Nicki Minaj’s “Pink Friday 2” Reaches One Million Units Sold In The U.S.

Nicki Minaj’s status in hip-hop is pretty much cemented now at this point in her career. Or is it? The legendary Trinidadian rapper and singer with roots in New York continues to transcend even the greatest of her accomplishments. If you have been living under a musical rock for the past month, she dropped her long-awaited album, Pink Friday 2. While some feel the tape is a bit bloated, her Barbz are still enjoying it nonetheless.

Recently, the 41-year-old femcee has been dishing out new versions of the album. The first of them was called the Gag City Deluxe. That tacked on a remix of “Beep Beep,” which included 50 Cent. Additionally, she worked with Keyshia Cole and Monica for “Love Me Enough.” Then, over this past weekend, Nicki and Future got together for a second collaboration on “Press Play.”

Whether or not Nicki did this to up the streams and sales will never be known. But, we would be remiss to say that it did not help PF2 earn its first major milestone. According to chart data, the sequel over a decade in the making has just hit one million units sold in the United States. Nicki took the time to thank her Barbz for this incredible achievement. “Thank you to every single one of you listening [and] supporting this album, the best label Republic Records, the GREATEST artists in the WORLD of our generation featured when I needed them the most,” according to a quote gathered from Revolt.

What are your thoughts on Nicki Minaj’s latest sales milestone for her new album Pink Friday 2? Is this a better record than the original Pink Friday? Do you feel she did a great marketing job to reach this goal? Or, do you think her record would have taken longer to get one million units sold without the other versions? We would like to hear what you have to say about all of this. With that in mind, be sure to leave all of your hottest takes in the comments section below. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Nicki Minaj. Finally, stay with us for everything else going on around the music world.

7 Worst Rap Diss Tracks Ever

Some of the most iconic works in rap history have been scathing diss records. Hip-hop heads frequently cite Tupac Shakur’s “Hit ‘Em Up” as one of the greatest diss tracks of all time, and verses such as Kendrick Lamar’s on the Big Sean track “Control” have inspired many rappers to sharpen their pens and prove their capabilities. However, for every “No Vaseline” that serves as a show-stopping example of a rapper eviscerating their opponents, there are many duds that fail to impress fans or inspire awe. Here’s a look at 7 of the worst diss tracks ever made.

7. MC Hammer “Better Run Run”

MC Hammer gained fame for creating the chart-topping single “Can’t Touch This” but failed to secure his financial future, ultimately falling out of the public consciousness. Unfortunately for the parachute pants-wearing rapper, this 2010 diss aimed at Jay-Z failed to reinvigorate his career. Hammer delivered the track after taking offense to Jay-Z referencing him on the Kanye West track “So Appalled.”

On the track, Jay raps “Hammer went broke, so you know I’m more focused” in an apparent reference to the “Can’t Touch This” rapper’s financial failures. Instead of acknowledging that the lyric served as an accurate representation of his financial status, MC Hammer took it upon himself to film a music video with less production value than an average TikTok, featuring milquetoast lyrics like “Yo Jay, I got a reasonable doubt. If I knocked on your door, would you come on out?

6. Canibus “J. Clone”

Canibus has been on both the giving and receiving end of some of the most legendary diss tracks in hip hop, with high-profile feuds such as his 1997 beef with LL Cool J. Despite his reputation for being an elite writer, many of Canibus’ performances leave a lot to be desired.

One such example is his J. Cole diss, titled “J. Clone” which was delivered in response to J. Cole praising Canibus, and even stating that he grew up admiring the rapper’s artistry. Somehow, Canibus took offense to this praise, and responded on wax, deriding Cole for using his name in interviews. Fans seem to agree that belligerent behavior like this is what prevented Canibus from reaching the mainstream heights that artists like Cole have seen in recent years.

5. Nicki Minaj “Stupid Hoe”

This track became a meme due to its simplistic writing, schoolyard insults, and grating repetition. Nicki Minaj was still relatively new on the hip-hop scene in 2012, prompting her to aim at legendary femcee Lil’ Kim. Unfortunately, all this track did in the pop culture zeitgeist is reinforce the existing idea that female rappers cannot coexist. Luckily, the modern hip-hop soundscape has allowed women such as Megan Thee Stallion, Cardi B, Rapsody, Ice Spice, and many others to present a united front.

Nicki Minaj has also grown in the years following the release of “Stupid Hoe.” In response to a question regarding her beef with Lil’ Kim just a year after this track released, the Young Money signee stated “I don’t have beef with anybody, let me just say that. Life is too short. Nothing is ever that serious.”

4. Meek Mill “Wanna Know”

These days hip hop heads remember the Drake vs. Meek Mill beef primarily for the savagery of Drake’s now-iconic “Back To Back.” However, one track often forgotten in the conversation is Meek’s “Wanna Know.” This track delivers some of the softest jabs in diss track history, with Meek failing to win over any new fans in the beef, while also failing to impress any of his existing ones.

