TDE is looking like they are going to be the most successful rap label in 2024. They have a massive lineup of artists that have albums coming for the remaining 10 months. Their list that made its way to social media had fans buzzing when the names were revealed. One of the many talents that was slated to drop an album was Ray Vaughn. He signed to TDE right near the beginning of the 2020 decade and is finally getting ready to drop his debut. To tease it, Ray Vaughn is teaming up with Pusha T for “Problems.”

If you follow Ray’s career, you would know that he has been releasing tracks since 2018. So, this year is a big one for him after all these years not dropping an album. Pusha T, Lola Brooke, Capella Grey, Flau’jae, and Wyclef Jean have all come togehter for an interesting single. The TIAA (Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association of America) is looking to spread the word about preparing for a financially safe future. According to a piece from HipHopDX, they want to spread information about their “Retire Inequality” initiative. Information from their website is quite staggering.

“54% of Black Americans don’t have enough savings to retire.” The way the TIAA plans on doing this is by helping the younger generation learn how to start building wealth sooner rather than later. The reason for this methodology is that “41% of young adults between 24-35 aren’t taking full advantage of employer-sponsored plans.” So, to help pass this message along, the TIAA reached out Wyclef Jean to make song.

Wyclef Jean, Pusha T, Lola Brooke, And Flau’jae Go From Rags To Riches On ‘Paper Right’

The “rags to riches” tale is a staple of hip-hop, so much so that on Wyclef Jean’s new song “Paper Right,” he’s able to recruit a whole posse cut worth of rappers to help him detail how to stack enough cash to retire a couple of generations. Interestingly, in addition to employing Pusha T, one of rap’s most notable street prophets-turned-business moguls, he also lends the spotlight to a trio of rising stars in Lola Brooke, Flau’jae Johnson, and singer Capella Grety.

The song is part of an outreach program by The Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association of America (TIAA) called Retire Inequality. According to the campaign’s website, its mission is to provide savings and investment information to Black Americans, who are likely to not have enough savings to retire. To that end, “Paper Right” references generational wealth multiple times, as well as investing advice, like real estate and side hustling; funnily enough, it might be the first time we’ve ever heard Pusha repudiate the drug game mentality that he’s espoused on basically every other thing he’s recorded (even those odd Arby’s jingles he did a couple of years ago).

Alleged Leaked Message Shows Pusha T Go Off on Kanye: ‘You Would Snitch on Me’

An alleged leaked text message shows Pusha T telling off Kanye West for a lack of support. The key message is, “I’ve held you down and u don’t appreciate me…”

According to HipHopDX, a Reddit user marks the text exchange for January 2022 and has some scatching messages from King Push.

“U let Drake disrespect you, your wife, and your family,” Pusha wrote. “That’s why u can’t get your wife to respect u.”

In another spot, King Push wrote, “Don’t blame me, Kanye. I would never shoot anybody for you, you would snitch on me.” He closed with, “I’ve held you down and u don’t appreciate me.”

At the end of 2022, Pusha T‘s time as the President and a member of G.O.O.D. Music ended. Speaking with XXL, King Push revealed that he decided to distance himself from Ye following his anti-semitic rants and remarks.

“If you ain’t with it, you ain’t down. And I ain’t with it. I’m not budging on that. I’m not with it. I heard about this new stuff [on InfoWars]. I don’t know. It’s something that just sort of tells me he’s not well, at the same time. I will say that. It’s going to places where it’s no way to move around it.”

Pusha T stated he hasn’t spoken to Ye recently, citing that their last conversation was when he was on tour.

“I just expressed myself. I express myself to him a lot. He expressed his thoughts to me. And he got off the phone saying, ‘Thank you. I know you don’t agree with me, but you never kill me in the public. And some people can’t wait to do that.’”

Pusha T confirmed that he is still with Def Jam, engaged in a 50/50 venture with the label for his releases and his Heir Wave Music Group label.

