Cordae Claims “The Crossroads” Is The One

“I wanted to get better, like, as a songwriter, as a rapper… verses… storytelling… beat selection and taste in beat selection… and that requires work and time, so I feel like this is my best foot forward thus far.” That’s Cordae speaking with Billboard on his brand-new and third studio album The Crossroads. Besides these aspirations and confident words, it’s been a project on fans’ radar. It’s for good reason too, because some of the singles leading up to today were pretty impeccable. “Summer Drop,” “Saturday Mornings,” and “Syrup Sandwiches” are some our personal favorites.

But does The Crossroads live up to its self-praise by its creative mind? Overall, we can see some improvements, especially in the wordplay and storytelling. It’s why those aforementioned tracks are thought of so highly. Where the album sort falls a little flat is in the more braggadocious pop rap cuts. “Mad as F*ck,” “Never See It,” and “Back on the Road” are couple of examples that just don’t have that oomph. While the beats on these tracks are certainly solid, we feel that this lane isn’t where Cordae truly feels at home. But generally speaking, there’s quality here and growth from the North Carolina spitter.

Mary J. Blige Expresses “Gratitude” On Her Potential Final Album

One of the steadiest and most consistent R&B talents of the modern era may be hanging it up soon. Mary J. Blige is back with her 15th studio album, Gratitude, and during the rollout she revealed that she’s considering retirement. “It might be the last studio album. It might be,” she told People. Then, on top of that, the New York native came across as at peace with where she’s at in her life thanks to music. In speaking with the daytime talk show Sherri about the title of the album, she said, “It’s called Gratitude because that’s where I am. I mean, look at my life right now. I’m in a constant state of gratitude.”

Blige added, “I feel good. I have jobs and opportunities. I’m healthy. My family’s healthy. I have people around that care for me and love me. And I have amazing fans. I’m so grateful to my fans for all the years of love that they’ve given me and support.” We will just have to keep tabs on her going forward, especially when she heads out on tour. Mary J. Blige is taking Gratitude across the US starting at the end of January and wrapping things up on April 14. The For My Fans Tour will also include openers Ne-Yo and Mario, so it could be a nice victory lap for what’s been a stellar career.

070 Shake Delivers Adventurous And Dynamic Third Album “Petrichor”

New Jersey-based singer/occasional rapper 070 Shake has had quite the career so far. For many fans, the first time they became aware of 070 Shake was through her first appearance (as an uncredited artist) on Pusha T’s “Santeria,” a standout from his West-produced 2018 third solo album, DAYTONA. A few weeks later, she delivered a haunting outro on the track “Ghost Town” from West’s eighth album, Ye, as well as a vocal performance on the album’s closer, “Violent Crimes.” From there, she released her first two albums on the label, with Modus Vivendi coming in January 2020 and following up with You Can’t Kill Me two and a half years later.

And now, a little over two more years removed from You Can’t Kill Me, 070 Shake delivers her third album, Petrichor. The album comes after an understated, but excellent, 2023 that saw her appear on English singer RAYE’s breakout single, the phenomenal “Escapism.” Petrichor is a similarly hazy release that primarily talks about love (girlfriend Lily-Rose Depp was clearly a major source of inspiration for Shake). Though, there are still some moments of levity on the back half of the release. Shake bounces between Kid Cudi-esque dark pop and alternative stylings and more straightforward pop tunes. The album also features appearances from Miami rapper JT and Courtney Love, Kurt Cobain’s widow and Hole’s lead singer. It’s a diverse tracklist that offers some of the most dynamic music of Shake’s young career. 070 Shake is not a rapper in the traditional sense, but even if you do not consider yourself a big fan of alternative pop music, you should still give this album a try. Quando Rondo Guides Listeners Through His Life On “Here For A Reason”

Savannah, Georgia rapper and auto-crooner, Quando Rondo, is back on the album scene this weekend with Here For A Reason. It’s the 25-year-old’s third studio album, and first since 2023’s Recovery. Prior to the full release, he got the rollout started with “Cash” at the tail end of 2023 during some serious legal issues. Then, in August of this year, Rondo dropped off an additional five singles. “Gotta Do Better & Pray” got things started and that then led to the precursing EP Here for a Reason: In The Darkest Time. Finally, from October 18 to just hours before the LP, Rondo gave fans three more, with one of them being a tribute to his late cousin, Lul Pab. All of that brings to us November 15 and the 17-song album.

Across the body of work, Quando’s detailing his life and the various emotions he’s dealt with as he’s grown up literally and mentally. It’s probably his most mature record to date with various bars proving that to be the case. For example, on “Boy To Man,” he raps, “I got my mind on the struggle with my heart in the gutter and my grind on my hustle.” Overall, the record comes at another interesting time in his life, with the weight of his cousin’s death on his mind and the noise surrounding Lil Durk’s murder-for-hire arrest. Coincidentally, the messages and themes on Here For A Reason feel like an accurate representation of Quando Rondo’s thought process over these last couple of months. See if you share that opinion by listening to the project below.

