According to a recent interview with Vibe Magazine, Migos’ Quavo said that following his role in the new film Praise This, he’s be open to making a gospel album.
Starring the likes of Chloe Bailey, Anjelika Washington, Druski, Tristan Mack Wilds and many more seasoned actors, Quavo’s acting debut has been very pivotal in his career and seems to be opening up more creative possibilities after the loss of Takeoff.
Speaking on how he initially landed the role, Quavo said, “I was surprised. I’ve been going at Will [Packer] for a long time, for about four years now,” he recalled. “We’re good friends. I’ve been telling him to put me in something. He was just like, ‘Wait for the right time, wait for the right time.’ The right timing came, Praise This, and I’m proud to be a part of it.”
When speaking on the likelihood of a gospel album ,Quavo said, “I wouldn’t mind, but I like working with gospel artists. I think that they feel that’s how they got it. And I got it out the mud in another different lane. But whenever we cross [paths] and get together, I think, ‘Yes, we should do something.’ I think I should do a collab, yeah.”

Quavo’s ramping up for the release of his next solo album. The former de facto frontman of the Migos has been slowly rolling out his next studio project. Though there isn’t a release date yet, he’s dropped off a string of promising records dedicated to Takeoff, who passed away shortly after they released their joint project. However, Quavo seems to be preparing to take on the world with his next opus as he slowly returns to the fold.
Following Takeoff’s death, Quavo didn’t really pop out for months. He spoke at the funeral but only in early January did he break his silence with the release of “WITHOUT YOU.” The single served as a heartbreaking tribute to his nephew and he later performed the song at the Grammys during the In Memoriam segment. Still, he hasn’t necessarily dealt with the media directly or really popped out for celebrity-laden affairs.
It seems as though Quavo is laser-focused on the release of his follow-up to Quavo Huncho. The Atlanta rapper took to Twitter where he shed light on his mentality going into his next project. With Takeoff on his mind, he suggested that he’s pouring out every single thought and emotion into his next project. “#RocketPower [rocket emoji] All My Emotions In This Album No Interviews,” he wrote, along with the infinity symbol and a lock emoji. Unfortunately, he didn’t share a release date for when we could expect the project.
Things have been particularly active for Quavo in the past few weeks. He unleashed the single, “Greatness,” followed by “Honeybun,” which contains an interpolation of Drake and 21 Savage’s viral “Rich Flex” hook. Over the weekend, he made an appearance in the film Praise This starring Chlöe Bailey while also announcing that he’ll be hosting his annual celebrity football game (Huncho Day) in Atlanta with Gucci Mane, Ochocinco, Ronnie 2K, Taylor Rooks, and many more. Chloe Bailey has been linked to multiple rappers throughout her short solo music career. Fans were sure she and Gunna were a couple in late 2021. The singer built up fan anticipation during an IG Live session when she revealed she wanted to show off her boo. “I want to invite you into my world, and I want you to meet my man,” she told viewers. “We’ve been together for a little bit, and he makes me really happy.” She then spoke to the supposed guy, looking toward the corner of her hotel room.
Appearing to speak to someone, Bailey asked if he was ready to get on the camera so her supporters could meet him. Sparking disappointment everywhere, she turned her phone to show a completely empty side of the bed. Obviously alluding to her man being invisible, Bailey playfully said, “I’m in love,” before laughing at her own antics.
The Chloe x Halle star is busier than ever these days as she expands her acting portfolio. She recently appeared in the Amazon Prime original series Swarm. This was followed by Praise This alongside Quavo, another Amazon Prime presentation. Their appearance in the film and on the red carpet together is what initially sparked the dating chatter. The Future rumors date back to 2021, though they both denied them. Their joint single on her debut album, “In Pieces,” only refueled these romance claims. It looks like the 24-year-old doesn’t want to be linked to anything besides music at this point in her career.

Saweetie and Offset were rumored to have a romantic relationship in early 2021. However, both parties denied the rumors and claimed they were just friends. In March 2021, Saweetie announced that she had broken up with her boyfriend, Quavo, after two years of dating. Shortly after the announcement, TMZ posted a video of Quavo and Saweetie getting into a physical altercation in an elevator.
Following the video’s release, rumors circulated that Saweetie had cheated on Quavo with Offset. However, Saweetie and Offset denied the allegations. Despite the denials, fans speculate about the alleged relationship between Saweetie and Offset. Some have even gone as far as to create conspiracy theories about the situation.
Soon after, Quavo’s new album with Takeoff, Only Built For Infinity Links, was released in October 2022, and fans believed that the song “Messy” was Quavo was alluding to an affair. However, Cardi B explained on The Jason Lee Podcast that she didn’t want to feed into the rumors. “You know why I was quiet?” Cardi asked. “I was quiet because one thing I’m gonna do, I’m gonna find out the truth. So far, neither Saweetie nor Offset has issued a public statement addressing the rumors. Saweetie, who has over 15 million followers on Instagram, has posted on her social media since the scandal broke out. Still, none of them directly refer to Offset or the allegations. Offset has been active on Twitter, but his tweets have not mentioned Saweetie or the rumors. He has retweeted some positive messages from fans and promoted music-related projects. Still, his silence on the topic has fueled speculation that he may be trying to avoid the controversy.

