Saweetie Puts Quavo On Blast With Embarrassing DM

Quavo is having a rough week. The Migos rapper had to stand by while Chris Brown dropped the diss track “Weakest Link” to positive reception from fans. He clapped back with “Over Hoes & B*tches” on April 22, but it did not get the same love as Breezy’s. Some felt Quavo relied too heavily on the feature from the late Takeoff, while others thought the rapper failed to dig up any real dirt on Brown. It gets worse. The same day “Over Hoes & B*tches” dropped, Saweetie hopped on X (formerly Twitter) to disprove one of Quavo’s claims.

Saweetie has become a central figure in the Quavo versus Brown feud. While Karreuche Tran was previously the focus, due to the fact that she dated both artists, Saweetie has been referenced in both “Weakest Link” and “Over Hoes & B*tches.” In the former, Brown claimed to have slept with the rapper while she was still dating Quavo. In the latter, Quavo claims he doesn’t care. “I can take a model b*tch and make a Saweetie, n**ga,” he raps, with the implication being that she’s replaceable. It’s a less than stellar bar, and one that Saweetie was more than happy to upend.

Saweetie Shared Instagram Receipts With Fans

The rapper posted a screenshot of her Instagram DMs, and one of the messages left on read was from none other than Quavo. The entirety of the message is unclear, but the first couple words read: “Damn. We used to mean af to each…” Saweetie posted a withering caption with the screenshot, making it clear that she meant more to Quavo than he’s letting on. “Hopefully the model he turns into me replies,” she wrote. Saweetie and Quavo dated for three years before breaking up in March 2021.

Saweetie talked about their relationship during an appearance on Caresha Please. She skirted around the question of whether or not Quavo cheated on her, and ultimately chalked their split up to differences. “I thought we was gonna spend the rest of our lives together,” she admitted. “With him, I knew it was the one. It was different.” Ironically, the two rappers first connected when Quavo DM’d Saweetie on IG in 2018, which means this new DM drama brings things full circle. Like they say: all’s fair in love and war.

Kanye West Dubs Chris Brown A “God” Amidst Quavo Feud

Kanye West is an unpredictable guy. Fans can never predict what he’s going to do or say next, and his recent appearance on The Download podcast was a startling reminder. He claimed he would have sex with Michelle Obama, called J. Cole a “p**sy” and vowed to ruin Drake’s career. He did, however, take some time out to discuss artists he was a fan of, and felt deserved their fame. One of these artists was Chris Brown. At a seemingly random interval in the interview, West asserted that Brown was a “god” in the music industry.

The topic came about when Kanye West talked about restrictions within the music industry. He theorized that truly great artists have had a harder time breaking through due to the machinations of “middle men.” He even referenced his own verse on the song “Carnival,” which name drops Brown. “I’m the new Jesus, bitch,” West rapped. “I turn water to Crist, this for what they did to Chris. They can’t do sh*t with this.” In the emcee’s estimation, Brown is one of the aforementioned “greats” that deserves to thrive. “Chris is a god,” he asserted.

Kanye West Has Praised Brown For Decades

This is not the first time Kanye West has spoken in Brown’s defense. He asked fans to forgive the R&B singer shortly after he was charged with assaulting Rihanna in 2009. “Can’t we give Chris a break?” he asked during his VH1 Storytellers performance. “I know I make mistakes in life.” West also gifted Brown with a YEEZY truck in 2020. The truck came with a written letter that read: “Congratulations to Chris, 20 years in the game you have overcome many hurdles and obstacles, you deserve the recognition for all the hard work you have put in.”

The affection Kanye West and Chris Brown have for another contrasts with some of their other high profile relationships. Both men are involved in feuds with other hip-hop superstars, and have dropped diss tracks in the last week. West released a remix of the Future and Metro Boomin smash single “Like That,” which took at Drake, while Brown bombed on Quavo with “Weakest Link.” Both disses were well received, with many feeling that Chris Brown delivered the decisive blow in the Quavo feud. The muted response to Quavo’s “Over Hoes & B*tches” all but solidified this theory. West, meanwhile, is still at war with the 6 God.

