Stephen A Smith Wants More Money Than Dak Prescott With His Next ESPN Contract

Stephen A Smith says that he deserves to be paid over $100 million by ESPN for his next contract and cited Dak Prescott’s deal with the Dallas Cowboys as evidence of his market value. While speaking with Chris Wallace for the latest episode of his Max series, Smith discussed his future with the company as he’s on the last year of his current deal.

“I’m not getting specific as it pertains to numbers, because only a fool discusses his own negotiations while negotiating,” Smith began. “So I’m not going to go that far. What I would say to you is, I would ask, respectfully, pay attention to the industry. See what people are getting paid. See how much money they’re making and what they’re bringing to the table. Look at look at their ratings, look at their revenue that they’re generating, and look at mine. And so we all want what the market bears. Dak Prescott just signed a contract for $240 million he’s making 60 million a year.”

When Wallace noted that Prescott is the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys, Smith retorted: “Who has won two playoff games in eight years, I’ve been number one for 12. I’m sorry, in our respective industries, I win and I’m fully aware of what I’m worth, and I will never apologize to that for anybody.” Prescott inked his massive four-year, $240 million extension back in September, just before the regular season started. The deal made him the highest-paid player in the league on a per-year basis.

Stephen A Smith Explains Why People Are Wrong About Shannon Sharpe IG Sex Scandal

Stephen A Smith became the latest sports commentator and celebrity to give his two cents on the Shannon Sharpe Instagram Live scandal. “Shannon Sharpe was having sex,” he remarked on his show. “That’s what he was doing, okay? He was getting it in. It’s just that it wasn’t for everybody to know. And evidently, you know, he was on Instagram Live and didn’t know. As a result, although no video was seen – thank the Good Lord – we heard quite a bit. We heard quite a bit. Initially, he thought his stuff was hacked and then, obviously, he came out and told what transpired. And that was that.

“From that point forward, you’ve had people speculating as to whether or not was he gon’ get fired, was he going to get suspended, et cetera, et cetera,” Stephen A Smith continued. “Again, he works on First Take. I’m the executive producer for First Take. So if something was gon’ happen to him with regards to ESPN, I’d be one of the first to know. Let me be the first to say that Shannon Sharpe committed no crime. It wasn’t some sex tape that he meant for everybody to hear. That’s not how he rose. I [got] to know him personally. That’s not who he is, that’s not how he rose, okay? So let me get that out of the way first.

“And if something had happened where he was going to be in a world of trouble, I would’ve fought like hell to make sure nothing came of it,” Stephen A. Smith went on. “Because, again, there’s no video and he was living his private life and it was a mistake. And if you know anything about Shannon, trust me and believe it was a mistake. Because not only is he incredibly private, he’s incredibly clueless when it comes to using social media. He has a team that does that for him.

“I want to get to a bigger portion of this story that I wanted to say,” Stephen A. Smith concluded. “The nerve of people out there that were trying to act like he did something wrong. Two consenting adults were getting it in yesterday morning. What’s the problem? What’s the problem? I couldn’t believe why people were trying to act like, ‘Yo, he did something wrong.’ They’re trying to say, ‘Sex tape, sex tape.’ Nah, no, you didn’t see it. If you didn’t see it, you didn’t see it.”

Nicki Minaj Drags Stephen A Smith For Defending Jay-Z Amid Super Bowl Controversy

Over the weekend, Kendrick Lamar announced that he’ll be headlining the Super Bowl Halftime Show in New Orleans in February. While many fans were happy to hear the news, particularly after the massive year he’s had, others were outraged. Immediately, social media users began to sound off about what some believed to be a slight against Lil Wayne, who’s from New Orleans. This included Nicki Minaj, who took to X earlier this week to go off on Jay-Z and Roc Nation for the decision.

“Denying a young black man what he rightfully put into this game for no other reason but your ego,” she wrote in part. “Your hatred for BIRDMAN, Drake & Nicki got you punishing Lil Wayne?!?!!!” Her rant didn’t sit well with Stephen A Smith, who responded on his show.

Nicki Minaj Goes Off On Stephen A Smith

He called Nicki out for having beef with so many people, claiming that she didn’t have to drag Jay-Z simply because she didn’t agree with the choice. “Every time we turn around it’s something, Nicki,” he said. “You disagree with the decision… but you have to talk to a brother like that?” Now, she’s taken to X to respond and didn’t hold back in the slightest. She even jokingly confused Smith with Shannon Sharpe, who went viral yesterday for accidentally going live on Instagram during sex.

