Killah Priest Unleashes “Ragnarok” Remix Album

Already, Killah Priest is off to a prolific start in 2023 with his newest album, Ragnarok Remixes. As the title implies, the project consists of remixes of his 2021 album with Shaka Amazulu The 7th, Ragnarok. In fact, this remix album features Killah Priest’s recently formed supergroup, The HRSMN. Moreover, he joined Kurupt, Canibus, and Ras Kass to form their lyrical troop. While the verses and core tracks keep their essence on this remix album, the beats really come alive. Furthermore, some of its architects are B.S.O.M., Anthai, 4th Disciple, DJ Dave, and many more.

Wu-Tang Legacy

However, last we heard from Killah Priest in the headlines came from some controversial comments from N.O.R.E.. The media personality referred to many rappers, including Priest, as Wu-Tang “flunkies.” Also, he reached out to Priest after his comments caught heat in order to make amends. For example, Shyheim, one of the dissed rappers, aimed shots at Noreaga after his assessment. “N***as get drunk and run they mouth, and don’t know what you talkin’ about,” he wrote on his IG page. “I ain’t ever been nobody’s flunky or nonexistent. I am the true and living god. I’m in present time, n***a. F**k outta here.”

Still, what did you think of Killah Priest’s latest album, the instrumentally dense Ragnarok Remixes? However you feel, let us know in the comments and check out the tracklist down below. JayDaYoungan’s Posthumous “Forever 23 2x” Album Is Here

Last summer, JayDaYoungan tragically lost his life at 23 years old in the midst of a shooting. The hip-hop community was taken aback by the sudden and gruesome incident and has continued to keep the late lyricist in their thoughts and prayers ever since.

While he’s no longer here with us to share his musical creations himself, the Louisana native’s estate has been making sure his art gets into the hands of fans, just as Jay intended it would.

At the end of January, the “Opps” artist’s Instagram feed previously lit up with an exciting message. In that upload, it was chiefly promised that a posthumous album would be coming in February.

Today (February 3), the project finally made its debut. Titled Forever 23 2x, it consists of 16 new titles. The lone feature markedly comes from FG Famous on “Me & My Brudda.”

Aside from that collaborative effort, fans of JayDaYoungan will be undoubtedly happy to know that the other songs on the tracklist are comprised of his own work and clever lyricism.

As for production, names like JB Sauced Up, Heartbeatz, and Lako are among those who significantly crafted beats for Forever 23 2x.

After the album landed on streamers, another IG post went up to remind fans to stream. So far, several users have dubbed it a “no skips” release. Additionally, many others reminded DaYoungan in his heavenly home that they plan to “forever remember” him and his legacy.

Prior to his untimely passing, JDY made a name for himself with releases like his Scarred EP as well as “2 Lil N*ggas Uptown” with Lil Ivyjr and “Many Men” alongside Fredo Bang.

While we continue to mourn, make sure to stream JayDaYoungan’s posthumous Forever 23 2x album on Spotify or Apple Music below. Afterward, tell us your thoughts on the new project in the comments.

RIP.

Doja Cat Says Her Next Album Will Be More “Masculine”

Doja Cat says that she’s going “in a more masculine direction” with her next album. The Planet Her rapper discussed the highly-anticipated project during a new interview with Variety published on Wednesday. While she’s been known for her pop sounds in the past, Doja says she’s been experimenting with punk.

“I know that I’ve done a lot of pink and soft things, a lot of pop and glittery sounds,” Doja said. “But for this next era, I’m going in a more masculine direction.”

“I feel like we have enough pop-punk artists right now,” she continued. “And if there needs to be more, then let there be more, but I don’t think I’m the one to do it. I want to explore more of a raw, unfiltered, hardcore punk sort of thing. It’s just something that I’m doing for my own personal fun — getting some drummers and guitarists together. And I don’t even know if that’s gonna make it out there.”

The Variety piece isn’t the first time Doja has discussed going in a new direction with her fourth studio album. Back in November, she told Dazed that her current inspirations are Machine Girl, Deli Girls, Orbital, and Death Grips, as well as the Beastie Boys. Going back further, Doja cited “rave culture” as a major influence on the new music during an interview with CR Fashion Book in September.

