The greats of the West Coast are linking up this summer. Ahead of their long-anticipated Mount Westmore collaborative album, Snoop Dogg has taken to Instagram to reveal a release date for the project, with features him, E-40, Ice Cube, and Too Short.

Mount Westmore’s album is set to drop June 7. In the trailer, fans can hear a new song, which samples Gil Scott-Heron and Brian Jackson’s “Angel Dust.”

The group first formed around this time last year. In an interview with HotNewHipHop, Snoop said the album would be “magic.”

“You bring the legends of the West Coast together, something great will always happen,” Snoop said. “Cube, 40, Short, and I have been running the game for years. This is the perfect time because each of us brings authentic and new ideas to the table. All four together? That’s magic.”

Also maintaining the group’s legendary status is Too Short, who spoke on the writing and recording process of the album last year in an interview with HipHopDX.

“I’m going to tell you one thing, one beautiful thing about the process is that early on we all acknowledge that in the studio, we are supreme alphas,” Short said. “We’ve always been that way, but on this project, we gave each other the authority to criticize, critique, veto, make suggestions, and just everything is like hands-down, I trust what you saying.

Snoop Dogg Reveals He Fainted When He Saw Tupac In The Hospital After He Was Shot

Snoop Dogg and Tupac were two of the most prominent rap artists in the ’90s, both representing the West Coast as members of Death Row Records and maintaining a close friendship. Amidst rumors of tension between the label imprint, the dynamic changed a bit but not enough to where the “Gin & Juice” artist wouldn’t stop by to see Pac in his time of need. Snoop recently recalled his final moments with the “Dear Mama” rapper on Logan Paul’s podcast Impaulsive.

Snoop drove to Las Vegas after Tupac was shot in a drive-by shooting. He told Paul “We feeling like it’s going to be alright until we go to the hospital and see that he ain’t alright. He got tubes in him, and it’s like when I walked in, like, I could just feel that he wasn’t even there, and I fainted. Then his mother got me up and walked me to the bathroom, and had a conversation with me about being strong.”

Snoop has committed to keeping what they built alive as he recently purchased Death Row in a historic deal back in February. The 50-year-old recently released “Touch Away” featuring October London ahead of the Death Row summer album. Check out Snoop Dogg recounting the unfortunate experience on Impaulsive above.

Snoop Dogg Explains Why He Turned Down $2 Million To DJ For Michael Jordan, Who He’s Never Met

In addition to being one of hip-hop’s most beloved cultural figures and a rap icon, Snoop Dogg has had a successful career as a DJ. So successful, in fact, that he says he was recently offered $2 million to DJ at an event thrown by Michael Jordan — an opportunity he turned down despite never having met the NBA’s GOAT. Snoop recounted the incident for Logan Paul’s podcast, Impaulsive.

“One of the craziest deals I turned down was $2 million to DJ for a Michael Jordan event,” he recalled. “And I’ve never met Michael Jordan, and I wanna meet him.” He also elaborated on why he turned it down — which boiled down to having too many prior engagements. “I was doing some other sh*t, I had sh*t to do and I had way more customers before I get to you,” he said. “I never met Michael Jordan, and I wanna meet him, and I wanna meet him on a different—I don’t wanna meet him on no DJing. I wanna meet him as a fan, as a boss.”

Snoop imagined what he’d say to the legendary hooper. “It’s like, ‘Mike, I’ve loved you since North Carolina, I’m a big fan of yours, I love what you do, you one of the greatest to ever do it. Give me a couple of secrets on how you did this. Can I get a picture with you? You wanna smoke a blunt? Hey man, it’s been real.’”

Elsewhere in the interview, Snoop spoke about his recent purchase of Death Row Records. You can watch the full episode here.

Today in Hip-Hop History: Slick Rick Dropped His Last Album ‘The Art Of Storytelling’ 23 Years Ago

On this day in Hip Hop history, Slick Rick released his final studio LP, The Art of Story Telling.

Mostly produced by DJ Clark Kent and Kid Capri, this album featured guest verses from the likes of Redman, Rev Run, Outkast, Nas, Raekwon, and Snoop Dogg.

Critically the album has been hailed as the only proper sequel to his breakthrough debut album, The Great Adventures Of Slick Rick. Due to continuous run-ins with the law, the public was never really able to fully experience Slick Rick as an artist. For the same reason, the world will never know what his outstanding ability and outspoken persona could have done for Hip Hop culture. What is apparent is that when the master storyteller has the time, he can pen and deliver a masterpiece.

The Art of Storytelling was Slick Rick’s most commercially successful album, peaking at #8 on the Billboard 200 chart and #1 on the Top R&B/Hip Hop charts. The album even went gold during its first week of sales. True to the title, the album is full of narratives that could only be crafted by the pen that scribed the famous “Children’s Story.” And although he has not strayed away from his signature rhetoric, The Art of Storytelling shows improvement and Slick Rick’s ability to stay relevant as far as his own style blending with the popular sound of the time. As a whole, this album is deserving of all accolades and is a proper farewell to Slick Rick as an album rapper.

Rapper Snoop Dogg Calls Out Instagram: ‘They Apart Of Amerikka’

snoop

Last week, a white supremacist in army gear killed 10 innocent people shopping at a Buffalo supermarket.
A clip shared on social media showed an 18-year-old gunman killing innocent black people while stopping to say ‘sorry’ to a white man during the melee.

After sharing the controversial clip online, rapper and activist Mysonne was blocked from going live on Instagram.

This is so wack !! smh no real reason at All . I shared a clip of the White Supremacist saying sorry no shots nothing and it was Removed and my lives blocked .. Instagram ain’t for us !

Fellow rapper Snoop Dogg chimed in leaving the comment, “Fuck. Instagram they apart of amerikkka.” Many social media users feel they are being censored from speaking on anti-black hate.
During the early days of the pandemic, Payton Gendron logged on to the 4chan message board website to browse ironic memes and infographics that spread the idea that the white race is going extinct. He was soon lurking on the web’s even more sinister fringes, scrolling through extremist and neo-Nazi sites that peddled conspiracy theories and anti-Black racism. In a twist of compassion and turning a blind eye, many media outlets have stated the ‘young boy’ was troubled because of COVID and he must have had a mental issue.

Ironically not all hate is considered hate in America, When Asians are attacked, laws are put in place. When white supremacy rears its head, excuses are made. When black people are even questioned about crime they are shot and killed on spot. Where is the outcry for the innocent victims shopping for their Sunday dinners? Saying nothing and being complacent is also a loud, outright response.  When we march and fight for the rights of others, it’s painfully noticeable when it’s not reciprocated. This fight in America is not about color, it’s about good vs evil.

What side are you on?