“Oh look yall another paid laughy taffy alien who only comes off his knees to turn around & back dat azz up. LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Stephen, we don’t care. Ima tell u right now. We don’t care. If I say more it’ll be your fault. Sit down ugly,” she wrote. “Stephen wasn’t you just moanin & groanin on live in your bedroom ? LMFAOOOO. And since we here in women’s business…ladies; when should men just shave their full head? Should it take its normal course like SAS Sassy ass or should he look into lace fronts?” What do you think of Nicki Minaj going off on Stephen A Smith on X? Stephen A Smith Lays Into Nicki Minaj Over Super Bowl Twitter Rant

Stephen A Smith and Nicki Minaj are world class trash talkers. They have build their personas on being combative, and speaking their mind when nobody else will. Or, sometimes, when nobody else asked. Such was the cast on September 9, when Nicki Minaj unleashed on JAY-Z and Roc Nation for what she felt was a slight against her Young Money mentor, Lil Wayne. Minaj felt like Weezy should have headlined the upcoming Halftime Show at the Super Bowl, but Roc Nation went with Kendrick Lamar. Stephen A Smith did not appreciate Minaj’s public tantrum.

Smith addressed Nicki Minaj directly during the September 11 episode of his podcast. He started out cordially, as one has come to expect from an SAS rant. He assured Minaj and the viewers that he had respect for her, and the things she’s managed to achieve. The analyst didn’t, however, respect Minaj’s decision to castigate JAY-Z. “Every time we turn around it’s something, Nicki,” he stated. “You disagree with the decision… but you have to talk to a brother like that?” Stephen A Smith is referring to the Nicki Minaj tweet in which she claimed that JAY-Z favors money over the culture that helped make him rich.

Stephen A Smith Felt Minaj’s Comments Were Selfish

Stephen A Smith also took time out from bashing Minaj to give JAY-Z his flowers. He pointed out that Hov has been instrumental in getting more R&B and hip hop artists on the Halftime Show stage since Roc Nation got involved with the NFL in 2019. “Do you know how hard it is,” Smith asked. “For a Black man to pull of what JAY-Z has pulled off?” He supported his case by mentioning the kinds of acts who played the Super Bowl prior to Roc Nation. The Who and Coldplay have probably never been said with more disdain.

Smith got a bit off topic, but he brought it back to his main point. He believes that Nicki Minaj is being unappreciative for what JAY-Z has accomplished for the culture as a whole. He also feels like Minaj is simply using the controversy as a means of drumming up free publicity for herself. In case the point wasn’t clear, Stephen A Smith ran down a list of the celebrities that Minaj has had beef with over the years. “It ain’t about you as an individual, it’s about us,” he asserted. “All of us, as Black people.”

Stephen A Smith Calls Out Kamala Harris

Stephen A Smith is someone who has been very clear about his political views. Overall, he has some liberal takes, and some conservative ones. He fancies himself as a centrist independent who has voted for Democrats and has also voted for Republicans. However, when it comes to the most recent election, it remains to be seen where he will lean. Although he hates Donald Trump, he does have some criticisms of Kamala Harris.

On his show, Stephen A spoke about how Harris is only doing rallies and has yet to do an interview. He believes she is hiding and that she needs to tell the American People what her platform is. “We’ve had one week, two weeks, three weeks and one day since Joe Biden stepped aside,” Smith began. “The only damn place we’ve seen Kamala Harris is at pep rallies. What’s up? Somebody gotta say something and it can’t just be the conservatives. Right is right.”

What you hiding for? And I mean hiding in plain sight. Somebody gotta say it. Somebody gotta say it,” he continued. “Now, you can’t be running for the presidency of the United States. Stephen A Smith Reacts To Joe Biden Dropping Out Of The Presidential Race

Stephen A Smith has been quite vocal about politics as of late. Although he has a strong distaste for Donald Trump, he has also had his own issues with President Joe Biden. Overall, he has felt as though Biden is not of a strong or sound mind and therefore, should not be running. This analysis was especially common after Biden’s horrific debate performance against Trump about a month ago. On Sunday, Joe Biden announced that he would be stopping his Presidential campaign. Moreover, he even endorsed Kamala Harris to take his place.

Following this news, Stephen A Smith was spotted out and about at a park by reporter Joshua Needelman. Smith was subsequently asked to give his thoughts on all of this. “It was long overdue. … On the Democratic side, it’s time for everyone to get behind Kamala Harris,” Smith stated. Needless to say, his thoughts on the topic are pretty clear. Having said that, Kamala Harris may have some issues getting all of the support necessary. As you can imagine, some Democrats see the nomination as for the taking, especially with the polls not being extremely favorable towards Harris.

Stephen A Smith Gives His Take

No matter what, this is going to be a divisive issue. Harris was part of the Biden administration and will have to defend some of the administration’s decisions if she is the nominee. Stephen A Smith Delivers Surprising Reaction To Amber Rose’s RNC Speech

Stephen A Smith has been known for years when it comes to dishing out hot takes on the biggest topics in sports. However, he is also someone who speaks quite frequently as it pertains to the political sphere. Overall, he has had some right-wing opinions as of late. Although he remains a staunch critic of former President Donald Trump. With Joe Biden showing signs of decline, Stephen A has been quite critical of the current President. That said, no one knows which way Smith will be voting come November.

