Lil Uzi Vert Scores Top 10 Chart Debut With “Eternal Atake 2” Despite Fans’ Disappointment

Fans didn’t think that Lil Uzi Vert would do too well commercially with Eternal Atake 2, but even a disappointing performance compared to the triple-digit numbers of Pink Tape and the first Eternal Atake took them a long way. The new album, which many fans disliked per online discussions, debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 album chart with 59K units sold in its first week. This is the Philly superstar’s fifth top ten debut and falls behind Sabrina Carpenter’s Short N’ Sweet at number two and Tyler, The Creator’s CHROMAKOPIA at number one, its second consecutive week atop the chart.

Furthermore, this caused a lot of fans to debate the weight and significance of Lil Uzi Vert’s Eternal Atake 2, something that they already debated from a critical reception standpoint upon its release. While this is not as impressive as other commercial performances from them, they still remain a massive and resonant enough cultural force to chart higher than any brand-new hip-hop album this week. Plus, when you compare the rollouts and single pushes with other LPs, it’s easy to see how this did not have the highest performance ceiling, either.

Lil Uzi Vert’s Eternal Atake 2 Lands No. 3 Spot On Billboard 200

All in all, we doubt that Lil Uzi Vert minds this and is instead grateful for all the love and support for Eternal Atake 2, as their mission remains committed to their fanbase above all else. Also, this release pushed more extracurricular avenues for them that continue to speak to their cultural grip on many rap fans and music consumers. For example, Nike launched a new Eternal Atake 2 Air Force 1 Low, which is only available for friends and family at press time. Maybe it sees a wider release down the pipeline, which many fans would love to see.

Elsewhere, Lil Uzi Vert feels energized by Eternal Atake 2‘s release no matter if it sold ten copies or ten billion. They teased more new music coming soon, remarking that they remain hard at work in the studio with fresh material. Maybe the frequency of these drops will push Uzi further up the charts or more focused on what their core fans love.

BabyTron Enters The “Lion’s Den” With LAZER DIM 700 On New “Tronicles” Record: Stream

BabyTron’s new album Tronicles is filled to the brim with Detroit bangers, even if its 28-track length might sour this sound as it goes on. However, he still finds plenty of opportunities to diversify the sound and provide some compelling contrasts to his usual style. If you want an example of this, look no further than the record “Lion’s Den” featuring LAZER DIM 700, one of the hottest new-gen MCs working today.

The “Load Out” spitter’s drowsy drawl and flat delivery might sound a bit lacking in energy at first, but it’s an icy and fitting match with the tense, string-embellished, and sharp instrumental. As for BabyTron, the Death Of Slim Shady collaborator fills his verse with the deadpan deliveries, clever wordplay, aloof charisma, and detached confidence that his work before, in, and surely after Tronicles champions. It’s a simple cut, a wholly unsurprising one, but a jam nonetheless.

Also, this is a big collab for LAZER DIM 700, who seems to only go up following his link-up with Denzel Curry and Bktherula on “STILL IN THE PAINT.” If you haven’t heard this new song “Lion’s Den” yet or the album it comes from, find it on your preferred streaming service or check out the official visualizer on YouTube below. Down there, you can also find some standout bars from the cut, as well as the comments section for you to leave your thoughts on it or all of BabyTron’s Tronicles, for that matter. As always, come back to HNHH for more of the best new hip-hop releases around the clock.

Kendrick Lamar Shouts Out Ab-Soul’s New Album On Social Media

Kendrick Lamar returned to his burner Instagram account, @jojoruski, to shout out his Black Hippy partner Ab-Soul’s new album, Soul Burger. This took a lot of fans by surprise thanks to K.Dot’s not-so-active social media presence, and because of the conversation around his support of other artists. If you weren’t already aware, the whole Drake battle situation caused many to criticize how Kendrick seemingly doesn’t do much to promote the music and moves of his peers. There’s a whole debate around that which we don’t need to get into here, as you probably already know what’s up. Still, to make a long story short, it depends on how much stock you put into social media activity to begin with.

Nevertheless, Kendrick Lamar actually fought back against these narratives thanks to his shoutout of Doechii’s new album, Alligator Bites Never Heal. As such, this marks the second TDE-affiliated nod on his social media as of late, although that album appeared on his main page rather than his Finsta. That opened up a conversation as well, but its exhausting nature made both sides land on pretty much the same conclusion.

Kendrick Lamar Salutes Ab-Soul’s Soul Burger

Regardless of all that Kendrick Lamar discussion, you shouldn’t need him to tell you that you should listen to the new Ab-Soul album, Soul Burger. It’s a very solid and compelling effort from the veteran lyricist, pairing dizzying rhymes and melodic curiosities with stark, varied, and engaging production across various hip-hop styles. In fact, the aforementioned Doechii makes an appearance on the cut “I, Myself & Me,” which is a surefire highlight on the project. If you need a superstar to determine your listening habits, that’s on you. But if you want these artists to get the most attention they can, then it’s understandable to want more from the pgLang creative.