To make matters worse, the track resulted in a cease and desist letter from Vince McMahon and The Undertaker, due to utilizing uncleared samples for their WWE entrance music. Drake and Meek have since put the beef behind them, but this track remains a dark spot in the Philadelphia native’s discography.

3. Nick Cannon “The Invitation”

Nick Cannon and Eminem have a long and storied history of dissing each other, dating back to a series of jabs thrown by Eminem on his 2009 album Relapse. On the album, Nick Cannon caught a number of strays after Eminem attacked his then-spouse Mariah Carey for denying rumors that she had ever dated the “Without Me” vocalist. For some unknown reason, Nick Cannon waited a full decade to clap back at Em, in a clear violation of the 24-hour rule imposed by the Drake and Meek Mill beef.

Cannon was no longer married to Mariah Carey when “The Invitation” was released in 2019, leaving listeners to question why he would even have the energy for this fight. Cannon released a flurry of tracks around this time that were interchangeably corny and unlistenable, with the Wild ‘N Out host delivering painfully boring vocal performances each time. Eminem responded with a few punchlines on the Fat Joe track “Lord Above,” while 50 Cent took to media outlets to express, “I would never respond to Nick Cannon… He is legendary corny, he’s been corny forever.”

2. Melle Mel “Kickback”

There’s just something about Eminem that inspires terrible diss records. Proficient modern lyricists may avoid engaging in beef with Eminem because they respect his pen too much, or perhaps it’s just dumb luck. However, Eminem has yet to face a genuine lyricist in his weight class. In 2023, hip hop legend Melle Mel came out of retirement to attack Eminem, after months of disrespecting Em’s status as a rap legend in the interview circuit.

Unfortunately, his outdated sound didn’t gel well with the modern hip hop landscape, making this track sound like a relic from the past that should have remained in the vault. Rhymes like “You look bad like a roach just crawled out of your book bag” leave listeners scratching their heads, while outdated jokes such as calling Eminem “Pill Clinton” only serve to make Melle Mel look like a dinosaur clawing for relevance. Mel attempted to retract the diss a few days after releasing it, claiming that the entire beef was some sort of performance art piece created to celebrate hip hop’s 50th anniversary. However, that just came off as a tepid excuse to save face.

1. Insane Clown Posse “Slim Anus”

Topping this list is yet another diss directed at Detroit rapper Eminem, this time from none other than the Insane Clown Posse. Rather than taking the route of a traditional diss record, ICP decided to attack Eminem with a parody of one of his earliest hits, “My Name Is.” In this song, the Clowns refer to Eminem as “Slim Anus” multiple times, which isn’t just an odd stretch in terms of wordplay, it also doesn’t effectively function as an insult.

Eminem responded to this record on the track “Marshall Mathers” wherein he accepts the nickname, stating “Slim Anus? You damn right slim anus, I don’t get f***ed in mine like you two little flaming f*****s.” Multiple lyrics aren’t even adjusted from the original song in the parody, leaving listeners to assume that ICP simply isn’t lyrical or creative enough to contend with the song they’re making fun of. At the end of the day, this song is a failure at almost every level, making it one of the worst diss tracks of all time. It’s at least worth listening to once or twice for a hearty laugh.

Nicki Minaj & Future Reunite On ‘Press Play’ For Yet Another ‘Pink Friday 2 (Gag City Deluxe)’ Collaboration

In December, Nicki Minaj dropped her long-awaited album, Pink Friday 2, which went on to set new records for women in rap music. Nicki isn’t in a rush to share any official videos for the album. Instead, she’d rather flood the field with all of the other songs she recorded for it.

On January 13, Minaj unveiled another extended version of the album, namely the Pink Friday 2 (Gag City Pluto Edition). The new release featured the song “Press Play,” yet another collaboration between her and Future after “Nicki Hendrix.”

The pair let loose on “Press Play,” leaning into producer ATL Jacob’s light-hearted energy. Based on Nicki’s verse, she doesn’t believe in throwing away bars, as she took a jab at the Billboard music charts, rapping:

“Set the tone like her vocal coach / They said, ‘Why can’t you be Yoncé?’ / Daddy wasn’t no business man, mama wasn’t no business owner/Mm, what an idiot / You can’t be me, I’m already it / I been saucy, they all wanna skinny dip / I am your label’s obsession, you’s another guinea pig / Top of every list, including your man bucket / Been on the chart so long, I told ‘Billboard’ to dust it / These sheep ain’t got the nerve, I heard I done struck it / It ain’t a hate train if you conduct it.”

Nicki Minaj Recruits Future Again For “Pink Friday 2” LP With Deluxe Banger “Press Play”

The Barbz are continuing to feast. Legendary Trinidadian rapper and singer Nicki Minaj is bringing a new edition of her momentous return album, Pink Friday 2. It had been a little over five years since the 41-year-old phenom’s last project Queen. It is safe to say that Nicki is making up for lost time by bringing extra material, but we are not complaining. Today marks the release of the Pink Friday 2 (Gag City PLUTO Edition).

