Lil Yachty’s resurgence is one that “needs to be studied.” That is the current theme surrounding the Georgia rapper and singer’s career over the past year or so. But, he rightfully deserves the praise he has been receiving. His last album Let’s Start Here. was a foray into psychedelic rock and one that was immensely loved by fans and critics alike. But Yachty has not slowed down one bit since then, delving back into his hip-hop roots as well. Now, he has even more exciting news. According to HipHopNMore, Lil Yachty and James Blake will be dropping an album together.

This announcement comes from Lil Boat himself on his Instagram page. He shared a short video talking about how James Blake has been doing amazing things with hip-hop artists. However, he feels that their upcoming LP is going to be something totally unique. “I think James has worked with a quite substantial amount of hip hop artists. But this project is so left for both of us.”

Since its original October 26 release, his fourth studio LP is the second to receive the CHOPPED NOT SLOPPED treatment.

In addition, two songs have gotten full-fleshed music videos. “WY@” will be joining the fray tomorrow on Valentine’s Day. While fans are undoubtedly excited, it is receiving some surprised reactions as well. The reason for that is because Lupita Nyong’o is going to have a starring role in it. According to TMZ Hip Hop, the Maryland R&B star dropped a trailer for the visuals, and they are steamy.

It makes sense based on the timing, but fans are a little concerned about how much sexual tension is between Brent and Lupita. Right before the teaser ends, the two begin to lock lips. That sent fans into a frenzy. One person writes, “Lupita please don’t play w me rn.” Another goes, “Brent baby I’m sick rn leave that girl alone.” The reason for all of these reactions is because the Kenyan actress is currently dating Joshua Jackson, a fellow actor from Canada. The two auto-crooners who have roots in the ATL are bringing their first-ever collaboration to the world as of a couple of days ago. Bear1Boss and SoFaygo’s “conscious” is a futuristic and spacey trap banger with vocal work inspired by Yeat.

Bear1Boss’s “conscious” can be found on his most recent record SUPER BOSS! As we mentioned, Iit hit streaming platforms this past weekend. The project features rage rapper JELEEL! and D3rt as well. If you are not familiar with Bear1Boss, he is a prolific genre-bending talent. He navigates and successfully combines the worlds of pop, rap, and electronic to create his idiosyncratic style.

India Love’s Recording Session For “KEYS TO MY LIFE” Obliterated By Kanye West Fans

It was an emotional weekend for Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign fans. After a hype listening party in Chicago on February 9, their supporters were expecting VULTURES 1 to be on streaming services at midnight. However, it would not drop until Saturday, only to be taken down for a brief moment before reappearing a little later on. On top of that, it took Spotify longer to get it on their platform compared to everyone else. Fans are still digesting the project after all of that and “KEYS TO MY LIFE” has been a recent trending topic.

“KEYS TO MY LIFE” is the second track from the record and is one of the more somber, yet beautiful moments on it. One of the many guests on the project is India Love. She is not making music these days. The last time India put out anything was in 2018. All of her singles were released that year and nothing has come out since then. However, Kanye brought her on to tie things up in the closing moments of “KEYS TO MY LIFE.”

Her vocals sound pretty decent on the final product. However, footage of her laying down her portion has been the recipient of a lot of jokes. It does not help that India was recording in a loud room with people talking. But, even when you take that out of the equation, they do not sound great. Fans agree as the Instagram comments go to town on India. K Michelle Responds To Beyonce Fans Who Think She’s Jealous Of Singer’s Foray Into Country

While sports fans were watching the biggest football game of the year, music fans got the caliber of announcement they were dreaming of. During the second half of last night’s game Beyonce shared the announcement that fans have been begging for. In a trailer she announced her highly-anticipated follow-up to her critically acclaimed RENAISSANCE. The album is called ACT II and sees Bey taking her distinctive swagger in an entirely new sonic direction that has some fans surprised.

She shared two new singles “16 CARRIAGES” and “TEXAS HOLD’ EM” both of which have a distinct country flavor. Once the initial shock of the announcement wore off fans started to process how they actually felt about the shift. While there were some skeptics in large part the Bey Hive seems to be eating the new tracks up. But her shift into country music made some fans consider other artists who have taken a similar path. One of which is K Michelle who first announced last year that she was moving away from rap and R&B and into country. After a fan online asked how she was doing in the wake of Bey’s announcement, she shared her thoughts.

In her response, K Michelle shut down any rumors of hard feelings. “Why would anyone need to check on me. I’m one of the greatest African American country singers of all times with no album even out. Yall been mentioning me ALL night. I’m just happy to be spoke about in my genre. I love Bey and will be supporting her like i always do” her response read.

Kanye West, Ty Dolla $ign, & Chris Brown Are Taking No Prisoners On Epic “BEG FORGIVENESS”

After a weekend with Kanye West & Ty Dolla $ign’s collaboration tape VULTURES 1, fans are lukewarm on it. Some say it is an outstanding record, while others do not like how Ye comes across on some of the tracks. One thing that people seem to be collectively agreeing on is the quality of the production. It certainly helps when you have so many creative geniuses coming together like JPEGMAFIA and London On Da Track, for example. They have excellent contributions to “BEG FORGIVENESS.”