During the most recent episode of his show, Smith weighed in on Amber Rose speaking at the Republican National Convention. Both Republicans and Democrats were critical of Amber Rose’s appearance. Some felt like it made no sense to have her there considering Trump is using her as a bridge to the black community, and Rose herself has proclaimed to not be black. Furthermore, she used to be firmly against Donald Trump but out of nowhere, has changed her opinions.

Stephen A. Smith Reacts To Skip Bayless Leaving FS1

Stephen A. Smith spoke about Skip Bayless’s FS1 departure on the latest episode of The Stephen A. Smith Show. He addressed a few things, including the current state of their relationship and the impact that Bayless had on Smith’s own career.

Stephen A. and Skip have not spoken in “a while,” per Smith’s podcast comments. “He’s on that side, and I’m on this side,” he said. However, he does not believe that Bayless will retire, nor does he believe that Undisputed was unsuccessful for Bayless because of how it ended. “He ain’t some 30-year-old that flopped after one year. He’s been doing it for over 40. And he’s transitioned and transcended throughout the years.” Smith was also grateful to Bayless for helping push his media career into what it’s become.

Stephen A. Smith Reacts To Skip Bayless Leaving FS1

Of course, fans fondly remember the Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless era of First Take, which started in 2012 amidst sagging ratings for the program. Smith replaced Jay Crawford, who transitioned to host SportsCenter. The program solidified the television career of Stephen A. Smith, who did not have a consistent role with ESPN until Bayless asked Smith to sign on. Their debates became famous among sports fans, as Bayless finally found a dance partner who could match his energy. When Bayless left ESPN in 2016, Smith developed into the face of First Take, and by proxy, ESPN.

Stephen A. and former Skip Bayless co-host Shannon Sharpe work together on First Take now. Front Office Sports reported on Tuesday afternoon that ESPN had no interest in bringing Bayless back to the network. Sharpe and Bayless’s relationship ended acrimoniously, after a series of increasingly disrespectful comments that culminated with Bayless downplaying Sharpe’s own Hall of Fame football career to prop up Tom Brady’s. Smith said he did not want to speak for Sharpe, but added that Sharpe told him that he “refused to let six years be ruined by six months.” Smith and Sharpe do not appear to have any ill will towards Bayless. Bayless’s FS1 exit will be an interesting one, as he is 73 years old and not the personality he once was. Stephen A. Smith wishes him well.

Skip Bayless Receives Sobering Update From ESPN

Skip Bayless will reportedly not be getting invited back into the ESPN fold this summer, according to Front Office Sports. Bayless departs FS1 later this summer, with the date of his final Undisputed show not set yet. Co-host Shannon Sharpe left after the 2023 NBA Finals. Sharpe went to ESPN, where he quickly found success as Stephen A. Smith’s debate partner during the NFL season. His departure from FS1 also allowed him to build his media profile outside of TV appearances, with his Club Shay Shay podcast becoming one of the biggest weekly podcasts on YouTube. Bayless can now follow a similar exit plan.

From the moment FS1 announced that Skip Bayless was leaving their network, he was linked to an ESPN reunion. He left the network in 2016 after nearly three decades. He helped pioneer the sports debate show as a panelist on the Dick Schaap-hosted show The Sports Reporters in 1989, and again with Cold Pizza and First Take in the 2000s. The latter launched the television career of Stephen A. Smith, who’s since developed into the face of ESPN and recently asked for a contract extension that makes him one of the highest-paid personalities in all of journalism.

Skip Bayless Is Not Reuniting With ESPN

Skip Bayless’s departure from FS1 comes after years of declining ratings for Undisputed. The ratings only got worse when Shannon Sharpe exited the network last year. FS1 attempted to change the format of the show by bringing in a rotating cast of characters, but the ratings still sagged. Fans have long called Bayless’s gimmick outdated. He built part of his career around criticism of players. His most infamous target is LeBron James, who has never publicly responded to any of Bayless’s critiques. That type of hot take content makes for good social media posts. However, it is not what all fans want to see, which is why LeBron James and JJ Redick’s own Mind The Game podcast performed so well in its brief run.

Skip Bayless is also reportedly not on the best of terms with both Stephen A. Smith and Shannon Sharpe. Though he did his part in helping to grow their media careers, they have both surpassed him, and now they work together on ESPN’s flagship show. Adding a third man who both stars of the most popular show on the network have personal issues with is a risk that most networks would be unwilling to take, and ESPN appears to be uninterested in rocking the boat.
