Jack Harlow Received Some Pretty High Praise From Kendrick Lamar

Jack Harlow’s latest album, Jackman, has garnered praise from fellow musicians. The list of those who have said kind words about the album is long, and it now includes Kendrick Lamar. Jack Harlow stopped by to speak to the Rap Radar podcast about the new album. During the episode, released on June 15, Harlow shared that the recognition from his musical peers helped him overcome frustrations from his critics. Many of them had accused him of cultural appropriation or being a “culture vulture.” However, Harlow simply emphasized the importance of being a fan of the genre and having a passion for the craft. The rapper expressed excitement about recording the songs and the anticipation of how they would be received.

Jack Harlow also spoke about meeting Kendrick Lamar at the Met. He recalled the encounter with Kendrick in the interview, revealing that the rapper praised his album. According to Harlow, that praise alone gave him enough recognition to make him feel validated. He went on to express his gratitude and satisfaction. Harlow even said that he didn’t feel the need to meet anyone else after receiving Kendrick’s approval. You can check out the full interview below.

Ludacris Joins In Praising Jack Harlow’s Skills

Jack Harlow received flowers from another icon in the industry. Ludacris also showed support for Jack Harlow by giving him his official co-sign for his song “First Class.” The hit famously samples Fergie’s track “Glamorous” from 2007, which featured Luda. The icon acknowledged the perspective of hip-hop purists but commended Harlow for doing justice to the sample. He stated that he liked the record and appreciated the new generation connecting with the song. Ludacris also emphasized the importance of embracing new music even if it may not be everyone’s personal preference.

“How can I not be okay with it? I’m doing shows, and there’s a whole new generation that is identifying with the record, even if they haven’t heard my verse, simply because Jack Harlow is doing it over,” Luda said. “I feel like he did it justice. It would be different if it was a poor rendition, but it’s not. Jack Harlow did it exceptionally well, and I enjoy the record.” What do you think of the praise Harlow has been receiving? Do you agree? Let us know in the comments below!

Kendrick Lamar & J. Cole Praised By Big Daddy Kane For Being “True To Lyricism”

It’s always great to see the old guard compliment the new, especially these days when hip-hop seems more splintered than ever. However, rappers like the legendary Big Daddy Kane are here to remind us that there are still traditions and skills that have endured throughout the years. During an interview with AllHipHop on Saturday (June 10), the Juice Crew MC spoke on the evolution of lyricism. Specifically, he spoke on Paragraphs I Manifest, his upcoming Netflix documentary that will apparently center around similar topics. His breakdown included shoutouts to not just Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole, but also to the Griselda camp and Lady London.

“When you look at the era of the Melle Mel, Grandmaster Caz and Kool Moe Dee and then you see how it evolved and became Rakim and KRS-One, and then you see how it evolved again in the era of Nas, Biggie and Jay-Z, from a lyrical standpoint, you want to see it keep evolving,” Big Daddy Kane shared. “By the time the ’90s came around, hip-hop had become so commercial, that it was more important about having commercial songs and something more simplistic.

“A lot of the artists that came after that, their mindset wasn’t really on being lyrical, it was on writing catchy songs,” he continued. “That’s really where their mindset was. So when you see people like J. Cole, Benny The Butcher, Conway The Machine, Kendrick Lamar and Lady London, I have a special respect for that because they’re true to lyricism.” Of course, this is far from the first time that Big Daddy Kane praised these MCs in particular for their talents.

J. Cole is my hero,” he expressed earlier this year. “That’s my dude right there. J. Cole is my hero. I love Kendrick as well. Rhapsody, Lady London. Lady London is a monster. She is incredible.” What’s more is that rappers like Cole are able to bring that sensibility to even the most mainstream of rap trends and sounds of the moment. His recent Lil Durk collab, “All My Life,” has been one of the most praised rap tracks of the year so far. Meanwhile, Kendrick keeps wowing audiences of every fandom with every huge festival he headlines. For the latest news and updates on Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, and Big Daddy Kane, stay up to date on HNHH.

