Coi Leray Tries Out The Viral “Wanna Be” Twerking Challenge

Last week, Megan Thee Stallion and GloRilla unleashed their new single “Wanna Be.” The song is unsurprisingly a twerking anthem with a hilarious frat-themed video that shows off both rapper’s abilities as dancers. The song has sparked a viral challenge where many are showing off their own skills at the now iconic dance. Though Megan has claimed the throne when it comes to twerking rappers, GloRilla recently claimed in an Instagram live that Megan learned it from watching her. Now there’s yet another rapper throwing her hat in the ring, Coi Leray.

Though she seemed to delete the video shortly after posting it, Coi Leray did try her hand at the “Wanna Be” challenge. Her original caption joked about how fans were waiting for her to chime in. The video itself is pretty typical featuring Coi twerking to “Wanna Be” in her bathroom. As is often the case with Coi videos, fans flooded a repost on Twitter with thirsty responses. The song peaked at number 35 on the chart last month and currently sits at number 56.

Just last week, Coi Leray appeared on a new song. She contributed a guest feature alongside Kaliii on the new G-Eazy song Femme Fatale. The rapper appeared on Kai Cenat’s stream earlier this week, where he freestyled over the famous track while the internet icon danced behind him. It doesn’t appear as though the 21-year-old was taking his remix too seriously. Either way, some commenters think he nailed it, and are sounding off on Twitter/X.

“I mean it could have been worse,” one fan writes. “This good tunes,” another claims. Some critics weren’t impressed, however, and are calling for the Memphis-born performer to leave the song alone. “I think we need to take a step back with music,” one Twitter/X user says. Most viewers are focused on NLE Choppa’s raunchy bars, but plenty are also concerned with how Tyla will feel about the remix, and how Kai was dancing during it. “Tyla never coming back on Kai Cenat stream after this NLE Choppa freestyle,” one user writes. “Kai turning up to it like it’s the next best hit,” another says. This is far from the first time NLE Choppa’s explicit lyrics left fans in awe, however. Last month, he performed a new song for his audience at Rolling Loud, which garnered quite a few reactions for its NSFW rhymes and his suggestive dance moves. The track, “Slut Me Out 2,” is scheduled for release at midnight (April 12).

Kendrick Lamar Teaming Up With South Park Creators For New Musical

Just a few weeks after starting the beef that became the biggest rap story of 2024 so far, Kendrick Lamar has shared some entirely separate news. That came in the form of a reveal that he’s working on a new musical comedy film. The rapper is collaborating with Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the creators of South Park for the film. Though it’s still pretty early in development fans are already getting excited after hearing the premise for the upcoming film.

“The film follows a young Black man interning as a slave reenactor at a living history museum who discovers that his white girlfriend’s ancestors once owned his” information shared about the film reads. Fans will have to wait a little bit more than a year before they can see the film when it hits the theaters on July 4, 2025. Kendrick Lamar Working On New Musical Comedy Film

Kendrick Lamar is still currently sitting atop the Hot 100. He appears on the Future & Metro Boomin song “Like That” where he takes shots at both Drake and J. Cole in his verse. The song immediately soared to number one on the Hot 100 where its spent two weeks. It’s even challenging for a third week on the top spot after holding off Beyonce’s “TEXAS HOLD EM.” The track became Kendrick’s first ever to spent multiple weeks atop the Hot 100.

Polo G Was Reportedly Arrested On Weapons Charges In New York

According to New York’s PIX11, Polo G was arrested on gun charges on April 10 at The Dominick Hotel in Manhattan, according to the New York Police Department. A search warrant was executed at the hotel and the rapper was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and possession of a loaded firearm.

The New York Post reports a maid who was cleaning the room found the gun, a Glock. Police were then called to the hotel and found the gun on a loveseat. There was a bullet in the chamber and nine in the magazine.

In a plea for no bail, Polo G’s attorney Stacey Richman said, “This man is 100% serious in terms of his work, in terms of his professionalism. He has absolutely no incentive to flee because he has a career he’s built.”

The rapper was arraigned in Manhattan Criminal Court and hit with a $25,000 cash bail, which he posted. His next court date is June 4, where he’ll be allowed to appear virtually.

Meanwhile, the rapper is currently preparing to release a new album, Hood Poet. The project was originally set to drop in September 2023, but Polo ultimately ended up deciding to delay the project, saying, “I’mma be postponing my album drop ’til further notice. Just getting back on track from a minor setback… it’ll be worth the wait. I promise.”