No Malice Hopes Clipse Can Collaborate With Coldplay And The Killers

Clipse is officially back in action and the duo of Pusha T and his brother No Malice are ready to talk about the future of their legendary rap group. In a new interview with GOAT Mag the two talk about where Clipse may go next and they don’t exactly agree. Malice was asked about collaborations and quickly delivered the kind of answer you’d expect. “As far as Hip Hop goes, the highwater mark is always collaborating with JAY-Z, so I would like that,” he said. But he followed up on that thought with a surprising addition.

No Malice put his major ambitions on display answering what non-rap artists he might want to work with. “Outside of Hip Hop, I would like to see Clipse with artists like Coldplay and The Killers, with big arena records, festivals, something that moves globally,” he said. Pusha T had a different response, seeming to be over collaborations entirely. “Man. I don’t know. I’m collab’d out. I don’t even care about collaborations if it’s not among a great body of work. I’m into cohesive, great bodies of work. I feel like, in these times, with everybody feeling so fly-by-night, that’s the only thing that’s keeping this genre alive,” Pusha T remarked.

Today in Hip Hop History: Clipse Released Their Second LP ‘Hell Hath No Fury’ 17 Years Ago

On this day in 2006, Virginia Beach’s own Clipse released the sophomore LP Hell Hath No Fury. Coming a whole four years after their celebrated, chart-topping debut Lord Willin’, Hell Hath No Fury did everything but disappoint. Produced exclusively by fellow Virginia Beach natives, The Neptunes, this album builds on Clipse’s unique take on mafioso rap culture. The contrast of the album’s hardcore, to-the-point lyrics and Pharrell’s colorfully playful production work to create a new style of drug dealer music.

It’s common knowledge that the hurdles set up in the way of this album’s release were aplenty. Clipse’s early growth led to them being pulled in all directions and, in an interview with Bill Withers, they spoke on how the music industry itself can paralyze an artist, and how that halted their creativity. Nevertheless, the duo came back stronger than ever, delivering an album that set a precedent in east coast rap. During the early 2000s, Virginia was on the rise with artists like The Neptunes and Timberland dominating the production game and Missy Elliot and Ginuwine topping charts. With this album, Clipse was able to keep Virginia relevant as it moved past the halfway point of the decade.

Although the album was not as commercially successful as Lord Willin’, it did peak at #14 on the Billboard 200 and #2 on the Top R&B/Hip Hop albums. The LP sold 78,000 in its first week and produced two singles, “Mr. Me Too” featuring Pharrell and “Wamp Wamp (What It Do)” that both had some success on the R&B/Hip Hop charts.

Drake & Pusha T’s Beef: A Timeline Of Disses

Drake dropped his new album, Scary Hours 3, today — leaving fans wondering if he had thrown any new shots toward Pusha T, as the two have had a documented feud that spans over a decade.

Things don’t seem to have died down and Drake does, quoting one of Pusha’s former diss tracks toward him on his new song, “Wick Man.”

Here’s a timeline of the disses that have happened between the two rappers, for those who might need a refresher.

Back in 2012, Pusha T dissed Drake on his song “Exodus 23:1,” with the latter offering a response on “Tuscan Leather” the next year.

However, things didn’t end there. In 2016, Pusha used “HGTV Freestyle” to accuse Drake of using a ghostwriter on his songs.

By 2018, things seemed to reach a peak when it comes to tension between the two. Not even 24 hours after Pusha dropped his Daytona album, Drake put out a “Duppy Freestyle” to point out that his nemesis’ career is faded.

“I had a microphone of yours, but then the signature faded / I think that pretty much resembles what’s been happenin’ lately,” Drake said.

Pusha quickly snapped back by revealing that Drake had a son and dubbed him a “deadbeat” on “The Story Of Adidon.”

Later that year, Drake and Pusha T both do separate interview appearances where they discuss the reveal of Drake’s kid. By the end of 2019, Drake also sat down with Rap Radar, where he called his feud with Pusha his “first loss in the competitive sport of rapping.”

Even with Drake seemingly admitting defeat, he and Pusha T keep throwing musical jabs at one another — so it’s not likely to stop any time soon.
