Jay-Z, Swizz Beatz, And N.O.R.E. Link Up At Spirit Of Life Gala

Earlier this week, various big names gathered to attend City Of Hope’s annual Spirit Of Life gala in Pasadena. This year’s even also celebrated the 50th anniversary of the organization’s partnership with the Music, Film and Entertainment Industry (MFEI). Among those in attendance were Diddy, Ludacris, Public Enemy, LL Cool J, and more. Jay-Z was even spotted in the crowd, seated next to Swizz Beatz. The duo were seen chatting with Jon Platt, CEO of Sony Music Publishing.

In one clip, N.O.R.E. is seen approaching their table, asking Swizz Beatz to tell the room what he’s grateful for. He thanked everyone for coming out and “helping people to save lives.” When N.O.R.E asked Jay-Z to share a message with the people, however, he was told “I ain’t gonna do that. Get out my face, dog.”

This year’s gala celebrated music industry executive and entrepreneur Lyor Cohen, who gave a heartfelt speech towards the end of the evening. “We came here to help eradicate cancer, but wouldn’t it be great if we could also eradicate hate?” he told the crowd. Cohen proceeded to call on his peers to pray for peace for the people of Israel and Palestine.

“I’m so sorry to hijack this special event to express my feelings as a human,” he said. “Just as I express them when injustices happen to anyone targeted because of their race or religion or sexual identity… My heart goes out to all the Palestinian people in the region that have had to endure unnecessary loss of life. I pray for peace – won’t you join me?” DJ Cassidy also curated a performance featuring various hip hop artists who’ve been impacted by Cohen. Sampha Shares New Short Film Just Hours Before His Album Drops

Sampha fans have been waiting a LONG time for a new project. The critical darling R&B singer last released a new project in 2017 with his debut Process. He hasn’t been entirely quiet since then as he’s popped up for a few features. He’s teamed up with some of the biggest rappers around like Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and Stormzy. He also lent his voice to a few songs from electronica project SBTRKT.

Earlier this year he returned with his first new music in 2017. He dropped two singles before announcing a new album. Back in June he shared “Spirit 2.0” with fans which serves as the lead single for the new album. After announcing that his new album LAHAI was coming in October he dropped a second single. That track was called “Only” and arrived last month with even more fanfare than its predecessor. Now with the album only hours away Sampha shared a new 4-and-a-half minute short film to his YouTube channel. You can check out the entire video below.

Sampha Teases Album With A New Short Film

After announcing that he had a new album on the way Sampha also confirmed that he was going on tour. The tour begins on October 29 and will see him playing 16 shows across the US and in Europe. His new album LAHAI is due out tonight and it’s got an impressive list of collaborators.

Fellow critical darlings like Stormzy, Nilufer Yanya, and Obongjayar contributed to the record. As did dance music producer Yaeji who is also credited as a co-writer on the short film Sampha released earlier today. The 14 track album is expected to draw massive critical acclaim, as the singer has for nearly everything he’s released. Last year he teamed up with Kendrick Lamar for the highly acclaimed song “Father Time” from one of the most acclaimed albums of the year Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers. Terry Stotts, Damian Lillard’s Former Head Coach, Resigns As Bucks Assistant

Terry Stotts, who worked with Damian Lillard as the Trail Blazers head coach for nine years, has resigned as an assistant for the Milwaukee Bucks. Stotts joined the coaching staff assembled by new Bucks coach Adrian Griffin earlier this year. Furthermore, it was Stotts’ first coaching role since parting ways with the Blazers in 2021. However, he announced his decision to leave Milwaukee before the season began. No reason has been given for Stotts’ departure, nor is it clear whether Griffin will seek a replacement.

Additionally, the move comes just a few weeks after Stotts was reunited with Lillard, by far the best player on the team during his Blazers tenure. The Bucks acquired Lillard from the Blazers in the biggest trade of the offseason, working with the Phoenix Suns in a three-team deal to land Giannis’ new tandem partner. Stotts and Lillard won 402 games together and made eight playoff appearances. However, it’s unknown if Lillard’s presence in Milwaukee contributed in any way to Stotts’ departure.

Giannis And Lillard Mixed In First Outings

Bucks fans got their first look at the Giannis-Lillard pairing earlier this week as the tandem made their debut against the Lakers in a preseason matchup. They combined for 30 points and 10 rebounds with Giannis playing 15 minutes and Lillard playing 22. Their second outing against the Thunder wasn’t as magical. Lillard was held to 5 points in 25 minutes, including a dismal 0-5 mark from three. Giannis fared better, putting up a double-double (18 points, 10 rebounds) in 25 minutes. So far, the pair have gone 1-1 in the preseason, with a game against the Grizzlies on Friday.

Hopefully, all the kinks will be worked out before the Bucks open the regular season against the Sixers next week. On paper, the tandem should be perfect. Giannis at least has absolutely no concerns about an offensive “competition” according to comments he made over the weekend. “We’re going to let Dame be Dame. There won’t be any competition. He will have the ball more,” Giannis said from the Bucks training camp earlier this month.