Earlier this week, Joe Budden sparked fan interest in a potential clapback from Drake. He claimed on his podcast that Drizzy had been in the studio and that he wasn’t holding anything back. Budden claimed that the upcoming diss track was “nuclear” and was even impressing those with pretty high standards. Now after a new Instagram post Drake shared, fans think the diss track could be on the way soon. The post in question is a picture of Vybz on a t-shirt in a studio. Producer Boi1da also posted a picture of Vybz to his Instagram story leading fans to believe he produced the song. There hasn’t been any official announcement yet but fan speculation is swirling. Rolling Loud Unveils 2024 European Lineup And It’s Absolutely Stacked

Rolling Loud has become a festival institution despite being around for less than a decade. The event has put together consistently exciting lineups since it launched in 2015, and this year is only upping the ante. Rolling Loud is expanding to Europe, with the first ever European event set to take place in Ebreichsdorf, Austria. The production value and pedigree are to be expected, but the element that has most fans eager to buy tickets is the star-studded lineup. The fest is definitely opening with a bang.

The festival, which runs July 5-7, 2024, will be headlined by hip-hop superstars Travis Scott, Nicki Minaj and Playboi Carti. It doesn’t get bigger than these three, each of whom have had experience on a Rolling Loud stage previously. Scott, Minaj and Carti all performed at the California fest in 2023. Scott made his return to U.S. festivals on this Hollywood Park stage, following the tragic Astroworld incident, but only performed for a half hour due to technical difficulties. Playboi Carti, meanwhile, is a festival veteran. The “Magnolia” rapper has brought down the house repeatedly at Rolling Loud events in Miami, New York and Portugal.

The European Fest Will Be Headlined By Travis Scott

Matt Zingler and Tariq Cherif, the co-founders of Rolling Loud, issued a statement following the European announcement. “We couldn’t be more excited to return to Europe,” they wrote. “We’ve been blown away by the passion of the fans at our European shows, and we know our first show in Austria is going to keep the energy going.”

The rest of the Rolling Loud Europe lineup is a veritable who’s who of hip-hop talent. Gunna, Ice Spice and Don Toliver are slated to perform, as well Ski Mask The Slump God and Offset. Other big names include Lil Tjay, Unknown, Flo Milli, BabyTron and Playboi Carti signee Destroy Lonely. Sexxy Red has become a massive pop star in the last year, which will make her appearance one of the most attended.

Red performed at the aforementioned Rolling Loud California, but she caught heat for her live singing online. The “SkeeYee” rapper will get another chance to prove herself as an elite performer before the Vienna audience. Tickets for Rolling Loud Europe will go up for sale April 12 at noon CET.

Polo G Arrested After Hotel Staff Allegedly Finds Gun In His Room

Polo G is no stranger to run-ins with the police, and unfortunately, his latest one landed him behind bars. Earlier this week, the Chicago MC was staying at the Dominick Hotel in downtown Manhattan when officials received a phone call from staff. One staff member reportedly found a gun in Polo G’s room while cleaning it. This led them to notify the local authorities.

“On Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at approximately 1209 hours, police responded to a 911 call for found property at 246 Spring Street. Upon arrival it was reported to officers that there is a firearm at the location. An individual was placed into custody at the location without incident,” a statement from NYC police reads.

As a result of the staff member’s alleged finding, Polo G has now been charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon and Criminal Possession of a Firearm. His arraignment is currently pending in Manhattan Criminal Court. Sadly, however, this isn’t the first time Polo G has found himself facing similar charges. Last August, his Southern California home was raided by the LAPD in connection to a robbery. Rifles, machine guns, pistols, a shotgun, a suppressor, a pair of switches, and more were reportedly found at the residence.

At the time, Polo G was booked on illegal possession of the short-barreled rifle his associate Trench Baby allegedly used to carry out the robbery. In the interview she discusses where her motivation came from while recording new music. “I was inspired to create this album about rebirth because I feel I am becoming a new person physically and mentally. Spotify Will Soon Let Users Remix Songs, But There’s A Catch (And A Price) To It

Spotify users might get the chance to remix songs from their favorite artists, according to a new report from The Wall Street Journal. The outlet claims that the streaming service is currently “developing tools that would allow subscribers to speed up, mash-up and otherwise edit songs,” as they recognize the popularity that remixes have with younger audiences.

However, this new feature will not be free to the public. Not only would those who want to use it need a Spotify Premium subscription, but they would also need to pay more for the upcoming “super-premium” level that Spotify is planning to roll out soon.

The last part of the agreement is that those who use Spotify’s remix feature cannot share their creations on platforms like TikTok and Instagram. These are the two social media apps that have the most popularity for remixes. Those who want to upload there will need to stick to “unofficial” spins on songs.

This is due to financial and legal reasons, particularly the fact that “artists and labels don’t often get paid for those altered versions of their songs,” and if Spotify would allow that, remixes would run rampant and the money would be even harder to track.

Spotify’s rumored feature is also still at least a few months away, so it will be interesting to see how they approach this.
