G-Eazy Is Back On His BS In “At Will” With EST Gee

It’s a union of G and Gee on “At Will,” the brand new collaboration between G-Eazy and the rising star EST Gee. Though he’s been exploring a bit of melodic territory lately, G-Eazy has decided that it’s time to get back to his Bay Area roots. For the occasion, the rapper takes to a spooky woodwind-driven banger, the perfect backdrop for some unapologetic flexing.

In that department, few can match Young Gerald’s experience, having lived the fast life while embracing the darker side of his vices. “Came in this bitch with exceptional spirit,” he spits. “Bulletproof vision, cannot let ’em kill it / Real ones acknowledge my shit ’cause they feel it.” Fresh off the release of his acclaimed new album Bigger Than Life Or Death, EST Gee holds it down to conclude the track. “I done been too close to death to be scared,” he raps, alluding to a recent shooting that left him shot in the stomach. “I get my gun when they come unprepared / money bring shy bitches right out they shell.”

It’s a simple but effective formula. Two solid verses from two solid rappers, held together nicely by a hard-hitting instrumental. Check out G-Eazy and EST Gee’s “At Will” now.

Bktherula Sticks To Her Guns On “Not Wock”

For better or worse, no one in Hip-Hop is currently making music like Bktherula. The sensational Atlanta upstart’s breakout single “TWEAKIN’ TOGETHER” earned herself a deal with Warner Records in 2020, and before the year was out, she delivered the ambient and sonically robust mixtape Nirvana

This year, Bktherula has been keeping that momentum going with tracks like “Blue” and “Santanny,” and now the inimitable rising artist is back with a spacy new track titled “Not Wock.”

Like much of Bktherula’s music so far, the femcee rattles off attention-catching bars throughout “Not Wock.” They just may be a little challenging to catch at first due to Bk’s lightning-quick pace and her tendency to occupy the weaker and more unexpected pockets of her characteristically frenetic beats. While “Not Wock” is not as sonically abrasive as the previously mentioned “Blue,” it demonstrates Bktherula’s full dedication to her unique, even if jarring, style.

Get familiar with Bktherula and her off-kilter brand of rap by listening to “Not Wock” below.

Wale & DJ Premier Team Up For The Smooth “Why Would I Stop”

Hip-Hop fans have been treated to a surprise, yet welcomed, collaboration between DJ Premier and Wale, and it’s all thanks to Mark Ronson’s new Watch the Sound docuseries on Apple TV+. According to HipHop-N-More, the show will “examines sound creation and revolutionary technology used to shape music, and the lengths producers and creators are willing to go to find the perfect sound,” and artists such as Paul McCartney, Dave Grohl, and Questlove are set to appear in Watch the Sound.

Coinciding with the premiere of Mark Ronson’s six-part docuseries, a new song from the song’s soundtrack has been shared as well, and it features none other than the collaboration between Wale and DJ Premier. Titled “Why Would I Stop,” the smooth cut is a much too short offering that finds Folarin waxing poetic over a laid-back Preemo beat.

Listen to “Why Would I Stop” below and let us know if you’re feeling DJ Premier and Wale’s new track together.

Quotable Lyrics

You like the clout, I love the game
You and I not the same
I’m wise beyond my years, you dumb as all your days
Too much has happened to me, I should just pack up and leave
Blackballin’ all that they do, I got that Kaepernick beef

Logic Flexes On Em’ With “See You Space Cowboy”

Every so often, an artist needs to snap over a hard-hitting instrumental, if only to remind the masses that they still have it. For Logic, that occasion arose on “See You Space Cowboy,” a highlight from his experimental new album Bobby Tarantino III

Marking his first big drop since his retirement, well, last year, Logic generally opted for a more laid-back and melodic approach — at least on the majority of the non-“Vaccine” singles. As such, there’s something immediately refreshing about “Space Cowboy,” and Logic wastes little time in putting on a flow clinic. Opting for a rapid-fire approach, Logic reflects on snapshots of his past as re-examined through the lens of financial and familial success. And that’s only in the first half — for the second, Bobby switches gears over a smooth instrumental, closing things out with a message to his loyal fans.