While she’s experimented with blending a variety of styles in the past, including pop, rap, and R&B, she says that she would keep punk more isolated from other sounds. She explained to Variety: “It does not mesh! I’m gonna see if maybe it could be fun, but it doesn’t make any sense to me.” She’s yet to confirm a release date for the project. Check out Doja Cat’s cover story for Variety below and be on the lookout for more details regarding her next album in the coming months.

Big Boogie Delivers 14 Tracks And A Fat Trel Feature On “Definition Of Big Dude” Album

In 2021, Big Boogie finally made a name for himself thanks to his work on UNDERRATED. The 16-track effort previously landed on Christmas Eve of that year and saw just one feature from his mentor, Yo Gotti. Today (January 31), the CMG artist is finally ready to unveil his next musical chapter via Definition of Big Dude.

This project includes 14 titles, and again, a sole feature – this one specifically from Fat Trel on “P*ssy Monster.” Interestingly, one of the most popular titles from his last album is “P*ssy Power” and its subsequent remixes, so it’s possible that this new collaboration could be a contender for a big hit.

While celebrating on Instagram across various posts, Boogie made it known that “THE WORLD IS [HIS].” While the album certainly required plenty of hard work and dedication, it’s nothing compared to what he’s willing to put in as he continues to grow.

Ahead of Definition of Big Dude‘s arrival, the Memphis native shared “Twelve Four” as a single. It arrived earlier this month with an accompanying music video, and already boasts upwards of 50K Spotify streams.

The “KeKe” hitmaker previously signed to Yo Gotti’s label in November of 2020. At the time, he was gifted a coveted CMG chain and was later invited to perform at the Memphis Grizzlies halftime home opener show against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Stream Big Boogie’s Definition of Big Dude on Spotify or Apple Music below. Afterward, tell us your top three favourite titles from the album in the comments.

Lil Yachty Talks About New Album & Being “Taken Serious As An Artist”

Lil Yachty expressed some heartfelt thoughts on his new album Let’s Start Here at a listening party on Thursday night (January 27). While some scratched their heads at Yachty’s diversion into psych-rock, they also praised his creative execution along with many others online. Moreover, the 25-year-old said that his talent, passion, and vision extend beyond what people expected.

“This album is so special and dear to me,” he remarked presumably before the album played. “I think I created it just because I really wanted to be taken serious as an artist, you know. Not just some SoundCloud rapper, not some mumble rapper. Not some guy that just made one hit. You know, I wanted to be really taken serious because music is, like, everything to me. You know, I respect all walks of music, not just rap and hip-hop, everything.

“So I think I wanted to make something to show the world just how great it was to me,” Yachty continued. “If we just gonna be honest, I mean, I had n***as that were copying the swag. I just felt like ‘Okay, cool, everyone can do this, that’s fine, but I’m gonna show y’all what y’all can’t do.’ You feel me? That’s what’s on this other side. I hope y’all are good, I hope everybody got the shrooms in your body. You feel me? Like I said, just no flashes, and… see you n***as on the other side.”

While Let’s Start Here definitely displays Yachty’s talents and passions vividly, its atmosphere also points to that cheeky shrooms comment. In fact, it became a part of his social media rollout, along with his trippy visual style in music videos. In addition to a teaser skit, the Atlanta artist also released a music video for his album cut, “sAy sOMETHINg.”

Still, what do you think of Lil Yachty’s thoughts on Let’s Start Here at his listening event, and what about the new album itself? Whatever the case, let us know in the comments down below. Also, as always, come back to HNHH for more insights from the best creatives in the hip-hop game.

Lance Skiiiwalker Shares “Beantown” Ahead of New Album, “Audiodidactic”

Lance Skiiiwalker has returned with a new single inspired by the city of Boston, “Beantown.” The track arrives ahead of the release of Skiiiwalker’s next album, Audiodidactic.

As for why he chose to name the song, “Beantown,” the TDE rapper explained in a statement that he traveled to the city while on tour.

“I experienced Boston once while I was on tour, it felt like a really cool city.” Skiiiwalker said. “Thinking about it more, I realized it was missing a love song. I haven’t heard anything about Boston in that world. The record is more about the vibes I felt there than a particular person, the girl is a metaphor.”

Audiodidactic will feature guest appearances from Isaiah Rashad, Ab-Soul, and V.C.R. It’s Skiiiwalker’s first full-length release since 2016’s Introverted Intuition and first overall project since dropping a pair of EPs in 2021.

