Fif took his Diddy trolling on the road, this time in Miami’s Little Havana at a spot called Dead Flamingo Pop Up where “Diddy Roast” was scheduled to take place and 50 Cent pulled up just to see if the Bad Boy himself was in the building.

50 even posed for pics with fans and passed around shots of his Branson Cognac, then took to IG about his Diddy adventure. “Yes, I was in attendance I thought puffy might show up because I saw Tom Brady at his. [shrug emoji] he didn’t come, I had the shooters [camera emoji] get your mind out gutter videographers [eyes emoji] what!”

The Diddy roast was actually a fundraiser for the National Domestic Violence Hotline and although 50 didn’t get on the stage, it featured sets from local Miami comedians Lonnie Cox, Ricky Cruz and Drew Illa.

Some of the jabs sounded like, “Sean Combs got his nickname ‘Puffy’ because that’s how he leaves his girlfriends after every relationship.”

Brittany Brave, the emcee at the event, also spoke about how comedy helped her out of an abusive relationship.

“[The Diddy scandal] is topical right now so it made sense to join the conversation in a productive way,” she said. “Comedy is what pulled me out of an abusive relationship that lasted for three years and it continues to help all of us make sense of life, especially the parts of it that sting.”

Several reports have confirmed that Love And Hip Hop star Tommie Lee was arrested on battery charges in Miami over the weekend in an incident that occurred at the famous LIV Nightclub.

Miami Police records say that police arrived at LIV to find Lee being subdued by a man who claims that he was assaulted by the reality star. The man told police that he was approached by Lee, who he believed was trying to give him an unknown object. The man didn’t accet the object, which is when Lee allegedly began being belligerent and even said she would have him killed.

The man said he’s never met Tommie Lee before this incident.

He claims that the 39-year-old continually poked him in his face which prompted him to grab her by the arms and held her until the police arrived. Authorities took a look at surveillance footage, which was consistent with the unidentified man’s version of events.

Tommie Lee was then placed under arrest for misdemeanor battery.

NYC radio personality Funkmaster Flex has never pulled any punches when it comes to his opinion about music and it hasn’t stopped with one of the most successful singles of the year.

Flex took to the HOT 97 airwaves this past weekend to review the popular track and the legendary NYC DJ had nothing good to say about Richman’s song, calling it “trash” as shown below when an X user recorded Flex’s radio commentary.

Flex admitted that he doesn’t know and hasn’t heard of any other songs from the VA-born artist, who has been making music since 2016. Flex ended his rant by labeling the song hot garbage, but stillproceeded to play the record, presumably under the program director’s demand.

[WATCH] Styles P Says That Jay-Z Never Reached The Level Of Lyricism Of The Notorious B.I.G.

“The Ghost” Styles P from the legendary Ruff Ryders sat down on a recent episode of Scoop B Radio and he discussed a ton of topics including: whether or not Jay-Z has ever lyrically surpassed the late Notorious B.I.G. As one of the most revered lyricists with a career spanning three decades, includig his close relationship with Biggie, its safe to say that what Styles has to say is valid.

Around the 25 minute mark, Scoop posed the question if Hov ever surpassed Biggie lyrically and Styles matter-of-factly replied, “No I don’t. I don’t say anyone surpassed Biggie because Big didn’t have a fair shot to be around as long as he should’ve and I believe hje set the tone. I believe in Hip Hop, we do too many comparisons, especially of people who are not around. I don’t think jay-Z makes it to where he’s at, The L.O.X. makes it to where he’s at…a bunch of us if it wasn’t for Big and ‘Pac actually setting a certain tone, standardand bar in the rap game for you to keep up to the bar.”

Styles delved into other topics including his favorite producers to work with, his “Mount Rushmore” of MCs, who were Big Daddy Kane, Rakim, Kool G. Rap and KRS-1 as well as a host of other topics related to Styles’ illustrious career.