Russ Takes A Breather On “Fate”

New Jersey rapper and singer Russ continues to flaunt his consistency with the release of “Fate,” his 13th single since early May. His inspiration for the string of singles have varied from women, money, travel, and his rise to the top, though this latest track is a refreshing step back from the artist both sonically and thematically. While last week’s “Lake Como” release found Russ taking on the infectious romance of the Summer, “Fate” is an ode to the laidback days of July.

The new release is backed by a relaxing and pleasantly simple boom-bap beat– a signature of Russ’s production at this point in his career. On the instrumental, the rapper and singer gives fans a taste of his weathered versatility. The track kicks off with a melodic chorus that could be found in any R&B track, as Russ moves away from his incessant grind and instead hopes fate will figure things out for him.

A catchy and introspective rap verse follows the chorus and sees Russ touching on his most well-known talking points: criticizing the rap game and boasting about his accomplishments. While he could take a more conventional route through the industry, Russ decides he’d rather stay outside the box and maintain his independent and outspoken persona.

Check out the track below.

One way or another, I’ma figure this out
Don’t know where, don’t know when, and I don’t know how
So I’ma just drink, smoke, chalk it up to fate

Dave East & G Herbo Keep It Real On “Go Off”

Dave East and Harry Fraud — a logical pairing if ever there was one — have officially teamed up to deliver the new album Hoffa. Designed for those who can appreciate the art of mafioso hip-hop in its purest form, Hoffa features a spirited performance from East across the boards, who takes to Fraud’s versatile array of production with a veteran’s calculated approach.

While there are plenty of gems to unearth on Hoffa, there’s something immediately appealing about the G Herbo-assisted “Go Off.” Featuring a beautiful blend of acoustic guitar and an ominous vocal sample, Fraud’s production is at once modern and nostalgic. Despite their differentiating styles, East and Herbo’s chemistry is certainly solid, with the latter’s slightly off-beat delivery somehow hitting with precision. “Now when I get it I stash it,” raps East. “I go to Texas they treat a n***a like a Maverick.”

Maxo Kream Is Finally Back With His New Single “Local Joker”

Maxo Kream is finally back and he’s got an album on the way. The first piece of the puzzle has officially arrived with the new single “Local Joker” dropping on Friday.

This marks the first new music from the Houston rapper in nearly two years. The young OG is a staple in his city’s hip-hop scene but he took a hiatus after the tragic passing of his brother. He’s back now and he’s spitting with a vengeance, dropping “Local Joker” for his real fans. We’ve been missing Maxo in the game throughout the entire pandemic so it’s nice to see him back.

With an album coming soon, we’ll keep you posted on all of the latest Maxo Kream news so keep it locked to HNHH.

Quotable Lyrics:

When I go back to my hood, I see them same old n***as
On the same old shit, with them same old issues
Tried to show ’em if I did it, they could probably do it bigger
But all we ever talk about is them same old bitches and them same old stories and them same old figures
We was stackin’ up in high school, for them Jordans we would kill you
I could lead you to the water but can’t pedal your canoe
Reminisce ’bout money doin’ stupid shit we used to do

Skepta & Kid Cudi Reunite On “Peace Of Mind”

UK heavyweight Skepta has officially returned with another dose of new music, keeping it moving with the five-track EP All In. As it happens, the project finds Skeppy reuniting with Kid Cudi, with whom he previously worked on Man On The Moon III highlight “Show Out.” Now, the pair have once again joined forces for “Peace Of Mind,” featuring an additional contribution from Teezee.

Over a triumphant instrumental by Josh Faulkner and Skepta, all three parties exhibit solid chemistry. “Give me the loot, nothin’ to prove, I’m really a goon,” raps Skepta, somehow toeing the line between amusing and formidable. “I stay with the honey like Winnie the Pooh / We got the acid, we got the shrooms.” Teezee and Kid Cudi hold it down with a verse apiece, and the latter opts to lay back and let the music take over. It’s an interesting approach from Mr. Rager, and though it’s not the most technically dazzling contribution, it goes a long way in enhancing “Show Out’s” acid-and-shroom-tinged vibe.