Boosie Badazz Calls Bobby Shmurda “One Of The Realest” Young Rappers

During a recent appearance on the Whoos House podcast, Boosie Badazz gave praise to Bobby Shmurda. He suggested that Shmurda’s six years of prison time ought to be “saluted,” claiming that he has more to show for his lifestyle than some of his peers. Boosie had previously shown his respect for Shmurda’s refusal to “snitch” amid his charges. “SOLID AS A ROCK!!” he said in 2019. “It’s a shame how the world don’t glorify the REAL ONES SMH. Rats get mo love then the stand up guys.” Shmurda served time for conspiracy to possess weapons and possession of a weapon.

Shmurda recently appeared on The Danza project podcast, where he discussed the influence of rap on the younger generation. “These kids are following you guys, and you’re rapping about these f*cking lifestyles…and it’s very dangerous to the communities [because] these little kids [really] think that [it’s] going on, and you did not even live [any] [of] [it],” he explained. The artist went on to say, “Rap is supposed to be telling motherf*ckers to go from negative to positive, coming from poverty to go to riches…and how to stay in that and how to change. That’s the sh*t that I want to hear. I wanna hear about living life…”

Boosie shared his own message to the younger generation last month. “Never become no street n***a,” he told his fans. “Don’t ever become no gangster, bro. Always gotta have n***as with you, always gotta be trying to protect yourself, looking over your shoulder. S**t don’t even be worth it, bro.” He went on to say, “You get older you be like, ‘Damn, man.’ Lotta s**t come with this s**t. It’s the only thing that matter, bruh, staying alive. This ain’t the life you want, though, dog. All y’all young n***as out there, this ain’t the life you want.”

Last year, Shmurda took to Instagram to share his thoughts on rappers playing “dress-up” with their lifestyles. “I don’t want to be named as a rapper no more, bro,” he explained. “It’s like when you do that rapper sh*t, n****s like try to come for that light. It’s just nasty like these labels is nasty. Look at what they just did to Tory [Lanez]. That sh*t is nasty, my n***a.” He continues, “Then the whole rap community that’s f*cking supporting these n****s. Y’all n****s is disgusting my n***a, cause these the same people that come from saying that they live our lifestyle, they came from our lifestyle. These motherf*ckers is out here playing dress up right now.”

J. Cole’s “All My Life” Verse Impresses Jermaine Dupri

Jermaine Dupri took to Twitter recently, sharing his thoughts on J. Cole’s “All My Life” verse. He wrote to his followers, “Yo!!! J. Cole verse is so in the pocket on this ‘All My Life.’” Dupri also added, “I can never listen to another offbeat rapper, bible!!!” It seems as thought many would agree with Dupri’s assessment, with others such as 21 Savage recently claiming they enjoyed his work on the song as well. 21 Savage wrote about the collaboration on Twitter, saying, “Cole just went so crazy on that verse wtf.”

“All My Life” was released earlier this month, and was instantly met with praise from fans and peers. After previewing the song on May 3, many listeners felt as though the song would be a huge hit. Durk shared his intentions behind the song, telling XXL, “It’s just a rap that’s just showing you what I been going through. What I been doing lately. Trying to change how I am.” Lil Durk also shared his thoughts on Cole’s verse on his track. “He went crazy. I had to listen to it like four times,” he explained.

Durk continued, “You know I ain’t super big on lyricist-type rappers. Cole was one of them ones that, like, him and [JAY-Z], you gotta play them 50 times to catch what they’re saying.” He added, “Like, if you listen to Lil Wayne right now and you heard some shit 10 years ago that you just catch onto today. But [Cole] definitely gave me one of them verses and I appreciate it. ‘Cause he ain’t even have to, for real. He could’ve given us anything.” Durk caught some flack for his comments, with one user writing, “He’s not super big on lyrics, Lyrical Rappers……Then what is my generation of rappers doing on songs smh.” “I like Dirk’s music but cmon bro. I don’t understand why my generation doesn’t the core of what hip hop is and what is used to stand for,” they added.

His label shared the news in an Instagram post earlier this month. Kai Cenat Wants To Speak On Nicki Minaj’s “Queen Radio” After Twitch Ban

Nicki Minaj is perhaps best known for getting into heated blowouts with enemies on social media. Still, the Queen of Rap is also known to give out flowers to those who deserve it too. Earlier this month, she did just that to streamer Kai Cenat, who was unfortunately banned on Twitch for “stimulated sexual activity” while playing GTA RP during one of his shows, something that others have faced similar punishment for in the past. While it’s certainly frustrating for one of the platform’s biggest names to be unable to create content for his fans, it helped him get the attention of Minaj, who’s expressed interest in working with him.