Saweetie and Quavo’s relationship was filled with drama. One of the most controversial moments occurred in March 2021 when a video surfaced online showing the couple in a physical altercation in an elevator. Takeoff is in fact Quavo’s nephew despite the two being only three years apart. Takeoff’s mother is Quavo’s older sister, and Offset is Takeoff’s cousin. Quavo’s mother, Edna Marshall, raised all three members in Gwinnett County in the northern suburbs of Atlanta. So, despite their actual blood relations, the three see each other as brothers. This led to their name, the Migos, and all three members refer to each other as brothers.
The Migos first started making music together in 2009 under the name “Polo Club.” The trio was inspired by other Southern rap groups such as Outkast and the Hot Boys. Quavo was a star quarterback for his high school football team but dropped out to pursue music. The three officially changed their name to Migos in 2010 and gained regional success in 2012 with their song “Bando.” The song caught the attention of producer Zaytoven and manager Coach K, who helped launch the careers of Gucci Mane and Young Jeezy.
The Migos blew up in 2013 with their almost overnight hit “Versace.” The song caught the attention of Drake, and the Canadian rapper remixed the song with a verse of his own. From there, as is said, the rest is history. Migos have since dropped seven albums, including the Culture trilogy, and the three are now seen as possibly the most influential rap group of this generation.
Quavo’s Response To Takeoff’s Passing

Takeoff’s memorial, a large celebration of life, was held on November 11, 2022, at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena. Both Quavo and Offset spoke at the memorial, and Quavo shared his speech on Instagram. In Quavo’s post he wrote, “Dear Take, It’s so hard to tell you Ima miss you because you always with me and we did everything together. Since we were kids you been by my side lookin up at me, them eyes waiting on me to make the next move…then you followed up right behind me. You always made sure I did it first so you can do it right with me. You never competed with me, we were always on same team.” Quavo also shared many childhood pictures of Takeoff and mentioned their dream was to be tag team partners in the WWE.
Quavo also wrote, “Quietest in the room but paid attention to everything going on in the room. Always been like that!!! Nothing ever really bothered Take and he didn’t bother anybody. He the most unbothered person in the world.” In addition to this, Quavo wrote that Takeoff’s dream was always to become a rapper. “He never worried about titles, credit, or what man got the most shine, that wasn’t him. He didn’t care about none of that as along we brought it back home to the family!”
In Quavo’s speech at Takeoff’s memorial, he also gave insight into the two’s relationship and how they saw each other. Quavo wrote, “This whole time I’ve been trying to figure what you really are to me because nephew wasn’t it. We hated that word ‘nephew’ or when they said ‘Unc and Phew’ cuz we always knew we were way closer than that and it made me feel old too. But I knew you weren’t my brother cuz you are my sister’s son, so I couldn’t say brother.” He added, “Now I finally get it….you are OUR angel watching me and watching us this whole time in living form making sure EVERYONE FELT UR LOVE AND HUGS while u here and u made our dreams come true. Whenever u spoke it, it manifested it when u said ‘God gonna do it,’ he did it.”
Quavo ended his tribute to Takeoff with, “I love you with all my heart. I’ll never leave you…I guess God jus ain’t need my help. So can you ask Him for me what I gotta do to be with you again!!! In a place where there’s no pain, no demons, no jealousy, no envy, no greed. Whatever we have to do God to be at that place of paradise send us the tools now cuz we want be with Take. Love you nephew!”
With the release of Peacock’s original film Praise This just days away, the cast was treated to a red-carpet premiere. This included the film’s stars, Chloe Bailey and Quavo. Praise This follows Bailey as Sam, a wannabe superstar who joins an Atlanta-based competitive gospel choir ahead of a national competition. Praise This is the latest from Tina Gordon, the director behind films such as Peoples and Little. Gordon also wrote a similar film about an underdog team in a national competition, 2002’s Drumline. Praise This will release exclusively on Peacock on April 7.
At the premiere, Bailey posed with Quavo, who plays a character called Ty. Quavo’s appearance in the film reflects a shift towards acting for the former Migos member. Last year, Quavo appeared in the thriller Strange Salvation and has been linked to upcoming projects Takeover and Cash Out. Prior to his role in Strange Salvation, Quavo’s only film and TV credits were cameos in shows such as Atlanta. It is the latest role in a run of major projects for Bailey. She is also set to appear in the horror film The Georgetown Project, and star as the lead in the biopic Midas Touch.
Their work on Praise This, amongst other appearances, has led to numerous rumors that the pair are currently dating. While Bailey has denied these rumors, many fans remain unconvinced. This has led to further claims of a secret romance. These rumors are likely to be fanned further still if their characters in Praise This share some sort of romantic subplot. Trailers for the film seem to indicate that this is the case.
Dating rumors aside, Praise This will serve as a chance for both Bailey and Quavo to flex their acting muscles. It will also enable them to perform in more comedic roles. This is a contrast to the much more serious roles they have previously performed. Furthermore, with the likes of Bailey and Quavo involved, it seems to be a sure bet that if nothing else, Praise This is going to have some exceptional vocal performances.

Despite the hardships he faced over the past few months, Quavo had a big smile on his face during his birthday festivities. The de facto frontman of the Migos rang in his 32nd birthday this weekend, accompanied by his friends and family. Videos emerged of the rapper’s festivities over the weekend as he hung out with members of the Quality Control family. Quavo and his crew posted up on a yacht with a plethora of women, including Yung Miami, as well as members of the QCM crew.
Perhaps, the most surprising guest at Quavo’s birthday bash was Lil Baby. Over the past few years, fans speculated that things between the HUNCHO artist and the “Bigger Picture” rapper have been strained. However, neither of them appeared to address the rumors directly. In fact, Lil Baby denied that there were any issues between himself and the Migos. Still, fans quickly noticed how Lil Baby didn’t appear to be enthusiastic about the festivities.
While he got his celebration on during an exclusive bash with his close friends and associates, he treated fans to a new snippet of music.
