Six Flags Georgia Shooting: What We Know

Six Flags Georgia is normally home to several fun family-friendly activities, rides, and stage shows, with thousands of patrons flocking to the Austell destination each year. Unfortunately, the theme park was home to a violent incident last weekend, which left one teenager injured in a gunfight with the police. Details about the disturbing event are gradually emerging to the public, leaving many park patrons shaken by the traumatic situation. Here’s everything we know about the Six Flags Georgia shooting so far.

The Incident Began With A Massive Brawl

NEWS | A 15 year old boy is in critical condition after being shot by a police officer outside of Six Flags Over Georgia. Police say Cobb County officers were called to help park security after a “sizable unruly crowd” of 500-600 people started running through the park and fighting. Officers then followed the crowd out of the park onto a service road where an unknown amount of people started firing at the officers, and the officers fired back hitting that teen. Others reportedly fled into the woods. Six Flags said in part it’s incredibly disappointing that our community is disrupted at public events by underaged youth and that people who aren’t willing to follow their code of conduct isn’t welcome. The incident happened on the first day of Six Flag’s 2024 season. #greenscreenvideo #sixflags #sixflagsovergeorgia #whathappened #news #topnews #headlines #breakingnews

According to reports, hundreds of unruly teens turned up at the Six Flags Georgia opening night event. Apparently, youths in numbers of over 500 broke into a massive free-for-all altercation at the park, instilling panic in the other guests and prompting security to call in the local police department for assistance. The droves of teenagers were simply too much for the Six Flags security to handle, creating an untenable situation throughout the entire park, spilling out onto the nearby service road.

According to police, several teens began discharging firearms at responding officers once they arrived at the service road just outside the park grounds, prompting a gunfight that left one of the brawlers with a gunshot injury. Police later identified the victim as 15-year-old Seyer Littlefield. Littlefield was first reported to have been in critical condition after the officer-involved shooting, though the latest reports state his injuries were only minor.

Social Media Posts Indicate The Brawl Was Premeditated

Unfortunately, a number of social media posts from before the shooting incident at Six Flags Over Georgia seem to indicate that a myriad of the youths who engaged in violence at the park had planned the brawl in advance. While circumstances may have drawn many young patrons into the brawl, others intentionally attended the opening day with the aim of starting fights. This is not an isolated incident either, as teenagers previously engaged in brawls at the theme park during last year’s opening weekend, sparking an alarming trend for employees and patrons of Six Flags alike.

Some Atlanta residents even claim that they attempted to reach out to Fulton County police in advance of opening night specifically to warn authorities to prepare for violent outbursts due to warning signs they saw shared around social media sites such as TikTok and Instagram. When asked for a comment regarding the violence, a spokesman for Six Flags Over Georgia stated, “It is incredibly disappointing that our community is disrupted at public events throughout the region by groups of underaged youth… We won’t put up with that type of activity here.”

Police Are Still Investigating The Officer-Involved Shooting

Surprisingly, authorities discovered that Seyer Littlefield had fallen victim to a drive-by shooting on February 17 before the Six Flags Georgia incident. While there seems to be no direct link between the drive-by and the Six Flags brawl, it seems clear that youth violence in the Atlanta area has reached something of a fever pitch in recent months. Fulton County police are still working closely with Cobb County police to determine the specifics of the officer-involved shooting to ensure that all police conduct was above board. Per reports, the 15-year-old had a gun in his possession, in clear violation of Georgia’s Possession of a Firearm Under 18 law. Upon Littlefield’s release from the hospital, authorities anticipate taking him into police custody.

Protests Continue Across France Over Murdered Teen

President Emmanuel Macron has canceled a state visit to Germany as protests continue across France. The protests are in response to the killing of Nahel M., a 17-year-old delivery driver. Nahel was shot and killed by police in Nanterre, a suburb 6.8 miles northwest of the center of Paris. While police claim the officers responded with deadly force due to a direct threat to their lives, this has been disputed. Lawyers for the family of Nahel released a video showing officers firing at Nael’s car as it drove away after a traffic stop. The officer deemed to have fired the fatal shot has been detained on a manslaughter charge.

Just the latest in a series of increasingly common police killings in France, thousands have taken to the streets across the country. It’s the second major civil action undertaken by the nation’s citizens this year. Starting in January, thousands have engaged in a work stoppage and protest action over changes to the country’s pension scheme. However, the protests of the killing of Nahel have drawn comparisons to similar protests in 2005. That action was undertaken after two teenagers were electrocuted to death while hiding from police in a power substation.

Macron, France’s increasingly embattled President, chose not to go through with a trip to Germany as the protests entered their fifth day. It would have been the first state visit to Germany by a French President in 23 years. Per the Ministry of the Interior, over 2400 people have been arrested during the protests. 1311 of these individuals were arrested on Friday night alone, with Macron urging parents to keep their children at home.

Meanwhile, Nahel was laid to rest in a hilltop cemetery in Nanterre. With the media kept out, hundreds lined the streets to pay their respects. After prayers were held at a local mosque, someone attempt to enforce androcentric Muslim funeral traditions at the gates of the ceremony. However, Nahel’s mother defied him, earning a round of applause from onlookers. Meanwhile, the protests continue to spread. In French Guinea, protests turned violent after a 54-year-old was killed by a stray bullet. Meanwhile, prosecutors begin to build a case against the accused police officer. This is a developing story and we’ll have any updates here at HotNewHipHop.

BLM Co-Founder Patrisse Cullors Claims LAPD Killed Her Cousin

She helped spark a movement that would change activism, but Patrisse Cullors has also faced many controversies. The co-founder of the Black Lives Matter organization has been at the center of allegations of misappropriating millions in donations. The foundation should not be conflated with the movement.

Cullors has long denied any illegal activity, but this week, she makes headlines for a separate issue. According to the author, her cousin, Kennan Anderson, died due to the Los Angeles Police Department following a traffic collision in Venice, Calif.

Reports state Anderson was a 31-year-old English teacher with a six-year-old son. Investigators claim when police stopped to check on the collision, Anderson was acting erratically and running in the middle of the street. Police also reportedly spoke with him and asserted he seemed cooperative. However, once more police vehicles arrived, Anderson was said to have tried to flee the scene. This led to a chase.

Officers struggled with Anderson for several minutes, utilizing a TASER, bodyweight, firm grips, and joint locks to overcome his resistance,” LAPD said in the statement. “Anderson was subsequently handcuffed and hobbled at the ankles.”

The teacher was later taken to a hospital to treat his injuries and, while there, died after suffering cardiac arrest.
