Rihanna Working On New Album, ASAP Rocky Confirms

Rihanna is reportedly working on a new album, according to her long-time partner A$AP Rocky. “She’s working on it,” Rocky was recently heard telling a fan who pressed him about when Rihanna was going to drop new music. Reports and rumors that Rihanna is making a music return have been circulating for some time. Having played the Super Bowl last year, sources told multiple outlets that the superstar has been considering a world tour for 2024/25. Furthermore, she has also created two albums worth of music during her time away from the industry. If a tour does happen, it would be the next big blockbuster event after a 2023 that’s seen Beyoncé, Drake, and Taylor Swift travel the world on tours of their own.

However, other reporting has disputed the claims of a tour. The Mirror reported in October that reports that Rihanna had signed at $39 million deal with Live Nation were “bogus.” Furthermore, they reported that no tour dates had been set or agreed upon. Additionally, it’s likely that the outcome of Rocky’s legal issues will also play a factor in determining whether Rihanna makes her return.

Meanwhile, Rihanna was recently spotted vibing during Rocky’s recent concert in Paris. It was some small subtle grooving in the VIP section but Rihanna was certainly feeling the vibes. Rocky and Rihanna had hit up the French capital for Fashion Week. This is despite the looming threat of incarceration for Rocky on federal gun charges. The last time the couple publicly hit up Paris last year for the city’s fashion week. Rihanna rocked a modern camo sports bra and sweatpants. She also caused a stir after wearing a Cartier watch as a choker.

As mentioned, it was a fairly muted reaction from Rihanna. There have been examples of her being more effusive. A video posted to her official TikTok account shows a collection of adorable reactions from the musical superstar as she encounters the various samples of FENTY’s collab with Puma. “Oh my God, isn’t this the cutest shit ever?” she says to someone on her phone as she holds up a little baby sneaker. “Oh my God, stop,” she is heard saying as she stops the presentation to take a picture of the samples.

Moreover, This Is Me… Now is a follow-up to her 2002 LP This Is Me… Then, and also includes a visual component thanks to a documentary about the project. However, instead of commenting on any of this, a lot of people are instead focusing on some particularly NSFW lines that the Nuyorican icon seemingly had for her husband, actor Ben Affleck. They appear on the track “Greatest Love Story Never Told,” which is coincidentally the title of the aforementioned album doc, and they’re a doozy.

ScHoolboy Q Shares The Very Literal Artwork For His New Album “Blue Lips”

Fans of Top Dawg Entertainment are in for a major 2024. During a special 10th anniversary performance for Isaiah Rashad’s Cilvia Demo they handed out papers that made some bold claims. They promised that nearly every single artist on the label and even some new ones they haven revealed yet would be releasing new projects this year. Shortly after that news hit ScHoolboy Q revealed that he would be the first one out the gate.

He announced his new album Blue Lips. It’s his first studio album since 2019 when he dropped CrasH Talk, which was met mostly with shrugs from fans and critics. That hasn’t been the case with the new material leading up to Blue Lips. Earlier this month Q dropped a pair of singles that gave fans their first taste of the new album. The two songs are called “Blueslides” and “Back In Love” and show off two very different styles. That was also the case with the newest single “Yeern 101” which dropped earlier this week. For an album called Blue Lips the artwork is impressively literal. It features a photograph of some very blue lips, presumably ScHoolboy Q’s himself. The album cover also features a hilariously placed parental advisory warning right in the center of the mouth and scribbled text of the album’s title in the bottom left corner.

In the replies fans reacted to the thought of having to look at that cover while listening to the album. “Honestly I kinda don’t like it but I don’t wanna be looking at some gap teeth while listening,” one of the top replies reads. This is one of the more unexpected collaborations as of late as both of their respective sounds are so different. Yeat operates in a more modern, futuristic soundscape. Weezy on the other hand like to rap over more traditional instrumentals. But, this duo pleasantly goes over much better than it does on paper.

Listen To “Lyfestyle” By Yeat & Lil Wayne

The instrumental is heavy on the drums and is fairly minimal. There is not really any booming bass, so it allows you to really focus on the lyrical content. It is also very dark and atmospheric, something we have come to expect. Yeat is not one to pen double entendres, but he does a good job on the refrain. However, Wayne simply steals the show. His rapid-fire flows are nothing new but he rips the beat to shreds with some terrific rhymes.

