“Stranger Things” Star Noah Schnapp Comes Out As Gay

Another celebrity’s sexuality has become the talk of Hollywood now that Noah Schnapp has made a revelation. The Stranger Things star has been under a microscope as he amassed child fame thanks to the Netflix series. As Hollywood often does, there were talks that Schnapp may have had a teen crush on his co-star Millie Bobby Brown. According to Schnapp, he’s gay.

The 18-year-old actor uploaded a playful TikTok where he shared the news with the world.

Schnapp participated in a social media trend where people spoke about huge life events that ended up not being as big of a deal to their loved ones.

“When I finally told my friends and family I was gay after being scared in the closet for 18 years,” he wrote in his video. “And all they said was ‘we know.’”

For some, this doesn’t come as a surprise. There were rumors that Schnapp’s Stranger Things character, Will Byers, was gay and in love with his friend, Mike Wheeler. Although this was initially introduced as a fan theory, Schnapp confirmed that was the case.

“Now that he’s gotten older, they made it a very real, obvious thing. Now it’s 100% clear that he is gay, and he does love Mike,” he previously said about his character.

“But before, it was a slow arc. I think it is done so beautifully, because it’s so easy to make a character just like all of a sudden be gay.”

Noah Schnapp Still Has Love For Doja Cat After Their Interaction: ‘I’m Like The Biggest Fan Of Her Music’

By now, everyone’s sick of hearing about Doja Cat’s interaction with Noah Schnapp, including the stars themselves. While the idea of Doja contacting the 17-year-old Stranger Things actor for his co-star Joseph Quinn’s info has been polarizing, Schnapp revealed to Variety that the two have since made up since their squabble.

“I’m super unserious on social media and pretty goofy,” Schnapp said, “so I posted that not thinking too much of it, but obviously it hurt her feelings. So, as I should, I apologized and she was totally okay with it, and was like, ‘I’m sorry how I reacted.’ It was all good. I love her. I’m like the biggest fan of her music, and I told her that. I was like, you’re literally my role model. It’s all good. People make such a big deal out of everything when it’s on the internet, but, like, in reality, it’s like a two-minute thing.”

Doja has kept fairly quiet on social media since Schnapp shared screenshots of the conversation, however, not before calling him out on Instagram Live, saying, “That’s like borderline snake sh*t. That’s like weasel sh*t. I’m not saying that encapsulates his entire personality. I wouldn’t imagine he is. Maybe he is, like, a whole snake. But I didn’t see him that way. I made an assumption that he was gonna be chill about it and he went and shared information that I didn’t feel comfortable with him sharing.”

Stranger Things will return for a fifth and final season at a yet-to-be-specified date.

Why Do Some People Care So Much About Doja Cat DMing Noah Schnapp For Joseph Quinn’s Contact Info?

Today, Stranger Things actor Noah Schnapp confirmed in an interview with Variety that his character on the show, Will Byers, is canonically gay and in love with his best friend, Mike Wheeler, who’s played by Finn Wolfhard. Exactly no one was surprised. If you say you are, you’re in worse denial than Alexander the Great (ba-dum-tss). But I can’t help but suspect that the timing is a little… too convenient. After all, Schapp has spent the last week on Twitter’s trending topics for another awkward romantic entanglement, and something like this seems like just the tidbit to get everybody to stop talking about that.

Unfortunately for Noah, he’s failed because I was already working on this essay and I’ll be damned if I have to delete a draft because someone out there in the Stranger Things audience can’t read a blinking, bright red sign three feet in front of their faces. The other failed love connection to which I refer is, of course, the somehow controversial DM from Doja Cat to Schnapp asking him to throw her a lob to Joseph Quinn, who plays metalhead rebel Eddie Munson in the show’s recently debuted fourth season. If, for some reason, you have been kept enviably out of the loop for the past week, here’s a recap:

Last week, Schnapp posted an amusing TikTok about his encounter with the “Kiss Me More” singer, sharing a screenshot of their DM conversation in which Doja asks him to tell Quinn to “hmu.” When Noah advises Doja Cat to DM Joseph directly, she asks for just a tad more help, since she can’t seem to find him online. Noah obliges, directing her to Joe’s Instagram. All’s well that ends well, right? Well, it seems Doja Cat took issue with Noah sharing the screenshot, calling his video “socially unaware and wack” during an Instagram Live a couple of days later.