Foxy Brown Named As Key Witness In Tupac Shakur Murder Trial

Screenshot 2024 06 10 at 9.05.52 AM

According to a recent news report, Brooklyn rapper Foxy Brown is now recognized as a key witness for the prosecution in the Tupac murder trial.

Prosecutors are seeking to have Brown act as a witness and provide evidence that reputed Southside Crip Duane “Keefe D” Davis was in Las Vegas on September 7, 1996, something that Davis has denied.

The Clark County District Attorney’s office is forming a list of witnesses that can place Davis in Vegas on the night of ‘Pac’s murder, but Keefe D says that there is mo proof that he was in Sin City on that fateful night in September. According to reports, Foxy allegedly saw Keefe D in Vegas and even interacted with him before ‘Pac’s shooting later that night.

In his book Compton Street Legend, Davis admitted to meeting with Brown the night of ‘Pac’s murder, but now says that anything he said in that book was fabricated.

In the book, Davis wrote: “As I walked up to the driver’s side window, I noticed that the rapper, Foxy Brown, was in the car with [Eric Von] Zip. So he instructed her to step out of the car and motioned for me to jump in. Zip had a hidden compartment that he opened up, reached in, and pulled a black .40 Glock out. He turned to me and said, ‘It’s time to get the money.’”

He continued, “Zip handed me the 17-shot pistol, which I promptly put down the back waist of my pants. I hopped out of the car, held the door open for Foxy Brown to get back in, closed the door, and they pulled off.“

Prosecutors are now trying to get Brown, whose real name is Inga Merchand, to corroborate the story told in Davis’ book on the witness stand.

The trial has been pushed back to November, with Davis’ new lawyer asking for more time to go over the case’s discovery. The 60-year-old Davis is currently sitting behind bars with a $750K bail, but could go home on a an ankle monitor if he can come up with the bail money.

Today In Hip Hop History: N.E.R.D. Released Their Third Album ‘Seeing Sounds’ 16 Years Ago

Screenshot 2024 06 10 at 7.48.14 AM

On this date in 2008, producer extraordinaire Pharrell Williams and crew dropped N.E.R.D’s third full length studio effort Seeing Sounds on Williams’ Star Trak label under the Interscope imprint. The album’s concept as well as its content revolves around the neurological phenomenon of synesthesia, as the album’s title suggests, the mixing of sensory modalities.

In an interview with MTV’s Shaheem Reid, Pharrell described synesthesia synesthesia, saying, “If you really analyze that, the most inspiration is probably deep inside a synesthesiac. So for us, ‘seeing sounds’ is what we relate to the most. We figured we’d make an album out of it. Energy and emotion was the criteria [while recording], but we made the music anticipating the [live] show. That was the most important thing…[The song] ‘Spaz’ is [an] old school, hip hop feeling with some drum and bass. It becomes a big, tall monster. It’s almost like this big gorilla looking down at you. If he smacks you, he kills you. His fingers are the size of your body. That’s kinda what we’re doing. We’re facing this big monster of, of what we know is out there, of what we see, that big monster of energy.”

Produced exclusively by The Neptunes, consisting of Williams and Chad Hugo, the duo went to Miami and L.A. respectively and consecutively recorded fourteen tracks(two bonus tracks) that aptly fit the LP’s concept title, which was originally named after the group.

A large part of the album’s promotion came from performing on Kanye West’s 2008 Glow In The Dark Tour, where the crew performed the top singles from the album, “Everyone Nose” and “Spaz”. The latter single was aso used in a Zune Music Pass commercial the same year.

Commercially, the album debuted at number seven on the U.S. Billboard 200, selling 80,000 copies in its first week.[Sales in the United States have exceeded 250,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.[It peaked in the top 20 in Australia, Canada, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, while also charting in the several other regions, including Austria, Belgium, France and Italy.

Peace to Pharrell, Chad Hugo ,Spymob and everyone else involved and making this a part of Hip Hop history!