Since joining TDE in 2016, Skiiiwalker has appeared on a number of projects for artists on the label. Among them are ScHoolboy Q’s Oxymoron (Deluxe), Jay Rock’s 90059, Kendrick Lamar’s untitled unmastered, Isaiah Rashad’s The House is Burning, and more. He most recently made an appearance on Ab-Soul’s Herbert for the song, “Message in a Bottle.”

Check out Lance Skiiiwalker’s “Beantown” below and be on the lookout for Audiodidacic on February 10.

Quotable Lyrics:

Let’s go to Beantown
Baby, come down
Just wanna be down, be down
Been long since the last time
So long you’re still mine
I just wanna be down, be down

Logic Is Executive-Producing Juicy J’s Next Album

Logic will executive-produce Juicy J’s next album, set for release sometime soon this year, hopefully. Moreover, the past collaborators uploaded a cheeky interview-style video to talk about their team-up. While it’s been a minute since the two cooked up together on a track, this crossover will be nothing short of curious, and potentially a classic this year.

Furthermore, the DMV rapper hinted at what Juicy’s next sonic direction will look like.

“For those of you who don’t know,” he said, “I, Logic, am actually executive producing one of Juicy J’s next albums.” Interestingly, he said “one of,” so maybe this year is more fruitful than we thought. Still, Juicy J hasn’t revealed any release date info or other album details. However, from Logic’s word, fans expect a pretty unique and exciting escapade from the Three 6 Mafia icon.

“It’s the most Dilla, Hip Hop, Alchemist, gangsta, Madlib, f**king dopest sh*t ever.”

In fact, readers might be surprised at the deep-rooted connection between these two MCs. Back in December of 2020, the Memphis rapper said that his “best friend” Logic helped him come up with his iconic “shut the f**k up” producer tag.

“Logic is my best friend, man,” he told HipHopDX. “We hang out all the time. We was in the studio and he was just talking. He’s like, ‘Man, what did Juicy J say? Shut the f**k up.’” We was just being funny. And I said, ‘Hey.’ I stopped it. I told the engineer, ‘You recorded that?’ He’s like, ‘Yeah,’ I said, ‘Man, I’m using that as my producer tag because that s**t is hard. You talking is.’ We didn’t say, ‘Hey, Logic, go in the studio, I mean go in the booth and do this.’ He just said it and it was recording.”

Considering all this, are you looking forward to Juicy J’s next album, executive-produced by Logic? Whatever the case, feel free to let us know in the comments below and make sure to check their collabs out. Also, as always, stay logged into HNHH for the latest release rumors, rap team-ups, and anticipated albums in the game.

Lil Yachty Drops Trippy Skit Ahead Of New Album

Lil Yachty just dropped a skit titled “Department of Mental Tranquility” on social media to promote his upcoming album, Let’s Start Here. Moreover, the skit contains him entering a mysterious office of some kind, with wacky characters, jarring cinematography, and eerie narration. Overall, it seems like a brash and expressive statement from one of hip-hop’s most curious creatives.

ATLANTA, GA – OCTOBER 19: Lil Yachty performs during Wicked (Spelhouse Homecoming Concert) Featuring 21 Savage at Forbes Arena at Morehouse College on October 19, 2022 in Atlanta, Georgia. (Photo by Prince Williams/Wireimage)

“At the end of this hallway is the edge of oblivion,” Yachty opens with narration. He walks into an office titled the “Department of Mental Tranquility” or DMT. Maybe this will be the psychedelic and trippy indie album we never knew we needed from Yachty. Nevertheless, he continues. “Whilst the man you are watching may not know it yet, this moment will mark the first step on the journey of the rest of his life.

“A man arrives at the precipice,” another version of Yachty says in the video. “He simply asks a question.” As Lil Boat arrives at the sweltering office, he’s greeted by an enthusiastic woman at the front desk. After asking if this is where he gets treatment, she asks him a barrage of personal and sometimes funny questions. She even asks Boat if he’s sexually active, which he affirms despite recent IRL comments.

Overall, the video has a kind of jittery and overwhelmed feeling, as Yachty’s eyes dart between trippy decorations, sweaty patrons, and the front desk lady’s exhaustive questions. Finally, he shuts all the madness out and simply asks for them to get on with it.

Then, Yachty walks towards “Room 10” and enters a light-filled room. Afterwards, the door closes, and “Let’s Start Here” pops up on screen. In fact, the Atlanta native even teased us with a taste of the upcoming album via a music snippet.

