Nicki Minaj Apologized To T-Pain For Ghosting On His 2007 Collaboration Request

Last month, T-Pain posted a video to TikTok apologizing to all the stars he’d accidentally ghosted by not checking his Instagram DM request folder, saying he had no idea that verified accounts were also sorted into requests. It seems he knows how it feels to be metaphorically “left on read,” revealing on the 85 South Show that he’d once been on the receiving end when he reached out to Nicki Minaj to collaborate early in the Queens, New York star’s career.

T-Pain recalled that in 2007, he’d reached out to collaborate, but eventually got curved by Nicki, who was busy working on her breakout tape, Beam Me Up Scotty.”We was about to work together and she stopped responding and I was like, ‘Nick, let me know what’s going on,’” he said. “She was like, ‘Hey, I’m an artist too and I’m working on my shit so ya know. Baby, chill.’ And I was like, ‘Oh… My heart.’”

When a clip of the interview made its way onto Shade Room’s account, Nicki couldn’t help responding in the comments. “I don’t remember this AT ALL but it DEF sound like smthn I would say,” she admitted. “Omg what was I thinking? He was already a rlly big artist. I was still underground. Chileeee I used to b buggin yo. My bad babe, all love. I have nthn but respect for your talent and thank you & Kanye for clearing ‘Go Hard’ for Beam Me Up Scotty last month.”

When Beam Me Up Scotty finally did hit DSPs last month, it marked a watershed moment for Nicki, bringing her full circle with her Young Money compatriots Lil Wayne and Drake on “Seeing Green.” Meanwhile, T-Pain used the attention from his TikTok video to debut his new single with Kehlani, “I Like Dat.”

Drake And Nicki Minaj Reunite In A Post Promoting The New Polo G Album

Until very recently, it had been kind of a while since we last heard Drake and Nicki Minaj together on a song, or even seen them in the same place at the same time. A lot of that was probably due to the rigors of their individual schedules and some of it might have been residual resentment over Drake’s tiff with Meek Mill while the latter was dating Nicki and a bit of it could just have been the results of growing up and growing apart, which happens to a lot of people in life.

But fortunately for fans of their tag-team chemistry, the duo recently reunited — along with Young Money founder/mentor Lil Wayne — on “Seeing Green” from the DSP version of her seminal mixtape Beam Me Up, Scotty, which she finally got around to uploading a month ago. Despite Nicki admitting that her collaborators “washed” her on the track, the result was a satisfactory conclusion that seemed to also wash away the years of disconnect between the trio, as Nicki revealed in a behind-the-scenes clip from the making of the song.

It seems that Drake and Nicki also finally found time in their busy schedules to link up in real life, as Nicki posted the first photo of them together in years on her Instagram in a post hyping her newly released collaboration with Polo G, “For The Love Of New York.” “Oh, look who stopped by, ya’ll?” Nicki purrs as Drake poses and mugs in the background. It’s unsure whether they were working on new music or just finally sharing the playdate they previously penciled in for their kids. For some fans, it’s just enough to see two of the icons of the past decade still flourishing after all this time.

Polo G And Nicki Minaj Offer A Heartbreak Tale On The Reggae-Influenced ‘For The Love Of New York’

Polo G is undoubtedly one of the best acts in this generation’s crop of rappers. After making a name for himself with his debut album, 2019’s Die A Legend, the Chicago native took a big step upward with last year’s The GOAT, an effort that was one of the better hip-hop releases in 2020. Now, for the third consecutive year, Polo G steps forth with a new album, one of that stands as his most collaborative effort yet. Hall Of Fame arrives with 20 tracks to its name, one which features a highlight guest appearance from Nicki Minaj who appears on “For The Love Of New York.”

The duo’s first track together is a reggae-influenced effort that sees Polo and Minaj detailing their sides of an unfortunate heartbreak. The former reveals his own faults in the relationship with lines like “Tryna figure out my feelings, I’m confusin’ you / Where I’m from, happy endings are unusual” and “Girl, if I wasn’t so heartless, you could have mine.” Nicki arrives for the final verse of the song to reveal how the failed relationship affected her. “You triggerin’ my anxiety in the worst way,” she says. “Sometimes, the best thing you could do is step away.”

As for the rest of Hall Of Fame, the project is led by Polo’s No. 1 single “Rapstar” and features additional contributions from The Kid Laroi, Lil Durk, Lil Wayne, Scorey, G Herbo, Rod Wave, DaBaby, Young Thug, Roddy Ricch, Pop Smoke, and Fivio Foreign.

Cardi B, Doja Cat, Saweetie, And More Are Kid-Approved In A Cute TikTok Video

Reversing one of TikTok’s favorite challenges, a newly surfaced video proves the kids just might be alright. While the app has become known as a launching pad for some artists’ careers — artists like Bella Poarch, Foushee, and Lil Nas X — it’s also a place where the generation gap couldn’t be more evident as teens challenged their older relatives to identify stars of today like DaBaby, Lil Baby, and others. However, one parent flipped the trend, showing photos of stars to her toddler, and the wholesome video rapidly accumulated a huge number of views, jumping to other platforms as well.

Seeing photos of Beyonce, Cardi B, Chance The Rapper, DaBaby, Doja Cat, Nicki Minaj, Pop Smoke, and Saweetie, the child correctly identifies most of them, getting extra excited for Cardi B and Doja, although we’ll give points for effort for exclamations of “Baby!” and “Pop Soaps!” However, one of the more inexplicable answers is for Megan Thee Stallion, who for some reason, the baby identifies as “Grandma.”

As these acts all hover in the upper echelons of the Hot 100 whenever they drop new music, it’s no wonder they’re kid-approved — or maybe it’s the other way around. In any case, judging by this toddler’s reactions, Cardi and Doja look to have long careers ahead of them — and Megan Thee Stallion might want to check her mail for that AARP card.

Lil Yachty Asked Drake To Get Nicki Minaj To Unblock Him On Twitter

During a recent interview with TMZ about the return of live shows in 2021, Lil Yachty revealed that despite counting himself as one of Nicki Minaj’s biggest fans, Mrs. Petty still has him blocked over supporting Cardi B (with whom he shares a connection through Quality Control Music) during the two female stars’ tiff in 2018 — and the measures to which he’s gone to try to rectify the situation.

When the TMZ hosts brought up the inciting interview with their former colleague Raquel Harper on her show Raq Rants, Yachty chuckled. “It’s the Barbz, man!” he declared. “They still killing me!”

Explaining the situation, he said, “I’ve got a lot of love for Cardi B and she’s damn near a family member, so through whatever I’m gonna ride. I’ve loved Nicki Minaj since I was a child. Yesterday, I went on Twitter retweeting my tweets from middle school praising Nicki and I went on Instagram Live letting the world know that Nicki has me blocked from that interview. I even hit Drake, like, ‘Tell Nicki I love her!’ I checked this morning — I’m still blocked… I think she’s standing strong, but my love for Nicki is forever.”

Yachty’s not the only one with whom Queen Barb and her fans have had issues online. Lil Nas X apparently received enough backlash from Barbz mad about his previous denial (an unforgivable sin, clearly) over mentioning his prior love for Nicki Minaj on his new song “Sun Goes Down” that he made a statement on Twitter that he’d no longer mention her in his music.