Today In Hip Hop History: Rick Ross Arrested For Marijuana Possession In Atlanta Nine Years Ago

Screenshot 2024 06 10 at 7.02.40 AM

In 2015, “The Bawse” Ricky Rozay was pulled over in his Bentley in metro Atlanta for a window tint violation, but Atlanta Police smelled the odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle and later discovered some weed from inside of the vehicle, resulting in his arrest.

The Maybach Music founder was processed in the Fayette County Jail before he was released on bail later that day, similar to his arrest for marijuana possession just a year earlier in Greensboro, North Carolina for failure to appear in court for another marijuana charge.

Fortunately for Ross, the marijuana laws have loosened up extensively around the country, allowing many misdemeanor marijuana charges to be automatically vacated or offenders have been given dramatically reduced sentences.

Today In Hip Hop History: Geto Boys’ Bushwick Bill Passes Away Five Years Ago

BushwickBillPassedAwayatAge

On this date in 2019, Richard Shaw who is better known as “Bushwick Bill” to the Hip Hop world, died after a short battle with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Bill was 52 years old.

One of the original members of the Houston-based Geto Boys, Bill appeared on the group’s debut album Making Trouble and managed to stick around when Rap-A-Lot Records CEO J. Prince restructured the group. Prince kept Bill and NJ-born DJ Reddy Red and recruited Houston newcomers Willie D and Brad “Scarface” Jordan. The new collective dropped the group’s second LP, Grip It On That Other Level in 1989, which is considered a Horrorcore classic. The group’s third album, 1991’s We Can’t Be Stopped, was the epitome of the trio’s success and controversy, with the album being certified platinum less than a year after its release, but the album’s cover art showing Bill’s self-inflicted gunshot injury to his eye raised the most eyebrows about the group’s content.

When asked about the impact of that unforgettable album cover, Bushwick regretfully said, “It still hurts me to look at that cover because that was a personal thing I went through… I still feel the pain from the fact I’ve got a bullet in my brain… I think it was pretty wrong to do it, even though I went along with the program at first.”

Bill announced a month before his passing that he was diagnosed with cancer, but died shortly thereafter.

Bushwick Bill will forever be remembered as an unequivocal part of Hip Hop history!

Today In Hip Hop History: LL Cool J Released Third LP ‘Walking With A Panther’ 35 Years Ago

tumblr 08a6d8e71067b3c2a8f0c35a17518d41 cc607015 500

On this day in Hip Hop history, LL Cool J released his third studio LP Walking with a Panther on Def Jam Recordings in 1989.

Peaking at #1 on the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop chart and #6 on the Billboard 200, this album continued LL’s streak of commercially successful albums as well as served as one of Hip Hop’s early crossover projects.

During that era, Def Jam was working to bring Hip Hop to the forefront of the mainstream, and this album was geared to reinvent LL Cool J’s sound while retaining its Hip Hop integrity. Although it may have been publicly successful at achieving its goal, some critics have said this project may have brought LL’s street credibility into question.

Regardless of critical opinion, the appeal of this album outshines anything negative that could be said about it. The most impressive and respectable feat of this project is LL’s introduction as a self-produced MC. Throughout Walking with a Panther he proved that not only was he capable of knocking out hit after hit but was also a proficient beat maker. The original production team used to create the majority of LL’s better-known songs prior to this album, L.A. Posse, decided to part ways with Def Jam following a contractual disagreement. This altercation left only one member of the team, Dwanye Simon, left to work with LL Cool J in producing the entirety of the LP.

This project also toted some of LL Cool J’s biggest hit singles including: “Going Back to Cali” and “Jingling Baby.” Both of these singles are hallmarks of LL Cool J’s career and in their own way describe his career as a whole. LL’s appeal was from the beginning catered toward the female demographic while still retaining his “cool guy” demeanor in a way that it wasn’t awkward for males to also be in huge support of his music and style. Much like a proto-Drake, LL Cool J through this album was able to deliver enough to keep the streets happy all while maintaining the attention of his female fan base.