On a recent episode of Baddies East, Woah Vicky was seen getting chased and hit by Chrisean Rock’s friend. It appeared as though Chrisean and other bystanders were getting annoyed with the 23-year-old for talking about her religious beliefs. The new mother then advised her friend to “go slap her,” and the friend went for it.

While this wasn’t the first time Woah Vicky’s gotten wrapped up in drama on Baddies East, some viewers were shocked that things went this far. Previously, Chrisean tried to get her sister Tesehki to get into a physical altercation with the devout Christian, after she confronted her for liking Tweets about her relationship with Blueface. Tesehki refused, claiming that it would be “bullying.” Woah Vicky appears to agree.

Woah Vicky Shares Her Thoughts On “Baddies East”

Recently, Vicky took to Twitter to share her thoughts on the Baddies East cast, making it clear how she feels about the attack. “Every girl in that show is a bully and demons were manifesting when I started talking about Jesus,” she wrote. “It’s ok tho! Jesus still loves y’all.” In August, Vicky opened up about pressing assault charges against Chrisean, claiming she only went on the show to spread the word of God. She further explained that she didn’t go on the show to fight. Unfortunately, things didn’t go how she had planned.

At the time, she alleged that Chrisean threw something at her, and that one of her friends attacked her. In the altercation surrounding Blueface, Chrisean was seen throwing a tube of eczema cream at the internet personality. Drake Helps BNYX Top The Hot 100 Producers Chart For The First Time

Drake’s For All The Dogs has made its presence felt in dozens of Billboard charts. Aside from the Billboard 200 and Hot 100 where it’s dominated, it’s also made waves elsewhere. He returned to the top spot on the Hot Latin charts for the third time with the Bad Bunny collaboration “Gently.” He also took back the number one spot on the Artists 100 where he’s spent 38 weeks at the top, second only to Taylor Swift.

Another chart the album has touched is the Hot 100 Producers Chart. Though Drake himself isn’t a producer his album did shake up the list regardless. One of his most frequent collaborators on the album BNYX rocketed to the very top of the chart for the first time. He worked on 6 songs from For All The Dogs, most notably “IDGAF” with Yeat and “Rich Baby Daddy” with Sexyy Red and SZA. Drake Album Propels BYNX To Top Billboard’s Producers Chart

Even saying that Drake dominated the Hot 100 and Billboard 200 is an understatement. For All The Dogs pulled in over 400k units in its first week, totaling the 4th biggest first week of the year so far. He nearly sold more copies than the entire rest of the top 10 combined. And yet his Hot 100 performance was even more dominant.

The entire 23-song tracklist of For All The Dogs lands in the top 50 of the Hot 100 this week. That includes 7 of the top 10 songs and 14 of the top 20. Numerous artists like Yeat, J. Cole, and Sexyy Red earned their highest chart placements to date as a result of their appearances on the album. Travis Kelce To Travel With Taylor Swift During Eras Tour International Leg

A new report suggests that Travis Kelce will be jetsetting for a good part of the NFL offseason. According to Entertainment Tonight, Kelce will join girlfriend Taylor Swift on the international leg of her Eras Tour next year. “Travis and Taylor are all in… [They] are very serious about their careers, and the two bond over that and want to show support for each other whenever they can,” a source told the outlet. Furthermore, the source claims Kelce will travel with Swift to Brazil for her concerts from November 17-19. However, that feels unlikely given that Kelce has a marquee matchup against the Eagles on November 20.

However, it’s definitely fair to assume that his plans include a majority of next year’s tour dates. Swift kicks things off in Japan in February. Depending on how the Chiefs do this year, Kelce will be unlikely to attend as the Tokyo concerts coincide with the days in the run-up to the Super Bowl. However, the rest of the dates between late February and the start of Chiefs training camp in August should be wide open for Kelce to attend. That run of shows sees Swift tour both Asia and Europe.

Kelce And Swift Swing By SNL

This past weekend, Kelce and Swift didn’t go as far afield as Asia, they did swing up to New York this past weekend. After dining at Nobu, the couple made some surprise cameos on SNL. The episode was hosted by Pete Davidson and featured Ice Spice as the musical guest. Swift’s appearance came during the musical guest segment when she appeared to introduce the performance by Ice Spice and Rema.

Meanwhile, Kelce made an appearance during a skit about his relationship with Swift. Appearing as himself, the skit was themed around an NFL broadcast trying not to talk about Taylor Swift. The episode was the first for the show since the end of the historic writer’s strike last month. Davidson served as host, fulfilling the gig that was canceled in May just after the writer’s strike began. Meanwhile, Ice Spice teamed up with Rema to perform their hit “Pretty Girl”. Overall, it was a fairly strong return for the show, which also commented on other pop culture moments such as Deion Sanders.
