Move over Mission Impossible. If anyone needed even more confirmation that pop stars saved movie theaters in 2023, AMC Theaters revealed just how thankful they were for Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour and Beyoncé’s Renaissance Tour being released as films through unique deals with their chain.
“What is particularly noteworthy is how much AMC benefited from our trailblazing industry leading efforts with our highly successful distribution of two concert movies Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour and Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé,” AMC’s CEO Adam Aron shared with Deadline. He also noted, “Literally, all of that increase in AMC’s Revenue and EBITDA is attributable to our having shown these two movies in our theatres in the U.S. and internationally.”
By their two movies alone, their fourth-quarter earnings rose by 11%, providing the theater company with $1.1 billion in revenue. This was way higher than what Wall Street had apparently initially projected for AMC.
“This is a stunning result given that neither of these films were on anyone’s drawing board until mid-year, and that they were the first movies ever distributed by AMC in our entire 103-year history,” Aron said.
“To that end, our praise for Taylor Swift and Beyoncé Knowles Carter has no limit, and we offer our boundless thanks to these two world class artists for entrusting AMC to collaborate with them as to the theatrical exhibition of their two masterpiece creations,” he added.

SZA has amassed billions of streams on Spotify, headlined countless worldwide performances, and recently took home a number of Grammy Awards for her chart-topping 2023 album SOS. The acclaimed singer songwriter is currently at the top of her game, making this the perfect time for her to headline a Super Bowl halftime show. With Kendrick Lamar having left TDE, SZA is arguably the most prominent artist on the label, and will certainly remain the case as her deluxe version of SOS, titled Lana, is expected to drop some time this year.
The release of Lana will no doubt reinvigorate the popularity of already-massive radio hits such as “Kill Bill,” “Snooze,” and “I Hate U” as well as deliver on a number of new ear-worms for audiences to put on repeat. SZA’s massive following of fans and supporters would no doubt turn out in droves to see her take the stage.
Despite her massive star power, Adele has never performed at a Super Bowl halftime show. Of course, that’s not due to the NFL’s lack of trying, as the singer was approached to headline Super Bowl LI back in 2016, and ultimately declined. Apparently, the “Rolling In The Deep” singer felt that the halftime show is more inclined for a high-energy artist who can dance and is largely “not about music.” Certainly, Adele’s voice, lauded as one of the best, may not necessitate a series of high-intensity movements for the ideal halftime performance.
If she were to take the stage, set designers could likely organize a visually stunning show with background dancers, pyrotechnics, and moving parts, which don’t require Adele to take her attention away from the microphone. Regardless, her millions of fans worldwide would surely support her decision.
5. André 3000
Like Adele, André 3000 once turned down the Super Bowl halftime performance offer as one half of the duo OutKast, due to strict rules the NFL wanted to impose on the performance. Now, nearly 20 years after the iconic duo has split up, André 3000 could serve as a perfect solo halftime headliner. Big Boi took the stage in 2019 in a dual performance with Travis Scott and Maroon 5, making André the only remaining member not to appear at the event.
Three stacks dropped an album of resonant flute instrumentals last year that influenced hip hop heads from across the globe to experiment with their music taste, taking in jazz, lo-fi, and sultry funk tones. With the rapper turned flutist officially coming out of retirement, it would certainly bridge genre and generational gaps to see tracks like “That Night In Hawaii When I Turned Into A Panther And Started Making These Low Register Purring Tones That I Couldn’t Control … Sh¥t Was Wild” on the Super Bowl stage.
Billie Eilish is an acclaimed young artist with a ravenous fanbase of loyal supporters, who could easily take on a Super Bowl halftime performance in the coming years. The star, who launched her career when she was just 14-years-old, has successfully blended genres to make hit songs which resonate with a wide array of audiences. While the singer songwriter is now 22, her musical goals seem as lofty as ever.
Currently, Bruno Mars holds the title for youngest halftime headliner, for performing at the NFL-hosted event at the age of 28 back in 2010. If any artist is poised to carry that torch, it’s Billie Eilish.
3. Lil Wayne
Super Bowl LVI earned its place in history as the game with the first true hip-hop halftime show, featuring iconic artists such as Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, and more on the SoFi Stadium stage in sunny Los Angeles. Of course, many hip hop fans felt that one highly acclaimed rap artist was missing from the roster, in the form of Lil Wayne.
Wayne’s decades-long career boasts enough hit records to headline 5 Super Bowl halftime shows, and his enthusiasm shows as he expresses excitement at the thought of being invited. Super Bowl LIX, slated to bring the big game to Wayne’s hometown of New Orleans next year, could provide the perfect opportunity to bring the “6 Foot 7 Foot” rapper on board to headline. Additionally, a Lil Wayne headliner could mean guest appearances from some of his frequent former-Young Money collaborators like Nicki Minaj, Tyga, and Drake, in a giant display which would almost surely break the internet.
Taylor Swift has shown this past football season how much her star power can influence the NFL, just from her showing up in the stands. The pop singer’s relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has been the source of endless media coverage, uniting NFL football fans and Swifties in a harmonious combination of entertainment and sport. Swift taking the stage as a headliner for the Super Bowl halftime show seems like a no-brainer at this point, considering she is arguably the biggest star in the entire world right now.
Of course, we’ll have to see where her relationship with Kelce goes, as well as how the upcoming season of football plays out, with the Chiefs seemingly carving out an unbeatable dynasty in the vein of Tom Brady’s illustrious run with the New England Patriots. Another Travis Kelce Super Bowl win, with his superstar girlfriend headlining the halftime show, would easily be the biggest moment in NFL history.
Jay-Z has partnered with the NFL through his Roc Nation multimedia company to curate halftime performances since 2020, after the 2019 show was criticized for being out-of-touch with fans. As the NFL’s Live Music Entertainment Strategist, Jay-Z has humbly chosen not to take the stage himself, as he felt it would be too self-aggrandizing in his first few years with the role. However, Jay’s millions of fans worldwide would surely go head-over-heels for a Super Bowl halftime performance of “Empire State of Mind” or “N****s In Paris.”
Jay-Z responded to questions about headlining a Super Bowl halftime show with a nebulous “maybe one year,” indicating a potential willingness to come out of retirement and rock the NFL stage. It should go without saying that Jay-Z’s catalogue could allow dozens of high-profile guest artists to join in as well, including Kanye West, Eminem, Nas, The Lox, and especially his super mega-star wife, Beyoncé.
Pop culture’s hottest power couple of the moment, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, both came up big at this weekend’s People’s Choice Awards.
The ceremony went down yesterday (February 18) and Swift ended up coming away with four awards: Female Artist Of The Year, Pop Artist Of The Year, Concert Tour Of The Year for The Eras Tour, and Social Celebrity Of The Year. Kelce, meanwhile, won his sole nomination for Athlete Of The Year.
Elsewhere, other highlights included Jung Kook picking up Male Artist Of The Year; Bad Bunny and Shakira winning Male and Female Latin Artist Of The Year, respectively; Nicki Minaj getting Hip-Hop Artist Of The Year; Beyoncé being named R&B Artist Of The Year; and Ice Spice being crowned New Artist Of The Year.

