Top Dawg Entertainment spilled out into the public eye last week. The TDE rapper and label president Moosa went head-to-head on the Bacc On Figg podcast over Reason’s release schedule. However, one thing Reason made clear is that he’s received plenty of love from the Dreamville crew over the years. He’s a frequent contributor to the Dreamville compilation efforts and it seems that he got the opportunity to hear some new music from J Cole.
During a recent interview on New Rory & Mal, Reason reflected on Kendrick Lamar’s “Control” verse before sharing his thoughts on J Cole’s upcoming album, The Fall Off. Reason explained that Cole is on pace to surpass Kendrick Lamar once the new album drops. “I think when The Fall Off drops, only on the strength of — ’cause TDE fans are f**king crazy — not ’cause he’s better than Dot, but just because he’s been more active. I feel like when The Fall Off drops, the fruits of his labor from being so active are gonna show,” Reason explained.
Fans have frequently debated whether J Cole or Kendrick Lamar is the better rapper. Although Kendrick’s earned a list of accolades that have set him apart from his peers in hip-hop, J Cole’s undoubtedly been far more consistent in recent years. Projects like K.O.D. and The Off-Season silenced many of Cole’s critics over the years. However, Reason feels as though Kendrick and J Cole have their respective moments. “But they’ve done this for years, though. To me, they’ve kinda like — Dot is bigger at this point, Cole [is bigger at that point]. They’ve kinda done that for a long time,” he explained.
Reason is fresh off of the release of his latest album, Porches, which arrived on Aug. 11th. The body of work boasts an array of features from TDE artists including Doechii, Ray Vaughn, Sir, and Zacari. Artists like Baby Tate and London Money also appear across the tracklist. Maybe, we’ll see him on J Cole’s upcoming album, which has yet to secure a release date. We’ll keep you posted on anymore updates.
Over the weekend, J Cole attended the wedding of one of his longtime collaborators, producer T-Minus. The wedding also included appearances from various other Dreamville alums like Bas. It followed a bachelor party that the group recently took to Barcelona to celebrate. T-Minus himself shared some snaps on the trip to Instagram when it happened back in May. “Love y’all boys, Barcy was a MOVIE,” he included in the caption. Cole also made reference to the trip while promoting his new song with Bas “Passport Bros.” “Man this song gonna forever remind me of Barcelona, @tminus bachelor trip that brought me back outside.”
During the wedding plenty of videos of J. Cole emerged. Clips showed off the group celebrating and dancing to a number of songs. One video shows all the groomsmen getting down to Nicki Minaj’s classic “Moment 4 Life,” while another clip features Cole rapping along to the Central Cee and Dave song “Sprinter.” The working relationship between Cole and T-Minus goes back years. The producer had a hand in many of the biggest hits of Cole’s recent career.
J Cole Dancing At His Producers Wedding
Recently Travis Scott revealed that a previously released collaboration he had with Cole almost made it onto UTOPIA. The pair’s track “MAFIA” was one of the final cuts from the project. It was ultimately left off because Scott preferred the track “I KNOW ?” which ultimately made the cut. Cole almost joined a truly incredible collection of collaborators on the project which included Beyonce, Drake, Young Thug, SZA, Playboi Carti, Future, and many more.
J. Cole’s last studio album dropped back in 2021. The Off-Season saw him collaborating with 21 Savage, Morray, Bas, Lil Baby, and 6LACK. In the two years since Cole has continued to tease toward his next studio album The Fall Off. The project has origins dating all the way back to 2018 when it was first teased on Cole’s KOD project. What do you think of the new clips of J. Cole dancing at T-Minus’ wedding? Let us know in the comment section below.
J. Cole dropped his latest verse on Summer Walker’s Clear 2: Soft Life EP. If you haven’t heard it, go do that, as it is one of the best verses of the year.
Walker was a guest on Yung Miami’s Caresha Please, and she spoke about “Audio Hug” and how it made her feel, revealing she was pregnant and cried at the result.
“I had asked him to do a song, he really didn’t get time to do it,” Walker revealed. “He wanted to meet and I was so fucking pregnant that I was just like, ‘oh my God, I can’t.’ I don’t know if you seen them damn pictures, I was like 200 pounds. My ankles were huge. It was crazy.
“So we didn’t meet. He did end up sending me something called ‘Audio Hug.’ It’s so sweet. I cried when I heard it. He was just being hella sweet and just saying that he sees all the shit that I went through and if I ever need to call him for anything. It was just cool.”
J. Cole delivered his second feature verse in back-to-back weeks. Coming off his stellar performance on Lil Durk’s “All My Life,” J. Cole delivered Summer Walker an “audio hug” on her CLEAR 2: Soft Life EP.