Denzel Curry Drops Complete “KING OF THE MISCHIEVOUS SOUTH” Album

Denzel Curry has been chipping away at the KING OF THE MISCHIEVOUS SOUTH title for quite a while. He dropped a mixtape with the title in 2012, then an album in 2024. It still wasn’t enough. Curry opted to record a few bonus tracks, rearrange the tracklist, and drop the complete version of the album on Friday. It was well worth the wait. KING OF THE MISCHIEVOUS SOUTH encompasses every facet of the Denzel Curry experience. It showcases the rapper’s aggression, his commercial sensibility, and his consistently stellar lyricism at every turn.

It’s not easy to make a lyrical album that knocks, but Denzel Curry does that exact thing here. The rapper pays homage to the Waka Flocka Flame hit “Hard In da Paint” with “STILL IN THE PAINT.” He adds to the blistering instrumental, and trades bars with the likes of LAZER DIM 700 and Bktherula. It’s an obvious tip of the cap to the music Denzel Curry grew up listening to, and he manages to put a fresh spin on it. The other bonus tracks features less notable samples, but they are of equal quality. “ANOTHA LATE NIGHT” is a nocturnal meditation on sex and love. “P.O.P.,” meanwhile, is a smooth riding anthem with additional bars from Sauce Walka and Key Nyata. It might be the best song on here, even if it’s subtleness will lead to it being buried.

Let us know what you think of this brand new album, in the comments section down below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. We will continue to keep you informed on all of your favorite artists and their upcoming projects.

Juice WRLD’s Posthumous Album “The Party Never Ends” Gets Release Date

Juice WRLD has entered rare territory as a rapper. He dropped two highly successful and acclaimed studio albums during his lifetime. He died at age 21 in 2019, however, leaving behind a ton of unfinished and unreleased material. The Party Never Ends, Juice’s upcoming album, will tip the scale in a very tragic direction. The album will mark Juice WRLD’s third posthumous drop, meaning he put out more music after his death than he did while he was alive. It’s heartbreaking, but it’s also a means of keeping his memory going.

The Party Never Ends will release on November 29. It will be prefaced by the single “Insecure: All the Girls Are the Same 2,” which drops November 15. The song will mark Juice’s first ever collaboration with Young Money legend Nicki Minaj. This album will stand apart from Juice WRLD’s previous posthumous albums, which dropped in 2020 and 2021, respectively. It has had the most time to gestate, given that the rapper’s ex-manager, Peter Jideonwo, has been teasing its existence since the release of Fighting Demons.

The Album Will Be Juice WRLD’s Final Release

Jideonwo took to Instagram in 2022 to confirm that The Party Never Ends will be the best posthumous Juice WRLD release to date. He revealed that there would be less than five features on the album, which includes Minaj. “The Party Never Ends is going to be the best album, not only musically but creatively,” he stated. “We got a big collab on the album cover and also the merch. Everything about it is fire. We’re not just doing some basic music… we’re taking our time to craft a classic you’ll talk about for the next ten years.”

Jideonwo and the rest of Juice WRLD’s team definitely took their time. It makes sense, given that The Party Never Ends is supposed to be the final Juice album ever. Lil Bibby, the founder of Juice’s record label, Grade A Productions, confirmed as much via Instagram. The emphasis on solo material instead of features, and the thematic resonance of the title, certainly makes The Party Never Ends seem as though it will live up to the hype.

SZA Previews New Album “Lana” During Revealing Interview About Her Emotions

SZA recently sat down for a new interview with British Vogue, which proved to not be as controversial and hotly discussed as her Harper’s BAZAAR sit-down with Kendrick Lamar. But nevertheless, she dished out a lot of interesting revelations, emotional divulgations, and hints at the direction of her next album, Lana. It’s no longer a deluxe version to 2022’s SOS, but rather a full-on new LP following some leaks to the public that derailed its course for a bit. Fortunately, it wasn’t enough to fully throw it off track, and whenever it comes out, it’ll arrive as a highly anticipated LP. Now, we have more of an idea of how it could emotionally relate to the rest of the catalog.

“I think I am making music from a more beautiful place,” SZA told British Vogue concerning the emotional and personally artistic direction of the upcoming Lana record. “From a more possible place versus a more angsty place. I’m not identifying with my brokenness. It’s not my identity. It’s s**t that happened to me. Yeah, I experienced cruelty. I have to put it down at some point. Piece by piece, my music is shifting because of that, the lighter I get.”

Elsewhere during the interview, SZA also spoke on what it was like to headline Glastonbury last year. “I just felt like nothing I could do would be enough for Glastonbury, no matter what I did,” she revealed. “It scared me. I was like, well, I wish I wasn’t doing it, but I couldn’t walk away from it… I want to be the second Black woman in history, but then it’s such a f***ing tall order. It’s like, no matter what you do here, you will be subject to criticism. Because of who you are. But that’s life. That’s life, you know?”

Meanwhile, SZA’s recent conversation with British Vogue also held some more personal details and confessions, such as her reflections on getting a BBL. It was a pretty engaging and enlightening conversation from someone who’s always down to share herself in front of the world and use that power in her own personal journey. We can’t wait for what Lana has in store.