Megan Fox is someone who was seen as a sex symbol back in the late 2000s and early 2010s. Even today, many still have a crush on the actress. However, those hopes and dreams have been dashed as she is currently with Machine Gun Kelly. Overall, the two have gone through ups and downs but remain an item. Recently, they went viral thanks to a photo with Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift. In this photo, Fox looks unrecognizable. Some said she got a lot of plastic surgery, which led to the appearance.
Fox, however, disagrees with that assessment. In a new Instagram post, she said that she looks great. She even likened herself to a sex doll from Japan. “Oh my god guys look how different i…dont look at all,” Fox said. “Turns out it was just a shadowy cell phone pic of me looking like a ukrainian blowup doll. when in REALITY i look like one of those super expensive silicone real sex dolls you can only get in japan.” Unfortunately for Fox, this did not resonate well with her fans.
This is because of the mention of Ukrainian blow-up dolls. Many people of Ukrainian descent went into the comments section to explain why this perception was so harmful. “It’s very rude of you to speak like that about Ukrainian women, that’s how you showed yourself,” one person wrote. “I guess xenophobia towards Eastern European is still a thing in Hollywood,” said another. Others sought to mock Fox with one commenter writing, “Girl you had one opportunity to write a good post about this iconic pic and you write THIS?”

On Instagram last night (February 14), West shared a screenshot of a tweet from a Swiftie, which encouraged other fans to stream and buy Beyoncé’s new single “Texas Hold ‘Em,” in an effort to prevent one of West and Ty Dolla Sign’s new Vultures I songs from debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
West started the post’s lengthy, all-caps caption, “When I said that I’m the new Jesus b*tch I wasn’t even thinking about Taylor Swift. That was a whole line before but I appreciate the free promo. Lil Wayne actually mentions Travis Kelsey on Vultures 2. This album is actually super positive and fun it’s all about triumphant.”
He later relayed his thoughts on the impact he’s had on Swift and shared a message for Swifties:
“Remember I was on Taylor’s side when Scooter bought her masters behind her back. She and Beyoncé are big inspirations to all musicians we always say how both sell out tours and movies. also, I’m sure I’ve been far more helpful to Taylor Swift’s career than harmful. To all Taylor Swift fans I am not your enemy uuum Im not your friend either though lol. Also i didn’t get kicked out of the Super Bowl we left our seats to go to YG’s box and see different friends. my wife had never been to a Super Bowl so I wanted to walk around and have a nice time we had such a fun day.”

