Rico Nasty Struts Her Stuff In The Stylish ‘Blow Me’ Video

Rico Nasty is well-known for her brash energy and punk-influenced rasp of a voice, but she’s also equally well-known for her unique sense of style. Rico’s ‘fits run the gamut from thrashed-out baby doll outfits — like Clueless with a hardcore makeover — to catwalk-ready haute couture. In her new video for “Blow Me,” she showcases her style with a simple setup, strutting on a treadmill against a white background as she cycles seamlessly through a series of wild ensembles.

“Blow Me” is the latest single from Rico’s upcoming album Las Ruinas, which is due on July 22 through Atlantic Records. Although it’s the follow-up to her debut album Nightmare Vacation, it’s said to be much lighter in comparison. While that suggests a return to the airy “sugar trap” of her early mixtapes, it’s clear from previously released tracks like “Black Punk,” “Blow Me,” “Skullflower,” and “Vaderz” that “lighter” is relative when it comes to Rico Nasty. The project will also feature appearances from fellow genre benders Bktherula, Teezo Touchdown, and Marshmello, along with a remix of Fred Again’s “Jungle.”

Rico Nasty Reveals She’s Over Being The Ugly Friend

Rico Nasty

Fred Again Recruits Rico Nasty For A Chaotic Remix Of His Song ‘Jungle’

Last month, Fred Again released the danceable anthem “Jungle” after teasing it for a few weeks during slots at festivals, including Coachella. Now, he’s teamed up with Rico Nasty for a chaotic, disruptive remix. The track has been totally transformed; the rapper’s vocals add a new layer of intensity that makes the beat drop even bigger. At three-and-a-half minutes, it’s the perfect song to dance to at the club.

Both of the artists have been pretty busy. Rico Nasty also dropped a new song of her own today called “Sunflower.” “Everyone hates the new song but eye love it,” Nasty wrote in a tweet, “and besides when was I ever gonna have a SUNFLOWER FIELD LIKE THAT AND A SONG CALLED SKULLFLOWER AT THE SAME TIME.” She later followed up, noting that she is no longer making music to appeal to the masses, writing, “Im not tryna go number one. Im just making music that I like again. If you don’t get it. Then don’t. Im not about to waste my entire career pleasing people, that’s not what I’m here for. I hope you respect that.”

Rico Nasty Doesn’t Care If You Don’t Like Her New Song, ‘Skullflower’

Rico Nasty has returned to her true form. On her newest track, “Skullflower,” she embraces the weirdness for which her fans know and love her, while denouncing the need for validation within the mainstream.

On “Skullflower,” the latest from her upcoming album, Las Ruinas, Nasty delivers her signature yell-rapping stylings in a slightly pitched-up form, over a bubbly, synth-pop- and alternative-inspired beat, reminiscent of the days of MySpace pop-punk. In the song’s accompanying music video, Nasty is seen wearing a long, lush, gray wig, along with a maid uniform, all of which make for a beautiful contrast as she frolics through a field of sunflowers.

While fans have tweeted their support for the song and its video, Nasty couldn’t help but notice that she had received some hate. “Everyone hates the new song but eye love it,” said Nasty in a tweet, “and besides when was I ever gonna have a SUNFLOWER FIELD LIKE THAT AND A SONG CALLED SKULLFLOWER AT THE SAME TIME.”

Nasty later followed up, noting that she is no longer making music to appeal to the masses, writing, “Im not tryna go number one. Im just making music that I like again. If you don’t get it. Then don’t. Im not about to waste my entire career pleasing people, that’s not what I’m here for. I hope you respect that.

Rico Nasty Has No Problem Wreaking Havoc On The Riotous ‘Black Punk’

The last time Rico Nasty released an album was at the end of 2020 with Nightmare Vacation. It was a 16-track effort that featured guest appearances from Trippie Redd, Aminé, Gucci Mane, Don Toliver, Sukhiana, Rubi Rose, and Ppcocaine. Since then, the DMV rockstar delivered a number of collaborations with the likes of Flo Milli, Denzel Curry, Duke Deuce, and more. However, now it’s time for a new project of her own, one that she’s been teasing for a while now. While we still wait for a title and a release date, Rico returns with her new single “Black Punk.”

The new single is quite a riotous effort as Rico has no issue with wreaking havoc in the world around her. “My hitters, they bangin’, they’ll blow any minute / Walk through the front, but I still get the bag,” she raps with an aggressive tone. “N**** act stupid, I might have to smack / Life is a movie but I never act.”

Rico’s new single joins previous singles like “Intrusive” and “Vaderz” with Bktherula. She also hinted at a June 17 (today) release date for her next project, but as of now, it appears that it won’t be arriving today. Hopefully, Rico’s new project will arrive before she hits the road with Kehlani and Destin Conrad starting next month.

You can listen to “Black Punk” in the video above.

It Looks Like Rico Nasty Just Announced The Release Date Of Her Next Project

Rico Nasty’s last full-length project, her debut album Nightmare Vacation, is around a year and a half old now, so you can’t blame her fans for being anxious for a new one. And although Rico’s been releasing singles here and there, like the jock jam influenced “Money” with Flo Milli and her latest song, “Intrusive,” it didn’t look like there was an official rollout happening.

However, Rico’s a rebel who does things her own way. Case in point: It looks like she may have actually announced her new project on Twitter ahead of a wider release strategy. After a cryptic tweet reading, “17 :D,” it didn’t take long for fans to start speculating. However, Rico was equally quick to lay that speculation to rest, replying to a fan’s question, “17 tracks or June 17th???” with an enthusiastic response: “Bitch when I say BOTH.”

She didn’t offer much in response to further fan prodding except to confirm an upcoming European tour, but she did tease some details about the upcoming collection. “And by the way I do have some ‘singy songs’ for u lil soft ass bitches,” she wrote in a separate tweet.

More information is undoubtedly forthcoming but for now, fans can at least look forward to Rico’s return in June — and her tour with Kehlani.

The Music World Shares Their Condolences After The Tragic Shooting At Texas’ Robb Elementary School

On Tuesday, The United States was once again hit with news of a mass shooting, and this time, it sadly occurred at an elementary school. An 18-year-old gunman entered Texas’ Robb Elementary School and began shooting at students and teachers in the building. The suspect, Salvador Ramos, was eventually shot and killed during a stand-off with officers. According to AP, the incident is the deadliest shooting at a U.S. grade school since 20 students and six adults were killed at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut back in 2012.

The shooting at Robb Elementary School occurred just ten days after a racially-motivating shooting at a supermarket in Buffalo left ten dead. Unfortunately, both cases are examples of the mass shootings that occurred over and over again in the United States over the last decade. The shooting has left the music world to send condolences and extend a loving hand to a community, and a country, that could really use it.

Taylor Swift offered her words after she watched Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr speak passionately and criticize government leaders during a press conference. “Filled with rage and grief, and so broken by the murders in Uvalde,” Taylor wrote. “By Buffalo, Laguna Woods and so many others. By the ways in which we, as a nation, have become conditioned to unfathomable and unbearable heartbreak. Steve’s words ring so true and cut so deep.”

Missy Elliot also shared a message of her own on Twitter. “We living in some TRYING TIMES… It’s heavy,” she wrote. “I am praying for everyone that is struggling MENTALLY/FINANCIALLY/PHYSICALLY that some PEACE be RESTORED! So many in the world is dealing with pain & I don’t have the answers but I send you LOVE virtually.”