Ferg Reveals That He Was Molested At A Young Age

Ferg recently released his new album DAROLD, and it surprised fans that solely expected his trademark aggressive trap and grandiose New York hip-hop. However, the project also held his most introspective and revealing moments to date, such as how the track “Pool” reveals that he was molested as a child at a swimming pool by an older man. “At ten I was drowned and touched when I was in the pool / All the breath left my body where I couldn’t move,” the Harlemn rapper shares on the cut. “Violated, hand on my private by a bigger dude / Seconds felt like forever, really wasn’t cool / When he seen me ’round the block, he’d smile and laugh / As if we had a little secret, and I hated that / Thinking ’bout what he did really made me mad / Even thought about murder, wanted to kill his a**.”

Later on in the verse, Ferg raps about how he told his cousin about this harrowing incident, but how he just made a joke about it one time. The “Demons” MC also opens up about how people called him and his friends “gay” because they were into design, and how both these factors contributed to a toxic sense of masculinity that he’s now trying to shed.

DAROLD‘s “Pool”

In addition, Ferg spoke about his experience during a recent interview on The Breakfast Club. “It was an incident that happened in a pool when I was a young kid and everybody’s around and everything like that,” he remarked to the radio hosts. “For me, it was weird and it was one second, but I was like, why?” The 36-year-old said that someone “way older than [him]” “touched” or “groped” him when he was around nine or ten years old, and that he originally spoke to his cousin because bottling it up made him feel “weird.”

Ferg On The Breakfast Club

Also, Ferg revealed that he told his mother about it years later after going to the Precious film’s premiere in 2009. Childhood abuse victims shared their experiences at the end of the screening. On The Breakfast Club, he also shared that “Pool” took him eight years to write, and stressed the importance of sharing one’s story. “Everywhere, I feel like this s**t is going on and people are not just going to talk about it,” the multi-hyphenate stated. “I’m like, ‘What am I talking about?’ I didn’t make that happen to me. That s**t ain’t mine to be trying to hold inside.”

Cardi B Finds Fan’s Fake Sophomore Album Cover Hilarious

Fans have been waiting for Cardi B’s sophomore album for years now. Fortunately, it appears that it’s right around the corner, but her supporters still can’t help but call out how long it’s taken. Recently, one of them even created a fake album cover for the upcoming project, which still doesn’t have an official release date. In it, Cardi B looks remarkably older, with gray hair and wrinkles. “POV: it’s 2054 and Cardi B has finally released her sophomore album,” the fan captioned the post on X.

It seems as though Cardi was amused by the mock-up. She retweeted it with her reaction, “Lmaaaooooooooooooooo.” Clearly, she’s well aware of how badly fans want to hear her next LP, which she continues to tease. Last week, in response to her Grammy nomination, she previewed an unreleased track on her Instagram Story. “Ahhhh so grateful,” wrote alongside the snippet. “And the fact that this song is my light work. Whew!!! This album honey… anyways thank you guys. Enjoy your day!!”

Cardi B Laughs At Fan’s Fake Album Cover

Cardi also chatted with her fans on Twitter Spaces last month and gave them a brief update on how the project was going. “I’m also in L.A. because I have to do something pertaining the album,” she revealed at the time. “I know you guys are going to be like, ‘What the f**k, b***h?’ But it’s something that’s gonna be done really f***ing quick.”

“It’s just gonna be a one-two,” she continued. “I did it when I was pregnant, and nothing came out how I wanted it to come, out so we’re going to do it again. It’s going to be amazing and unique because everything I do, it’s got to be amazing and unique.” While fans have grown slightly impatient over the past few months, Cardi has had a lot keeping her busy. She just welcomed her third child in September, for one, and is going through a divorce.

Young Nudy Drops A Batch Of Wavy Bangers With “Sli’merre 2” Album

Young Nudy packs a lot of personality into his bars. He’s not whipping out dense wordplay or double entendres, but he has an easygoing flow that sounds catchy over the right production. Pi’erre Bourne is the perfect producer to align with these strengths, and their latest venture together, Sli’merre 2, proves it. The album is credited as a solo venture for Young Nudy, but as its title suggests, it combines the raw, melodic talents of both artists for a listening experience that’s breezy and fun.

“Come to My World” is a perfect album opener. It’s slow, synth-driven, and just spacey enough to give Young Nudy room to vamp. He busts out a slurred flow reminiscent of peak Gucci Mane, which he keeps for the bulk of the album. It works. Young Nudy’s ad-libs sound especially Gucci-esque on the standout cut “Get Fu*ked Up.” None of the songs on Sli’merre 2 overstay their welcome, even if the ideas for each song can sometimes verge on repetitive. The production keeps things moving, whether it be the glitchy throwback sounds of “Breakdown” or the trunk-knocking bounce of “Hakuna Matata.” Young Nudy and Pi’erre Bourne continue to make wavy music together. We wouldn’t mind a Sli’merre 3 at some point in the future.