Kanye West had a lot of people stressed out as it pertains to the rollout for The Life Of Pablo. Overall, this was an album that went through a lot of changes. Even after its release, the project was continuously being tinkered with. From fixing mixes to adding features, TLOP acted as some sort of free-flowing art project. Although the reviews for the album were mixed at first, it seems like the album has aged extremely well. Sure, there are some questionable bars on it, but some of the production here can be classified as Ye’s best.
During this era, Ye didn’t really care whom he offended. You can say the same of his current mentality. However, this was really true with The Life Of Pablo. Yesterday, the album turned eight years old, and with Taylor Swift-Kanye conspiracies running rampant, we figured it would be appropriate to revisit “Famous.” Fans know this as the song where Ye theorized about having sex with Taylor. This led to a huge firestorm that even involved a leaked phone call with Kim Kardashian. Whatever the case, this song remains memorable for both the lyrics, and the incredible Rihanna feature.
Like many of the tracks on The Life Of Pablo, this song is anthemic. It has phenomenal production while Ye sounds as confident as ever. On an album like Vultures, his lyrics have gone completely downhill. However, The Life Of Pablo and “Famous” in particular will have you yearning for a time when Ye still cared about having a personality. No matter what, you can’t help but feel like TLOP is a moment in time we will unfortunately never get back.

When a microphone gets in front of Killer Mike, the result is either going to be really great (his Grammy Award-winning album >Michael) or make anyone listening want to groan aloud in horror. His latest stint on The Daily Show falls into the latter category — at least, it does for me — and I think we should maybe consider restricting his engagement with live mics to him rapping on them and nothing else.
While Mike reflected on his Grammy wins, host Jordan Klepper asked him a jokey question about another award show fixture, Taylor Swift, wondering if Swift “snubbed Celine [Dion].” The minor controversy found fans nitpicking Swift for not properly acknowledging the Canadian diva, who presented her the award for Album Of The Year (despite her Stiff Person Syndrome diagnosis). Unfortunately, Mike took it left almost immediately, praising her for winning the award, then jokingly propositioning the “Anti-Hero” singer.
“She won at the Grammys,” he noted. “Her boyfriend won the Chiefs. If she’s into poly, me and my wife need a third. We’re trying to win again.”
Yikes, Mike.
Klepper did his best to mitigate the off-color joke, asking, “You feel like you could pull off polygamy right now?” prompting Mike to reel it in a bit. “I feel I could pull it off,” he said. “Only problem is my wife’s good with a gun. She doesn’t agree. But I’ll keep trying for all the men out there.”

West seemed pretty happy about that. On Instagram last night (February 11), West took to his Story to share a tweet making note of the achievement, offering no additional context or opinions beyond the unadorned screenshot.
West’s Spotify win, though, didn’t last long: On the charts dated February 12 and 13, Swift had returned to No. 1. So, by the time West shared the news, it was outdated. Worth noting is that this all happened right after West dropped an anticipated new album, while Swift is currently getting by on months-old material.
This follows a report that Swift got West kicked out of Super Bowl LVIII this past weekend. As HipHopDX notes, former NFL player Brandon Marshall claimed that West had purchased tickets that would have placed him right in front of Swift. Marshall then claimed, “Taylor Swift gets pissed off, she boom boom makes a call or two. Everybody’s involved. He gets kicked out the stadium! He was trying to leverage her celebrity. […] That’s what he tried to do: he tried to sit in front of Taylor Swift.”
The publication notes, though, that despite what Marshall said, West was seen in the stadium multiple times, like when he was spotted in a luxury suite with Ty Dolla Sign and Anderson. Paak.

Beyoncé and Taylor Swift have long shown admiration for each other’s craft. After the infamous MTV Video Music Awards incident of 2009, Bey invited Swift to deliver her speech after being interrupted. Bey was also seen at Swift’s birthday party in 2014. Last year, the two made appearances at the premieres of each other’s respective concert films. While they’ve maintained a friendship for nearly 15 years, the two have never collaborated musically. However, the Swifties and the Beyhive may soon be in for a treat.
This past weekend, Bey broke the internet by giving fans the first taste of her upcoming album, Act II, which, as evidenced by the two singles “Texas Hold ‘Em” and “16 Carriages,” sounds like it’ll be a country album. Today (February 13), producer Killah B, who co-wrote and produced “Texas Hold ‘Em,” spoke with TMZ to tease the album. When asked if Act II would have any collaborations — perhaps with an artist who has roots in country, but made a pivot to pop — Killah responded, saying. “Let’s just say she’s on the approach of shocking the world.”
Though the TMZ reporters didn’t refer to Swift directly by name, the description one of them offered does sound a lot like Swift’s career trajectory. As Beyoncé is known to move in secret, fans probably won’t find out if a collaboration between the two hitmakers came to fruition until the day of the album release.
Super Bowl weekend often sees many of the biggest celebrities from music, sports, and entertainment all coming together in one place.