It follows the Gag City Deluxe which added a 50 Cent version of “Beep Beep” and “Love Me Enough” featuring Monica and Keyshia Cole. PLUTO is a reference to Future’s nickname and he marks his second appearance with “Press Play.” It is the lone addition to this latest expanded edition and it is a straight banger. Also making a return to Nicki’s project is producer ATL Jacob.

Listen To “Press Play” By Nicki Minaj And Future

He continues to make his mark with big-time nod after big-time nod. Jacob brings sped-up piano keys to his familiar glitchy and bassy trap beats. The piano has a similar sound to Pooh Shiesty’s “Back in Blood.” Future brings a repetitive but catchy hook and Nicki has some witty one-liners as per usual.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new song, “Press Play,” by Nicki Minaj and Future? Is this the best deluxe track from any extended Pink Friday 2, why or why not? Is this the better of the two Future collabs from the record? Who had the better verse and why? We would like to hear what you have to say about all of this. Meek Mill’s Ex-Friend Reveals His Alleged Abuse Against Nicki Minaj

Nicki Minaj and Meek Mill’s relationship intersects with all kinds of fascinating hip-hop moments. The pair dated from 2015-2017 and it crossed over with numerous important points in both artist’s careers. Most notably, the beef between Meek and Drake put everyone in a fascinatingly delicate place for quite a while. Following their breakup, Nicki made a light-hearted joke about her time with Meek in her song “Barbie Dreams” from her album Queen.

But now some revelations are being made about their relationship that are far less amusing. Those details are coming courtesy of an ex-friend of Meek’s who claims to have been around the couple during their relationship. The friend has taken to Instagram Live recently to tell a series of unsettling stories about the way Nicki was treated in the relationship. Included in the allegations are references to Meek spitting on her and once kicking her out of the house and leaving her by herself. He also claims that Meek was deeply insecure throughout their relationship. Check out some of his claims below.

Meek Mill’s Alleged Abuses

Last year, Meek Mill teamed up with Rick Ross for a collaborative album called Too Good To Be True. The pair also recruited Vory, Fabolous, The-Dream, DJ Khaled, French Montana, Wale, Future, French Montana, and more. The album was met with mixed reviews from critics and some fans tried to go after Meek and Ross for the project’s modest commercial performance. Both clapped back about how much more important it is that they own their music and creative process rather than generating the most sales possible.

Last week, Meek Mill made a statement that surprised fans who have been following his various feuds for years now. He claimed that he was “too rich for beef” and had no reason to get upset at anybody anymore. What do you think of the allegations Meek Mill is facing for his alleged abuses of Nicki Minaj? Do you believe what Meek’s ex-friend is saying about him? Let us know in the comment section below.

Kenneth Petty’s “Violent Past” Raises Issues In $724K Lawsuit, Nicki Minaj Faces “Provoking” Accusations

Nicki Minaj is one of the most well-respected rappers in the music industry today, and she’s been romantically involved with other lyricists in the past. Among her highest profile relationships were Meek Mill and Safaree, though the black-haired beauty ultimately opted to settle down with a man who knew her before fame – Kenneth Petty. The couple shares one son, known to the world as Papa Bear. While their focus remains on building their happy family, they can’t seem to avoid legal controversies.

According to RadarOnline, Minaj is facing accusations of “provoking” her man to attack security at a 2019 concert after they failed to prevent a fan from rushing the stage. Guards quickly escorted the over-enthused attendee away. Still, the alleged victim claims the Queen of Rap was so upset by what could’ve happened that she had Petty assault him. First, she was yelling at a female security member, demanding answers about the fan’s appearance. At the time, Minaj was allegedly recording the encounter and yelling obscenities. Thomas Weidenmuller then stepped in to defend his co-worker, only for the Trinidadian to lash out at him too.

Later that day, Weidenmuller met with the mother of one, Petty, and two of her personal guards. “[Minaj] repeatedly screamed obscenities at him. She shouted, “Who do you think you are?” and demanded to know why he interrupted her when she attempted to video record her confrontation with the female security guard. She once again referred to the female security guard as a “f**king b**ch” and falsely insisted that Weidenmüller must have a physical or romantic relationship with her,” court documents state. “While Minaj screamed obscenities at me, Petty repositioned himself out of my eyesight and without warning struck me in the fact, which stunned and disoriented me. Because of the surprise nature of the attack, I am not sure as to whether Petty hit me with his fist or with a weapon.”

After seeking medical attention and undergoing numerous surgeries, Weidenmuller is asking for $724K in damages. He pointed out that Petty has a known history of violence, and that his wife encouraged him regardless of this. On the bright side for Nicki Minaj, she’s no longer on her husband’s decades-old sexual assault lawsuit. She’ll still appear “prominently” in the case, though the couple’s attorneys are trying to have Jennifer Hough’s allegations thrown out. Read all about that situation at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.