Maybe Doja felt embarrassed, or maybe she just wanted the kid to reconsider sharing screenshots of private conversations without permission — a concept much of the internet has had trouble grasping in recent years, to be fair. She did preface her statement by allowing that Schnapp is just 17 years old and therefore prone to missteps, but despite her asking folks to “be chill about it,” this is, again, the internet we’re talking about here. It didn’t take long for the Twitter Hot Take Machine to decide that Doja was the villain in this story and spent a few days castigating Doja for DMing a 17-year-old in the first place, resulting in the loss (supposedly) of 200,000 followers, and an apology from Noah Schnapp himself.

And now, here’s my hot take:

Absolutely no one should care about any of this. To be blunt, Doja Cat’s romantic life is no one’s business but hers unless she says otherwise (hence, her reaction to Noah sharing that screenshot). But once the thing was out there, it could have and should have just remained a funny story confined to a slow news day’s blog posts and perhaps maybe a quirky story for Doja and/or Noah and/or Joseph to share at parties. Instead, it’s become a referendum on … something. To be fair, in cases of outsized backlashes like this one, you can usually backtrace the inception to pop music stans and their endless, petty power games about whose fave is the best.

And Doja Cat has certainly put herself in those crosshairs before. It’s a rule of the internet that once you’ve had one manufactured Twitter scandal, you are certain to accumulate more for as long as you remain famous enough to have stans (and stans who hate your stans. It’s a whole headache, to be honest). She could have ducked this whole situation entirely had she just done the same thing she did in the first place and contacted Schnapp privately about the breach of etiquette. But, honestly, people, let’s all just relax. We live in a very online society that grows increasingly online by the day. DMing one person to get another person’s info is probably a thing that happens quite a bit, we just don’t hear about it because those people aren’t famous (and nobody shares the screenshots).

We don’t have to have opinions on everything, and certainly not on some celebrity’s misfired attempt to get their crush. There are far more important things going on in the world right now (to wit: A growing housing crisis, cripplingly rising inflation, a baby formula shortage, shortages of dozens of other products as supply chains continue to be interrupted, the looming end of bodily autonomy in the US, and oh yeah, that pandemic that still hasn’t fully gone away). Maybe I’m just an old man shaking his fist at the sky here, but the strangest thing about this situation is that we aren’t devoting all this passion toward addressing those real problems.

‘Stranger Things’ Actor Noah Schnapp Reveals That He Apologized To Doja Cat After Leaking Their DMs

Direct messaging is a dangerous game. Contacting someone under a romantic pretense can be trouble if the person makes your correspondence public. Doja Cat was the latest victim of this by way of Stranger Things actor Noah Schnapp’s TikTok, but the 17-year-old has assured fans all is well between the two after Doja Cat’s angry response.

Earlier this month, the young actor shared a now-deleted TikTok post revealing DMs with Doja Cat, where she expressed interest in his Stranger Things co-star Joseph Quinn. Doja Cat did not like this at all and made her disdain clear through a live broadcast. She understood Schnapp is young and had poor judgment, but stood on the fact it was “unbelievably socially unaware and wack” and “borderline snake sh**… that’s like weasel sh**. “The “Get Into It (Yuh)” artist even lost 200k followers after publicly blasting the young actor.

In another TikTok post on Wednesday evening, Schnapp said, “Guys everything is all good I apologized and I still follow her and love her music no hard feelings” with hearts at the end of the message. Doja Cat has yet to confirm things are good on her end.

Despite this unfortunate event, the Hot Pink artist is riding high. Last year’s Planet Her earned its fifth top five hit on Billboard‘s Pop Airplay chart last week and the previous week she celebrated 22 new RIAA certifications, tying Nicki Minaj for the second-most Platinum singles for a female rapper ever. Everyone takes losses here and there, but this doesn’t even tip the scale compared to her recent wins.