Yeat is an artist who has proven himself to be one of the most interesting of the new school. Overall, he is known for his truly wild flows and unique beat selections. Furthermore, his whole aesthetic just comes across as demonic without even trying to be. He knows how to make some off the wall songs, and his abilities have been lauded by fans. Not to mention, he now has co-signs from the likes of Drake, Lil Wayne, and Future. It just goes to show that he is an artist who is about to blow up.

Well, on Friday, he dropped off his brand-new project, 2093. This album features Wayne and Future, while also boasting 22 new songs. Upon first listen, this could very well be Yeat’s best album yet. This project is filled with cyberpunk aesthetics, and you can’t help but marvel at the soundscapes that can be found here. He keeps pushing his sound forward, and it is admirable to hear that from such a young artist. As for the fans, they seem to be resonating with it quite a bit so far, and it’s no surprise given the quality of the album.

Kid Reveals New LP “INSANO (NITRO MEGA),” Confirms It Is Separate From Its Predecessor

Nearly one month ago to the day, Cleveland multi-talent Kid Cudi put out his long-awaited album INSANO. It saw the legend go full trap/rage rap and it did not land for everyone. Cudi even got into a little bit of a debate with a popular music reviewer on X about his opinion on the record. Additionally, his fan base also tagged in him in the less than favorable 4.6 score from Pitchfork. To that he simply told them to not waste their time with reviews and digest it organically because the “the music is forever.” Even though it was not a smashing success for him, the deluxe is still waiting in the wings. However, Kid Cudi’s INSANO (NITRO MEGA), is not what it seems.

About two weeks ago Scott Mescudi gave us a vague update on fans assumed was going to be a expanded version of INSANO. He said it is a “whole other album.” That flew over everyone’s heads because he was telling us just that. The 18 songs are an entirely different LP; a sequel you could say. Kid Cudi announced INSANO (NITRO MEGA) on X according to HipHopDX and it will drop on February 23.

In the second tweet above, a fan had his suspicions confirmed that it would be a different listening experience. “Bingo. This is not a deluxe. For that reason, it is no surprise that Money Man is back already to deliver Purple Heart. We got the chance to speak with the 37-year-old back on the release date of his 2023 project CROPTOBER. Money Man revealed the reason why he likes to release new material at a faster rate than most rappers. “The music game is so slow. Behind the scenes is so slow with them, handling producers and getting the paperwork together and clearances…”

He continues, “I don’t have time for that. That’s why my fan base loves me because I’m always keeping them with new music.” Well, he is back to do just that in the early stages of 2024. Purple Heart was actually teased in the latter half of 2023.

The YSL rapper himself responded teasing that he had something coming soon. A few weeks later he expanded on his ambitions. He claimed his next project would embrace the sound of afrobeats more while also focusing on including more “substance.”

Now he’s once again sharing a new hint at his new music with fans. In a new video shared to Instagram with no caption, Gunna flexes some refrains he’s been working on. The acapella performance sees him rapping to some friends on a sound stage with raw vocals that sounds impressively good. Many immediately noticed he wasn’t kidding on his promise to pivot into more substantive lyrics. Check out the video and the positive fan reaction to it below.

In the comments, fans express their hype for Gunna’s new era. “THE BIGGEST COMEBACK OF ALL TIME” one of the top comments on the post excitedly reads. “ok so basically ur saying new album otw” and “Next album gon be amazing” two other hyped up fans comment. The video has already racked up well over 100k in just a few hours since it was originally posted. Durk captioned the post, “I’m dropping some for the streets Friday F%CK it.” As we mentioned YB is doing the same thing, expanding his 2024 catalog to five. His single has a title and it is called “Closed Case.” The Louisiana rapper made this known nearly a week ago with the lyrics for it already being on Genius.

One of Beyonce’s producers, Killah B, says that the legendary singer has “shocking” collaborations planned for her new country album. While he didn’t go into specifics when discussing the project with TMZ, he did say big things are in store. 

When the outlet asked him specifically about working with Taylor Swift, he responded: “Let’s just say, she’s on the approach of shocking the world.” The comments come after Beyonce dropped the new tracks, “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM,” and “16 CARRIAGES,” following the Super Bowl. Killah B has production credits on the former of the two.