Of course, Kendrick Lamar barely has to do anything to get praise of his own. Two of his Drake diss tracks from this year, “Not Like Us” and the Future and Metro Boomin collab “Like That,” made for seven Grammy nominations for next year. But some folks hope the Compton legend would open his mouth more for his other colleagues, so this Ab-Soul shoutout is a welcome practice.

Ab-Soul Muses About Self-Confidence, Fame, & Expectations On Powerful Doechii Collab “I, Myself & Me”

Ab-Soul’s whole mission was to embody the spirit of his late friend “Doe Burger,” who tragically lost his life in 2021 on Soul Burger. It’s the latest album from one of the longest tenured TDE members and in speaking with Billboard, he explains just how important Doe was and still is to him and this tape. “We were yin and yang in a lot of ways. I just really wanted to channel him the best I could to keep him with me. I say this often, but I don’t know how I’m doing this without him. My only logical explanation is that he must be with me,” Ab-Soul said. “This is an album I feel like he wanted me to make. He was a true tastemaker. I valued his opinion. A real artist in his own right. I just really hope he would be proud of it.”

We think “Doe” would be ecstatic if he heard this, especially because Ab-Soul crushes it on his collaboration with Doechii, “I, Myself & Me.” His non-related brother always wanted him to create more danceable tunes, which there are on Soul Burger. However, it still sticks true to Ab’s roots with thought-provoking and detailed listening experiences. “I, Myself & Me” is one of those, with the California native spilling his pain and thoughts onto this powerful and emotional cut. He expresses a lot of self-doubt, stresses about the industry and its vices, and wrestles with the expectations laid upon him. However, perhaps through the spirit of “Doe Burger” he shows some signs of resiliency. It’s maybe the best track of the week and one of the best of the year, so please spin it below.

Asap Ferg & Denzel Curry Are Fending Off A Plethora Of “Demons” On Their Newest Collab

While we are still waiting on one of the A$AP Mob’s marquee members to deliver their album, another one of them fulfilled their promise. This weekend, A$AP Ferg put out his first record in four years with DAROLD, and it’s clear that the New York rapper was finding himself again. The Trap Lord penned a heartfelt and inspiring message to his fans on IG while hyping up the project. He talked about how he rediscovered his passion for painting and found a nice balance for this tape’s themes and messages. “Creating my first album “Trap lord” was an outlet for me being a young black man in the hood facing daily adversities. At one point I even felt like a “lord that was trapped.” Reflection led me to becoming more “Hood pope” the enlightened one but I found balance in just being “Darold.”

It’s pretty impressive how well A$AP Ferg was able to translate that idea into this album, and it shows through tracks like “Demons.” This Denzel Curry collaboration is the perfect embodiment of balance. Overall, it hits hard both in the whip and mentally speaking. The haunting synths and expressive background kid vocals add to the theme about shapeshifting demons that Ferg and Curry are dealing with. For them they come in the form of death, drugs, social media, and familial issues. The ambiguity allows for some clever wordplay, and they take full advantage of it. It’s another homerun from Ferg and Curry and we hope their relationship translates to a collab tape one day.

BigBabyGucci Proves To Be A Best Kept Secret With “Anti” LP

BIGBABYGUCCI has been an unsung hero in the underground realm. The North Carolina native is also one of the most prolific, dropping multiple projects almost every year since launching his career in 2016. What makes him so unique is his ability to traverse multiple genres and their subsets with relative ease. It’s why we began taking a closer look at his material dating back to 2022. However, we wish we could say we have been covering him longer, because he’s a special talent. While it hasn’t resulted in a major support system yet, we take pride in saying that we know his music exists. We got back to following BIGBABYGUCCI earlier this year ahead of his most recent body of work, Baby 5.

However, he isn’t wasting much time in between that project and now. This weekend BIGBABYGUCCI came back with Anti, which hears the multi-genre act tackle alternative R&B beats for a full tape. Baby 5 was a diverse listening experience. But it was a little bloated and repetitive at times due its massive tracklist. Anti is only 16 tracks, and it helps keep each track sounding fresher the further you progress. Out of all of the albums we have checked out, this may be our favorite one to date. Once again, GUCCI’s production choices are top-notch and pretty experimental for the sound he’s working with. It also showcases how much of a Swiss army knife he is. There are a lot of keepers on Anti, and we recommend you check it for yourself.