Moreover, it sounds quite psychedelic, definitely more rock or indie-inspired, and very unlike his recent catalog. However, considering his collaborations with the likes of Tame Impala and his previous teases, this seems like an exciting new direction.

Still, what did you think of Yachty’s trippy new skit to promote his upcoming album, Let’s Start Here? Whatever the case, let us know in the comments and check it out for yourself down below. Also, as always, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest on Lil Yachty’s curious new album cycle.

Shy Glizzy Announces New Album & Reflects On Beyoncé Shoutout

Shy Glizzy announced his upcoming album Flowers recently and spoke about Beyoncé shouting him out on tour. While readers are likely focused on Beyoncé’s recent $24 million Dubai show, don’t forget that she’s been killing stages for years. Furthermore, the pop star and media mogul performed Glizzy’s song “Awesome” during her tour.

Moreover, the D.C. native stopped by DJ Akademiks’s podcast Off The Record to share these thoughts. Still, it’s not like he’s been completely silent prior to this announcement. In fact, his last music release was just a month ago with the 21 Savage-assisted “Slime-U-Out.” During his conversation with Ak, the media host asked him about future projects.

“You have an album coming up soon, right?” the podcaster asked He then asked “Title?”, to which Shy responded with “Flowers.”

Flowers, why Flowers?” Ak said.

“I’ve been in this s**t for a minute now, man,” the 30-year-old stated. “I feel like the growth is there, this s**t’s finally gotten to a point where the knives are sharpening, and all the respect is due. That’s why I named this s**t Flowers, I feel like I need mines, I feel like I give a lot of people theirs. That just goes back to the conversation about the post that I put up and all of that… S**t, I give n***as they flowers. Any n***a that’s before me, any n***a that, you know, do this s**t, I don’t got no problem. You don’t gotta come from the streets, none of that s**t. I’ll just salute you, if you think I’m a cool n***a anyway, if you think that I make good music.”

“What was you first reaction when you seen Beyoncé dancing your song? Did she, like, call you, like, how does that happen?” Akademiks asked.

“Nah, she didn’t even call me, she just did that s**t. I don’t even know how it happened. That s**t just was going viral, and I’m like ‘What the f**k?’ ‘Cause I don’t watch s**t like that. I seen that s**t on the Internet, I was like ‘Damn, that’s crazy.’ Then they brung me out on her tour when she came to the city. So that was even bigger. N***a seen Jay, all of them, Beyoncé. That s**t was big, man, that was definitely a big moment. That was a highlight of my career, one of them.”

Still, what do you think of Shy Glizzy’s thoughts on Beyoncé’s shoutout and are you looking forward to his next album Flowers? Whatever the case, let us know in the comments down below. Also, as always, come back to HNHH for more humbling insights and experiences in the music industry.

Styles P Commands Respect On “Death Before Dishonor”

Styles P is going out with a bang before he hands up the mic as a solo artist.

The Yonkers-bred MC delivered his new single on Friday, “Death Before Dishonor” ft. Brady Watt. As usual, Styles P doesn’t hold back while Watt’s smooth vocals tie the song together on the hook. The latest track finds P tackling spacey production, detailing the street life and the respect that he commands before paralleling that to his presence in hip-hop. Though DJ Premier doesn’t provide cuts for the record, Styles P showcases his reach with a phone call interlude from the famed DJ. It’s an excellent offering from P that continues to assert him as one of the nicest MCs alive.

Unfortunately, the new single marks one of the few we’ll get from Styles in the future. The LOX rapper announced that he’ll be retiring from his solo career, though he’ll continue to contribute to group efforts and deliver features.

“I say this with a deeper over standing of self and evaluating the status of my own mental health,” he said in October, revealing that he became “less spiritually healthy.”

“I believe I have run myself down a tad bit over the past few years,” he continued. “Being a super hard working emcee and a health advocate. I thought about it harder and came to the conclusion that I need to walk away from my solo career period (I think I gave y’all enough).”

This Friday, Styles P will unleash his penultimate project, Penultimate: A Calm Wolf Is Still A Wolf. The project will mark his second last album before he hangs up the mic. He’s yet to announce a release date for his final album but we’ll keep you posted when he does.

Quotable Lyrics
Matter of fact, it’s a matter of fact
Cross me, get your bladder attacked
Lemon face, too, if I gotta face you
I’mma be strapped up, that’s a matter of fact