The song is officially titled “To Summer, From Cole,” and through his verse, he shares his admiration for Walker and all her work as a mother, his own parenting, and more. One piece of the verse that stands out to fans is he once again mentions his The Fall Off album.
“I find it amazing, the way that you juggle your kids, the biz, the fame, the bitches that’s hatin’ They sit around waiting for you to fall off like the album I’m making”
– J. Cole
In February, J. Cole‘s manager, Ibrahim “Ib” Hamad, teased the project on Twitter.
Ib tweeted the album’s title in response to a tweet asking about which J. Cole album fans would love to hear performed front to back. The tweet prompted fans to believe the album is coming.

There really hasn’t been a shortage of music from J Cole over the past few years. The Dreamville co-founder unveiled a series of solid projects since K.O.D including efforts alongside his labelmates and a string of stand-out features. However, following the release of The Off-Season, he announced two other projects: It’s A Boy and The Fall Off. So far, he hasn’t shared a release date or a timeline of when to expect it but it looks like it’ll be arriving soon.
Summer Walker’s new project, Clear 2: Soft Life EP, arrived in its entirety this morning, which includes a surprise feature from J Cole. The North Carolina rapper opens up the project on “To Summer, From Cole (Audio Hug).” In the song, Cole provides fans with a promising update on the status of his next project. The rapper confirmed that he’s currently in the studio cheffing the project up, rapping, “I find it amazing the way that you juggle your kids, the biz, the fame/ The bitches that’s hatin’, they sit around waitin’ for you to fall off, like the album I’m makin’.”
J Cole’s “The Fall Off” Is On The Way
Prior to Summer Walker’s EP, the “GOMD” rapper addressed the project, which he’s hinted as his last, on Dreamville’s Creed III soundtrack. Cole delivered a verse for “Adonis Interlude (The Montage)” where he discussed the anticipated project. “Just cop ‘The Fall Off’ and he’ll explain/ Is it the end of the chapter? Happily ever after?/ Bet this gon’ be the year that fulfill his reign, man,” the rapper said. Hopefully, with the recent updates, and collaborations alongside Lil Durk and Summer Walker, who both performed at Dreamville Festival, The Fall Off will arrive soon.
Cole has been scattering hints of the project’s release across the majority of his features. Earlier this year, J. Cole joined forces with J-Hope of BTS fame for their collaboration, “On The Streets.” Once again, he teased the possibility of retirement. “Some days, I wonder if I need to pick a different hobby/ I’m deep in with this rappin’, it’s all a n***a know/ I never didn’t nothin’ better, it’s hard to let it go/ But like a father watching his daughter walk down the altar with tears in his eyes/ You gotta let her grow,” he said.
J Cole laid out a plan for a handful of albums in 2020. His post-K.O.D.plans included the release of The Off-Season, which arrived in 2021, as well as The Fall Off and It’s A Boy. All three projects were described as part of “The Fall Off Era.” “I still got some goals I gotta check off for’ I scram…,” he captioned the post. Though we got one out of the three projects, fans have evidently waited for even more music from the Fayetteville native.
J Cole hasn’t left fans empty-handed, though. Last year, he joined the Dreamville roster for D-Day: A Gangsta Grillz Mixtape, which boasted records like “Stick” and “Freedom Of Speech.” Additionally, he delivered a few stand-out guest features on songs like “Johnny P’s Caddy” by Benny The Butcher and Bia’s “London.” In the midst of these releases, he’s also embarked on a career in professional basketball, which, for the most part, has been short-lived. However, he seems to be cooking up these days and a new project could be arriving soon.
J. Cole’s manager and Dreamville co-founder, Ibrahim Hamad, shared a brief but promising update on Instagram last night. Team Dreamville shared a tweet where they asked fans which J Cole album they’d want to hear live in its entirety. As fans shared their preferences, Ib quoted the tweet and simply wrote, “The Fall Off.” Ib didn’t elaborate any further but it seems like he’s fueling anticipation for J. Cole’s next studio album. Hopefully, a release date will come shortly after.
In the past month, Cole’s blessed fans with a few gems to hold them over. Last month, he released “Procrastination (Broke)” through a producer Bvtman’s YouTube channel that he discovered while searching “J. Cole Beats.” Shortly after, he co-produced Cordae and Anderson .Paak’s “Two Tenz,” alongside Dem Joints. However, it’s possible we get more new music from J. Cole soon as Dreamville announced that they are executive producing the Creed III soundtrack, which drops on March 3rd, along with the film. Cole hasn’t confirmed any contributions to the soundtrack but it seems likely given Dreamville’s role on the project.
