Snot And ASAP Rocky’s Unruly ‘Doja’ Video Draws The Attention Of Doja Cat Herself

Next week, rowdy punk rapper Snot will release his second album, Ethereal, via 300 Entertainment, following up his attention-grabbing 2020 debut, Beautiful Havoc. After building his buzz with splashy collaboration with Denzel Curry (“Sangria“), Iann Dior (“Like Me“), and Kevin Abstract (“Slugger,” also featuring Slowthai), Snot levels up on his new album, which features guest appearances from Joey Badass, Juicy J, Trippie Redd, and ASAP Rocky.

The latter appears on a rebellious party song called “Doja,” named for exactly who it sounds like it is. Today, a week before the album’s official release, Snot dropped the video for the song, which features some surreal imagery like bodies falling upward outside a project building in New York (which features a mural of Virgil Abloh with ASAP Yams’ recognizable birthmark) and Snot getting the word “Doja” tattooed on his arm as the two rappers’ crew stampedes their way through a subway station.

The song and the video are exactly what we’ve come to expect from these two, fusing the rampaging energy of punk rock show with braggadocious rap lyrics. However, one of those lyrics actually got the attention of Doja Cat herself on Twitter (which might have been the point all along), who seemed to take issue with Snot’s assertion that he “f*cked that bitch named Doja Cat.” She tweeted and deleted a reply to his tweet sharing the track, writing, “You f*cked who?”

We’re long past the era of expecting rappers to “keep it real” in their songs, so it’s likely Snot was just doing some youthful boasting but maybe next time, he should clear the reference with its subject before just throwing it out there.

Brockhampton’s Kevin Abstract Unveils The Good-Vibes Solo Single ‘Slugger’ Featuring Snot And Slowthai

A few months back, LA hip-hop boy band Brockhampton released their album Roadrunner: New Light, New Machine. They’ve also got a needle-drop on the recently released reboot Space Jam: A New Legacy. Now, Brockhampton leader Kevin Abstract has an upbeat new solo single out called “Slugger,” which features guest spots from Slowthai and SoundCloud rapper Snot.

As Stereogum notes, “Slugger” is co-produced by Abstract, Al Hug and Brockhampton’s Romil Hemnani. Plus, its release coincides with the first collection from Abstract’s own Video Store Apparel. “Slugger” also has an accompanying video where Abstract and friends lay out verses in what looks like the Video Store warehouse, while, of course, modeling the clothes.

Back in March, Abstract, who released solo album Arizona Baby in 2019, announced that Brockhampton’s next two albums would be their last as a group. Addressing impending split on Twitter, he wrote, “We all love each other and we wanna continue making the best music we can,” he wrote. “Everybody just getting a lil older and got a lot to say outside of group projects. We’ve dedicated the last ten years of our lives to making music together. This next project we’re just doing what’s rite.”

Snot Cruises Through Life With A Carefree Spirit On The Laid-Back ‘Red’

Snot has spent most of the year sharing videos from his late-2020 album, Beautiful Havoc. The visuals highlighted the young act’s work on the project as he continued to elevate his game in the months that followed. Now, the Florida native returns with his brand new single, “Red.” The track is a chilled effort that captures Snot’s carefree spirit as he moves through life on the new release. From his cars to the ladies, the rapper seems to take everything that comes his way in stride while not letting it affect him too much.

In addition to the new “Red” single, you could revisit Beautiful Havoc or give it a first listen if you haven’t pressed play yet. A growing portfolio of visuals for the project also makes it more appealing to dive into. There’s the contemplative video for “Life” and a frantic effort for “Sangria” with fellow Florida native Denzel Curry. You can also indulge in a high-speed effort with the “Like Me” visual before pressing play on the haunting video for Snot and Flo Milli’s “Mean” collaboration. All in all, there’s plenty to enjoy when it comes to the rising Florida act.

Snot Is Not Okay In His Contemplative ‘Life’ Video

Snot’s streaming of videos from Beautiful Havoc continues with one of his most personal tracks from the Florida rapper’s sophomore album, “Life.” Contemplating the difficulties of living with himself, Snot admits, “I just wanna chill by myself ’cause I’m not okay.”

In the video, Snot stares out a bedroom window during a storm, watching his child doppelganger drive off in a station wagon. Elsewhere, Snot wanders through a field alone holding a pistol, which he points at another double of himself in a surreal, self-destructive murder-suicide. At the end of the video, though, his dark thoughts are interrupted by his child self embracing him, prompting a smile and a friendly wave out the window.

“Life” brings the total of videos from the project to seven. Snot kicked off the deluge in September with “Revenge,” then followed up a month later with the Flo Milli-featuring “Mean.” Although his next single, “Sangria” featuring Denzel Curry, was released ahead of the album drop, Snot’s frantic video for the track didn’t arrive until February this year.

Between then and now, Snot pushed out three more videos: The violent “Who Do I Trust,” the antisocial “Watch Out,” and the Iann Dior-featuring romp, “Like Me.”