Quavo’s Latest Chris Brown Diss Gets Mixed Reaction From Fans

Quavo and Chris Brown are in full-on battle mode. Fans have gotten four diss tracks in the span of two weeks: the latter dropped “Freaky” and “Weakest Link,” while the former dropped “Tender” and “Over Hoes & B*tches.” “Weakest Link” was a devastating diss from Brown, with the R&B star taking aim at Quavo’s current romantic relationship. The bars were inconsistent, but Brown brought swagger and aggression to the table, and fans were impressed. The same can’t really be said for Quavo’s response. Credit to the rapper for getting a response out in three days, but fans aren’t thrilled by what they heard.

The biggest talking point with regards to “Over Hoes & B*tches” is Takeoff. The standout member of Migos (and Quavo’s late nephew) handles the chorus of the song, but some felt like his inclusion was distracting. Obviously, he’s not involved in the feud. It makes sense to include Takeoff on paper, given that Brown mentioned the Migos rapper on “Weakest Link,” but it didn’t really translate the way Quavo wanted. Brown certainly felt this way, as he took to Instagram to make fun of the diss. “Damn and I was excited,” he wrote. “That s**t don’t even need a response. Takeoff rap better.”

Quavo’s Diss Track Is Being Criticized

The fans who liked “Over Hoes & B*tches” complimented the flow and the production. Then there was the single artwork, which replaced a controversial photo of Brown choking a woman with Quavo choking Brown. What the song lacked for many, though, was energy. The Migos rapper goes after Brown’s drug use and bipolar disorder, but he doesn’t reveal anything fans didn’t already know.

“I’m still crying,” wrote one X user. “Quavo’s whole diss was cultivating sh**ty tweets & google searches against Chris Brown.” Another user blamed the people in the rapper’s inner circle. “Quavo doesn’t have any good friends,” they added. “Anyone who really liked him would have warned him that it was a bad idea to respond with this pathetic diss.”

Kanye West Dismisses Drake’s Music: “Your Raps Don’t Mean Sh*t”

Drake can’t catch a break. He was already forced to fend off attacks from some of the biggest names in hip-hop, and now he has contend with the rapper he’s cited as his biggest influence: Kanye West. Drake and West have had a notoriously fickle relationship over the years, but the latter has once again declared war on the 6 God. He released a remix to “Like That,” on The Download, and used the podcast platform to claim that Drake’s career is “artificial.” He didn’t say industry plant, but he definitely made it seem as though Drake’s success has been more calculated than fans have realized.

Kanye West felt “Push Ups” was a boring diss song. Despite being widely praised by fans and critics, West felt the diss lacked punch because of who Drake has become. “Every bar that Drake said means nothing anymore,” the rapper claimed “Drop and give me 50, ain’t nobody gonna drop and do sh*t. Your raps don’t mean sh*t.” West has been critical of Drake’s extreme popularity in the past. He famously ranted about the radio play that the DJ Khaled and Drake single “For Free” received during a 2016 concert. He got more specific about why he felt this way, however, during the Download interview.

Kanye West Felt Drake’s Diss Was “Artificial”

The “Carnival” rapper claimed that Drake is the beneficiary of the industry. “[It’s] a bunch of middle men controlling the market,” he said. “There are middle men saying ‘this what diamonds cost’. And everybody running around. Drake, all this sh*t is artificial.” West’s remarks about Drake’s bars should be taken with a grain of salt, though, given that Drake has been credited (and occasionally uncredited) as a writer on several of the rapper’s hits. Drake wrote the chorus to West’s 2018 song “Yikes,” but was not officially credited because West’s team claimed they “forgot.”

Regardless of their prior collabs, Kanye West wants Drake gone. “That’s why gods had to come,” he asserted. “Pack that boy up.” In a previous Download clip, West said that he was excited to team up with Future and Metro Boomin on what he called the “elimination” of Drake. In his estimation, ruining Drake’s career is a professional as well as personal goal. “I’m tired of this guy f**king with me, so the fact that all these is coming together,” he added. “We gon’ tear the head off whoever they thought was in control.” Time will tell if West and company succeed.