“I’m gonna get cute. I’m gonna dress up nice and cute and I’m gonna go on Live with him,” she told listeners on Queen Radio recently. “And speak to him if that’s cool with him. Let me reach out to him and stuff because I really like him. I really like him a lot.” Elsewhere in her broadcast, Minaj publicly pleaded with Twitch to remove Cenat’s ban, which was finally lifted earlier this week.

Kai Cenat Thanks Nicki Minaj for Speaking Out Amid Twitch Ban

Now that the 21-year-old is back doing what he loves, he took a moment to respond to the “Super Freaky Girl” hitmaker’s kind words and request to collaborate. “Auntie Nicki, I see what you said,” he exclaimed during one of his first shows back on the air. “Nicki Minaj said, ‘Why would y’all do that to that boy? Why would y’all ban him?’ She said she gotta get all nice and cute to come on a stream, but Twitch, hold on! This is chess, not checkers. Should I give y’all a big stream like that?” Cenat openly pondered.

“Should I let the Queen come on y’all platform? I’ll go to Queen Radio! If I’m invited, if they want to do anything,” he quietly added. “I’ll just talk to her, one-on-one, audio only.” Would you tune into a Nicki Minaj and Kai Cenat live stream? Blac Chyna Shows Tokyo Toni Some Love After She Praises Her Parenting

Blac Chyna’s relationship with mother Tokyo Toni proved very difficult over the last few years, but after the latter praised the former’s parenting, it seems like they might be on their way to healing together. Moreover, Chyna, who now wants to go by her real name Angela White, posted a loving message for Toni on Instagram. Furthermore, it came after her mother shared a clip of her talking about how good of a mom Chyna is. They each wrote simple but effective messages on their social media platforms. To elaborate, Tokyo was answering a question about whether she’s worried about her children.

“No,” she answered in the interview snippet. “I never worry about that because Chyna’s a good mom. She’s a good mom. She’s going to take care of her kids with her last breath.” Not only that, but the clip included some pics of the model with one of her kids to sell the point. In addition, her mother captioned the clip on her Instagram Story with, “Love You Chy, Your The Goat,” and tagged her daughter. In her response on a Story post of her own, White wrote, “Thank you mama I love you so much.” While it’s not the first time they’ve reconciled after fighting, hopefully it’s the last.

Tokyo Toni Praises Blac Chyna’s Parenting

Moreover, this comes after weeks of Toni previously dragging Chyna, which led the latter to block her mother. “It’s definitely something there,” the 34-year-old expressed. “I feel like we’ve tried to work out things and whatnot. Only thing I can do as a daughter is honestly just love her cause she’s still my mom at the very end of the day. And I still love her to now, even sitting right here now. And I don’t take things so much to the heart because you just never know what the next person is going through.” In fact, Toni even responded negatively to people praising Chyna’s recent lifestyle changes.

Meanwhile, she previously called her child a “demon” and went off against her and her family. “People that hate you, wanna see you do bad,” she said in an IG Live session. “Just whatever, just weirdos. These demons, though. Man, to know your f***ing kid is a demon? She a demon. And I still be helping this b***h. When am I gon’ chill, bro? This b***h gon’ be the death of you. I gotta let her go.” Fortunately, it seems like things have gotten better for the two. For the latest on Blac Chyna, now Angela White, and Tokyo Toni, stay logged into HNHH for more updates.

Drake Responds To Jim Jones’ Massive Praise

Drake responded to Jim Jones’ recent praise of the Toronto rapper on his Instagram Story, over the weekend. In doing so, he shared a picture of Jim Jones as well as a photo of himself dressed as Jim Jones’ Dipset partner, Cam’ron. Earlier in the week, Jones crowned Drake the greatest rapper of all time during an interview with Complex.

While praising Drake, Jim Jones also brought up Jay-Z as an option for the title, but argued that he “exited music a long time ago.” Drake, on the other hand, is “still going strong to this day.” The comments come after Drake invited Jim Jones and the rest of The Dipolmats to perform at his concert from The Apollo Theater in Harlem, New York, earlier this year.

