The Texas Governor Greg Abbott is still making headlines.
A second busload of migrants sent from Texas arrived outside the home of Vice President Kamala Harris over the weekend. The latest bus is part of Governor Greg Abbott’s ongoing policy of sending migrants from Texas to underscore the Biden administration’s open-border policies.
Harris recently appeared on NBC’s “Meet the Press” and claimed the border is secure, leading Abbott to target her residence. The governors claim their states are overwhelmed and President Biden is ignoring the crisis.
The bus arrived before dawn on Saturday at the Naval Observatory in Washington, D.C. Currently, two busloads of illegal immigrants from Texas have reportedly been dropped off near the home of Vice President Kamala Harris.
After 50 Venezuelan migrants were also flown to Martha’s Vineyard last week without notice. Florida Republican Governor Ron Desantis, admits he chartered two private planes to take the migrants to Martha’s Vineyard.
Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre accused Abbott and DeSantis of using human beings as political pawns for photo-ops. She called the moves dangerous political stunts. Jean-Pierre added — “Stunts aren’t solutions.” She said Republicans should work with Democrats on comprehensive immigration reforms.
Civil rights attorneys are calling for state and federal investigations after the Republican Governor’s reckless tactics last week. The group Lawyers for Civil Rights has expressed concern that the migrants were persuaded to board airplanes and cross state lines under false pretenses.

Anitta’s August comes to a close with a historic victory for the Brazilian worldwide pop sensation, who won last night’s MTV Video Music Awards “Best Latin” category and the moon person. As the “first Brazilian to win for a solo project in the history of the VMAs,” Anitta continues to make history with this achievement.
Anitta, who made her VMA broadcast performance debut with “Envolver,” the song that earned her a historic nomination, delivered an exhilarating performance after the victory.
Following the release of the Deluxe Edition of her critically acclaimed album Versions of Me by Warner Records, she earned this ground-breaking victory and gave a jaw-dropping performance. The album includes five new tracks in addition to the 15 original songs from the Versions of Me album, which was released earlier this year. A stellar cast of collaborators on the album includes Missy Elliott, Maluma, A$AP Ferg, Nicky Jam, HARV, L7NNON, Maffio, MC Pedrinho, Pedro Sampaio, and Dadju.
Bad Bunny is HIM. The Un Vernao Sin Ti rapper and megastar hosted the New York stop of his tour at an insanely packed Yankee Stadium. Pulling double duty, Bad Bunny let MTV join his world, bringing the visuals of his stunning live set to the VMAs.
The remote performance was of “TITÍ ME PREGUNTO,” showcasing how much a global icon Bad Bunny is.
In addition to the stunning performance, Bad Bunny won Artist of the Year, becoming the first Latin Artist in history to win the award.
Bad Bunny‘s Un Verano Sin Ti album has made a run of 15 weeks at the top of the Billboard 200 this year. He could extend that run this week, competing against DJ Khaled’s GOD DID, which is set for a 115,000 first week performance.
Latin superstar Bad Bunny will make his VMA’s return in epic fashion, with an exclusive “made for VMAs” performance with never-before-seen choreography, as MTV goes live from Yankee Stadium as part of “Bad Bunny: World’s Hottest Tour.”
This marks the first VMA’s appearance from Bad Bunny since 2019, where he made a memorable debut performance of “Que Pretendes” with J Balvin. He scored his first Moon Person in 2018 for “Song of the Summer.”
The 9x nominee is up for two major categories this year (“Artist of the Year” and “Best Latin”) and two social categories (“Album of the Year” and “Song of the Summer”); a win for “Artist of the Year” would be history-making and crown him the first-ever non-English language artist to take home a Moon Person in the category.
Currently, the “Un Verano Sin Ti” artist just kicked off his first stadium tour across the U.S. and Latin America, setting the record for the highest-grossing concert in each of the venues he has performed so far and the highest-grossing concert by a Latin act.
This also marks MTV’s first-ever live remote VMA’s performance to air from Yankee Stadium. The 2022 MTV VMA’s will air Sunday, August 28th at 8PM ET/PT.

Kali Uchis, a Grammy-winning Colombian-American musician, is a Billboard Latin Music Awards finalist once again. Uchis is a finalist in three categories: Latin Pop Artist of the Year (Solo), Female Artist of the Year for Hot Latin Songs, and Artist of the Year for Top Latin Albums (Female). Last year, her critically praised Spanish album Sin Miedo, garnered seven nominations and won Latin Pop Album of the Year in the previous year.
The Watsco Center in Miami will host the 2022 Billboard Latin Music Awards, the longest-running ceremony for Latin music. The one-hour red carpet special “La Alfombra de los Premios Billboard” will take place before the three-hour live awards presentation, which will feature performances by prominent Latin music artists.
Uchis received Favorite Latin Song at the 2021 American Music Awards for “telepata” and was nominated for six Latin American Music Awards earlier this year. Additionally, she received a nomination for Best Msica Urbana Album at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards for her Spanish-language album Sin Miedo (del Amor y Otros Demonios).
Lizzo and Jack Harlow are the latest round of global superstar performers that will take the stage at MTV’s 2022 VMAs. The show will air live from Prudential Center on Sunday, August 28, at 8 pm ET/PT.
Global superstar Jack Harlow returns to the MTV stage for his first solo performance after last year’s epic “VMAs” debut collaboration of the mega-hit “INDUSTRY BABY” with Lil Nas X. Harlow hopes to win his first Moon Person after receiving a tie for the most nominations (7) this year, including two of the night’s top prizes, “Video of the Year” and “Artist of the Year.” The 10x nominee received nominations for “PUSH New Artist” and “Song of the Summer” in 2020 and 2021, respectively.
Lizzo, multi-hyphenate diva, is scheduled for another huge MTV moment with a performance of “2 Be Loved” from her critically praised new album Special, following a show-stopping debut with a massive mashup of “Good As Hell” and “Truth Hurts” in 2019. In addition to being a nominee for 11x, the artist and song of the year categories are up for grabs this year.
Those two stars join J Balvin, who is ready to take the 2022 MTV VMA stage. MTV announced the Colombian superstar will make a return to the stage with the TV/world premiere of “Nivel de Perreo,” with Ryan Castro.
The first time Balvin touched the stage was for the 2019 performance of “Que Pretenders” with Bad Bunny in 2019.
The five-time winner and 13-time nominee for “Best Latin” (for “In Da Getto” with Skrillex) is also vying for his sixth Moon Person, which would make him the most decorated Latin artist in “VMAs” history.
Additional performers include Anitta, Marshmello x Khalid and Panic! At The Disco, BLACKPINK, and Maneskin.
This year’s nominations are led by Jack Harlow, Kendrick Lamar, and Lil Nas X with seven each, followed closely by Doja Cat and Harry Styles with six apiece, and Billie Eilish, Drake, Dua Lipa, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, and The Weeknd (5 each).
The 2022 “VMAs” will celebrate the biggest names in music on August 28th, 8PM ET/PT, LIVE from New Jersey’s iconic Prudential Center and air across MTV’s worldwide footprint of linear and digital platforms in 170+ countries, reaching 422 million households in nearly 30 different languages.
Through Friday, August 19, 2022, fans can cast their votes online at vote.mtv.com for their favorites in 22 gender-neutral categories, including “Video of the Year,” “Artist of the Year,” “Best Collaboration,” and two brand-new ones, “Best Longform Video” and “Best Metaverse Performance.”