It is one of the few serious moments on the LP, and this may be the strongest of that bunch. When Kanye drops introspective and minimal tracks, they almost always seem to hit differently. If you do not believe us, go listen to ones like “FML,” “Say You Will,” or “Come to Life.” Those are just a handful of examples that show him at his best. Ye’s verse on “BEG FORGIVENESS” is quite touching as he hopes that his children will live amazing lives. Additionally, he talks about his own mortality and that he is comfortable with what he accomplised if he were to perish.

As for Ty and Breezy, they both dig deep and bring emotional performances. Brown delivers expertly written choruses, refrains, and pre-choruses. Ty finishes things up, belting out raspy and powerful lines like, “Say you wanna make amends before I go / Now you wanna put your heart on the line.” Both R&B talents are feeling resentful and it will send chills down your spine. For ultimate the crescendo, the instrumental feels tribal, epic, and cold in all the right ways. The chants of “beg forgiveness” are haunting but beautiful as well. BabyDrill Creates A Grim Environment On His Third LP “ScoreGod”

If you were to combine the talents of Young Nudy and 21 Savage you would create BabyDrill. The Atlanta rapper blends the dark and murderous production of 21 and the vocal work of Nudy. It makes sense where he might have gotten these influences from. The up-and-comer is a signee of Nudy’s label PDE (Paradise East Records). BabyDrill got his start in 2022 and is already working with some major players in the modern hip-hop landscape. A few to name are Latto, G Herbo, and of course, the previous ones we mentioned.

Additionally, BabyDrill was also a feature on The Kid LAROI’s comeback, debut album THE FIRST TIME. You can find him on the trap banger with Future called “WHAT’S THE MOVE?” In terms of his solo career, he has two projects to his name. His most recent, MadMan, dropped in June.

Blu & Roy Royal Bleed L.A. On “Royal Blu”

Underground hip-hop has produced some of the greatest lyrical talents in the 50-year history of the genre. Blu, the sure-fire MC from California has been dropping some of the best material from the West Coast since the early 2000 decade. In fact, his 2007 record, Below The Heavens, is widely seen as one of the best rap records from that time period. Blu’s prowess lies in his lyricism and good ear for production, both of which are blatantly obvious on his newest record.

The 40-year-old prolific spitter is following up a duo of projects in 2023. Bad News was the first of the two releases and that went down in August. That was a venture with Real Bad Man, a production and streetwear company that is on the rise. Then, in early December in 2023 Blu linked with Nottz for another concise listen called Afrika.

Now, he is back with another producer, this time with a fellow Californian Roy Royal. This is their first project together and it an entertaining listen. MadeinTYO Slows Things Down On “TYO 808”

It feels like MadeinTYO was someone who was known for his idiosyncratic bangers. The multi-cultural rapper and singer really burst onto the scene with his viral hit “Uber Everywhere.” It got so popular, that he recruited Travis Scott for an equally fire remix. But, it seems that MadeinTYO is looking to move over into another lane on the bustling musical freeway.

His 2023 record NEO TYO still had some more trappy-sounding instrumentals. But, the songs came across as more low-key than normal. Maybe he was trying to tell the fans something because TYO 808 is a full dive into more R&B/soul cuts. The Hawaii-born artist is bringing 18-tracks with features from singers such as BJ The Chicago Kid, Peyton, his older brother, 24HRs, among others.

Even the album as a whole sounds quite different from his older material, MadeinTYO maintains his personality. The production choices accencuate the listening experience in a very good way. It is mellow, serene, and frankly beautiful at times. Casual fans of MadeinTYO may not like this change, but this is a great change of pace for him. If you need something to vibe and chill out to, this is the record for you.

Kanye West’s “Vultures” Finally On Spotify

It’s been an even wilder past few hours for Kanye West fans than usual, as he finally dropped his Ty Dolla $ign collab album, Vultures. Moreover, the project only landed on Apple Music over the weekend, which obviously had non-users quite pressed and panicked online. However, the LP finally landed on Spotify, YouTube, and presumably other platforms, although it’s still under kind of bizarre technical circumstances. Vultures will show up if you search for it on Spotify, but at press time, it doesn’t appear on Ye’s artist page, which might just be a technical glitch that will be fixed very soon.

Still, there’s the chance that Spotify eventually takes the album down, just like Apple Music seemingly did earlier today (Saturday, February 10). But this could just be due to other technical difficulties, not any action from an entity specifically, so perhaps we’ll never know the real answer there. Kanye West had previously shared text message conversations with his team about Spotify not having Vultures, and it seems like they fixed things up quickly. It’s worth noting that this is an independent release, so sample clearance issues, a lack of a major label, and revisions probably influenced the chaotic nature of this drop.

What’s more is that we apparently have two more volumes of Vultures coming alter this year, plus a Kanye West solo album sometime in the near future. As such, we might get way more music from this collab that they teased but didn’t include on this first installment, such as “Everybody” and “River.” Of course, this also comes amid a lot of drama and backlash for his antisemitic double-downs and other controversial statements, which unfortunately are baked into the music. Those conversations will surely continue, but for now, folks are just dissecting the music.

In addition to all this, the 46-year-old also teased a Super Bowl commercial for Yeezy, but whether it airs this Sunday is anyone’s guess. We can’t imagine the conversation around this ad that higher-ups are having right now. But he’s here to stay, it seems, and what we’ll have to wait for is any retribution or true sign of change that would shift his art away from truly harmful implications.