Doja Cat Lost 200,000 Followers On Instagram Since Voicing Her Frustrations About Noah Schnapp

The world has been enjoying the new season of Stranger Things, and it’s affected some more than others — just ask Kate Bush who was the world “Running Up That Hill.” For Doja Cat, the fourth season of Stranger Things had a different impact on her as it gave her someone new to swoon over, that being actor Joseph Quinn. In hopes of sparking a new romance in her life, Doja inquired about Quinn in an Instagram private message to Stranger Things co-star Noah Schnapp. However, things went a bit left as Schnapp ended up sharing the DMs in a TikTok he posted.

Doja voiced her complaints about Schnapp’s move in a live broadcast, calling his decision to share the private messages “borderline snake sh*t” and “weasel sh*t.” This is after she noted that Schnapp is “a kid” and “when you’re that young, you make mistakes. You do dumb sh*t.” Her comments have seemingly backfired on Doja as she’s lost 200,000 followers on Instagram since her livestream, according to Daily Mail. This is a relatively small number compared to Doja’s now 24.14 million followers (about 0.8 percent), so the impact won’t be too much for the Planet Her artist on the social front.

However, while Doja lost followers, Schnapp has seen an increase of nearly a million Instagram followers, as his count went from 24.25 million to 25.17 million, according to social media analytics company Social Blade. That actually puts Schnapp ahead of Doja on that front. The uptick is most likely because of the new Stranger Things season, but the Doja incident surely helped the boost in some way.

Doja Cat Is Getting Slammed For Asking 17-Year-Old ‘Stranger Things’ Star Noah Schnapp To Matchmake

This week, Doja Cat has stirred the internet pot once again. This time, it’s by calling out Stranger Things actor Noah Schnapp for sharing screenshots of DMs where she asks Schnapp if he could set her up with his co-star, Joseph Quinn. Doja called Schnapp’s TikTok posts as, “borderline snake sh*t” and “weasel sh*t.”

Trouble is, Schanpp is a minor (17 years old, to be exact) and reaching out to him in the first place could be seen as questionable behavior by some. While Doja Cat has garnered her share of supporters in calling out the young (yet very internet savvy) Stranger Things star, she’s now also facing quite a bit of backlash from commenters on social media.

“Why is doja cat (26) going on live and calling noah schnapp (17) a snake / weasel for a 20 sec TikTok he made ??? embarrassed for her,” one person tweeted, along with a photo of the Kanye West “bro stop” meme. Another tweet reads, “Sorry i have to laugh at the doja cat noah schnapp situation because why would you go to a 17-year-old known sh*tposter asking him to hook you up with his 29-year-old coworker and expect him to be 100% serious about it LETS BE REAL.”

Meanwhile on TikTok, Doja Cat’s unrelated videos, like one of her kitchen dancing, are getting flooded with comments that have been liked tens of thousands of times. “Leave Noah alone,” reads one. “UR GETTING MAD AT A KID,” reads another, while a more err… nuanced commenter concludes with, “Yikes you ain’t getting Joseph any time soon now.”

Just another day on the internet when Doja Cat and Stranger Things is involved, y’all.

Doja Cat Is Upset With ‘Stranger Things’ Actor Noah Schnapp For Sharing Their Private DMs

A couple days ago, Stranger Things actor Noah Schnapp took to TikTok to share some DMs between Doja Cat and himself, in which Doja romantically inquired about new Stranger Things co-star Joseph Quinn. It turns out Doja wasn’t pleased with that, as she has revealed in a live broadcast.

Doja started by trying to have empathy for 17-year-old Schnapp, saying, “First, let’s try to be chill about it. To be fair, this is, like, a kid. Noah is, like… I don’t know how old he is, but there’s no way he’s over, like, 21. And he might be, I could be wrong. But when you’re that young, you make mistakes. You do dumb sh*t. I’m trying to be super fair. You do dumb sh*t, you say dumb sh*t, you f*ckin’ f*ck up relationships with people. You make mistakes. You’re supposed to do stuff like that so that you know not to do it in the future. I did my share of f*ck-ups so that I don’t f*ck up again.”

Then, she continued, “But the fact that this person, that Noah did that — went and posted a private conversation between me and him — is so unbelievably socially unaware and wack, and like… you know what I mean? That’s like borderline snake sh*t… that’s like weasel sh*t.”

The video Schnapp shared is no longer up on his TikTok account and the actor has yet to publicly address the situation.