“I would say he’s the greatest of all time,” Jim Jones told Complex. “I would just give that to him. And I mean, there’s a lot of people from the beginning and people that invented Hip Hop, I know. But the greatest of all time, it’s a big statement, and the relevancy that he keeps showing year after year, hit after hit, record after record. Any song that he has put out has seemed to go multiple platinum. That’s never happened before in history.”

He continued: “I mean, there are a few other people that do astronomical numbers like that, but he really in it, you know what I mean? From all angles of music. It ain’t no place you go where they’re not going to play some Drake records to get the party started. He moves around here like the real Bruce Wayne. He’s my spirit animal, man. I just got to give credit where credit is due, and not taking away from nobody else.”

Royce Da 5’9″ Labels Tyler, The Creator “One Of The Greatest”

Royce Da 5’9″ remarked that Tyler, The Creator is “one of the greatest” during a recent post on Instagram. The two met up at DJ Drama‘s private listening event for his forthcoming album I’m Really Like That. Drama held the event in Los Angeles on Saturday, prior to the 65th Annual Grammy Awards.

“Me telling @feliciathegoat He’s officially one of the Greatest, in my humble opinion,” Royce captioned a photo of himself with the Odd Future founder. Tyler commented on the post: “thanks for the kind words man.”

While Royce and Tyler have yet to work together, the two previously crossed paths after the release of Eminem’s compilation album Shady XV in 2014. At the time, Tyler labeled the project “fucking ASS.” Royce provided a defense of Tyler being entitled to his own opinion, despite the insult to his Bad Meets Evil partner.

“I don’t really have much of a take on it,” Royce Da 5’9″ told Vlad TV at the time, before continuing, “What can you say? He said his opinion. It’s the kid’s opinion and what am I gonna do? Get mad at him? We’re living in that era now, man. That’s like I go over to a girl house that I’m trying to smash and her little kid [or] little baby brother is in there and he’s like, ‘You smell like marijuana!’ And everybody laugh because it’s the little kid and he’s saying something crazy. And everybody cares because it’s the little kid with the voice. That’s kind of how it is, man. I don’t care, man. What am I gon’ do about that?”

He later recalled meeting Tyler, explaining that he wasn’t offended by what he had to say. “The last time I seen Tyler The Creator, those guys were running around the dressing room with fucking capes and shit on… It just felt like we were in the room with some fun kids,” Royce further said. “And that’s really how I look at them. I’m not about to start getting offended by everything he said or anything like that. If the kid got his opinion, he got his opinion. It’s just what it is.” Check out Royce Da 5’9″’s post for Tyler, The Creator below.

N.O.R.E. Compares Symba To Nas: “You’re My Favorite Artist Right Now”

N.O.R.E. recently labeled Symba his “favorite artist” and even compared him to the legendary rapper Nas. In a video posted by Symba, the Drink Champs host showers him with praise during a trip to Oakland over the weekend.

N.O.R.E. began by praising Symba for calling out Funk Flex on his own Hot 97 radio show for disrespecting 2Pac over the years.

“The best artist — not West Coast, not East Coast — is my bro right here,” N.O.R.E. said while embracing Symba. “That man came to New York and looked at Funk Flex in his eye and said, ‘You gon’ stop this shit!’ And Flex stopped it from right then and there, and I respected it.”

From there, N.O.R.E. reflected on the release of his own 1999 album, Melvin Flynt – Da Hustler. He explained that he took inspiration from a trip he made to Fillmore Street in San Francisco.

“Yo, you a real one, my n***a,” he further added. “I’m a Yay Area n***a, I just want y’all to know. The reason why I made the whole Melvin Flynt is Fillmore Street. I went to Fillmore Street and I thought I was a pimp, but I ain’t have shit. The citch chose me and I ain’t even wanna be chosen! I was like, ‘What the fuck?’”

“I’m out here in Oakland, but it’s not because Oakland is one of my favorite places on the West Coast, it’s because you’re my favorite artist right now,” he said. “Nah, for real. You’re like Nas to me.”

Check out N.O.R.E.’s comments as shared on Instagram by Symba below.
