Freddie Gibbs Reaches Peak Paranoia In “Zipper Bagz” Music Video

Ever since the release of Bandana, Freddie Gibbs has been coming through with incredibly cinematic visuals. It shouldn’t be as surprising, especially as he gets deeper into his acting bag. In September, the rapper delivered his highly anticipated major label debut, $oul $old $eparately in its entirety. Though the rapper kept rather lowkey until the end of the year, he continues to make major moves, such as his appearance on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon with Anderson .Paak where they performed “Blackest In The Room” and “Feel No Pain.”

Though he hasn’t unloaded many visuals from his latest project, each of the visuals from $$$ has showcased Freddie’s depth as an artist, from his proficiencies as a rapper to his range as an actor. The visual for “Space Rabbit” found Freddie Gibbs on a hilarious trip to a casino where he finds an actual bunny and goes on a debaucherous journey where they crash a wedding, among other things.

Freddie Gibbs Traps Out The Motel In “Zipper Bagz” Music Video

One of the immediate highlights of Freddie Gibbs’ latest body of work is the Kaytranada-produced “Zipper Bagz.” This week, the rapper came through with a stunning new video for the song, which finds him trying to dodge death. The video opens up with a voiceover of a man speaking in Spanish, threatening Gibbs’ life over a significant amount of money. Throughout the visual, the rapper posts in a motel with packs where he peaks through the window and tries not to get killed.

His recent music video is just a brief glimpse into Gibbs’ acting chops. The Gary, IN rapper made his acting debut a few years ago with Down With The King, where he takes on the role of disgruntled rapper Money Merc. The role earned him the title of “Best Actor” from the New York Times, though he also showcased his abilities in Bust Down and later, in 50 Cent’s Power Book IV: Force. While acting might be a priority in his career, he also revealed that he has a few musical projects in the works. Keep your eyes peeled for that.

The footage of Jeezy aligns with the part of the song where Gibbs expressed regret for their long-standing feud.

“Me and Jeezy still ain’t spoke in years, but I got love for him/ Could’ve talked it out, but I spoke out, I let it get to me,” Gibbs raps on the song. “Showed me I could be a fuckin’ boss, best thing he did for me/ I needed to grow, too immature, it’s shit I needed to know.”

Later on, Gibbs revealed that he and Jeezy did, in fact, run into each other at an airport where he apologized and hug.

“Alchemist & Madlib ain’t goin’ nowhere, keep that in mind. Me and Boi-1da in the studio now, real heavy,” he said. “I’m making the best music of my life, so it’s no reason to stop. And I’m the king of R&B, so I gotta do that [too].”

Freddie Gibbs & Pusha T Pen A Cocaine Novella On “Gold Rings”

The wait is finally over. Freddie Gibbs came through with a potential AOTY contender this morning. Following weeks of anticipation with singles like “Too Much” and “Dark Hearted,” the Gary, IN native came through with $oul $old $eparately in its entirety. The new album from Kane boasts 15 songs with a few familiar faces including Pusha T.

Sevn Thomas, Sean Momberger, and Jahaan Sweet bring opulent harp strings for Freddie Gibbs and Pusha T’s latest collab, “Gold Rings.” As you’d expect, “Gold Rings” is a lyrically potent banger that finds the two heavyweight MCs trading cocaine tales. Gibbs kicks off the record, detailing love and heartbreak through the POV of the coke trade before Pusha T leaps into his verse that he describes as his “cocaine novella.”

The two rappers certainly don’t disappoint in their latest collaboration. They previously connected on Bandana highlight, “Palmolive” alongside Killer Mike. That one song sparked demand for a joint project between Gibbs and Push. Neither have shut the door on the possibilities but it seems more likely that we get the long-awaited Pusha T x Madlib album before a joint project with Freddie Gibbs.

I’m the street dream, Nas with the cummerbund
Jury Supreme Team, anchors is done and hung
The dope floats on a boat, now come give the drummer some
They going for thirty-three, I just let the numbers run
The king of the kilo, I don’t believe none of ’em except Gibbs
