Why Does Ice Spice Say ‘Stop Playing With ‘Em, Riot’?

You might have noticed that Ice Spice songs tend to have one thing in common: On the track, she will at some point early in the song say, “Stop playing with ’em, Riot.” Well, why does she do that?

Why Does Ice Spice Say ‘Stop Playing With ‘Em, Riot’?

That reused audio clip is actually what’s called a “producer tag” for Riot, a producer who has worked closely with Ice Spice. A producer tag is essentially a brief audio signature for producers, which they include on songs they produce as a way to let listeners know that they’re responsible for the track’s production.

In a 2023 interview with Billboard, Riot explained how the tag came to be, saying, “I originally had [a] tag that was recorded by me, and I put a couple effects on it. But I outgrew it, and I was looking for something new and fresh. I was like, ‘Why not ask Ice to record me a tag?’ — and I didn’t tell her what to say. The first thing that she had sent me back was, ‘Stop playing with ’em, Riot.’ I took it, pitched it a little bit, I threw in some reverb, and the rest is history.”

Some other recognizable producer tags include those of Metro Boomin (“If young Metro don’t trust you, I’m gon’ shoot you”), Tay Keith (“Tay Keith, f*ck these n****s up”), and Harry Fraud (“La musica de Harry Fraud”).

RZA, Rihanna, & ASAP Rocky Are The All-American Family Sans Baby Riot At The Park

Not every celebrity who takes on the daunting task of parenthood has an easy time tackling the job. So far, ASAP Rocky and Rihanna seem to only be settling more comfortably into themselves since welcoming two sons over the past two years. When they filmed the “Fashion Killa” visual together over a decade ago, it’s unlikely the lovers (who were then only friends) saw themselves forming a family together in the future. However, they now have the ever-pleasant RZA running around on them, as well as newborn Riot Rose Mayers.

After taking some time out of the spotlight to recover from her second pregnancy, we’ve been seeing the Bad Gal back outside in recent weeks. Many appearances have been showcasing a notably lighter hairstyle for the coming winter, though Rocky has been spending less time by his partner’s side as of late. Seeing as he’s in the midst of court proceedings for allegedly shooting ASAP Relli, some fans have expressed concern that trouble is afoot for the pair as the “Changes” artist awaits his fate. Thankfully, DailyMail reported on Monday (November 13) that he and his better half spent the last of their weekend relaxing at a Los Angeles park with their firstborn.

Parenthood Looks Good on ASAP Rocky and Rihanna

As per usual, the multi-talents coordinated their outfits to look as cool as ever. While Rih rocked a vibrant, red sport jacket from Loewe, Rocky provided the perfect contrast in his navy colorway of the same model. Both artists wore blue baseball caps and oversized, light-wash denim for their day out together. 17-month-old RZA rode in his stroller in front of them, looking more like the perfect blend of his mom and dad with each passing day.

Unfortunately for Rocky, the joy of being a new father to RZA and Riot has been slightly overshadowed by his beef with ASAP Relli. Earlier this month, the ASAP Mob leader’s alleged shooting victim opened up about the PTSD he’s been plagued with since the incident. Read more about that at the link below, and since we can’t share the latest paparazzi photos of Rihanna and her family at the park on HNHH, you can find them by clicking the Via.

Ice Spice’s Producer Riot’s 2023 Wireless Festival Minimalist Tech Rider Was The Butt Of A Few Online Jokes

Wireless Festival tends unintentionally bring way to a wave of chaotic energy. Whether an act booked for the multi-day festival finds themselves arguing with a fan in the crowd, phones being hurled around, or someone taking a hard tumble on stage, there’s never a dull moment. On the contrary, this year’s festivities gave birth to one hilarious joke due to Ice Spice’s producer Riot’s minimalist tech rider.

A lot goes into delivering a great show, but the “Barbie World” rapper only needs a mic. While Riot, who stood in as her onstage DJ, simply required the proper cords to connect to the speakers. One fan tuned into the festival’s live stream noticed the Riot’s bare table and took to Twitter to laugh about it. “Ice Spice DJ with the least demanding tech rider in Wireless history 😂,” wrote the user.

Riot joined in on the lighthearted roast, replying to the user, “Because I’m not a DJ 😭.” Ice Spice successfully completed her set without any compliments from attendees. So, it looks like the low-maintenance technical needs go to get the job done.

During her time in London, Ice Spice appeared on BBC Radio 1. When asked if she was enjoying herself, cheerfully replied, “I love it here. It kind of reminds me of New York a lit bit.”

Ice went on to say that while the cultures are similar, the major cities share something else in common, saying, “The smells too! Because I think yesterday was garbage day,” referring to London’s unique scent.

Summer Walker Turns 27: Stream “Riot” In Celebration Of The R&B Darling’s Birthday

For most people, today is like any other Tuesday, but for Summer Walker, April 11 marks her 27th trip around the sun. The vocalist has accomplished plenty at such a young age, from giving birth to three children – including twins – freeing herself from toxic relationships, and releasing albums like Over It and Still Over It. To help celebrate her special day, we’ve decided to throw it back to one of her earliest releases, “Riot,” which first landed on her CLEAR EP along with three other titles.

Since its January 2019 debut, the short and sweet song has been streamed over 30 million times on Spotify alone. “You said you want love, babe / You said you can give it to me just how I, I need,” Walker’s stunning voice rings out as “Riot” begins. “And you think of roses and daisies / And I think of passion and fire like Hades,” her expressive lyrics continue. “You say all the time, peace and quiet / But for my love, I need a riot, a riot.”

Other titles on the CLEAR EP include “Grave,” “Wasted,” and “Settling,” all of which have become beloved by fans in their own right. After over four years, Walker announced during her recent set at J. Cole’s Dreamville Festival that she’ll be coming with a follow-up to the four-track project later this spring. Called Clear 2: Soft Life, the highly anticipated release is slated for this coming May, though we don’t know how many songs, or guest features (if any) to expect.

The EP will mark the Atlanta native’s first major arrival since 2021’s Still Over It. Stream Summer Walker’s “Riot” on YouTube above, or add it to your playlist on Spotify/Apple Music. What’s your favourite throwback track by the R&B starlet? Let us know in the comments below, and check back later this week for more HNHH release recommendations.

Quotable Lyrics:

And you think of roses and daisies
And I think of passion and fire like Hades
You say all the time, peace and quiet
But for my love, I need a riot, a riot

Nardo Wick Promises To Start A ‘Riot’ For What He Loves In His New Song

Nardo Wick has a charmingly haunting voice, and utilizes its full range in his new single “Riot.” The song opens with a near whisper before the beat kicks in and Wick taps into his bread and butter. “I didn’t get why they was laughing, I was waiting on the joke / I was waiting for them at the door.” While he is in self-preservation mode, he will also do all that is necessary for the people he loves: “For the ones I love I’ll burn down the whole town.” In short, Nardo Wick is not somebody that you want to cross.

“Riot” follows up April’s “Krazy Krazy,” and both of them could hint at a certain direction Nardo Wick may be looking to go. After all, the 20-year-old rapper did burst onto the scene with the menacing bop “Who Wants Smoke?” which was later remixed by Lil Durk, 21 Savage and G Herbo. Wick got a Future and Lil Baby co-sign early with the track “Me Or Sum,” and appeared on Latto’s album 777. So far, everything is going as well as it could be for the young artist but he still has his battles he encounters.