Hitkidd Enlists Numerous MCs To Back His Campaign On “Hitkidd For President”

Sometimes, trap producers can sound like a dime a dozen. Many get lost in the shuffle and have a hard time developing relationships with other rappers. This of course leads to nowhere near as many opportunities for them to flourish in one of the most popular subgenres. It really is a cutthroat space, but Hitkidd is ensuring that he’s far beyond the rest of the pack with Hitkidd For President.

It’s the Memphis producer and curator’s third solo project and this is actually a sequel of sorts too. Four years ago, he “ran for office” and dropped Hitkidd For President: 2020. Back then, he wasn’t a major candidate. But in 2024, things have changed, and he’s become quite a force. It’s backed by the feature list, which boasts bigger supporters such as DaBaby, Key Glock, Rico Nasty, Duke Deuce, and Guapdad 4000. See if you’ll cast your vote for Hitkidd by checking out the tape with the streaming links below.

Real Boston Richey Unveils “Richey Rich,” His Second Studio Album In Two Years

Tallahassee rapper Real Boston Richey dropped his newest album. Richey Rich is his second studio album, coming after 2023’s Welcome to Bubba Land and the well-received Public Housing mixtapes. The rapper signed with Future’s Freebandz imprint in 2022. Since then, he is the only rapper on the label (outside of Future himself) to make any noise in the current hip-hop landscape. Real Boston Richey has not quite broken through into the mainstream yet. However, it feels as if he’s getting very close to being one of hip-hop’s next breakout acts. At 24 tracks and over an hour in length, Real Boston Richey shows exactly why Future made the decision to sign him.

A former XXL Freshman, Real Boston Richey glides around the album, showing off his flows and flexing over those trunk-rattling beats that Florida rappers are known for. Surprisingly, there is no Florida representation on Richey Rich. There are no contributions from artists like fellow up-and-comer Bossman Dlow. However, there are features by Lil Yachty, YTB Fatt, and GloRilla. GloRilla’s been one of the hottest rappers of 2024, thanks to her run of features and big singles. Having her on your album feels like a cheat code at the moment, offering a surefire way to get on the radio (or a playlist placement) this year. After a quiet 2024 Real Boston Richey will be someone to watch out for in 2025. If you’re a fan of what Florida’s had to offer over the last couple of years, give Richey Rich a shot.

SahBabii Returns From A Two-Year Absence With “Saaheem”

SahBabii had a lot of buzz surrounding him in the late 2010’s thanks to a couple of semi-viral singles. The biggest of those was his Loso Loaded collaboration “Pull Up Wit Ah Stick,” which has accumulated over 52 million plays on Spotify. His blends of melodic rap, pop rap, and trap on that cut were extremely intoxicating and its why it’s had sort of a cult-like following since. The S.A.N.D.A.S. project ranks as one of his most important records, including its follow-up Squidtastic. However, after those, SahBabii has been playing more of a background role, but he hasn’t totally disappeared either. For most of the 2020s, the 27-year-old has appeared on several major albums.

Some of them include Lyrical Lemonade’s debut All Is Yellow, NAV and Wheezy’s Emergency Tsunami, and Trippie Redd’s A Love Letter To You 4. On top of this, he hasn’t been the easiest to keep tabs on. His social media profiles are wiped of pretty much any updates. But SahBabii is reemerging right before the end of 2024 to give us a new album called Saaheem. Genius is billing this a sophomore LP, but it’s not totally confirmed. It’s led by just one single, “Lost All My Feelings,” which hit streaming back in 2023. Overall, the production is one of our favorite aspects of it as it all sounds well put together without many hiccups. See what you think of Saaheem and let us know what you think below.

FERG Gives Fans His Most Vulnerable Album Yet With “DAROLD”

FERG is back. The former ASAP Mob standout has been through a lot over the last few years. The most obvious of which is a name change. FERG has dropped from the ASAP from his stage name, which has allowed him to focus more on his craft as an individual. DAROLD, his latest album, is an example of this focus. The rapper manages to take his signature sound and refine it. The attempts to water his singular talents down with mainstream sounds has largely dissipated, and in its place is a batch of fun and off kilter songs.

FERG has generally been viewed as the goofy yin to ASAP Rocky’s yang. The rapper gets a bit more serious on DAROLD, however. Songs like “Casting Spells” and “Pool” are shocking admissions of stress and guilt set to somber, piano-driven beats. “Pool” is an especially poignant song about struggling with the desire to prove oneself as traditionally masculine. It’s a beautiful track, and one that would’ve been inconceivable coming from FERG just five years ago. The production on the album is uniformly stripped down, which proves to be a smart decision. FERG is an expressive emcee, and he sounds best when he has simple beats to anchor his ad-libs. This is evident on the bangers “Allure” and “Thought I Was Dead,” which has nothing to do with the new Tyler, The Creator song of the same name.

Let us know what you think of this brand new album, in the comments section down below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. We will continue to keep you informed on all of your favorite artists and their upcoming projects.
